  1. Hate, hate, hate, the beard. His wife doesn't like it either. Colbeard, ha ha. Good one.
  2. I think he was just using Warren as an example. And maybe especially to get under Trump's skin because he described a beautiful scenario where Trump is escorted out of the White House as he is beaten by a woman. I love Lawrence!
  3. McFaul was explaining that the Russian spy was in Russia and could not be arrested by the U.S. Ari said, since she was a U.S. employee couldn't we have sent her to the U.S., in the ruse that there was a job she needed to do here, and then arrest her on American soil. That's when McFaul said Ari must read a lot of spy novels. And Ari said he just watches the news. I thought that was actually a very funny exchange. I also thought Ari's suit was very ill fitting.
  4. I try to get with the guest hosts, but it doesn't matter who it is, they lose me after the first 10 minutes. No one can replace Rachel's delivery on any topic. And I like Ari on his own show. Nicolle bothers me because she talks over her guests constantly (on her own show) like her interjection is way more important than the opinion of the person talking (and she actually has some really good guests). She usually doesn't talk over Steve Schmidt, but last night he tried to correct her that he's a former Republican and she had to interject that he's a non- practicing Republican. Rachel deserves her time off but I can't wait for her to come back.
  5. I think Michael Smerconish's comment that we need a 3 party system is misguided. I agree with Josh Barro. I wish someone had pointed out to Michael Smerconish that Bill Weld, the vice presidential candidate on the Independent Ticket, decided at the end to vote for Hilary Clinton instead of his own party.
  6. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I don't get all the praise for Ruth Ware's new book The Death of Mrs. Westaway. I thought the main character was completely annoying and we had to read in every chapter how she was freezing (so she walks around barefoot). The plot was paper thin. Some reviewers (ridiculously) compared it to Rebecca. OMG, if Mrs. Danvers were real she would turning over in her grave. I actually did like the explanations of the tarot cards.
  7. I recently read Circe too and was surprised at how much I loved it. Beautifully written.
  8. I read A Higher Loyalty and he comes off as sort of a boy scout. That's not exactly a criticism of him. I think he made some bad judgement calls with regard to the Clinton investigation and the resolution and he's still trying to justify that. I didn't realize when I read the book that he was the one who prosecuted Martha Stewart. Of course, that's been in the news lately because Trump is floating the idea that he might pardon her.
  9. I thought it was pretty boring. I kept waiting for more and it never happened. The historical aspect of it was kind of interesting, but the writing was dull.
  10. I laughed when Natasha Bertrand said the last time we saw Melania was during the North Korea hostage exchange. I actually thought that was funnier than when Bill said the last time we saw her was with Trump and a shovel. I really enjoyed this weeks show and the guests.
  11. I agree 100%. I enjoyed it too. She does stuff the other hosts don't do and I love her for it. Loved her snark about recording everything, even stuff you really didn't want anyone else to know.

    MSNBC

That's funny. I'm just the opposite. I love the first twenty minutes of her show. It's my easy to take history lesson of the day and usually stuff I didn't know. I love how she connects the dots on things from the past to what's going on today. Once her guests show up I could tune out, although I'm glad she usually just has one guest at a time. I hate the panels that the other host have on (well, Lawrence is an exception that)..
  13. I know. She looked like she was ready to call it a night and and Lawrence kept talking and talking. But then she did jump in at the end like she usually does. She's such a pro.
  14. I actually thought Rachel's interview was very interesting. She had the advantage of the memos that were just leaked. His previous interviews just talked about stuff in his book. No one else asked him about the Loretta Lynch thing. No one else asked him about his description (in the book) of Rudy Guiliani. In his interview, Stephen Colbert had asked Comey about his statement about Hillary Clinton and Comey seemed very uncomfortable in his answers. I'm glad Rachel didn't take up more time with rehashing that. I found her interview with Comey fascinating . She talked about things I hadn't heard before, but I didn't see all his previous interviews.
  15. Colbert asked Comey if he voted in 2016 and he said no, I was the FBI director. Maybe he was kidding but he didn't look like he was. Seemed strange to me. Maybe he just didn't want to answer that. I think Comey is an honorable man but he was pretty defensive about the HC email thing. Stephen was right. Don't do the thing you know is bad vs the thing that might be bad in the future. Comey had no way of knowing something might be catastrophic later. It wasn't his job to placate Senators.
  16. It's always about Alex. Yes, I thought that was worse than the stupid Lisa interview. She can't be gone fast enough for me.
  17. I'm so glad Mark won. Lane looked like a sore loser at the end and he never clapped for Mark's DD. Blanc is spelled the french way so I can see why some might pronounce it Blonk, although most people say Blank. I have no idea how Mel pronounced it.,
  18. I also didn't think they should have accepted just Mary Tyler Moore. They were asking for the name of the show. I'm just glad he didn't win.
  19. I was so hoping that lady with the green hair (Kate, I guess) would wager nothing for FJ. (And I liked how her hair matched her outfit.) I wouldn't know meme if it came up to me and bit me.
  20. I'm a big fan of Elvis Cole/Joe Pike. The female character in Demolition Angel does appear in a couple of the later Elvis books. I've read them all except for the newest one.
  21. They say be careful what you wish for and now I know what they mean. I was actually rooting for Rob today. Hope Alan is a one and done. Good grief, even Rob's smiley face is better than that atrocity that Alan wrote for his name. I had no clue for FJ.
  22. I would like to see the wrinkle in time where we go back to yesterday's game and have Damien not bet it all on his DD (or be right on his DD) and then move ahead of smiley Rob and win the game. I'm so tired of Rob starting in the middle and I hate runaways.
  23. I hated Lincoln In The Bardo. Yes, the style was totally off-putting (a good way to describe it!)
  24. Haha. That's what I was going to say. I had to laugh when Alex pronounced it that way.
  25. question: what is one of the worst fashion trends ever? answer: the cold shoulder top. In spite of her fashion faux pas I was rooting for middle contestant (sorry don't remember her name). But I'm ok with the new champ. I had no clue for FJ.
