  1. Last Christmas is doing so-so/underwhelming in the US but seems to be doing better (overall) worldwide. Could this movie be considered a hit/moderate success?
  2. Olivia Munn's character seemed like she was shoe-horned into the show. What was her purpose?
  3. The Oviedo scene of him getting hanged/lynched made me uncomfortable. I watched the episode on Demand and was able to FF it. Only then did I realize he was saved. Even when I went back and watched it again, I was still uneasy and it was a hard watch. I've been tolerant of Lady the King's Mother all season long up until 2 episodes ago, but yesterday I was ready for her character to die (and I want to emphasize it's the character depiction of Margaret Beaufort that I detested, not the real woman, LOL). Margaret Pole -- I still like her, but she acts put-upon at times and I find that an unlikeable trait. Why on earth was she merciful to Margaret Beaufort?? Let her get her own cup of water! Catherine and Harry/King Henry VIII. I know most of their depiction in this series was fictitious, but their final scene got my interest in a way that none of their previous scenes together have. Their marriage is starting on a foundation of lies and deceit. I cannot wait for Spanish Princess 2: Diary of a Mad Marriage.
  4. Question -- Do most movie studios rely on overseas sales to turn a profit, or is the expectation that domestic sales should do it and any overseas money is icing on the cake? At what point is a movie considered a flop? I'm noticing that Detective Pikachou (however you spell it) hasn't broke even domestically and Men In Black, Dark Phoenix and Shaft likely won't break even domestically either.
  5. Does anyone know how many more episodes are left? I feel like it's only 2 more, maybe 3. I kinda like this show in spite of its faults, but the pace . . . the pace. Maybe I'm ready for the real drama to start, but that'll likely happen in Spanish Princess 2: The Later Years. And I'm gonna take back what I said about this being my favorite incarnation of Margaret Beaufort. She has overstayed her welcome.
  6. We're getting a 2nd installment of Catherine of Aragon? That's probably for the best because there is so much more story to tell and they are still in the very early stages of the Catherine/Henry VIII story.
  7. I watch this show to get my Tudor fix. I'm fascinated with all things Tudors and would like to know more about the Plantagenets. I know this series is highly fictionalized, and I'm OK with that. But this episode was my least favorite of the season (so far). Catherine acts as if she's entitled to the Queen of England title. Harry-- I don't like him because I know what's coming, LOL. Maggie Pole-- try as I might to like her and root for her, she should have just told Lady Mother of the King that she believed Catherine consummated her marriage to Arthur. It's obvious she didn't But for someone who's been tormented by the Tudors since she was a child, she should have just protected her status and family and told the Lady Mother "her" truth and what she wanted to hear. I like Lina but I'm tired of her running hot and cold with Oveido. Rosa is a dumb, love-struck teenager. I'm hoping we get to see Meg in Scotland. Meg is probably my favorite Tudor at the moment. Lady Mother of the King has never been a likeable character for me in any of the Starz TV shows. But I think I tolerate her a lot more in Spanish Princess than in the other TV shows. I think for me it's because of the actress.
  8. Could that book be the next series and not The Other Boleyn? I've always been fascinated by the Anne/Henry VIII story but I'd rather see a TV show focusing on Mary, Margaret and an older Katherine, even if it's Phillipa Gregory's skewed interpretation. I'm confused as to how Margaret is related to Mary Queen of Scots,
  9. I'm not surprised at Dumbo's poor/lackluster domestic showing. I don't know if that movie was ill-timed, ill-conceived or it didn't have a big name draw to lure moviegoers to the theatre? As I'm looking at Endgame's numbers so far it puts a smile on my face but I'm stunned (just stunned) at how exceptionally well The Force Awakens did. I don't know if Endgame can overtake that domestic number. I was reminded that The Force Awakens came out during Christmastime and thus generated a lot of ticket sales as many people were off work/out of school. But, I do believe Endgame will overtake Avatar soon in the world wide/all-time total.
  10. I've watched all of PG's adapted TV shows, and I recognize they are trash and not historically accurate. But they're irresistible. Or I have low standards. My biggest issue with The White Queen was that I kinda hated the protagonist. Elizabeth Woodville got on my nerves and I wonder how much of that was the writing or Rebecca Ferguson's acting? Initially I really liked The White Princess, but Elizabeth of York became too cold. I didn't like her in the end and hated her justifying her brother and Teddy's deaths. And I could not NOT see Catelyn Stark as Our Lady the King's Mother. But I always found Jodie Comer very appealing and thought she was a great actress in a bad TV show. This was before she broke out in Killing Eve. So far (it's only been 1 episode, LOL) I like Spanish Princess but I wonder what Charlotte Hope can really bring to this role? I find myself drawn to Stephanie Levi-Johnson as Lina. And I kinda dig the new Margaret Beaufort and Maggie Pole. Arthur has the worst wig I've ever seen.
  11. I guess Richard Pole miraculously gained feeling/control/movement of his hand? It was immobile for all of The White Princess.
  12. I might wear some Depends. Never in my life had I needed to wear any, but for this Avengers movie clocking at 3 hours, why not?
  13. Adding to the chorus that Love to the Rescue was an enjoyable movie. This is the first Hallmark movie of 2019 where I liked both the leads, the story, the kids and the ending.

