Besides all the nonsense most have detailed here...they keep downplaying Supergirl's abilities. She came into the warehouse and the Toyman jumped away from her. Really? A human being can outmaneuver SG?!??! Buffy did a great job of creating bad guys that would challenge Buffy. Other than the other Kryptonians, all the challengers here are not anything that SG couldn't have disposed of in one minute or less. Just bad writing.

Wow, that was really bad. One of the worst episodes of the series. Other than Kara and Supergirl, not one character that's even remotely interesting. The writing is clichéd and predictable. I don't really see them changing anything for the better. There is nothing really compelling about this show.

Evidently you haven't seen Empire, Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons and the Cosby Show. It's not the 50's. -
That depends. If I take one pin away, how will you feel? :)

The Shannara Chronicles - General Discussion

Writing doesn't cost 100 million. Above average, but a lot of problems. I would call it Apocalypse 90210. -
Better than Forever where it ends when he is about to tell his love interest who he is on the season finale and then is cancelled. I really liked it and thought it was better than most pilots. It got to the point and not a lot of exposition. I liked the lead and no one was annoying. But, his son not recognizing him was along the same lines, but not as bad, as people not recognizing Clark is Superman.

The Shannara Chronicles - General Discussion

I thought after two interesting eps that this slowed things down too much. And yes, the slang terms from now were rampant and annoying. The King's court denying magic and everything we had seen was just a waste of time. It is starting to remind more of the 100 than Lord of the Rings. And that is not a good thing. I'll watch a little more to see what happens. -

Yep, they needed to cast real elves. They are so discriminated against. -
Superman can turn coal into diamonds. Plus, as mentioned, there are other ways the Kryptonians could make money using their superpowers. For storyline reasons, they let them have jobs.

Still not liking the show. Cat is still annoying and Maxwell Lord is just a cliché and his motivation makes no sense. The plots are predictable and not new. But, Melissa's continuing enchanting performance as Kara and SG make it watchable.
-
It does. Remember, she says Kara didn't look like SG anyway. It's bad enough to think no one would recognize her, but to point it out and then pull back from it is just silly.
-
Yep, it makes no sense for Kara to keep this job. She's a flunky and this is what Kara wants to do?
-
Not so. The only thing humanity was giving up was their negativity and moving onto the divine, which is what many faiths teach. I'm so glad you mentioned this. It's been happening for a short while on many shows on demand. It just happened again tonight. Need to call the cable company and let them know. Thanks for saying something. I thought maybe it was something wrong with just my TV.
-
Didn't say it did. Just that if the truth is not widely believed, then most of mankind got it wrong.
-
I watched 10 minutes and wasn't impressed. It was dark and dreary and didn't really make me want to watch anymore. But, I will give it another chance and watch the whole episode to see if my early impression was correct.

My sister keeps asking something that was never addressed. What happened to the plane and the pilot that landed in Barbie's cornfield at the beginning of the episode?
-
I think that is one thing that most people know, but don't express very often. Most want to be tolerant of other's beliefs. But, the point is that either there is a heaven or not, there is either a hell or not, Jesus died for our sins or he didn't, we have lived before or we haven't, and there is either a God or not, etc. All of these can't be true and exist on a reality level. And since there is no majority belief in the world, most of mankind have it wrong. And if a big faith isn't the truth, an overwhelming number of mankind have it wrong.
-
Yep, this made no sense. They made it seem like no one had to work. But, where was the food coming from? Who was delivering it? Where was power coming from? How do they have cars that run? Where does gas come from? Unless it's magic, this was never really explained.
-
I agree with many of the things said here especially about Barbie's farm. The media, the people and security would have been totally different. But, another thing that didn't ring true was people giving up on their faith. Most people would not give up on their faith because an alien visited. I know I wouldn't. I liked it and they did the reveal at the end in good dramatic fashion. Although, I figured out exactly what Karellen would look like without any knowledge of the book.

Melissa had some really good scenes. Supergirl is really growing as a character. The fight scenes were good. The rest, as usual, not that good. And I don't get Cat finding out she is Supergirl. Is she going to order her around when she is Kara? Could be a little uncomfortable.
-
I didn't say she needed to be locked up against her wishes. I would think it would be common sense not to do anything risky. You make it sound like her job is more important than Supergirl. Plenty of jobs, only one Supergirl. It was the show being manipulative and it was dumb.
-
There are many jobs. That job is not essential. Is this the only job in the world?
-
What's more important, Supergirl or her job?
-
I have to agree with you there. Certainly closer to NS. It doesn't compare to ER, one of the great shows of all time. It's not close. I liked it enough to give it another look.
