  1. i thought Molly was channeling Marge when she went to the hospital room of the deaf guy.  He was crying over his dead partner.  She said was it all worth it, the greed and violence?  He is going to spend the rest of his life in prison.

  2. Yeah, the 4 shots got me.  I think it is more reasonable for a person with no police training to shoot 4 times because of adrenaline, while you'd think an officer of the law and highly trained would show more restraint.

I think he got away with it.

  3. I don't know if that's normal, but it is kinda funny using a fictional television show for real-life reference!

A prison built near me has been empty for several years because of state funding, political tie ups, blah blah. It is now starting to be filled with prisoners, and the news says more than 1,100 civilian jobs will open up once the prison is going full steam. So I'd say yeah, lots of civilians are employed by the state prison system.

Saber do you live near  Thomson, Illinois?  Just curious.

  4. Just could not feel sorry for her, she is weak and not very bright but she did not care.  But the lax rules and her superiors deserve a lot of the blame. Heck they did warn her about being too close but did nothing about it.  What a failed system!

  5. On Swamp Murders a young woman is murdered and the police think it was the no-good boyfriend that did it.  No proof.  They wait ten years and now can use DNA. Does not match the boyfriend and one investigator said, he still may have been involved-- he also passed a lie detector and they thought they just asked the wrong questions.

Turns out it was another guy..  Tunnel vision and you harass a guy for ten years.  The big hazard of thinking it's "this guy".

  6. That one was even more fucked up, Suz.  They did get surveillance cameras and saw a "shadowy figure".  Then they found the daughter dead in her room one morning, and are still fighting to get the manner of death changed to homicide.  The coroner & cops don't agree with the mother ...

This is a really bad show, with really bad re-enactments, and unintelligible storytelling.  Right up ID's alley.

This one was really bad.  Why did she think someone murdered her daughter?  There was no one person that they suspected.  It was sad that her daughter died but I really think it was a suicide and the mother could not handle it.

  7. Ward Weaver Jr. didn't raise Ward III. And I thought at the end of "Lost Highway"

a DNA test proved that Ward Jr. is not Ward III's biological father

    ?

I watched that end twice and the son of Ward III was not his, can't remember his name but was glad it wasn't Ward.

  8. i have found this season of Evil Kin riveting.  The last episode was about Ward Weaver and his son also Ward who committed murder and rape.  It raises the question about nurture and nature.  Other shows have as well.  Maybe there are bad people who are born that way?  I don't know but it is disturbing.

  9. Watched 2 minutes, was overcome by nausea, turned it off.  Can't stand to watch or listen to any of them. Thanks to those who stuck it out so I can read your feedback. Sounds just as horrible as expected.

I came in the middle and had no desire to go back and watch.  The sit down was a bore.  They are so delusional.

  10. I became conscious this morning to an episode of Deadly Women, as my brain began to function, I was listening to the Frankie Silver case. Took place in the Appalachian Mountains, Kentucky, I think, late 1800s, I think. It is an interesting story and if anyone wants to know more about it, Sharyn McCrumb's "The Ballad of Frankie Silver" tells an excellent story. Ms McCrumb's Appalachian books are among my favorites ever. She is a wonderful story weaver. But if you like her, skip the Elizabeth MacPhearson books, not her greatest.

Love her books.  The Ballad series was very good.  I even liked her other ones.  It was also a very interesting case.

  11. Today's pet peeve: shoddy workmanship. Years (and years and years) ago, my parents bought a glider rocking chair for my birthday. I'd noticed it felt a little wonky the past few days and made a mental note to check it. This morning, my sister accidentally hit it with her wheelchair, and one side of the support collapsed. When I turned the chair upside down to investigate, I discovered that on the left side, there were 3 screws holding two blocks of wood together. On the opposite side, there were 5. Plus a broken-off screw on the floor under the chair. I poked a nail in all 5 holes and found that all 5 had broken-off screws embedded in the wood. I surmised that before the chair left the factory, the original 3 screws broke off (perhaps the chair was dropped?) and instead of finding a way to remove them, someone just added 2 new screws.

