  1. I don't see many of these ladies getting haircuts or dye jobs for under $40, though. Expert color & styling for the amount of a tip seems like a good deal and a perk to me.
  2. VK may be doing well in camp, but based on her many videos posted over the last year, I find it hard to imagine that she's kicking everyone's ass with the choreography just yet. Even with all those classes she took, there remained something kind of wild, sloppy, or just off when she tries for DCC power style. It's like she puts so much effort into making her moves big and powerful that they are a bit unrefined. It's weird, because she also clearly has strong technical training. Anyway, that has been my view of her dancing for the past year and a half, so my feeling is that, if she's going to really nail the style, she will need to continue to bust butt the rest of training camp and probably her entire rookie year. Has anyone seen VK's kicks? Being so tall, hers will have to be "50 yard line worthy," as Kelli says.
  3. My thinking is that this particular rumor didn't even come from DCC Land and was made up to stir the pot on this forum while we have little concrete knowledge to work with during training camp. That said, I'm sure there's all kinds of whispered and private conversations going on among the vets and among the TCCs regarding VK's possibly privileged fate with the team. I am very curious about how VK has been acting in camp, however, in regards to center-staging herself, presenting herself as entitled to making the team, and being friends with all the vets before camp started. I don't doubt for a moment, however, that VK is working very hard at all this--she has spent thousands of dollars for prep classes the last couple of years and has shown that she is dedicated to (obsessed with?) making this team.
  4. I think Victoria does look prettier with her makeup, and it's not surprising that as a high school student, she didn't have great makeup skills and just piled on too much, in the wrong shades, with awful lashes, with too much tanning, and overly bleached hair. She's been obsessed with the DCC her whole life and was trying to mimic the glam with her untrained hand. She appears to be applying the lessons and feedback in appearance she has received. When Megan M got cut from season 3, part of what K and J discussed with each other was, "How many times do we have to tell her" to lighten up the muddy makeup? So, she'd received feedback and a makeover and didn't run with either. Rainer also said she had the most difficult makeover of the day and he was not entirely satisfied with the results. A gorgeous dancer, though.
  5. I just don't think Maddie has the right look for the triangle, from a production/photo standpoint. Lacey & Kash are gorgeous & Maddie is cute to moderately pretty at best in photos, & less so when she has her gigantic smile on. Heather O is a much better choice visually speaking, I think, as far as face & body goes & how she would look in the triangle with Kash & Lacey. I think Tess could go behind the point.
  6. There was that season with Stephanie Heyman and Lauren as rookies and they showed Kelli and Judy in their final deliberations more in depth than I recall from other seasons--really weighing out the pros and cons of each rookie before making their final choices. I loved it! Would love to see more like that this season. And I always say this, but I'd also love to see group rehearsal lead by group leaders without K and J.
  7. I bet also Rachel and Savannah. I'm in the not loving Savannah's photos camp, but they have been showing her as a favorite on this trip so I think it's reasonable to guess that she'll show up in the calendar. I think Rachel is the hot girl next door and she is looking very fit. A notable difference from her rookie camp! I also love her dancing.
  8. I just love Robin, and clearly her team feels the same (or, really, probably they feel more strongly because they actually know her). I think that she might have been overlooked her first audition because she may not have caught judges' eyes as a glamorous, sexy DCC. She IS beautiful, I think, but even the year she made the team, Kelli was commenting to Judy & their photographer about "how cute she is." So, maybe they saw her as more cute in a young way. She didn't really catch my eye during her first audition (until years later rewatching), but I do remember her from the audition online videos the year she made it. I remember thinking, "she is one of the best dancers in the bunch, but they may not love her look." Then, during camp, I couldn't figure out why I had thought that. Maybe her makeover was more significant than I noticed. I'm with y'all--Robin having to audition twice is a mystery.
  9. So, wait. Did Evan Anderson's sister make it into training camp or no?
  10. Lacey's bikini bottoms also look a little big on her. Not her cutest suit from the angles I'm seeing. Hope she has some better suits on her shoot. What pictures or videos of Tess are making people concerned about her weight? I didn't see any in the thread, though I may have missed them, and her latest Twitter post is a picture from last year. Just curious.
  11. That's a good question about the sideline dances, though, and I've wondered myself if/how each group leader is expected to pick the same choreography for the DJ's music. Also, I enjoyed on the show last season watching them practice that and talking about the challenge as group leaders! But they only showed it in one of the final rehearsals and only one group leader at a time.
  12. I agree that VK needs a makeover to have a shot at having a true DCC look. As others just noted, she wears way too much makeup & the makeup she chooses is not flattering to her skin or features. She also is waaaay too tan-orange, which further ages one's look, and I think she could have a more flattering blonde hair color. She is not fat, but she seems to fluctuate with her level of toning in her midsection and arms, so more consistent healthy eating & exercise might be in the cards for her. (I wish they'd show some consults with Jay again, though I have no desire to watch them get their body fat checked & talk with a doctor @ the results. Just Jay teaching/helping ladies tone up & eat healthier, please, CMT—& no stupid exercise games needed, thanks!) VK's super toothy smile can be a bit much, but I'm not sure she can do anything about it. I will say that the pics posted above of her from tryouts mostly look better than my impression of her from earlier videos etc of her posted here, so maybe she's already getting it in gear. That said, I also will say that when I was looking across the group photo of this year's training camp crew, I was looking left to right at each candidate, saying wow, she's gorgeous, she's gorgeous, she's cute, she's pretty, and seriously, when I got to VK, my mind went, woah she looks rough! before I realized who it was. I asked myself what was so arresting and unappealing at first glance about her picture, and it was the orange skin, brassy blonde messy hair, and toothy smile. She has some work to do--on the dance floor and off--to be DCC-ready, I think. Now, Dayton, on the other hand, I think is very striking in a pretty way. She needs to tone up some, but I don't think she's fat or any such thing. She also really needs to work on smiling when she performs. Not cheesy faces, just smiling.
