Do people really still have Black lawn jockeys? That blue jacket was hideous. The boutique restroom should have been platinum-plated for it to cost Larry $650 to use it. Okay, LD went in with the hair dye bit. Wait, what? You can arrested just for wearing clothes that look too expensive for you? As soon as Larry pulled up to the church barbecue with the lawn jockey in the back seat, the church people seeing it was telegraphed. Too easy. -
Janine does not have a special set of skills in quoting from Taken. Mean Italian lady. Yep, that's Melissa. Janine is not a mole, Ava. Please tell me 8th grade boys aren't actually having sex. The "big teagues"? What does that even mean, Janine? Tariq having seen Set It Off as a child explains a lot. Mr. Johnson going to get his holy mop water. Seems to me Mr Johnson would be the Nigerian prince trying to scam other people. Manny's voice is like hot, melted butter to me. Too bad he's sort of problematic. Yeah, Quinta has really given herself a wardrobe upgrade this season. I would wear pretty much all of Janine's district outfits. Now that's a deep cut. Maybe Abbott Elementary is feeling a little nostalgic for hood films since it referenced two of them in this episode.

Right? This is the main reason I've been waiting for Claire and Adam to meet because at some point I think they'll connect not just as uncle and niece but also as Newman family outsiders. The only small advantage I think Claire has over Adam is that she's Nikki's biological granddaughter and not merely a stepson. Yeah, he's not even trying to hide that he's reading his lines off the props now. Maybe the belligerent delivery is an attempt to make sure he doesn't look weak because he can't remember his lines anymore. Whatever, I tend to look away when Victor's speaking because the way his eyes move around distracts me. Also, IMO no Y&R actor is less visually engaged with his scene partners than EB than is. It'd be okay if Victor was characterized as being shy but he's not and never has been. So the other characters just stand or sit there talking to him as if there's nothing off-putting about his behavior. And the audience is supposed to accept it too. Ehhh. -

Yes, its dark color did fit better with the dark dress. What I dislike about Nikki's big belts is how they usually seem to be holding up her sagging boobs. This time her rack was noticeably not using the belt as a shelf, and in profile was just a tad perky. Okay then. Hee, this reminded me of when MCE (Chelsea) was on All My Children. The character she played went bonkers and was put in a padded cell in a psychiatric facility. Her super secret agent suitor kept visiting her and was allowed to be alone with her in the padded cell. He didn't think anything was wrong that some good lovin' couldn't cure so the two of them would have sex on the soft, puffy floor of the cell. I used to say that he was trying to fcuk the crazy out of her. Good times. -

Whoa, Ashley. You might want to take a rideshare to the mental hospital. Gotta agree with Victor, Jack and Lauren seem to be doing Nikki more harm than good with their iffy advice. But I didn't like how Nikki had to keep justifying her decisions to Victor. His ego is so delicate. "I have it under control." Right. Victor and his security team had no idea where Jordan was. Meanwhile, she was busy crafting another way to attack Nikki, via Seth. What will it take for TGVN to accept he's not the master of the universe? Funny how neither Nate nor Devon see Mamie's influence in the company name battle brewing at C-W. IMO, if she hadn't been so aggressive in her pronouncements that Jill was a threat to what is only partially a Winters property, Billy likely wouldn't have responded the way he did. How old is Connor; is he even a teenager yet? The kid so messed up no can figure out what's wrong with him, including an entire team of mental health professionals. Scary. Not sure why Seth doesn't have his own sponsor. AFAIC Victoria and Nikki should've stopped arguing with Victor, especially since he was continuing to be openly dismissive of their opinions and desires. Okay, who asked for a love scene starring Chelsea and Billy? Bleh. Nooner not FTW. 🤮🤮🤮 Pillow-talking Billy said Connor was lucky to have Chelsea. Nah, I think Connor's lucky to have rich parents who can throw an endless amount of money at his problems. Nikki declared Jordan was being lured into making a fatal mistake. Wonder if that means Nikki will get to kill her? <fingers crossed> Re the previews: Amanda! Bet she's about to go legal on Devon's CEO a$$. Let's go! -