    Us (2019)

I saw this movie yesterday. Walked INTO the movie so excited and psyched . . . walked OUT afterwards so confused and disappointed. I had trouble following the plot and turned to YouTube videos to hear about analyses, theories, etc. I wish I loved this movie like so many others in this topic thread. Maybe I should go see it again? If I do it will be a few weeks out. I am still processing this movie. That said, Lupita Nygong'o OWNED her role and was stellar. Winston Duke was a great presence. I thought the little boy playing Jason was very effective and adorable. Ultimately, I am very happy for Jordan Peele and the success of this movie. It's always good to see a movie break records.
  15. I saw Captain Marvel today. I liked it but I didn't love it (I need to see it again). However I'm glad I saw it because I am stoked about the next Avengers movie and Carol's role in it. I thought Brie did a fabulous job and I was moved by her scenes with Maria, Monica and Fury (never have I loved Fury as much as I did in this movie!) Small quibble-- the use of 90's music took me out of the scenes, especially the "Just A Girl" bit. I did get tripped up by the Tesseract (and still am). I was so convinced that the Tesseract Goose threw up/spit up would be used to un-dust those that were dusted in Avengers 3. I didn't realize until I read this thread that said Tessaract is already on Thanos' gauntlet. I thought that the Tesseract that Goose spit up was after Fury got dusted.

    Us (2019)

Planning to see this opening weekend!
  17. I'm watching One Winter Weekend in preparation for One Winter Proposal and I can't get over how much different Taylor Cole looks in this movie compared to Christmas in Homestead.
  18. The 2018 batch of Christmas movies was a bit rough for me. Reluctantly, here is my Top 6. I don't have HMM on my cable package (sob!) so that's why all of those movies are not on my list. 1) Christmas Everlasting 2) Entertaining Christmas 3) Welcome to Christmas 4) Christmas at Evergreen: Letters to Santa 5) Christmas Joy 6) A Gingerbread Christmas (had to watch this 2x b/c the first time it wasn't holding my interest). Movies I tried to watch but couldn't finish due to disinterest/boredom/etc,: 1) Christmas in Love 2) Reunited at Christmas 3) Road to Christmas 4) A Majestic Christmas Movies I didn't bother to watch: 1) Shoe Addict's Christmas 2) Christmas at Graceland Movie I need to give another chance: 1) Christmas at Pemberley (I normally don't like Jessica Lowndes movies but in hindsight maybe this one wasn't THAT bad) 2) Mingle All the Way
  19. I had no idea Black Panther eclipsed Avengers in box office totals! Bravo! I am so happy and proud of that movie's success!
  20. Black Panther scored 12 nominations from the Critics Choice Awards, including Michael B. Jordan for Best Supporting Actor, Best Picture and Best Acting Ensemble. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/2019-critics-choice-awards-nominations-list-full-1166282/item/best-supporting-actor-critics-choice-nominations-2019-1166399
  21. Did anyone see Christmas Everlasting? I liked this movie a lot and I'm glad it aired on the regular Hallmark Channel and not HMM (which I do not have). I haven't been too impressed with the 2018 batch of Hallmark Christmas movies. Granted it's still early, but Christmas Everlasting is easily my favorite of this (very) short season. I tried to watch Christmas at the Palace but I didn't like the plot or the actors. I like Nikki DeLoach and tried to watch Reunited At Christmas with enthusiasm but the energy of the movie was too stilted for me and I ended up not finishing it. Luckily for me, A Dream of Christmas is re-airing tonight and I plan to watch it AGAIN for the 50th time. I need to give Christmas at Evergreen II a second chance. l actually liked what I saw but I got distracted and didn't see a good chunk of it. Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe was a bit blah to me but it wasn't dreadful. I wish I could have seen Darcy get back at her co-workers. I do wish this movie had more elements of Pride and Prejudice. I am trying to like Lacey Chabert Hallmark movies but it's a struggle for me. I legit think it's the scripts, LOL.
  22. Not a dumb question at all. You make a great point actually. More and more people PVR/DVR stuff and not watch it live. I'm a bit of a dinosaur in that regard. I watch what I can "live."
  23. This explains why CCB appears to be the "face" of Hallmark. Interesting. I'm sure her newest movie will enter the Top 5 easily. I was checking out the other ratings for this current batch of Hallmark movies. It appears Road to Christmas didn't exactly set the world on fire.
