  1. I think we did. I remember a time when he was unemployed and just bumming around, sulking in his apartment. I don't remember what he did after that though, since he only got The Brew pretty recently. Is it just my lack of eye for clothes, but aren't Ali and Hanna's dresses oddly similar? Sure, you can tell them apart, but they still look alike, especially compared to what the others are wearing, which I thought a weird choice for Hanna after her Not!Ali moment. http://smhttp.42308.nexcesscdn.net/8016BCA/ksite/wp-content/gallery/last-dance/139720_1415.jpg Emily is gorgeous, but she has never looked less like a high school student. I don't normally mind (I often forget they are supposed to be in hs) but this deserves the "no fucks were given as to the character's age" award for excellence in makeup. CeCe better be there...
  2. Spencer told Toby the truth and what did this get her? She handed him her agency and got punished for it. Not just the disaster with Charles, not just being apologetic for something Toby did to himself when he stole the candy, no, the very worst for me was that she immediately had to resort to begging him not to go to Tanner and submitting to his orders for her and her friends. That was just gross. Wtf is the show doing with relationships? I remember a time when only Ezria was messed up, but now they all are. Spencer was defensive and pleading before she even told Toby; how is that normal? And Emily was so creepy in this episode(*), and how did that end up? She was rewarded with a kiss and the promise of dating. I don't need shows to be educational, even shows with the target audience of PLL, but this is matching the early Ezria stuff in wrongness. And the show is trying to educate... as to the dangers of pot, of all things! And sorry to rain on parades, but Sara is not gone. She moved out, but she is dating Emily. Sure, she will be on screen less (hopefully), but that doesn't mean things will change with Emily's character assassination and plot irrelevance. It's a step in the right direction though. (*) I didn't want to mention this, but I can't help it. Writers, when you make out with a woman, and in the morning she says something along the lines of "Did that really happen?" and means it literally, that is not a cute or funny thing that leads to awww awkwardness and fuzzy feelings. And when that question was not the result of being drunk, high, or otherwise temporarily impaired, having them just proceed with the relationship mere hours later is not particularly romantic either. It is even less so when you double down on the subtext that Emily is not capable of making the right decisions at the moment. It happens to some of us, we can get blinded by our wants, and it can be very twisted, it can turn us into the very worst versions of ourselves. The show is aware of this as it used it again and again. But it seems blind when it comes to romantic relationships. It should not be. The nature of the wants makes no difference. We crave, and we lose ourselves. Calling it "love" is no magical protection against this.
  3. The first half was just telling us things we already suspected, plus things I didn't really care about (Frank's marital drama, TK's mommy issues, his mother-in-law, all that). Not being surprising is ok, it means you successfully hinted at it... but did it all have to be so beat-by-beat and mirroring the first season? The dialogue was atrocious as usual for VV, and he couldn't make some lines work at all (the "then stand in front of a tank" line delivery was one of the worst I've heard). And, again, someone else also took a hit - last episode it was Ani, this time it was Ray: sublunar? the pain monologue? Awful and samey. Ray in the car sounded just like Frank's monologue in bed a few episodes ago. Worse, it was something so generic that Frank himself could have speechified it. It's so obviously not people speaking; when someone's lines would fit another character, it's glaringly The Writing. Season 1 didn't have this problem. Still watching for Rachel McAdams (no to that uniform!) and CF (yes to no mustache) who really, really do their best and elevate their material. I was too indifferent to TK's scenes to have a reaction to his acting, but I thought he sold fury pretty well for a tight space interaction; that storyline is just so boring. Also, since he doesn't have the money he counted on (why would he even leave them there?), is it a good idea to follow his heart and get back in the field? Wouldn't the insurance fraud thing pay more? Or is he doing both at the same time? The monetary aspect was not mentioned when they were recruited, despite the fact that both TK and Ray need money. It would have taken just a few lines to clear this up. Oh, show...
  4. With an astoundingly subtle title like that, the episode could be pretty much about anything. Anything at all. I hope VV references something completely bonkers, like the fall of Constantinople. (I am down with anything after seeing R McA assault people and wearing those clothes.) Who thought that "Sometimes a thing happens that splits your life. There's a before and after." line was worthy of a promo? It does encapsulate the writing and line delivery for most of the show though; it just isn't a good thing.
