That's why it was short-lived--nobody watched it so we can barely remember it! :) -
Chicago Justice - General Discussion

Still overlapping. ETA: the Cook County website says: So in this series of shows, there is going to be tons of overlap with PD in "complementing and assisting." There's already overlap in that Voight sent Dawson's name over there. It was okay on Law&Order because there wasn't a complementary PD show. Personally I hope the focus in Justice will be on the justice and not on the investigating of the same kind of major crimes that PD is covering. -
Yeah, I commented late about last week's episode: The Chicagos are just lackadaisical when it comes to people taking off--in Fire this week, the chief's admin went on vacation unbeknownst to the chief. Sure, why not.

NBC is pretty clever too--the Chicagos are the backbone of their week. -
Chicago Justice - General Discussion

Although I liked this okay and the writing was good, I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. The show could have been called Law & Order. reset in NYC, and just restart a new season of that. what with the young earnest assistant, etc., etc. I don't know why there are cops on this show--it seems a big overlap of PD's work. They should probably focus on the Justice and let the police presence fade away (Nagel and Dawson can transfer to Chicago CTA or Sanitation or something), which would really differentiate it from the L&O style and look, and mesh better with the three other Chicago's (for instance, we see only the Fire paramedics on Med, we don't have other paramedics or ambulance units working from there). Peter Stone should adopt some of Ben Stone's seriousness and mannerisms (I adored Ben Stone's character on L&O) if he's supposed to be his son (even though we never knew anything about Ben Stone's personal life on L&O, including the existence of a son). And come on with the defense attorney conning them into playing right into his hands--bleah imo. That was just unnecessarily gimmicky considering the plot line was so strong. But I'll watch no matter what. Nah, even the judge herself said allowing Peter to put the defendant on the stand would help with the defendant's appeal--he'll be out in no time. -
So serious, so sad with Olinski's daughter. The scenes with his ex (I guess she's an ex?) and him were very moving.
-
That was pretty gruesome. A totally serious episode. Connie went on vacation and didn't even tell her boss, Boden? All rightee then. So now Anna will be on Med and we can have crossovers whenever she and Severide have a date. Sweet.

S04.E15: Favor, Affection, Malice, Or Ill-Will
MakeMeLaugh replied to WendyCR72's topic in Chicago PD
I just saw this episode and was so happy to see Bruce Altman, one of those L&O multiple-character staples! Although I get him confused with Jay O. Sanford, also a L&O staple with a strong wide jaw. Bring them all under the Chicago tent, Dick Wolf! Altman was the dad hiring Olinsky as a hit man--I kept waiting for the twist that never came of him being the big tuna if the hijacked firearms case (which actually confused me--that was just an undercover sting by the feds, not the undercover investigation I thought it was going to be?). Not believable at all to me that Ruzek went undercover without Voight's knowledge, let alone blessing, and then just reappears. Platt, I heart you so much. -
Made me look -- I see pitcher David Ross from the Chicago Cubs World Championship team ("my" David Ross and "my" Chicago Cubs, btw) so now I'm in. Damn. Will move my comments the DWTS boards, where I mght just say "Go away, Nick."
-
Pretty sure there were rumors after Kaitlyn's season that she was holding out for more DWTS money and negotiations with her fell apart. I was hoping she would be on just to see if she really could dance. Although only in DWTS universe is a Bachelor/ette considered a star. Unless there are some incredible real stars cast, I'm not watching Nick on it.
-
Yes! I love that the background folks know exactly what to do--how to move and carry equipment--in the firefighting scenes because that's what they really do.
-
Mr MML hasn't been in the Army for a long long time. Sure, historically, everything was segregated, and Nick's field, computer sales (and colleges! Nick's the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee vs Luke's West Point) today is probably full of diversity.... But my point is not that either Luke or Nick is or isn't happier with women of color (and I pray that isn't a factor in who they are attracted to), it was the sort of assumption that Nick and only Nick can open the door for Rachel. /sarcasm on Because sure, a beautiful smart accomplished personable woman who happens to be a minority can't be cast otherwise without Nick's help, and Luke of course wouldn't want to bring a beautiful smart etc. woman home /sarcasm off. (And Luke already "lost" the Bachelor competition, so bringing him into it at all sort of irritates me, I admit, my fault--like over the weekend, hearing people still running Hillary down, but I digress). I won't see it but I bet there will be some women of color at Nick's hometown dates with F1 and F2 regardless of whether Rachel is still on the show. I can remember Nick's family meeting one of the Bettes in a little room at a restaurant and cannot remember his family's ethnic makeup from that (don't think there were friends there)--maybe someone else can. Okay, beating my dead horse, Sorry. I really look forward to Rachel's season and hope the guys are as amazing as she seems to be.
-
This implies Luke would not date a woman of color and that Rachel, a woman of color, is Nick's type. I'm not watching Nick's season (because Nick, ick) but are these things both true and how would we know that? From BIP and the two Bachelorette series where Nick was F2, which I did watch, he seemed willing indeed to do anything to be front and center, but how do we know that Nick and only Nick could be the Bachelor to be able to lead in the first Minority Bachelorette Ever?

