  1. Gawd everyone with a shred of integrity gets destroyed. Lucas is the latest sacrifice. Perhaps that's what the shows message is. Washington is irrevocably morally unrecoverable, and those that even attempt to expose it are unmercifully squashed. I suppose they cannot have the walls close in on Frank too soon if they want the show to go on for at least 5 seasons, but for the love of small mercies please let there at least be some token victories for the good guys, that is if there are any left.
  2. Frank is obviously a sociopath. He has no empathy for anyone around him. His wife is just as fucked up. I think the writers are trying to portray Lucas as the protagonist aren't they? Frank doesn't know about him, so he can fly under the radar for the time being. I don't get why no one even questions the way Zoe's body lurches forward into the train. Wouldn't there be a more thorough investigation by the police and/or transit authority? At one point she is at a 45 degree angle being launched forwards. No one jumps like that. And yet not even Lucas notices or even wants to study the video further. And he even has suspicions. Doesn't make sense. Yeah I wonder if they killed off Zoe' character more because Kate Mara wanted to leave for some other opportunity. Because it was a major hit to the show in general. It was playing out like a Underwood/Barnes duel that could have been stretched out for a while. It was developing into an interesting conflict for her between her ambition and lust for being close to power, and working on the story with her colleagues. She really carried the role well. I'm going to miss her character.
  3. Just finished season one. Yeah, Stamper is just as evil as Frank. Setting up that poor girl. I had a feeling it was all too altruistic of Stamper to be saving some poor white trash and putting her up and thinking he wanted to help her to get out of hooking. Then he makes her screw a john for his own purposes. And it doesn't help that the john "kills himself" after. I was certain Claire taped that pregnant ex-employee. It was written exactly the way it should have been for that to happen. The way the woman finally, right at the end, blurted out how she would lie for certain things. I was totally expecting a shot next of Claire outside turning, with a slow smile forming on her face as she pulls out a digital recorder from her pocket. The fact that she didn't makes me question the height of my admiration for her cunning. I like the idea of the journalists all catching up to Underwood in a parallel storyline. It can't be that predictable though. I suspect that Zoe will break away from that pack, maybe even sabotage the story, and renew her vow of allegiance to Frank once he becomes VP. Protecting such an inside lead right at the top of the Washington food chain will be too appetizing for her to deny. And now I can jump right into season 2 and answer some of those questions. I love Binge watching!! :)
  4. What I heard was that he thought he had "lost it". Not that he thought it was in the fire. And if he thought it was in the ashes of the fire, why wouldn't he be searching even more in that area? If they were standing on it while they searched and that's why they didn't find it then they are even more keystone cops than I thought. They all should have helped, getting down on their knees, and scouring the whole area, especially around the fire pit, IMO. Anyways, I don't think I will ever be surprised by the haplessness of American survivor contestants. Season after season goes by without anyone (almost anyone) learning how to make a fire from scratch before going on the show. Also, something else that I would learn; how to make a simple animal snare or trap to catch small animals. The advantage you'd give your team, especially if you didn't have fishing gear, in giving them steady protein would be invaluable.
  5. So let me get this straight. They find the flint right by the fire pit? So wtf happened? Jon doesn't find it in his pocket so he announces he's lost the flint. So everyone, including Jon, just must have accepted that sad fact as irreversible and never even tried to look for it. I mean beside the fire pit would be the first place to look if they had even tried no? They don't deserve the fishing gear. Good riddance to Drew. That was enjoyable I must admit, watching him throw a challenge to get rid of the snakes and he's the one that has to slither off.
  6. I was thinking along the same lines. "They" could be the Pakistani intelligence and Haggani was a thorn they couldn't take care of themselves for the political backlash. But who knows? "they" could be just about anybody from any side. Any side the writers want to steer "them". There is more Quinn could have done in that intersection. Once he had Carrie sitting tight and Sandy was a lost cause, he backed the car up by pushing through the crowd. Makes sense because no one is going to voluntarily be driven over. And even if he does run one or two over...who cares? He'd already shot two of them already anyways. What I wonder is why he didn't pull this move sooner? If not just after the small mob was banging on his vehicle then surely after the first one had managed to smash a window and reach inside. They were in a large powerful car. One could also assume it was beefed up and shielded if it was a CIA security vehicle. I assumed they were safe once all three were inside, and so they should have been if the script wasn't written to make him seem slow on the take there. Also I found it absurd that a tall American blond (she wore her scarf quite loosely) woman walking around by herself on the street in Islamabad Pakistan, would not be approached by either children or other beggars, other curious people, or angry locals who would be upset towards any white westerner because of foreign policy including drones. The precedent of that general attitude was set in the first episode. Managing to evade all company and weave her way into an upstairs bathroom in the same building (or near) as Aayal is having coffee and then wailing loud enough to lure him into her seductive arms is a whole other level.
