Atlantic College is a fabulous location, really beautiful area. There has been some filming in Llandaff Cathedral this week as well, but I don't know if that was Doctor Who or another show. I just saw all the trucks and gear parked outside for two days, with nothing to give away what it was for.

The Hayes, for the record, is the name of a wide old street in the main shopping centre in the heart of the city. The show has filmed around there before - a lot of the Auton crisis happened there way back in Rose, and it was also the location used for a Christmas market that got smashed up by the flailing Christmas trees in that first Christmas special (filmed in July - I saw it all being set up on my way to work that day and was well confused until the episode aired!). They've filmed at City Hall before as well - although ironically, when they had a storyline actually set at City Hall, in Boomtown, that was filmed down the road in the university's Glamorgan Building!

There have been sightings of Jodie, Mandip and John Bishop on set at Royal Albert Dock that includes video

There are reports of Catherine Tate (Donna Noble) in Liverpool. She reportedly told someone she was working on something. So of course people are speculating about a Who appearance. Someone claimed on Twitter that they saw Catherine and John Bishop together but hasn’t provided proof

Cultbox has another writeup of the show filming at the Museum of Liverpool https://cultbox.co.uk/news/headlines/doctor-who-series-13-john-bishop-filming-at-the-museum-of-liverpool

As part of the museum shooting, Mandip, John and other people were dressed in period costume, possibly from the late 1800s (ETA: That might actually have been from today's filming at St. George's Hall)

Yesterday, they filmed at the Church of St. Luke, a "bombed out church" from WW2

Yesterday's filming seemed to include some sort of monster, but it's not clear whether that person was playing dress up or was actually a part of the filming

Today they were or are set to film at St. George's Hall, possibly their last day filming in Liverpool. Actor Kevin McNally was part of the filming, so he's likely doing a guest role

There's going to be a Doctor Who graphic novel from Penguin Books that will be released on November 16 and the synopsis says (or said) it ties in with Episode 2 of Series 13 and involves Captain Jack Harkness and the Torchwood Institute. It's written by Jody Houser who writes the Doctor Who Titan Comics. Cultbox has a writeup about it https://cultbox.co.uk/news/headlines/doctor-who-series-13-captain-jack-novel-ties-in-with-episode-2

You can see the page for the novel and the synopsis on Amazon (US) (unless it gets altered, like it has at the Penguin website and Amazon UK) https://www.amazon.com/Doctor-2021-Event-Jody-Houser/dp/1787737527/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=doctor+who+2021&qid=1619108477&s=books&sr=1-2

There's no information at this point on whether John Barrowman makes any kind of appearance in Series 13. It's all pretty intriguing

Cultbox did an article on the filming in Bristol, including pictures of the cast https://cultbox.co.uk/news/headlines/doctor-who-series-13-jodie-whittaker-mandip-gall-and-john-bishop-filming-in-bristol

Nick Briggs was spotted and photographed, raising hopes of it being a Dalek-involved episode. There was at least one alleged sighting of Dalek operators Nick Pegg and Barnaby Edwards, but no photographic proof. Someone stated they saw Chris Noth, but that reportedly was a lie or joke. Someone else said they saw Bradley Walsh, but no visual evidence was provided

Photographic evidence of a Dalek prop being unloaded so it's looking like a Dalek episode coming up

Per Nicola Methvin at The Mirror https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/jodie-whittaker-replaced-tardis-cover-24310862, there appears to be a plan for Jodie’s 13th Doctor to regenerate and Jodie to exit in 2 specials after Series 13 is broadcast, the specials to supposedly be shown sometime next year

If you don’t want to give the Mirror attention, Cultbox has written an article about it https://cultbox.co.uk/news/headlines/doctor-who-rumour-jodie-whittaker-to-film-regeneration-for-2022-specials

Nooo, I want more of Jodie's Doctor 😢 I know that 3 seasons are sort of a norm, but these have been shorter, so I think we deserve another one.

I am not familiar with which British newspapers/websites are trustworthy and which are not. Is Mirror a good source in general?