Yep, it happened. Claire had been reading a book on Greek mythology Victoria gave her. She said how much she enjoyed learning about the dynamics and intrigues between the gods in the Greek pantheon. Then Claire made the comparison of the Newman family to the Greek gods and specifically drew a parallel between Zeus and Victor. Victoria laughingly agreed and when Claire asked if that meant Victoria was Athena, Victoria replied that she'd been known to throw a thunderbolt or two. So JG would not only have us see Victor as the omnipotent king but also Victoria as the Goddess of War. Meh. I am however fine with viewing Adam as the God of War. Not sure where that leaves Nick and Abby. 🤔 -

I think at one point Nikki said Victor's security people tried to determine Jordan's location via cell phone tower data or whatever but were unsuccessful. Maybe CBS could have Y&R do a crossover with the FBI primetime show, lol. Those feds have never met a perp they couldn't catch via their cell phone use. That's why the TV criminals typically toss their phones right away but it would seem Jordan's not worried. -

Crap, it was indeed Jordan calling Nikki. Here comes the WTFery. Jordan's disguise was interesting. I thought she kind of resembled a young Ann-Margaret with a touch of 30 Rock's Liz Lemon. Victor the overconfident idiot, bragging about his super secret plan to use Claire to lure Jordan into a trap. Meanwhile, Nikki was chatting with Jordan over the phone and making plans to meet. Yo, Vic: Nikki is the bait whether you approve or not. Maybe when you grounded her you should've taken her phone so she couldn't go rogue behind your back. IMO Jack was right. Tucker didn't break Ashley, she cracked up all on her own because of her longtime tendency to have a tenuous hold on reality. Lauren said security at the ranch was impenetrable. I don't know how TEB managed to say that line with a straight face. Adam, what are you doing? Did you forget about the huge dossier Victor had compiled on Sally? He's never going to see her as worthy of anything Newman, because the Forresters and Spencers and Logans ran her out of L.A. Hey, do the Abbots have a chauffered car or was Ashley in a rideshare? I can't figure Cole out. He is just too chill. Is he lowkey trying to get back with Victoria and have the family with Claire they missed out on? Nick basically told Victor he wanted to bring Sally's design firm under NE's wing for her to be Adam's human pacifier. 🙄 Shut up, Nick, you two-faced POS. Dang, Ashley got hella t-boned back in the day. She might have a dormant case of PTSD. Seth! And Jordan. 😱😱😱😱 Oh, Seth, you in danger, boy. -

Re AA, some have objected to its religious or spiritual undertones, and others view it as substituting one obsession for another. I won't attest to either of those views but I do note that right now Y&R is: avoiding mentioning God or a Higher Power; and, presenting an AA sponsor as enabling the addict's drinking, or as ineffective due their own lack of sobriety. And pretty much Victor's whole reaction is wrong as he mistakenly believes he can control Nikki's drinking like he controls everything else in his world. IMO, Y&R isn't doing AA any favors. But then this is the show that also has bipolar Sharon as a coffeehouse therapist, and grifter Chelsea as the author of a life management computer game. -

Yeah, Claire's new little friend Nadia was a cutie. Oh FFS, Victor's all-powerful plan to keep Nikki from drinking: lock up all the liquor and make Nikki stay home. Um, Victor, I'm sure Nikki could get anything she wanted delivered to the ranch while you're away. Just sayin'. Hey, it's Chloe. Here comes the meddling and busybodying. Yay. 😒 Did Lauren get part of her dress caught in the car door? Half of it looked to me like it was loosely stapled together. I liked the bright red color though. Heh, Nikki *69'd Jordan. I would've expected devious Jordan to throw away her burner phones after she used them. Whatever, Nikki taunting a murderous nutbag was probably an enormously bad idea. Sally was right, why would she want to be further in debt to Nick? Or why would he want to throw good cash after bad, even if it's like Monopoly money to him? AYFKMWTS? Victor = Zeus? Victoria = Athena? Yeah, no. I think the Newmans are GC's Borgias at best, and a basic Upper Midwestern crime family at worst. You must be whacked out on the goofballs, JG, to write such nonsense. 🤬 So using Nikki as bait to help trap Jordan is verboten but using Claire isn't? Geez, Victor isn't exactly being a caring grandpa to Victoria's daughter. He probably won't be calling Claire "sweetheart" any time soon, ha ha. Listen to Lauren, Nikki. Don't answer Jordan's call! Heck, forward it to Victor since he's so sure he's got the upper hand on that psycho. -