  5. I agree that the current Ali is unbelievably bland. What were the show runners thinking? They kept making Ali less and less interesting, and there is no excuse for this Lorenzo nonsense. I don't even need Queen Bee Ali, I just want her back in HBIC mode, the "b" being optional - like in the scene where she helped CeCe leave the country. Speaking of which, when CeCe is back, I hope she awesomely teams up with Ali instead of having Ali cower behind her, or being paid off by Charles, or dying. Do we know when CeCe is back? Could it be just in a flashback?
  6. ^ Taken to the Past Seasons Talk: http://forums.previously.tv/topic/1844-past-seasons-talk-a-is-everywhere/#entry1339581
  7. Why as in her in-show motive? I don't remember a motive ever being stated, but CeCe did say she was afraid of Wilden; maybe he was blackmailing her with something, maybe he was looking for Ali and threatening her to reveal information, maybe she was just afraid for her life and preempted that danger. Since Ali knew and helped her, I'd be inclined to believe it was Ali-related, and/or possibly the lodge fire. From the spoilers topic: While Emily's love life is pretty... dynamic, it's only been a recent thing, imo. Ali and Maya were love interests from the books, then Maya was gone, and Samara came-and-left, but I think that was because of the actress availability as Bianca Lawson (who was the object of many, many epic jokes on TwoP - those were the days) had a bunch of other roles (not as a teenager, at last!) and the Samara actress got her gig on The Vampire Diaries; then Emily dated Paige. By comparison, if we look at Spencer's relationships at that point, Spencer also had been hitting on Ian and Wren, dating Alex, and started dating Toby. After that, Spencer had brief interludes that went nowhere, and she went back to Toby each time (sadly). Even lovestruck Aria had Noel, that karate guy, Andrew and now possibly this new guy; those are just easily forgotten because they were just speed bumps on the Ezria road to Hell (sadly). Thing is Emily broke up with Paige because Ali came back, and that was actually a good storyline, her switching between them and back. None of the other Liars have anyone like Ali to shake them up. After that, there was Talia; Spencer met Johny around the same time. And now Emily has stumbled upon Sara-the-Ali-stand-in. I don't think that Emily has more fun, not more than Spencer. The issue here is that the writers are not willing to let anyone stay single for long, and Emily found herself not locked in a long-term relationship a few times, especially since Emison went nowhere.
  8. I kept expecting Traci to confess to Gail that she had her suspicions, that this wasn't the shattering surprise to her that it was to others. Also, Chloe and Dave were awful cops during the entire episode - if this is what it takes to solve your issues, maybe stay broken up! Maybe even transfer. The new chick is Gail 2.0 which was mildly interesting until I realized she out-Gailed Gail in their scenes, then remembered that we now have a milder, mommy-to-be Gail. No, show! No. I haven't enjoyed any episode this season. I'm just hanging on because it will soon be over.
  9. I'm replaying it in the Android version right now. It's FFVI Advance, with the graphics a bit cleaned up and an auto-battle button that uses your last set commands. FFX is the last one I liked and is actually one of my favorite games ever. (I didn't like the game play in XII, so I never finished it.) It boggles the mind that they could screw up so badly after it with FFX-2, the XIIIs and the first XIV. Nothing I've seen from XV seems promising, except the incredible graphics, which... I'd rather wait and enjoy that engine in other games.
  10. If Sara and Emily are in a functional relationship during the time jump, congratulations, show! You have found something more dysfunctional and gross than Ezria to show your young viewers. Bonus if, as already seen in the "can't leave" scene, Emily stays in Rosewood to "help" Sara instead of moving on with her life. I want the spoilers about Sara to be true (i.e. that Emily realizes Sara is too broken and their relationship ends), and 6x13 Sara to be a post-therapy that has been reunited with the Liars after the time jump. I don't even care who Emily ends up; I just am horrified by the possibility that the show might handle Sara/Emily that badly.
  11. Normally, lenses have a point of focus that is right for you. If you turn them upside down, it gets screwed up. I can't see through my glasses at all if I do it; that's also because the angle at which my eyes meet the lenses is slightly different. I thought Hanna made up a random detail to prove it's her car, and it was actually quite a Hanna thing to do. The valet probably didn't remember every owner of every car to the point where he was certain he wouldn't make a mistake. Were he wrong, denying her the car would have caused quite a scene. I'm more interested in Hanna returning the car and Leslie asking for the keys to it too. Unsurprisingly, we saw none of that. Out of sight, out of mind, for the PLL writers.
