ElectricBoogaloo January 12, 2021 Share January 12, 2021 Quote Shadow explores his oddly welcoming new town before heading to Chicago for a gathering of the Old Gods on Koliada, an ancient Slavic festival. At the Koliada, Wednesday reconnects with his oldest friend, and Salim mourns the unexpected end of his relationship with The Jinn. Shadow returns to Lakeside to find the town rocked by the disappearance of a teenage girl—and discover that he himself is a suspect. Promo: Original air date: 1/17/21 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo January 17, 2021 Author Share January 17, 2021 I already can't stand the actress playing Wednesday's new driver because of her awful vocal fry. Boy, small towns are totally welcoming until they suspect you of having something to do with a teenage girl's disappearance! So that's how they're going to deal with getting rid of the Jinn? Just a letter to Salim? The actor, the character, and the storyline all deserved better than this. Ann-Marie is exactly the reason why I could never live in a small town. I don't need the local busybody taking note of every little thing I do every time I leave the damn house. 2 Link to comment

T Summer January 18, 2021 Share January 18, 2021 Why is Emily Browning (Laura Moon) listed on IMBD as appearing in this episode, Serious Moonlight? I know I nearly nodded off a few times, but I don't think I missed her appearance? On the preview shown this week we see Laura Moon in the dress she was wearing when she first encountered Anubis at the scales. That's odd. Link to comment

IMDB usually doesn’t update info like that until at least a day after the episode has aired. 1 Link to comment

I've been looking forward to finding out how she comes back all week and I feel rather let down. Link to comment

I don't know if that is considered appearing in this week's episode. Link to comment

I stated in my whole post above she looked to be wearing what she was wearing when she was at the scale with Anubis. Cap sleeve top black with white horizontal stripes and black short skirt... not sure if it was 2 pieces or a dress. IDK what to make of that? Link to comment

Her name is in the opening credits therefore she's listed as "in the episode". Series Regulars get credited for every episode even if they aren't in them. Recurring characters (Guest Stars) are credited only in the episodes they appear in. Edited January 18, 2021 by Morrigan2575 Link to comment

I thought the episode was pretty boring. Did we really need Salim asking where the Jinn was in two scenes? With Laura Moon turning to dust last week and all? Link to comment
tennisgurl January 18, 2021 Share January 18, 2021 I am really glad that they seem to already be getting passed any "town suspects Shadow of being responsible for local teens disappearance" plot right away, that just sounded like an utterly tedious subplot. This episode was a bit on the dull side, basically a place setting episode, but it did have its moments. I am curious about the opening with the thunderbird and the dead village and then what sounded like a thunderbird at the end, that combined with the references to Lakeside's Nordic heritage, it sure raises questions about what Shadow is dong there. As nice as it is to see Salim, I would have preferred to just have them say that he and the Jinn are off together offscreen somewhere then just showing Salim getting ghosted. What a lame way to end that whole plot. Its here where some of the behind the scenes issues start to show on screen... I like random weirdness as much as the next person, but this show needs to be very careful to keep hold of its narrative focus. No need to spiral into a million subplots, no need to add a ton of extra drama or poorly thought out social commentary, just stick to the story and themes as the are. Checking in with the Zoryas and Czernobog went a lot better, I am always happy to see them, especially Zorya Polunochnaya, who we haven't seen since way back in season one when we first met the Zoryas and Czernobog. I am right there with Shadow, her scene on the roof turning the coin into a star was worth the trip/episode. They also still have a lot of chemistry, certainly more than he had with Laura. Nice to see Denis O'Hare show up as Tyr, who seems to be a nice addition to the Old Gods. Tyr was a very ancient Germanic/Norse god, who was probably associated with war, but is so old that a lot about him is unknown, and he is most famous for sacrificing his arm to the monster wolf Fenir, so of course Odin wants him on his team. Book Spoilers: Spoiler Hinzelmann getting all giddy talking about the junker ice game certainly does take on a very different tone knowing what she actually is, especially when she was talking to Allison. No wonder she was so happy to see such perfect cars... 1 Link to comment
WatchrTina January 19, 2021 Share January 19, 2021 (edited) Man, the town going from all hey-neighbor-how-ya-doing-welcome-to-the-neighborhood to everyone-staring-at-you-and-suspecting-you-of-murder was a real case of emotional whiplash. So . . . Shadow found a place that could replace the windshield in that old clunker and still made it to the wake on time? That beggars belief. (Unlike the moon being a coin placed in the sky by a slavic goddess, which I can totally accept.) I loved that Shadow remembered the ritual gifts for the Slavic God/Goddesses (I'm not even going to try to spell their names.) The neighbor choosing to NOT tell Shadow how to turn the heat on when she first met him really was a dick move. I'm not clear who/what the peacock was. Just another local spirit? Shadow's dreams are WEIRD. Edited January 24, 2021 by WatchrTina Link to comment
hnygrl January 20, 2021 Share January 20, 2021 (edited) Re: Shadow’s dreams... I was thinking thunderbird with the thunder and the stuff with the Slavic goddess whose name I won’t even attempt to spell (let alone pronounce) and whiskey jack stuff...then...thunder...and...pea...cock? Wha...? this season is so weird. Hinzleman is a middle aged woman instead of an ancient old guy. The purple car is a pink car and not an suv. He borrowed it and not bought it. But I do love his apartment. So far? I find it...confusing...can’t tell if I like it or not. Too many plot threads to untangle. Edited January 20, 2021 by hnygrl Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu January 24, 2021 Share January 24, 2021 So are we to assume the Norse gods were more powerful than the Native ones or did the Vikings just have better weapons? Something seemed off about Allison to me. Did she have impaired vision? I didn't realize Cloris Leachman was still alive. I thought the show was trying to honor her memory via the character she formerly played until I googled her name. Can a luminol test tell the difference between human blood and animal blood? So Angela from Power didn't actually get murdered, she moved from NYC to Wisconsin, hah hah. The change in scenery didn't improve her personality unfortunately. 😉 Link to comment