Chance was seriously putting the moves on Summer. Giving her those "ooh the things I'm gonna do to you" looks. Take all the time you need, playa. 🥰 Ashley. The only thing maybe worse than a stalker is a boozy stalker. Put down the martini glass and have some self-respect. Why was Nick so squirmy about Summer & Chance's date? Hey, Nick, it's 2024 and things move fast. Try to keep up. I want to say Ashley went all James Bond villain on Tucker, telling him what terrible things she was going to do to him instead of just doing them. But for some reason Tucker seemed to have taken the threat. Ehhh. TMW you have to humor your date's parents while you're on the date. IMO Chase handled it well. But he does know a lot of Phyllis and Nick's dirt so he's unlikely ever to be intimidated by them. Summer was telling Chance about putting Harrison to bed at the Abbott manse. Huh? She doesn't live there. But I liked hearing about Chance's quality time with Dominic since many viewers assumed he'd abandoned Dom after the divorce from Abby. Wait, what? Who considers Nick "the righteous Newman"? Is righteous a synonym for dumb? Or Neanderthal? I think Phyllis was blowing smoke up Nick's a$$ for some reason. And then Tucker described Ashley as trying to behave like "a noble, righteous Abbott." Gee, maybe righteous Ashley and righteous Nick should get together. I'm sure Abby wouldn't mind at all, to have her brother seeing her mommy, lol. Aw, Ashley tried to slut-shame Audra. So does your bouffanted nephew Kyle get a pass, Ash? He and Summer weren't separated 24 hours before he hopped on Audra. Oh yeah, I forgot, Kyle's one of those righteous Abbotts. 🙄🙄🙄 Wait until Nick finds out Phyllis' depiction of her renewed relationship with Danny was mostly a fantasy. Oy, Tucker was lucky Audra wasn't inclined to act like a jealous psycho because he left their afterglow to go meet with Ashley. Meanwhile, I sure hope Ashley didn't drive herself home given the disturbed state she was in. -

Okay, now it makes more sense to me. I think Traci has too much of a tendency to be a mother hen to her siblings though. (And I'm forever going to be mad at Traci for giving Colleen's heart to Victor. 😒) Speaking of Audra, has anyone seen a Kia SUV commercial starring Zuleka Silver? The actress in the ad looks so much like her, but she's wearing her hair curly instead of wavy or blown out like Audra does. I've searched for the ad on the googles and YouTube and I haven't been able to find it. But I'm 99.39103957657% convinced it's ZS. Good on her if it is. -

Out of curiosity I did some quick perusal of the Y&R transcripts of about a year ago, to see how Victor was addressing other characters in regular conversation. (I.e., not in anger or impatience, as EB has described per his tweet to our fellow poster, Sake614) Here's what I found: Nikki and Victoria: were called "sweetheart" or "darling" or similar, but not repeatedly like Victor does now. Nick: Victor was calling him "son" and not his name. Adam: either "son" or his name. (At this point I figured it was an immediate family relationship thing with Victor but as yet I haven't determined how he addressed Abby. Or his older grandkids like Summer, Noah, and Faith.) Jack, Billy, Ashley, Nate, and Devon: all were addressed by their name. Of course with Jack and Billy there was usually a sarcastic tone attached, like "why I am even talking to you?" So based on brief, preliminary investigation, I'd say there appeared to have been a set method in the way the writers had Victor speak to people in conversation. I'm still not buying that EB's personal feelings toward a given actor have much if anything to do with it. -