  7. Yes, I agree with others on STOP with the replays of what just happened...and/or what is going to happen...right before, and right after...EVERY bloody commercial break. How long is the actual show with all the rehashing and teasing...20 minutes long? Maybe all that time wasted could be say, focused on describing the actual food. I also cannot stand getting a summary of what I am about to watch RIGHT BEFORE I WATCH IT. This is nothing new for a reality show but Ramsay's shows take it to a whole other level. Same thing happens on Kitchen NIghtmares and The F Word. I never watch episodes live so thank gawd I can zip past all this wasted footage. And don't give me that BS that these contestants are the best cooks they can find. How is it we can get so much more knowledgeable cooks on MasterChef...a show featuring HOME COOKS?!! Even the MasterChef Junior cooks know more than these stupid donkeys. Its also annoying to watch American reality shows in general and have to put up with so many arrogant ignorant asses. I'm not saying all Americans are like that but its got to say something when you compare any international reality franchise...Masterchef.....Next Top Model....Top Chef.....Project Runway/Catwalk...and the American ones are the only ones where most are assholes only looking out for #1, getting into trash talk and borderline physical confrontation, while those filmed in other countries mostly try and help each other and get along fine. I suspect American TV producers "know what is best for us" and purposely choose confrontational and crazy people thinking that that is what we want. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just taking Masterchef for example....I learn from and enjoy so much more the Australian version, where I get a good feeling that these people are there because they actually love food instead of loving the spotlight. They actually feel good for their competitors when they do well....that would be a shocking sight for American viewers.
  8. After reading the excerpts from even what he has said just a few months ago, I am baffled why Survivor would even consider John Rocker. Its one thing to put on a Russel Hanz who no one even knew before that, but to put someone in your show that has a proven racist, bigoted, sexist attitude? And it is print for anyone to see? My gawd, imagine if he had somehow won! Shame on Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst. Is there anyone likeable cast on this show?
  9. And again.....no one, not even the firefighters, learn how to make fire before coming on the show. And I agree with someone upthread that said how come 7 people, if they really got down on their knees and looked hard, couldn't find the flint eventually? I mean it seems that they have lots of time to look. And again....someone that has a clue to the HII refuses or is too lazy to look for it!!! Seriously Val? Water well....North....7. Some seasons the clue is so damn cryptic its almost impossible to figure out. This was so easy even a numbskull like John Rocker could find it in what seems like a couple of minutes. It didn't even seem like he dug much, like it was just sitting there just under a sprinkling of dirt. How could Val not place that task as her #1 priority? She screwed herself and her hubby. And again.....they put on the show some mega-rich athlete that doesn't need the money and is usually big and muscular. This almost guarantees he won't be allowed to win by a jury if he ever gets that far. And chances are he'll be voted off anyways when its time to get rid of the physical threats. Its a waste of space. Some eager average Survivor fan would give an arm and leg to be on the show. sigh...but I'll keep watching. I don't like anyone yet either though
  10. I too am a little late to the finale party. I'd say Piper's tip on Alex was done mostly because as she put it, "you're all I have left". If a powerful drug lord wants you dead, prison is probably one of the most dangerous places to be, so "keeping her safe" is not even a consideration from her. She knew that this was it, the connection to her last and only love interest was just going to vanish forever. That's when the crazy 14 year old Nancy Drew maniac inner Piper did the only thing that could stop it. Alex should be pissed. But doesn't this more or less even the score for Alex's betrayal in the first place? Which was kinda major, and the whole reason Piper ever ended up in jail and her life ruined. Daya/John; I don't know why the producers want to drag us through their story any longer. Both of them are stupid and needlessly create drama in each of their cases causing repercussions and more problems. And its all so easy. Daya could order the DNA test, (even if puzzlingly no one else does). That test would show Pornstache isn't the daddy….that's all. So that cuts him out of the future right there. Then they just wait out her sentence, with discretion, and then go have a family. I'm sure Daya's grandmother would look after the baby until she was out. John could even drop in and lend his support off work. Keep everything on the downlow until she is out, then its not up to anyone else who John hooks up with. Especially with a free woman...and of course her baby, who looks remarkably like her "stepdad". A baby who never even has to know John isn't officially regarded as her biological father. One thing that bugged. The sirens at the end during the scene of Rosa driving off into the sunset. No police cars, just faint sirens. But the implication is that they are not that far behind. That kinda ruined my made-up ending where Rosa gets away somewhere safe to live out her last few weeks away from the place she hates so much. Whether she makes it to a family or friends home who takes her in, or just takes a dirt road and finds an abandoned cottage somewhere and breaks in. Anything but being dragged back after having such a glimpse of the outside and a taste of freedom so close to the end.
