  1. I've been rooting for James all along. But for some reason that changed yesterday. I'm tired of him. I hope he flames out before he beats Ken Jennings in winnings. I was actually rooting for crazy lady who might rule the world. I was very happy to hear the news about Alex.
  2. I don't see anything wrong with his looks, And he seems like a really nice guy. He has won me over a little more every time he's on. And picking the high dollar clues first doesn't bother me like it usually does. I'm really impressed with his wagers and his vast knowledge. And he doesn't come across as smug. Then I would hate him no matter how smart he is.
  3. Crowbar hotel? Yeah, I never heard that one before. I love Rachel's show (and Lawrence's) but I sometimes get tired of their handoff. Most of the time she's just rehashing what she just talked about. Lawrence seems to like it, though. He doesn't usually do it with anyone subbing for her. And occasionally we do get some really good moments between them. I guess I shouldn't complain.
  4. I know! You really have to pay attention and even then it's still somewhat confusing. I'm tempted to read it again, too, but I have to say, as unique as the plot is, I was not really engaged with the characters.
  5. I read The Paragon Hotel by Lyndsay Faye. I'm a huge fan of this author and I thought it was excellent. I loved her book Jane Steele.
  6. I agree. After Moffat's overblown, grandiose season long arcs, I was happy there wasn't one. I liked just getting to know the characters.
  7. I read The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (Stuart Turton). Evelyn Hardcastle will die every night at 11pm until the main character can solve the mystery. Beyond that, it's best not to read any spoilers. The book is mind bending in it's originality. I didn't really care about the characters, but I gave it 4 stars for its clever concept and ingenious plotting.
  8. I have disliked most of the Christmas Specials (at least under Moffat) so I'm happy with the New Year's Special.
  9. Everything you said makes sense. But, I was shocked that he didn't know, or at least guessed, Lake Pontchartrain.
  10. I loved that book. I read it so I don't know how the good the audio version is.
  11. I totally agree with Alex about the board jumping. Many of the clues are written so they make more sense if you start at the top. And it makes the least sense when they do it right at the start. Even some of the kids are doing it now in the teen tournament. And I'm not sure they know why they're doing it.
  12. This says it all. I loved this episode. My favorite of the season so far. The cinematography was gorgeous once again, the story pulled at my heartstrings, and the villains turned out not to be villains. It was wonderful.
  13. Rachel made me feel so much better tonight pointing out all the House Republicans endorsed by Trump who ended up losing. I know it was the opposite in the Senate but Rachel made me see there is hope. And the Governors. If we want to see voting rights restored, it starts with winning the local races. Lauren Underwood was terrific. She's very charismatic.
  14. I love Hair Guy (I know his name is Erik)!
  15. I don't have a real problem with Alan but I hope he loses tomorrow to make up for bumping Alex (one of my favorite champs ever) before he could get a guaranteed spot in the TOC. I'm vindictive that way, lol.
  16. I'm disgusted by it too. Aren't there 3 liberals on the Supreme Court. Who the hell voted to uphold voter suppression?
  17. I agree. I didn't see anything she did as being overtly female. I totally bought her as a new Doctor with some old Doctor memories.
  18. I love Rachel's historical stuff. I hope what happened to Al Dixon happens to Susan Collins. I've never really thought she was a centrist as they keep saying. She is like the female Rand Paul. Lets pretend to be disturbed about something but then totally vote the party line. Her enthusiasm for Kavanaugh was nauseating.
  19. I absolutely loved it. I wasn't sure I would. I love the companions, proper companions with a story. Sad about Nan. One thing I wondered about is the lack of a Doctor Who introduction (before the first commercial break). For Capaldi it used to be the meshing gears of a clock and then they showed the Doctor Who logo and the name of the episode and who was starring in it. There was none of that with this first episode. Or did BBC America cut that part?
  20. I know what you mean, but they haven't shown the CE episodes for years. I'm glad they did this time.
  21. I'm skeptical about all of the republicans. They always fall in line no matter what they say beforehand. Isn't Lawrence on tonight? They are calling his segment something else.
  22. I'm surprised there hasn't been more traffic on this site. I love how Lawrence has been covering the Kavanaugh fiasco. Lawrence played all the clips of Kavanaugh's completely rehearsed answers to his sham interview on Fox. He said the same two things over and over no matter what he was asked. And tonight Lawrence showed him in another lie, when Kavanaugh said some of the senior boys in high school were 18 and could legally buy beer. According to Lawrence the legal age to buy beer then was 21. And then Kavanaugh volunteered the information he was a virgin all through high school and for many years after that. Maybe he was (and maybe not), but he seems to have engaged in a lot of inappropriate, drunken frat boy behavior, even sexual assault. I hope Lawrence is right that they probably don't have the votes they need to confirm him to the supreme court.