Sigh, the same GC day continues. If Jack was going organize an impromptu Abbott family intervention on Ashley, seemed to me Abby, Billy, and Kyle should've been there too. It was probably past Harrison's bedtime though. 😏 Ehh, Audra, you gave Tucker too much time to come up with a lie plausible excuse for why he was still tracking Ashley. How in less than a few hours did it go from Connor doing okay enough for Adam to have to cool his jets, to OMG Connor's falling apart? Chelsea has sat in Society sipping her wine or the coffeehouse enjoying her cocoa while she's kept Billy hooked into her self-imposed drama. And used Connor's troubles to do it. Traci suggested she has as much money as Tucker, and could automatically double whatever bribe amounts he had paid the Paris cafe staff. Meh, really? I think Tucker is still a billionaire. Billy trying to imitate Tucker's mannerisms was cute. Yeah, no, not on your, best day, William. But hey, you did give your smug girlfriend a chuckle. 🙄 Victor persisted in believing Nikki's drinking was something he should be able to control. It's like he didn't even listen to her when she tried to explain to him it doesn't work like that. ABBOTT-WINTERS? Or ACW? Billy, go home, you're drunk. You'll guarantee an ownership battle if you pursue such a needless change. Jill is only an Abbott by former marriage, and you don't actually own any part of C-W. Diane weighing in the Ashley situation the way she did was puzzling to me. It's as if she thought Jack and Traci were the ones who were overreacting. Jack, setting yourself up to be Nikki's sober failsafe is not the way you want to go. It looked like Diane was getting annoyed by so much of her husband's attention going to an ex-wife, with no end in sight. -

^^^It's interesting that he's insisting what Victor calls other characters is his choice and not the writers', based on whether he personally cares for the actors in question. Someone in EB's close circle needs to sit him down and explain to him how his remarks are coming across. He may not want to admit publicly that he's been having memory issues, but IMO he's digging himself into a bigger hole by addressing it such a dismissive way. He has the right to remain silent. -

This was the last place I expected to see product placement for JG Wentworth. I don't think those ads run anymore, do they? Siri is obnoxious but I liked Larry's new BMW. Darned dick dial! Fat-shaming a dog. It looked like a normal corgi to me. OMG, I hollered when Larry's glasses fell into the toilet. Been there, done that, had to nuke those glasses from orbit. (It was the only way to be sure.) Brookie? Brooky? Maria Sofia is a lot of a lot. Seems to me the show was looking for more excuses to give the actress a better wardrobe and more costume changes per episode. So Larry faked cordiality and feigned interest. What more could anyone expect from him? Yeah, I'm not sure even Larry's petty enough to put the maid's tip in the toilet. Larry was being problematic but that maid was kind of looking for trouble. Larry getting arrested was some b.s. but I guess the mean-mugging mug shot was the real point. -

And finally, from during the break last week: 2/2, Friday Connor having troubles again, Chelsea and Adam wringing their hands again, and Billy offering meaningless advice again. Rinse, lather, repeat. Tucker is slender but swole. The knit turtleneck was doing his chest and arms all the favors. 🥰 Aw geez, Jack was still backing up Nikki's lie by omission to Victor, that he's Nikki's AA sponsor now. No, Jack! Still, Victor was being rather overbearing with Nikki. He seemed more concerned about her consorting with Jack than her failing attempts not to drink. Oh look, Audra broke up with Tucker for the eleventy zillionth time. Audra, I wish you knew how to quit him. Whatever, Victor. You and your crackhead security team haven't done such an amazing job of protecting your family from Jordan so far. You aren't the master of Jordan's universe apparently. Or of Nikki's alcoholism. Doesn't Ashley have an apartment in Paris? Perhaps that's where she went to collect herself. Audra, girrrrllll noooo. If Tucker is going to be p-whipped it'll be by Ashley, not you. But hey, Tucker, how you doin'? 🥴 FFS, Nikki, you don't have to answer Unknown calls or even listen to them ring incessantly. Just block them!!!!! -
That was a stunning apartment or townhouse or whatever. At first I thought it was an office building with the upward view of the huge winding staircase. The victim's bodyguard/assistant seemed shady from the jump. He was having a hard time maintaining eye contact and Shaw noticed. Sabrina Beaumont the Selling Park Ave. lady definitely had set herself up to look like a perp. But of course as the first person Riley and Shaw arrested, she wasn't. Luke the defendant was a very bad liar, on top of being a dopehead. If the victim was using a drugs again wouldn't that have shown up in the autopsy? I didn't understand how the defense just pulled just pulled that out of the air with no proof. That judge seemed to have had something against Price. Pretty much every prosecution objection was overruled, and every defense objection sustained. Sounds like a payoff may have been involved since the defendants parents were wealthy, well-connected, and apparently inclined to smooth things out for their son at whatever cost. Child porn, OMG. Did the DA's office not vet their star witness at all? But at least now the authorities will be watching him because odds are he won't stop the vile stuff he's been doing. Or he'll feel emboldened to do worse.