From what I understand, the Mirror is generally considered to be a trashy tabloid, but the article’s writer, Nicola Methvin, is generally considered accurate with Who spoilers

The show filmed at Sully Beach a few days ago and someone managed to snap a couple of very interesting pictures (ETA: There are actually 4 pictures in the article below):

https://penarth.nub.news/n/tardis-lands-on-sully-beach-for-doctor-who-filming

Note the costumes (especially for the Doctor), the boats and what the Tardis is sitting amongst. The assumption among fans at the moment is that it looks like it could be a pirate episode, possibly even Chinese/East Asian pirates

So far, this is what we appear to know about Series 13, mostly via people seeing what's being filmed in the open:

- The Sontarans will be in the season premiere, or at least new companion Dan's first episode and his parents will fight off some Sontarans according to John Bishop. There also appears to be a visit to or depiction of the Crimean War

- Weeping Angels (or at least one) will be in an episode

- At least one Dalek will be in an episode

- There will be an episode where the Doctor, Dan and Yaz will be in Britain's past wearing period costume, possibly the late 1800s

- It appears Dan will go in the past (or maybe be in the present) and meet with his ex-girlfriend

- There will be one or more episodes or parts of episodes based in Liverpool

- There were fans pictures of Jodie being filmed being suspended in mid-air and feigning sleeping or being unconscious

- There were two aliens sighted during filming who were like blue-headed or something and wore elaborate costumes and seemed to have a confrontation with the Doctor

- The latest filming has the cast on or near water and wearing what might be East Asian outfits (including the Doctor with a blouse or shirt) and Dan maybe wearing a pirate-y outfit. There is thinking it might be an episode about pirates or Chinese/East Asian pirates. There was a notice recently about needing Chinese or East Asian men for filming in early July, but it didn't say for what production

The more direct Youtube video

And the trailer that was shown

Various tidbits:

Dan's last name is Lewis

The season is all one story and each episode is a chapter. Chibnall said they had to figure out how they wanted to do the show given the pandemic so they went big and Chibnall says this is the most ambitious thing they've done for this era. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger (or several of them do, it wasn't clear)

There are a number of guest actors who recur across several episodes

The special guest was Game of Thrones actor Jacob Anderson, who plays Vinder and will be recurring. He wasn't able to make it to the panel but he made a video introducing himself and talking how excited he was

There are several old monsters and there's a monster in particular that Mandip was very excited about (not sure if old or new)

The cast was asked for one word to describe the season:
Mandip: riveting

John: inspirational

Jodie: mysterious

Chibnall: swarm

Sounds pretty exciting and intriguing. Hope the serialized nature doesn't bog it down

ETA: Also, here are the two new cast pictures that were shown.

A story told across an entire season? With a recurring character who is kind of a new companion but not really? Interesting! Shades of The Dalek's Master Plan way back in the 60s...

I like this. I also love Doctor Who and I have liked this run so far, definitely more than the last of Moffat, which I wanted to love so much, because I loved Peter Capadi's portrayal, he was my favorite Doctor, but I just hated Moffat's season arcs (I liked his one-off episodes), so Chibnall is such a freash breath of air for me and I love Jodie as the Doctor.

I am interested in the season long story, it could be interesting to change the format a bit, season 9 also did that and despite the underwhelming season arc, the separate stories were mostly good. I am sad that we are getting fewer episodes, but it is understandable considering the situation. I am not yet sold on John Bishop's character, but I will try to keep an open mind.

New director uncovered, apparently for the second special, which is set to be broadcast in Spring 2022

Wang is a woman and first generation Chinese living in England. This seems to be her first major gig

It appears I neglected to post the July 29 press release about Chibnall and Jodie leaving, which also indicated that Series 13 will consist of 6 episodes that the press release called a 6-part Event Serial

https://www.doctorwho.tv/news/?article=jodie-whittaker-chris-chibnall-leave-doctor-who#_

https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2021-doctor-who-jodie-whittaker-chris-chibnall

So what we will get is the following for Series 13 and the following specials:

- Series 13, consisting of 6 episodes, to be broadcast this Fall (Autumn) and will supposedly be one story with each episode a chapter

- A special to be broadcast on New Year's Day 2022 (thought to be about the Daleks)

- A special to be broadcast in Spring 2022 (thought to be the Chinese pirates episode)

- A feature-length special to be broadcast in Fall (Autumn) 2022 that will be part of the BBC's Centenary celebrations and where 13 will regenerate

The 3rd special, the Regeneration one, is supposedly being filmed this month, reportedly this week (but that hasn't been confirmed yet).