I've never seen it but that hotel was the old South Shore Country Club, now the SS Cultural Center, a gem on the South Side. So beautiful. Yes NJRadioGuy the portrayal of virtually all the outside 51 people was incredibly insulting to the actual CFD. I don't think there are firefighters anywhere allowed to be as heavy and slobby as some of the non-51 men on this episode. Everyone was such a cartoon character this episode. Including Boden. Much gnashing of teeth there yet so ineffective at restoring 51 until he yes indeed got lucky in personally rescuing the deputy mayor. Another wrongly persecuted Boden thread put paid to. And Anderson has carte blanche to totally disrupt the system? Capp and Cruz to Dispatch? His superiors are that powerless against him? That Gabby--such a burr up her butt in the restaurant. Maybe using the kitchen entrance would actually have been better for the fingerless guy (sure, parade an injured man on foot through a crowded room) but she don't care, she's Gabby. I enjoyed her temporary partner and would love to see more of him. That Severide, seriously considering Springfield. Not. Not even the governor lives there anymore. We already knew you would stay. (ETA I just drove through Springfield on Sunday and nothing against it, but a Chicago native like Severide isn't moving there for a job he could work toward in Chicago without a really good reason, and Anna doesn't seem to be it.) So all the loose threads are quickly tied up, ready for the most dramatic four-way crossover episode ever next week!

I believe Manning has recently treated an adult kidney patient with HIV brother, a college student with surprise cancer, and the car accident woman who just happened to have mirror girl for a daughter. She is all over the place so she can be judgey with everyone! Rhodes like Manning gets his specialty patients when they have plotlines but otherwise is often outside his specialty too. Only Dr Charles, and now Reese mostly, sticks with psychiatry (probably the least typical primary reason for which a patient goes to the ER, vs pediatrics, which must be a much higher percentage) virtually every episode. I wonder if the original idea was to make this less of an ER show but here we are. (Mr MML has had cardiac surgery at surprise! a big Chicago hospital that is not Med-ish and doubtful his docs could go near a non-cardiac patient, what with liability and area of expertise issues). Maybe Halsted and Choi are trauma docs? Not a big deal.

I don't get this. The US Army is made up of 21 percent African Americans (http://www.statisticbrain.com/demographics-of-active-duty-u-s-military/). I imagine Luke would have been quite comfortable with the idea of bringing Rachel or any other African American home to meet the family. Is Nick's hometown or family supposed to be more enlightened? I do agree with the above poster that Show knew Nick would do anything they asked, just as he did on Kaitlyn's show, which may not have been true of an All American Army Vet. Who knows what they asked....

What's really funny to me about Boden being unfairly persecuted every single season by the brass is that a) he never does anything wrong and doesn't seem at all like a shady character, while b) his counterpart on Chicago PD, Voight, is ALWAYS doing things wrong, sometimes really wrong, and is hardly ever even called out on it, never mind being suspended; PD also seems to offer many more opportunities for misbehavior than Fire but the PD writers don't really go there.
-
I know, I said that wrong. Sorry. Maybe generic, as all the other docs' specialties except Charles's and now Reese's seem to get blurred into general emergency medicine--S'epatha asked Charles's permission to use Reese for the disaster victims. Maybe they can spin off into Chicago Psych.

Great names, Tiger. I finally saw this episode last night. The whole storyline felt so contrived to me. And reminiscent of the early episode when Manning and Rhodes, I think it was, fought over the only oxygen tank in the city of Chicago. The blood drive was interesting (everyone could take a break at the same time from the disaster to give blood for thirty minutes?) and without Choi being the right type with prescreened blood, would have been futile anyway. Of course. I hope Wheeler's character gets treated with support vs becoming a villain--Rhodes looks at him with a lot of judginess in his eyes. I made Mr MML rewatch Manning's dramatic overexpressive face when Blood Mom asked her if she was a bad mother/what would she tell her son. The silent range of emotions was pretty funny imo. And she never did answer her. She's so bad. I think it's time to bring Choi in from the military and let him just be a doctor without the constant comparisons to medicine on the frontlines. We get it, Show, and we love him anyway. Or just spin him off to a new show, like Chicago Army. I'm sure all the staff would have kept Burn Victim alive if they could til his wife arrived. I want Reese back as a regular doctor. At least Xanax Prick took his sarcasm pills. When Latham was formally labelled as autistic and wanted the shock therapy a few weeks ago, I was disappointed that his diagnosis wasn't presented as an asset, something that could make him a better doctor, so I was really glad this episode showed that.

S42.E14: Alec Baldwin / Ed Sheeran

Show should have put her in her toy soldier inauguration day outfit. Damn the real KAC makes me laugh without her knowing how stupid she looks and acts. Kate doesn't even come close to the hilarity KAC invokes. -
Yes, crs, I too thought offering free drinks to someone who had been down on his luck was a really stupid idea. I cannot believe we get ANOTHER manufactured, persecuted by the higher ups Boden storyline. Come on, Show--you are so unoriginal. I don't even care anymore--just get rid of him if he's that much of a lightning rod for the brass. Really tiresome. Why does Springfield think Severide would do a good job as a battalion chief? Why would he have those skills and training? And yes, Stella, he would hate Springfield.

The Bachelor Season 21: Spoilers and Speculation
MakeMeLaugh replied to leighdear's topic in The Bachelor
If Bachelorette wants to be so "groundbreaking" as to choose a person of color as its star (okay, maybe groundbreaking would have been a long time ago), then the producers are probably going to be picky about the bachelors, so I imagine they want the word out there as far in advance as possible so men know whose show they are applying to be on and she will end up with the best guys ever. It's going to be the Most Obviously Diverse Show ever! -

I usually hate this but I want to see a skinny man play Kellyanne. Although I personally would also love seeing Melania played as a big fat joke just to get under not-my-president's skin, I do appreciate the show's decision not to use the family members as fodder. The people who ran or went after their jobs are 100 percent fair game. -

Did the writers really think that monolog was funny? It was suuuuch a waste of time. I thought Melissa was being filmed off set and edited, it was so good--last and this weeks' works should be textbook for anyone in the biz (including whoever was involved with the monolog). Tight writing, perfect timing, pitchperfect delivery, surprises. Not a wasted word.