I am charging the drill and tomorrow, I will add 3 new holes for new screws, and then, for good measure, I'll add 3 more on the side that hasn't broken yet. Sheesh.

SO TRUE, appliances don't last very long either and at Sears they told us a fridge lasts about 10 years now.  I could go on.

  12. Dateline's "Secrets in the Desert" is on right now. It, to me, was such a travesty of justice that I could not watch again. In my effort to spell Bill Macumber's name properly, in order to rant about said travesty, I found some very troubling info. While it doesn't negate his trials and tribulations, I feel sad.

I'm with you.  I think a lot of people who watch ID and frequent this thread, really want to see justice served.  I think it would be so hard to come out of prison after so many years and function in this world.  That does not excuse what he has done(allegedly).

  13. I sort of had a problem with the testimony of the young friend who said he knew what a gun sounded like because he had gone to camp.  This changed his story and the prosecutor said that their stories were the strongest.  Also, he had been inappropriate with the women but did not have an affair.

Did he gain much money?  I did not hear about a big inheritance or life insurance policy.   It seemed like they only looked at the husband.  I just did not think there was enough evidence to convict.

  14. Had not seen this before.  I have to say the evidence was weak and so I was happy with the outcome.  Of course if there is more info we did not get.  I think the police  decided on him and never looked at anyone else.  I. however did not see any "Perry Mason" type moments.  It was good the people came forward about the white vehicle.

  15. Wicked Attraction and Deadly Sins.

Wicked Attractions would be very appropriate for her story- so evil, offering up her sister.  That is why I could not watch that show.  Two people are way more evil than one in most cases.  Also the assertion that if these two people had not met, the crimes may not have occurred.

  16. I watched this version and enjoyed it.  It took awhile for me to get into the story.  I have re watched.  I also started watching P75 and at first was struck by how loud and dramatic it was.  I have watched over half of it so far and am enjoying it for what it is.  I prefer P15 Ross and Demelza.  P75's Ross over acts a little bit and is rather prickly though his scar is more realistic.

I like the new one better for many reasons, it is paced better the scenery and music is so much better.  I just found a lot of the P75's

"characters" like Jud over done and not funny.  P15 Ross seems to fit in better with the miners and is kinder in general.  I don't like the way Ross P75 treats Demelzas brothers.  D and R's relationship is also more loving and some of the scenes were quite steamy.  I may have a slight crush on Turner.  So I am biased.

  17. That was an odd case.  I guess I just thought the family was so adamant that the daughter had done it.  Their own flesh and blood, it was hard for me to feel bad for them.  Glad I am not part of that family.

  18. This Pet Peeve is from crime shows were people are talking about 'victims of crimes. When describing the 'victim' they always say....

"she would light up the room" or "whenever she entered the room people would turn and notice her"

    No. She didn't.  It's such a cliche.

I watch a lot of true crime shows and this does happen a lot, when it is a young person it doesn't bother me so much, but with some people who were involved in all kinds of questionable stuff it bothers me.

My pet peeve is when people watch these shows or trial -like Jodie Arias- who had borderline personality disorder, they start saying everybody and their dog has it.  Same way with sociopaths and narcissists.  I can see if someone has committed a crime but in everyday life?  Unless you are trained or know the person really well, you don't know. I just find it annoying.

  19. Aurora. Deadly Women was my first too.  I had stumbled across it and it and it did scare me.  I think Wicked Attractions was on after.  That show was too much.  People who kill together really, really scare me because if someone loses their nerve someone else will do it.

Also, one person will egg on another to do violent things.  The pack mentality or something.  We can be ugly as a group.

I like that they show crimes from the UK and other places.  Snapped has been on for years and stiil no shortage,

  20. I know Deadline Crime with Tamron Hall has its own site.  The last one I watched was about a mother who had not seen her two boys taken at 2 and 4 years old by her husband.  They seemed so similar. Both stories were full of despair and heartbreak for the spouse who did things legally.

I did not know what to make of Mom's personality disorder but I do think there was something to it.  Just sad.