  13. Since the shoot is at a different time this year, I imagine rookies will be getting ready for camp, moving to Dallas, etc. If they're smart, they'll try to squeeze in another class or few with Michelle Keys or Kitty, Jenn, and company to work on power, clean moves, learning choreography quickly, flexibility, etc to be in top form for the start of camp. I think in years past, the rookies had rehearsals with assistant choreographers.
  14. Hannah did get weight warnings her rookie year, so being on their radar for weight should not have been a surprise to her when she started her 2nd training camp. She also was one of the last vets called into camp at finals that year, so she had to know that she was on at least somewhat thin ice. I'm not saying she wasn't blindsided by the cut (I agree with others that they were making an example of her), but I think she may have felt that she was such a favorite hot blonde star dancer her rookie year that she had more wiggle room for warnings than she did. She gained 11 pounds her rookie year to the start of year two. Selina may well be 10-15 pounds heavier than her rookie year, and she knew she was on weight watch. Good for her for pulling off DCC for three years, and I hope she has more positive memories and feelings of accomplishment than bad feelings about the experience or herself right now.
  15. Lol, I definitely didn't zoom in on her pit. Did she make it to training camp?
  16. So, did this lady who seems to have forgotten to shave her armpits get into training camp? Or maybe that's just really unfortunate razor burn? If she did make camp, who is she?
  17. I have to say how much he loved Maddie her first audition is part of what keeps me from thinking he's a dirty man who only cares about looks. He was totally hollering for her dancing but wasn't about the face. So now I appreciate he's just really enthusiastic and has actual respect for dance talent. Which is not to say that he he doesn't mostly care about looks and likes judging beautiful and scantily clad young women.
  18. What a whirlwind! I woke up this morning to read through the thread and even though it was already over, my heart was hammering as I got closer to the audition announcements. Very sad about Keyra. I do think it's partly her body type, but I also think that she looked softer in some photos recently than she did at camp last year. Selina definitely looked softer and she clearly knew it. She tried to hide it in that costume but that high-waisted blue fringe thing is not slimming. She had a good run, though. Christina may never grow on me. I thought Brennan had some of those weird facials again in some of her audition photos this year. If judges and guest choreographers comment again on that like last year, she's gone. Despite her resemblance to Whitney Isleib, she's just not that pretty. I'd like to see her kill it with confidence this year. She could be one of those DCC I really like but never find that attractive. I hope she makes it, but I am not convinced she will. I don't know who the new women of color are in TC, but I hope they rock it in camp. DCC needs a serious diversity refresh this year!
  19. Auditions! It looks to me like the competition will be fierce this summer. Some great rookie candidates, which is a relief because I had largely been underwhelmed by the prep class videos and such posted in the preceding weeks. I thought the vets largely looked great, with the exception of Selina, but they're all going to have to bring it to stay on top.
  20. That's why I can remember they're leaving, b/c I like them as DCC too. ? I am so glad Lacey is staying! I bet not half as glad as Kelli and Judy, though. With such a young team, Lacey will be a great leader for them. Heather O will step up, too, I'm betting. I could see Khalyn becoming a second leader, or at least I'm hoping they appoint her! I think she's a great team member and she has some significant team leadership experience already.
  21. Lots of vets retiring! Including some favorites like Robin (no!) and Maggie. Others retiring are Jenna, Jinelle, Simone, Chantal, Stephanie, Bess, and.... I forget who else. There is a list on the current squad thread that can get you up to date, @mmm!
  22. Re: Gina, I think they will move her up significantly in the formation & keep an eye on her for at least another year to see if she's being fake or otherwise toxic on the team since getting called out. That face Kelli made when Gina tried to BS her during training camp said, Not Impressed.
  23. Whoever aadancer94 is in the videos posted above is a pretty good dancer, but I can't tell entirely because I think much of the choreography in both videos is kind of blah and low-tech. She's very cute and appears to have a good figure, but I wish she would smile more! She dancers with her mouth open too much or just a kind of serious look on her face--the smiles are too intermittent. I don't know why all these ladies who are prepping for various auditions don't know that part of practicing is smiling. If you don't smile while rehearsing, it doesn't become second nature to smile while performing, when you have a million things on your mind, and often, the smiles don't come off as consistently or as bright when on the field, court, or stage. I think this was part of Brennan's problem when all the guest choreographers were commenting on her weird facials--just smile, like you're happy with what you're doing. I used to think my dance teacher was just being weird when she would get after us for smiling in rehearsals and class run-throughs, until I noticed in videos that those of us who smiled more in class and rehearsal also were the ones who smiled more while actually performing, and the girls who didn't smile as much during rehearsal were less consistent with "performance faces" on stage. And for the record, I mean smiling; I can't stand cheesy exaggerated faces that are encouraged in some sectors or cheer and dance.
  24. I'm not a Christina fan but I wouldn't say I'm a hater, either. Still, if she's really dating Mandy's ex, I can't help but think she's kind of a downgrade from Mandy, IMO. Now, admittedly, these aren't exactly the things on which the strength of a relationship should be judged, but it's all I have to go on since I don't really know Jack about these people and I know actual compatibility matters more than what I'm about to say, which is this: I think Mandy is much prettier, more talented, more professionally accomplished, more interesting, and much hotter than Christina. Dude might have gone from one of the most talented and stunning DCC in recent years to one of the more underwhelming DCC in my memory. I seem to be on the petty train these days, but I'm just sayin'.
