You guys are right. It is disrespectful to purposely mispronounce someone’s given name. My apologies, i was having a rough day.

I saw some reruns today, and one had the podcast with Kail and Devoin.  He said Briana's not the only one who mispronounces his name--it apparently happens a lot, including teachers, and he said he doesn't bother to correct them.  That sheds a new light on it for me.

I totally see his point, but I’m glad Kail addressed it. I understand many people who don’t know him well mispronouncing it, but Briana is the mother of his daughter, and at the very least she owes him is to learn how to correctly pronounce his name. 🤷‍♀️

Also, in an episode a couple of episodes ago there was a quick clip of Briana saying "De-vOIN" (pronouncing it correctly) in a sarcastic manner, which struck me as particularly egregious since she's been called out for mispronouncing his name. If it was an "honest misunderstanding," she could at least pronounce his name the way he prefers without making a sarcastic show of it. To me, that indicated that she thought Devoin was being stupid or unreasonable in asking/hoping that she and others would pronounce his name the way he prefers. Obviously, Briana is extremely stupid and essentially incapable of thoughtfulness, but I don't think that gives her a pass for being an asshole.

I thought she said she doesn’t like the name. I get it. I don’t like my husband’s name either, but damn. That’s his NAME, and part of his identity.  Rude.

I don't, either.  But since Devoin said he doesn't care, my outrage at Briana is lessened.  For all I know, it works in Devoin's favor because she probably thinks it bothers him but it doesn't.  So he wins.

Well here I am outlying again.  I got my first period in junior high--probably around 13 years old.  And I was 59 when I had my last period. 

But it's a good thing I'm an outlier--if I'd been 9 or 10 when I had my first one and I hewed to statistics, my last one could have been in my 70s. 😀
