  1. Went on a date. No spark. She knew it, I knew it. I offered myself as a friend, and she seemed cool with it. While I didn't talk as much as her and I knew the odds of us being a couple were long (which I had an inkling going into the date), I had a good time. Well, as good a time as we could have trying to watch dragon boat racing in heavy rain. I did give her my hand in support as she walked on a fence to avoid mud. I went through it. Never thought I'd have to wear boots. But I didn't go into a massive funk afterward about not finding somebody that could really did me. Seriously, though, I feel good for going. The bad news is that I don't have any prospects, and I kinda hate getting OKC for e-mailing me candidates every other day. "Wow! More chances to pitch woo into the abyss?!? I am not worthy!!!" ETA: Today's e-mail gave me profiles of two queer women. I'm not saying I understand the sexual spectrum, but I feel that OKC is misinterpreting what I'd like to see in a woman.
  2. I forgot to mention: Toonami will be running the first season starting tonight at 2:30 a.m. Relive the fun of Unfortunate Chin Boy, Titan Knockoff, Piccolo Knockoff, and a bad dude who just wants to be a hero for fun.
  3. @atlantaloves . . . I watched. "Quack Market" is a phrase that's so stupid and so smart at the same time. Also: same-sex dog marriage and a pug in a suit. Yeah, I know, the bits about abandonment, addiction, and wanting to move on were more important . . . but pug in a suit. And random tangents. Like I said, this isn't the best animated show, but it's far fro the worst, and it'll probably wind up as something for those wanting to go deeper into good animation (as opposed to being a "cult classic").
  4. I took it as a gag, not much else. ETA: Here’s a sketch of Domino I got about a month ago. ?

Headline: “K-POP BAND TO PLAY AT CITI FIELD” Below: “They Want To Suffer; It Was This or Pyongyang” ETA in case the lack of baseball is a concern: “You want to play here? Well, unless Yankee Stadium gets swallowed up, I’d say Citi Field would be free in October.”
  6. Maybe this was before Patty and Marcy came over to the table, and Franklin was placed between them to prevent awkward moments. Is it bad to say Franklin never registered with me at all? Good night from the all-stars, with Desi and Dulce throwing shade on stuff that’s worst to look at than (concealed) breastfeeding.
  7. Quick hit-and-run: Beerus cosplay! So cute.
  8. There will be a marathon on September 4, but it's not FLCL: Progressive. Nope, we'll be getting My Hero Academia from 10 p.m.-4:30 a.m.
  9. Am I out of line in thinking Melissa McCarthy spoofing on "Spicey" might have made his "comeback" possible? SNL could've had a cast member play Spicer. Hell, Kate McKinnon would've been good, since she does everybody these days (I kid because I love). But Lorne outsourced the gig, and Melissa's portrayal was a hit. And now he can sell his book, and people might be, "Well, he wasn't outright evil!" Bright side: we get to see correspondents rip on him, and the spectacle that is two people playing the president astride a unicorn. Sean, what the fucking fuck were you on when you wrote this?!? I think the TDS folks have the edge, on account that Sam doesn't always breaks out her B-Squad (not derogatory; just trying to find a marketable nickname). But when they show up, they represent so well. Space Force? Well, if the president offers to lead that personally, maybe I'd give it a chance. But he'd have to dress up like that chorus.
  10. Watching it now. “Donorrhea” was inspired, and “gonorrhea” isn’t recognized by my iPad. That’s followed by Lewis Black and adult summer camps. No mention about baseball fantasy camps existing for ages, but it’s golden . . . especially Lewis pitching his “Wor-Ker-Bee” camp for kids. “Don’t spend the summer sitting on your ass! Spend it wiping MY ass!!” Classic.
  11. I'm going to bed. Here are essays that I wrote that included the "CT Redemption" angle from 2013 and 2016. I like the guy, I feel that Veronica should put in more effort with the sizable prize on the line and the Clydesdale she's been given, but I don't want him to backslide into douchedom. I like him, but I can't overlook his faults.

