I wrote my thoughts on that in the "Absence" thread. And yes, i was extremely bothered by it (even though I didn't actually watch the episode).

So, apparently in Absence Dean's first instinct was to try and bring Mary back. That really annoys me. After everything they've seen and done, with everything they know about the "natural order of things" Dean should NOT have even thought of doing that. As a matter of fact, I would have been so proud of him if he'd put his foot down and stopped everyone else from trying. There's only one explanation that makes sense to me: In my head canon he's probably felt guilty even as a kid for "saving" Sammy, but not being able to save Mary, too. Now Mary coming back into Dean's life was explicitly Amara's gift to Dean. Not Sam and Dean, not Sam and Dean and Cas, no, just DEAN. So he would feel responsible for her well-being, right? (He would in any case, but even more seeing as he's the reason why she had to leave her happy, happy heaven.) When he assumed Mary was dead in the AU world, he held out for a long time not looking for her. (And yes, I was proud of him then.) Then, when she turned out to be alive and well over in apocaworld he probably felt like he failed her for leaving her there for so long. And now, as she's dead for real, of course he feels like failing her yet again UNLESS he tries his damndest to try and bring her back again. Well, this is my explanation, and I'm sticking with it.

Please don't let Dabb go near any of the old characters. Not even the very blandest ones. He'll just make everything worse, and then THAT'S what's we're going to remember.

How wouldn't he have died? He got one year, and one year only, to live with Sam, and THEN he died. Because of the deal. Besides, he had lived without Sam fir the entirety of Sam's time in Stanford and accepted that they were apart.

This always struck me as the most ridiculous and illogical argument. Dean made a deal that meant Sam lives and Dean dies (within one year). If he's dead he's not actually "living with Sam" now is he 🙄

MTE whenever I see people complaining that a certain character has been OOC since forever. Just admit it, you like your head canon, fan fiction character better than the character that's actually on the show. I'm not exempting myself from this. If show!Dean, in season 14, still wants to bring a dead person back to life, even if that person is his mother, and even knowing all that he knows about disrupting the natural order, I know I'll have to stick to fanfic. 🤷

I haven't watched (obviously, because I knew Pellegrino was going to be in it), but... remember Red Meat, when an almost mortally wounded Sam managed to kill two super werewolves, drive to the hospital (changing cars on the way IIRC) and arrive just in time to save damsel-in-distress Dean? Oh, Dabb co-wrote that one...

How about Dean kills Mary because "they always talk too much" and then Nick laughs himself to death about it.

Huh, I always thought it was the showrunner who came up with the road map of the main storylines for the season and the individual writers just kind of flesh them out. Shows what I know.

Ah yes, gaelic! I wasn't even aware she'd kept going that long... Oh, there's seenashwrite on tumblr, she writes (unregularly) hilarious and very spot on reviews - especially were the technicalities of writing are concerned.

Ah yeah, she's great. I was hoping for more of that sort...

Which ones do you look at? I always seem to end up with the ones that give any episode at least an A-...🙄