Tucker is so good at needling people. I just wish they'd let him have a go at the Newmans too. Re Billy's gambling addiction, given that the Super Bowl is on CBS this year Y&R should've done a quick story arc where Billy was getting momentarily obsessed with online betting. The head of the NFL did a press conference this week where he asked the fans who were betting on the game to do so responsibly. Sure, Jan. There's practically a direct pipeline from the major online betting companies to the NFL, at least via advertising. Both backs are getting plenty scratched, especially with all those crazy prop bets. -
S03.E01/E02: Career Day Part 1/Career Day Part 2
Joimiaroxeu replied to DanaK's topic in Abbott Elementary
Pt 1 I liked Ava's glasses with the eyeballs painted on them. Melissa and Gary the new vending machine guy getting hella spicy! Was Manny from the school district hitting on Janine or just being overly friendly? Cursive writing no longer on the curriculum. Huh. I recently saw news stories that kids were starting to study cursive again because they wanted to have better signatures. Janine was wearing a Nike shirt. Timely product placement. Two dollars? That's like a million dollars! Jeremy Allen Black. Sorry, Ava, that comparison won't work even on Greg's best day. Calvin Klein sends his regards. Princeton is the Temple University of the Ivies. Ouch. (I would've said Dartmouth or Brown but that's just me. 😏) Juvenile FTW. Ava couldn't help but back that thang up. Pt 2 Ava's hidden cameras to spy on the teachers. No way is that legal, right? I think Gary could be a slightly bulkier body double for Christopher Meloni. Janine's substitute was ready to throw hands over the date placement on the whiteboard. Mr. Johnson pulled some state election shenanigans and won the Cold War. Janine said Jalen Hurt's face is incredible. Where is the lie tho? Barbara did look great with the updated makeup. Marriage proposal denied! Poor Gary. Mr. Johnson was a made guy in the mafia. In Sicily. Wonders never cease with him! I also went to elementary schools on military bases. The only career day I recall was when each kid had to do a report to the class on what job their parent did on the base. It got interesting when kids sorted out whose parents reported to whose parents. -

"The pull is completely mutual" Eh, Phyllis, I don't think that word means what you think it means. "Mutual," that is. Maybe you should ask Danny how he defines it. 🙄 So whose plane was Ashley in? Did she fly commercial back to GC? I can't imagine the Jabot jet dropped Traci off and then flew back to Paris for the 2nd time in two days. The Abbotts' carbon footprint should be crying for mercy. MAMIE?!!!???!! I thought we were rid of her. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Dang, Daniel took Phyllis to the school over her behavior towards Danny. He was reading her the whole library. Too bad Phyllis has the reading comphrension of a toddler. Mamie slammed Audra as being a young Jill Abbott. I dunno, Audra doesn't seem to be using her womb as a financial or professional advancement plan. By now she could've borne Newman and Abbott heirs, not to mention a feisty little McCall baby. Now Danny wants to keep Christine at arm's length because he's tired of the dramaz with Phyllis. Get over yourself, Danny. You created the situation, which has evolved into "winner take Danny" death match between the two women. Billy was just at the GCAC bar knocking back a beer and then he went over to Society for what exactly, more booze? "A walking Apocalypse." Oh, FFS, JG. This is how you have Phyllis' nemesis prop her, by describing Phyllis as a problem of Biblical proportions? Idiotic metaphor is idiotic. What world is this? I was actually cheering Billy on, at least while he climbed up Aunt Mamie's hiney and turned on a flamethrower. Tell her, Billy! An Abbott and a Chancellor will not be rolling over for the likes of her paranoid self at C/W. Audra said, "!Dios mío!" to Tucker when she realized he was still tracking Ashley's movements. Have we ever heard Audra demonstrate the actress' Latina heritage before? I am here for it. 🥳
