  1. Mika and husband Jim sent clever/humorous family photo holiday cards every year. One example: after Mika fell down the stairs with 4-month-old Carlie and Carlie was in traction for 5 weeks (followed by a body cast for 8 weeks) ... their card was a hospital photo of older sister Emilie, Carlie in traction, and the parents in scrubs. The caption was "From Emilie and Carlie and the Parents of the Year." After the Imus brouhaha in April 2007 MSNBC took its time in selecting a replacement and after various rotating auditions for the slot MJ unofficially came into being in July (and was announced as a permanent replacement for Imus In October). For the first year Mika worked under her existing MSNBC contract at day rate and remained on call to fill holes in the broadcast schedule. After close to a year on MJ she signed a proper contract and was no longer required to be on call for random assignment. Mika traveled A Lot during her nearly 20 years in network news (and didn't see her girls for two weeks following 9-11 because her availability never meshed with theirs) but evidently none of that compared to the travel pace for MJ. The kicker is that the holiday card during MJ's first year featured a photo of Jim and the girls and the babysitter and the caption read "If you see Mommy, please wish her a Merry Christmas." The photo caption in her book reads "First year of Morning Joe we mocked my long hours and constant travel by switching me out with a replacement mom." The current year does not appear on any of the holiday cards but ... the first year MJ existed was 2007 and the first full year of MJ was 2008.
  2. Mika discussing healthy eating, body weight, addiction/obsession, and Joe. https://youtu.be/CY1x6xtC9HI (link cannot be embedded)
  3. Re-reading Mika's All Things At Once, where this is mentioned. Mother's Day 2002.
  4. Well. I love him enough to google my competition! He is the same age as my daughter but I'm not letting that get in the way. Both he and Dana are from observant Conservative Jewish families; his father is a rabbi. Dana has nothing but good things to say about him which is fairly rare after divorce and she says that she cherishes her time spent with him and with his family. I enjoy his appearances on any show because he is always well-informed and well-spoken. Calm, yes, but when the occasion calls for it also vehement!!! I would not want to face him for the purpose of being interrogated! (Or maybe I would. Heh heh.) I often wonder why he doesn't have his own show, given his experience, background and demeanor. He is Too Good for this show, that's for sure.
  5. I posted some Joey and Rachel vids in the Small Talk thread because they didn't happen on this show. The first and third one go together and the middle one is random, which reflects my editing skills.
  6. I couldn't figure out how to edit the order of the videos, sorry. The first video above uses a few clips to critique Rachel and Joe on David Gregory's Race For The White House. This third video shows that segment minus commentary and is titled Joe Scarborough Behaving Badly: Did He Leave The Set?

  8. Were they to encounter each other, would Mika hiss at Stormy like Elsa Lancaster in Bride of Frankenstein ?
  9. Ha! From your keyboard to my government's ears. (Eyes?)
  10. Gee, it's almost like your government works for your people.
  11. That large dark smudge under Mika's left eye will be repaired during the first break, right? It's about the size of a housefly.
  12. Jonathan Turley re the Gates/GRU reveal: "All of these characters, it's like the Pirates of Penzance."
  13. Sounds like a bunch o' furries to me.
  14. That it was. Dante got the naked bum's rush before Frannie was brought into the living room, but jeeeez. One of Saul's crew grabbed her off the bed while Dante's heinie was disappearing out the front door. If she saw anything it was a flash, but jeeeez. A little kid whose mother snatched her from the only family and stability she knows, in the early stages of sleep, in a strange bed, in a strange place, awakened by shouting men with masks and huge guns. The nice chocolate chip pancake-making man is gone, the world has gone nuts, Mommy smells like sex and is stark naked on the couch behind a fairly small throw pillow. Meanwhile, the disgust on Saul's face looks like it smells like ozone.
  15. Sorta looks like the host/the interrogator dealt it.
  16. Have you ever tried to explain snark-watching to someone who doesn't do it, wouldn't do it and has never heard of it? I usually finish up with "Ay, mi vida loca" while slinking away.
  17. Oh, my. Thank you. 11-27-2017. Now for the podcast, somehow ...
  18. Eight minutes ago oakville said Nate Silver at 538 has the results of six recent polls. T's approval rating is well below 46% in all but one (38-45%).
  19. He played a bit of a rough character in that and IMO was a bit too convincing. Like Mark Harmon:Ted Bundy.
  20. Ohhhh, yeah. Thank you. Here I am stressing about finding the date. Duh. RECAPS. Maybe you could search your MJ episodes posts for words like "wasted" or "drunk" or "high." I seem to remember those. LMAO.
  21. Thank you! I like yours. It's naughty. I would love to see "plants" at various opportunities, women with rolled up magazines. (Little remembered factoid from, IIRC, 1970's The Bust Book: What To Do Until The Lawyer Comes. From the Demonstration chapter. Newspapers, especially the Sunday paper, when rolled can be used as a means of self-defense; when dropped after their purpose is served, they become simply litter. My demonstrating days were over by the time that book came out but I've never forgotten that tip.) Your wish is our command.
  22. I've seen this quote or a variation of it a couple times and I'm pretty sure I remember Joe sharing the same info. At this point I've read and watched too many interviews to remember which is which. (In medical terms, I am a poor historian. LOL) http://www.nickiswift.com/62838/mika-brzezinski-joe-scarborough-facts-may-know/ I know he makes bank but, seriously, his music career is totally a very, very expensive vanity project. As someone once said, "Why can't Joe Scarborough have his mid-life crisis in private?" For those who haven't seen it posted elsewhere, the article has a link to the Sept 2016 GQ interview - just before/just as their covers were pulled. It's a long one.