What is his problem? This was what I saw: “I rang every doorbell but one!” “Fuck, don’t tell me . . . “ “The Mets!” “Of course you wouldn’t. Who would?” I forgot to check in. Maybe he’ll be dealt in a few days. “We were always going to trade him, but we wanted his last memory as a Met to be a win with plenty of offensive support.”
  13. Maybe because Veronica has a history of excelling, while Derrick might as well be a giant weight around Tori’s neck? That’s all I got.
  14. Point of clarification: the mother sacrificed her humanity so the baby could live. Then Dio turned her, and she ate the kid. That was funny in a very horrifying way.

Bartolo Colon is now the winningest Latin American pitcher. Bonus: the suitable-for-framing line drive snag to end his night. ETA: Jayson Werth to Mets: “Anyone but you.” ???

    @kariyaki . . . I know that was the music for JJ Putz. #RandomSynapseFire
  17. *sigh* I really, really, really, really, REALLY need CT not to relapse to becoming a dick. I've defended the guy for a long time. I thought that his change wasn't merely for the cameras. But now he's at Redemption House, he's slipping . . . because of Veronica. Please don't think I'm all "blame the victim." If you've seen Veronica's "career," you'll understand why I dislike her. She has the most Challenge wins of any woman, but that could have been considered prehistory*. And she basically gave a Beth-level performance. It's not like she HAS to contribute to the exercise montage, but I feel she needed to step up. Right now, I'm hoping they sleep it off, have a civilized conversation, hug it out, avoid Paulie at all costs, and win the next Redemption mission. I will say this: out of the veterans that have recently returned, I can say that she's not Shane. Better to make no impact than a negative, bitchy one. Looking at the mission, you can see why CT would be pissed, as he and Verantula fell behind the likes of Jozea and Other Derrick. Because Jozea is a scrub and from Big Brother, I had zero problem with CT trying to psych him out. Big fat "whatever" to most of the episode in general. No matter what happens, we have chaos. Watching "live" on Facebook, I noted that the show is basically like the Chappelle's Show sketch of Making the Band (not the O-Town one), to the point where I expect TJ to send the players off to get fresh breast milk off a woman. The missions just don't matter anymore. The monkeys were cute as they looked on, and I imagined them jacking it accordingly. Johnny interviews about trying to convince Tony that they're on equal terms; meanwhile, I notice you can't see his right hand. And Brad's cliffhanger would be suspenseful if we didn't hear about the end in the news. At least he's blinking. Progress, right? Looking back, it's funny that he got Britni a necklace . . . at least if you remember his final episode in Inferno II. Good times. *ETA: Is it bad of me that I don't think Veronica's three wins are worth much today because of how much tougher the game has become, but I'm perfectly okay with giving Darrell the benefit of the doubt with his four wins at roughly the same time?

I got to hear "Hell's Bells" at Qualcomm Stadium in 2000. Everyone went nuts for Trevor Hoffman, and "IT'S TREVOR TIME" flashed on the scoreboard. I honestly think that song can compete with "Enter Sandman" as goosebump-inducing reliever music.
  19. @Matt K . . . I found it funny. Maybe not a spiritual successor to Children's Hospital, but not a waste of time. The other show was basically a Tim/Eric thing, in the sense that stuff was flung on the walls, and the flingers hoped enough would stick.
  20. Clearing space on the DVR . . . but I might be keeping Art Prison. Absurdist fun. Anybody else watch it? ETA: Tropical Cop Tales should probably not get picked up. That said, it will be picked up. Just a lot of WTF without much beyond the surface.
  21. Which Dio is better: “Phantom Blood” or “Stardust Crusaders”? I go with the former, mostly due to wardrobe. DIO (all caps) is imposing enough to make the Pillar Men look like cupcakes . . . but why all the hearts?
  22. What happens when you expose a TVB fan to Rusty’s God Gas.
  23. I don’t hate Isaac. I mean, I get how he’d rub people the wrong way, but my bar for being classified as an asshole is pretty high thanks to reality shows in general. The only real immediate positive was the reaction from Matt & Akbar.
  24. Nice to see that he president will crash rallies and promote his favorite network. Our situation isn’t as bad as Venezuela . . . but it ain’t good. ?
  25. Rachel is going to be a parent again; her partner is now pregnant.