Also, a new promo pic was posted on the Doctor Who Facebook and Instagram accounts that looks rather interesting:

https://www.instagram.com/p/CSooYXuMmWF/

ETA: Here's the tweeted image in case you can't get to Instagram

It's hard to see here, but in the picture on Instagram, it looks like the Doctor's braces are sparkly Navy Blue. Someone on the Instagram page is claiming they made the braces and calls them Navy Yorkshire Tweed

They are currently filming in Grange Gardens in Cardiff for Jodie's final special (set to include her regeneration) and Bradley Walsh has been spotted on set and photographed with John Bishop. Mandip and Jodie were spotted at some point as well.

Here is Cultbox's writeup

At the bottom of the article is a hard to see link of pictures of Mandip and Jodie filming with director Jamie Stone:

Bringing all the old companions back for the regeneration is interesting. Ten, of course, had his regeneration tour of all his old friends, and way back in the 80s we saw Four and Five hallucinating past companions when they regenerated. But if Thirteen's old companions are back for an actual adventure leading into the regeneration, that's a new slant, and I'm intrigued to see how it plays out, given that presumably they won't all stick around to help the new Doctor through the experience!

In a couple of those spoiler pics, you can just catch a teeny glimpse of the war memorial in Grange Gardens - my 2xgreat-grandfather is listed on that memorial (plus a few other, more distantly removed relatives). My mum's family is from Grangetown.

Something I forgot to post about earlier is that there was a #FindtheDoctor game for the fans that started a few weeks ago and had them find clues that were either part of a password for the /mystery website here https://www.doctorwho.tv/mystery or clues to other places to find more clues. In the end, some fans got into the website's code late last week and found the full password that allowed a jump to the end, 3 clues before we were supposed to apparently. What was found was a new promo picture of Jodie and a video that was a voice mail message from the Doctor (voiced by Jodie) to Yaz and then glimpses of a monster

Here is the tweet that contains the picture and link to the video

The /mystery website also contains the previous voice mail message from Yaz (voiced by Mandip) to the Doctor that the Doctor was responding to if you want to have some fun listening to it

For those who watch the BBC in the UK, there was reportedly a bit of a Who teaser shown a few minutes ago just before Strictly Come Dancing that was reportedly like a short glitchy mayday transmission from the Doctor. Keep an eye out for more folks!

Here is the very short teaser:

Several things happening since yesterday:

1. The BBC Doctor Who social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc) went down yesterday and fans are going wild speculating what's up. It's either intentional leading into more Series 13 promotion (see below) or some sort of glitch

2. One or more billboards in Liverpool were showing a clearer version of the glitchy teaser

3. Sometime today an electronic advertisement showed a number to call and if you call (from the UK), it's a voice mail intro from the Doctor (Jodie) saying there's an invasion of Earth and please report what you see

4. There's a lot of speculation that something might be revealed during one of the BBC's primetime shows tonight

5. As part of Part 3, there's some sort of link on the Doctor Who page off of the BBC page with terms and conditions about some sort of game or something in relation to the upcoming season about reporting alien sightings to the Doctor. Some fans believe it's an augmented reality type game

6. I guess one last thing. Because of the social media outage with no explanation, the hashtag "#WhereIsDoctorWho" was created by a fan and has been trending since last night

All the socials and webpages going down is definitely intentional - they are all so varied across different platforms, it would be impossible for a glitch to take them all out in exactly the same way at exactly the same moment. And it has worked, it got Doctor Who trending. All part of the build up to the new season, which will be landing imminently - sometime in November would be my guess.

From everything I'm hearing, October 31 is more likely

And the new promo, shown just a few minutes ago before Strictly Come Dancing. "The Flux is Coming"

ETA:

Yep, Halloween premiere is confirmed. And a subtitle, cool!