  12. That sneak peek is the WORST. Seriously. I'd take Sara/Emily (Semily? Sarily? Emira? Has tumblr picked something yet?) over this nonsense. I understand why Mr D lied about Charles in the beginning, but then Ali showed she could find out more information than he had, and served the grave info to him on a platter. Why would he not tell Ali the truth now? In what scenario is her being helpless, confused and afraid better? But wait, he didn't hide the card either, so the first part of the scene (and presumably everything that comes before it in the episode) was just for the cheap tension and so that we see Sasha act that bit. Why, show... why?
  13. She left for Autostraddle. As for Spencer being a cheater, it's a deeper and older character trait than the Toby stuff: she didn't care about cheating when she hit on Melissa's boyfriends either. For all that the show has been pandering to the Spoby crowd, Spencer has been established from the very start as someone who can go after a guy regardless of relationships, theirs or her own.
  14. It could have been rivalry, but I don't think wiping them out was necessarily the purpose. They were served up as the solution for the case. Between this and the cops leading the investigation being dead, it'd be all over. In fact, they might still get shut down, even if they are suspicious, and it would play just like season 1 when they didn't get the Yellow King the first time. I hope not, because it seems gimmicky now. They would be have to be reassembled as a team (and this season is slow as it is) and what exactly would connect new murders to Caspere? So far they aren't aware of a pattern.
  15. Have you seen Emily? Girl got game. Wait, no, not so much now with the horrible Sara scenes. XD It does happen though. The swimming champion chick? This Habitat chick (allegedly?). Heck, she served coffee for plenty of straight women. Yes, that was sarcasm. Sadly, by the nature of the show, the Liars tend to interact with potential love interests. This and previous friendships are pretty much the most used reasons for having a new recurring character on the show. Look at Dean, he had a role in Spencer's life, but the writers wanted to shove some romantic conflict there. Or Lorenzo: the only named cop introduced lately not only perved on Ali, but got the (pointless, disgusting) love interest gig. He could have been supportive/suspicious without kissing her, but I guess... that would be a different show. Didn't he escape though? I suppose if the organ donation document was fake, there is no telling when it was written and if the date on it was the one when he left Radley. Mrs D covered up it all up. You are right, it is very unbelievable, even for the bastion of professional standards and transparency that is Radley. Also to consider: security was still shit after both Bethany and Charlie escaped in one night, as seen in Mona's ability to waltz around.
  16. Yes. She mentioned the grave during a fight.
  17. Is the show teasing us again with Toby dying? Come on, show... Best part of the promo? Shay's Shocked Face: (This. Forever. http://prettylittleliarsannotations.tumblr.com/post/120625472197)
  18. I liked the shot of Mona's appearance. But, as soon as she opened her mouth, I said "Oh, Summer of Answers Mode On!" and, lo and behold, that was a huge info dump that was accepted as true at face value in the interest of moving forward. Of course, Mona could have volunteered all this info when they caught her with Leslie's file, but she only did it after the Liars managed to outshovel their criminal ways. (I assume Hanna returned the car, or there wouldn't have been a point in cloning the access card as opposed to just taking it. Still, it was a huge risk.) I thought that was telling, but not in that straightforward mode. It's not about how much Emily does (she obviously, objectively did a lot). Emily sees that she is not enough, which makes sense since Sara is more broken. This was the moment when I thought that Emily might realize that she cannot "fix" Sara, that Sara needs more/different help than she provides, and that she should push her towards getting it. Which would push Sara off screen, a wonderful thing indeed. Mr D is as hardcore as Mrs D was. No hesitation in digging that grave over just that one letter. I'd like it more if A was just trolling with this and Charles' decomposed body was there. (Alas, it is not to be...)
  19. So... the reddit spoilers are legit yet again (Charles coming home for his birthday being the one reveal that convinced me.) I'm kinda starting to wonder if the leaks are intentional. I seriously do.
  20. That got ruined for me in this very episode, and I'll quote this gem: "Those moments, they stare back at you. You don't remember them, they remember you. Turn around, there they are." This would have fit in any monologue from Rust or one of the Yellow King crew, except it would have been less jarring then. Also, it sounds like something Ani's father might say, which is an excellent reason for her not to say it. If the NP wanted this said so, so badly (I can't imagine why; it's awful and sounds really cliched, a mix of Nietzsche and the Gospel of Thomas), he should have had Frank say it.
