Why is it that ever since somewhere around season 5 or season 6 that it seems that Bonnie seems to be growing more and more as a character while Christy seems to be regressing in leaps and bounds? I just don’t get it as I really was looking forward to seeing Christy improve. Why can’t the show have both Bonnie and Christy become stronger without one having to backslide? I really don’t get it and it does kind of annoy me a whole lot since I see the both of them as main characters. Do they like Allison Janney a whole lot better for some reason and don’t want her to be outshined? Or did Anna Faris do something to piss off Chuck Lorre? If she did, I suppose it could be worse as he hasn’t piano’d her yet.

I've been wondering about these same things. It's sad and not entertaining to me to see what they've done to Christy as a character over the past few seasons. It's either to make Allison more of the focus since she's been winning awards and/or what you mentioned about Anna pissing someone off.

One of them has to stumble or the show wouldn't have the dramatic side that they love. And Bonnie already backslid in a major way in season 2. Plus Christie does has the harder life. Working + school + single + estranged from her kids + meetings. What does Bonnie have? A manager job where Tammy does a bulk of her work and a husband who adores her. Why would she struggle.

Exactly.  Like life, recovery is a roller coaster.  It's all how you handle it.  Meetings are supposed to help with that, but sometimes it just gets too overwhelming.  I'd like to see Bonnie and Tammy do some Al-Anon.  We have dual members, because addiction often has it's roots in childhood trauma.

My problem is that they’re not really completing any kind of arc with Christy. She’s stuck in a never ending loop where nothing really gets resolved. Christy’s life is changing but I don’t feel like she has changed.

I'm not saying that Christy can't backslide. I'm saying that she doesn't have to be made to be a reprobate and unlikable during it. That is what I was trying to get at. I think they are purposely writing her like this for some reason. If it was just Christy about to have a relapse, it would have been different.

Is Kate Micucci joining the cast? I won't be remotely surprised if she ends up moving in with one of the characters. I like her, but I'm not sure if there's room in this cast for someone new. We see so little of Marjorie and especially Wendy as it is.

I hope not.  Beyond the reason you mention, I cannot stand her as an actress.  I thought it was just the voice she was using on Big Bang Theory, but no, that's her voice, and it really gets on my last nerve.

Putting Christy in charge of the bar seems like a really, really bad idea. And not just because she ran it poorly. She has a history of being unable to resist temptation. Look what happened when she went into a gambling casino.

We haven't seen her relapse as far as alcohol and drugs are concerned, just gambling.  So maybe one temptation has replaced others?

Christy has been serving drinks in a restaurant for nearly 15 years now (assuming she's still there; I only watch in syndication, so the plots I read about here don't always stick in my mind until I actually see them happen), and once she got sober, it didn't become a problem for her to keep doing that, so I don't think working at Adam's bar would be much different.
