During the day I figured this was happening the same time as the corresponding SVU episode (and that still could be the case). No excuse for later that night though.

Or it could be the Olivia version of intervention tough love: Unless you admit I'm right and go see a therapist about it, I'm ghosting you.

Chris Meloni was absolutely amazing in the ILY scene. He’s got great acting chops.

As much as I knew the scene would be controversial or exasperating for many, I enjoyed the hell out of every little microexpression on Elliott's face when he realized he'd actually said it out loud. I love Meloni. So few actors could pull that off believably.

But St. Olivia wouldn't know what Stabler was going to say.  Maybe she was screening her call to make Elliot leave a voicemail.  Like the voicemail she left poor Simon when he was late to their meeting (over on L&O:SVU in case people are watching this but not as a cross over event because they can't stand SVU anymore).

Nothing says I'm always here for you by not answering the phone after bedtime/in the middle of the night!

That voicemail was even mentioned in the preceding SVU episode lol

Does anybody understand why Stabler said ILY to Olivia.  The last thing she said was something like -- what can we do for you, or to help you.  The we was Olivia and all his children.  They are all crowded into the same room.  Why would ILY be his response?

I assumed that he was hallucinating his dead wife. They're pushing that "can't sleep/PTSD" hard. Then he pulled it together, realized what was going on, and said it to his family.

Show-wise, they're ship baiting Stable/Olivia again.

Why exactly does the Stabler clan plus St. Olivia think Elliot needs an intervention?  He just lost his wife to a car bomb.  Why are the kids so OK with it?

He almost killed the cyclist. He's losing it and doesn't listen to his kids when they try to tell him to get some sleep and medical help. His daughter told Olivia that they need her help to get him to listen.

I get there aren't many episodes due to this show's very late start and COVID, but to give this two weeks off really risks losing momentum.

Then again, as I said, while the show is okay, it really does not feel like a Law & Order franchise show, a la SVU, Criminal Intent, and even the way failures Los Angeles and Trial By Jury did. And I understand styles change and slick is in, but I rather liked the gritty tone the other offshoots had that this lacks. Even NYC, as sort of its own character, so prevalent in the others (minus Los Angeles, obviously) , seems absent here.

This iteration just seems so...generic, I guess. It could pass for any CBS procedural.

I wish Dick Wolf and Company would remember just what made this franchise work for 30+ years.

If anything it feels like Wiseguy to me except we are following the support detectives instead of the undercover. I only heard the L&O intro this being the detectives  "OCCB" instead of major case or special victims at the head of the third episode

Not a shipper here so ....

Assuming the writers are logical people, how is that response reasonable?  How does that fit into a situation where a group of intimates are trying to help Elliot.  I thought it was well-acted and surprising, considering his children were there.  I guess we always knew they had an affair of the heart, not of the flesh.  But still, I am having trouble trying to understand what this means.  Ideas?

I thought he was trying to say I love you all. But he got choked up after the you.  He then swallowed hard, pulled it together and croaked out I love you all.  But I realize they were trying to create THE DRAMA the way they shot/directed the scene.
I never saw any romantic stuff between Eliot & Liv. Just close friendship.