  21. This is excellent. I'd add that going after the Liars and recreating the prom, specifically, make zero sense for someone older who was in Radley since childhood. WTF is so special about his sister's prom? He would have been too old to attend hers, and it's not like she would have been his date. And instead of her friends, why is he not more jealous of Jason, i.e. the brother who did get to live with the family? This stuff would have made sense for Ali's twin because s/he would have been obviously focused on Ali's life, but for an older brother...? If the Dancing Girl is Spencer, there is no way they can sell it, be it 12 years old or 8 years old. Maddie Ziegler is great, but they should have cast a younger actress. Also, Spencer didn't just forget it, she didn't have even have a flashback while she was in Radley. And her parents risked her remembering or some long-term patient (or even a chatty employee) recognizing her by sending her to Radley instead of anywhere else. If the plot needed Spencer with a Radley past, it could have been handled much better.
  22. Most likely no. The mother's knife line was said as Ani was examining some carvings and talked about maybe getting one, so I assume the mother did that kind of work (whether those specific statues were hers or not, since the sister is an artist too) and Ani took the knife she used for it. Ani's boot knife is strictly a combat knife (it's a karambit, I think); there is no indication her happy-hippy commune-living mother would carry one. ETA: She has at least one other knife, as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnHeiX-Tfv8
  23. The first part of the episode was ghastly. I wasn't bothered by VV, but now I see him as too flat, same line readings in every scene. And I can follow the story lines just fine, but I do not need to see every person Frank visits in his quest for financial salvation if the scenes start to play out pretty much the same. Also boring, everything about TK's character. I liked Ani's scene with her boss. It wasn't unexpected, but there wasn't a prolonged buildup to it; it didn't overstay its welcome; there was some fun writing in it, and it worked well to establish Ani's character. Why can't the show do this for Paul? It's like different writers and editors are working on those 2. Generally though, I thought the dialogue was even more over the top than before. It was never this bad in season 1. Never. For me it's not even that someone called Rust on it, or asked questions, because I thought Rust made sense most of the time (judging by this season, it's likelier and likelier that this was due to so much s1 material being lifted from someone else's writing). It's that this is now how everyone talks at times. For example, Ani talking to her sister, wtf. W.T.F! The shootout scene is this season's WOW!Scene, but I remember the 6-min Tracking Shot being on all sites, even those that don't write much about television. With the awful dialogue and meandering plot, the show could use something huge like that.
  24. I'd put it differently: the show always insinuates (lots of) things rather than point the finger... until it commits to something. See: MonA, TobAy, EzrA, all hookups... Then, some short time before a reveal, it abandons subtlety. @truthaboutluv, maybe this angle will help lower your frustration: these spoilers are not just massive, but also utterly unconfirmed. Until they start panning out, they could be read as speculation rather than actual spoilers and they soon could become irrelevant. This way, someone who checks the thread later can just skip them if they are already disproved. And even if the source is legit, it's just someone who was on set for some of the filming. For example, one of the comments says that there is no actual A Team aside from Melissa helping Wren, but I thought MK confirmed the existence of an A Team on twitter some time ago. Maybe their view on what an "A Team" is is different, maybe MK lied, or maybe this person missed a scene where the A Team is mentioned. Same goes for Andrew and others not being involved anymore (unless the actor wasn't on set at all, of course). IRC, the dollhouse leak was so perfect because the person read the actual script. ETA: So much this! I quit the show over it. But there still is hope from Black Widow. Charles and Red Coat are out of the way after the finale, but the show still has to go on, and there was no mention that she is gone too. Unless, of course, her being revealed as Melissa is the end of it - anticlimactic though, and weird that MK didn't beat the drum that this will be part of the Summer of Answers too.
  25. ^ Didn't the person say they were let go after the finale? How much of post-jump stuff would there be in the finale? "engaged/married/broken up" might not even have been written in at this point. One question though: who killed Mrs D and why? I am looking through the comments for this answer right now, but see nothing. Just like last time, I'm waiting for the next episode until I take the spoilers seriously or dismiss them. I do like some of it though (go. away. Sarah.) ETA: And Pollock just posted about this as I posted. lol. Also, I checked the comments and saw this: "there's only one scene. the girls get together years later after aria's written a book about everything. they all get a text at the same time, and they all look at each other freaked the fuck out and that's the end." so there you go.
