  1. UP is playing It Had To Be You tonight at 9pm. It's one of my favorites
  2. So much pushing of Mal in the movie and the trending song is Aubrey's
  3. Wasn't it so nice all the evil adults stayed in their homes when the barrier opened. Descendants is a good concept at the basis of it. I would like Disney to revisit it in a YA setting in the future.
  4. Like the writers were trying to send messages paralleling immigration issues but this was not the movie for that. There were attempted murders on the other side of the barrier.
  5. Also one thing I hated about the ending was all this talk about them going back to see their abusive parents who treated them like garbage. We're going to pretend most of the villains on the isle weren't horribly bad people who deserved to be locked up? Audrey got a slap on the wrist when she needs therapy. She held onto that hate for a few years.
  6. Tribute could've been a little longer. I thought I was gonna end up crying over Cameron but I spent most of this movie annoyed. D2 was so much better. I felt way too invested in this movie after 4 years. There was again way too much focus on Mal. Everyone else was getting coupled up but there was no mention of Lonnie in this movie so Jay just got a bromance. Harry was clearly crushing on Uma but they have him flirt with every girl he sees and then she dodges his cheap kiss at the end and immediately tries to make a move on Audrey. Evie was wasted as peace maker for most of the movie. The fight scenes were lame. There were so many songs but most were not memorable other than the ending one. They should've had the OG villains return. Hades was so pointless. I didn't care about Mal's daddy issues and Hades wasn't even a villain.
  7. Thus far we're not even 45 mins into the movie and so far there's too many songs and none of them are good.
  8. Keeping the books to movie suggestions going. I'm hearing great things about Too Sweet to Be Good by KM Jackson. It releases this Tuesday and is described as very Hallmarkeque. Romance with familiar feeling characters, set in a quaint town and no sex scenes. Synopsis Between the bustling local bakery, helpful neighbors, and down-home wisdom, Sugar Lake is a delicious place to call home--and love is the sweetest risk . . . Alexandrea Gale put her acting career on hold to help keep her family's bakery in business--and gave it a few eye-catching updates while she was at it. To earn money to return to New York, she puts her designs skills to work with a job renovating a once thriving local vintage theater. But Alexandrea didn't bargain on the owner's business-minded grandson fighting her every step of the way--or proving so unexpectedly irresistible . . . As the new president of his family's real estate business, Kellen Kilborn feels that selling the theater is the only way to do right by the grandmother who helped raise him. He just can't take a risk on Alexandrea's inventive ideas--but he also can't walk away from her warm-hearted free spirit. As troubling decisions threaten to tear them apart, can they create a way to turn their dreams into the sweetest of futures together?
  9. So lifetime is sticking with Melissa,Tia, and Kyla again this year. I hope they don't become like Hallmark where we see the same actors over and over. Though at least Keisha has a lead role this time.
  10. A Princess in Theory was optioned https://www.fastcompany.com/90277042/frolic-is-positioning-itself-as-the-blumhouse-of-romance
  11. I love when you guys discuss books I'm familiar with. I've been enjoying these black led contemporary romances. I read the second and third Reluctant Royals books. I did not like the 3rd one at all. I felt that one was trying too hard. I enjoyed The Wedding Date and it read like a Netflix rom com. I'm surprised no company has optioned the rights for a film yet. They need to cast someone curvy for Alexa though if they make a movie. Although I enjoyed Intercepted and that was optioned for a series but so far the casting is all wrong. I feel like Lala only decided to produce it and cast herself so she can play the hot wag. She's too old to play Marlee though and Marlee being in her 20s was part of what made the book work. She also can't act either. And since we're talking about books that need to become movies I need Disney to make The Belles a movie. They already own the book rights and they have the streaming service to put it on. The whole time I was reading it I thought about how amazing the vivid descriptions would translate to a movie. I know people loved the first book but I actually preferred the sequel.
  12. I hear more "scandalous" things on the channels aimed at children. That's how watered down Hallmark has become. They pretty much air a new movie almost every weekend of the year and we can count on one hand the movies that feature minority characters as leads. I'm not giving Hallmark any kudos for improvement until they show some genuine effort.
  13. Hallmark Publishing is releasing 2 new Christmas novels in September. Thus far Hallmark's books are as white as the channel but one of them features a latina lead. An Unforgettable Christmas He doesn't remember his past, but could she have a future with him? Angie Lopez, a widowed mom, works hard at Singleton’s Jewelers. Sam Singleton, her often-irritating boss, hardly does anything besides work. He doesn’t spend time with friends and family, even around the holidays. That’s why Angie’s the one who winds up taking care of him when a head injury leaves him with amnesia. Meanwhile, Angie sees a new side of him as he shares Christmas traditions with her, her son Pepe, and her extended family. Angie shares touching, emotional moments with Sam. And it wouldn't be Christmas without a royal fantasy A Royal Christmas Wish Nobody does royal romance or Christmas like Hallmark! Enjoy the enchanting original novel from Lizzie Shane. Jenny knows she isn’t the princess type. Sure, she’s friendly and caring, but with her clumsiness and lack of self-confidence, glass slippers would only make her trip. But a mysterious countess grants Jenny’s one wish, and she finds herself married to this handsome prince! Unfortunately, at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve, her life will go back to normal. In funny and touching ways, Jenny navigates royal traditions the best she can. But even as she grows closer to Dom, the clock is ticking. With love and a little holiday magic, could she somehow make the enchantment last forever? This sweet holiday romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Chicken Shawarma.
  14. I half paid attention to this movie but I cheered when she was talking about how the current dog park was too small and how they deserve the spot for the shopping center and he brought up the ways the shopping center would be beneficial to the community. Put her right in her place.
  15. It had a daycare for lower income families in that shopping center. That benefits the community more than a large dog park.
  16. It was boring as hell. The best part of it was that pink and white dress with the one shoulder and spaghetti strap. I did like when he brought up how the shopping center would better the community. Of course a dog park is of higher value in a Hallmark film.
  17. Finally watched Love, Take Two. Wanted to enjoy it but it had too many tropes I hate. Like them falling in love while he's engaged to someone else. And his mother disliking his fiancee.
  18. You had to rank them on how likely you are to watch a movie with that title. Cold Feet at Christmas was my highest ranked.
  19. UP TV sent me a survey about an upcoming original Christmas movie featuring a runaway bride. Of course she runs away from her wedding only to end up reconnecting with her childhood sweetheart. They asked me which title I liked best. Christmas Wedding Runaway Cold Feet at Christmas A Christmas Bride A Heartfelt Christmas To Merry or Not to Marry
