House Hunters International - General Discussion

I thought she decided to shake up her life after the divorce. She seemed extremely determined to rebound from the divorce, like she heard all the pep talks, read all the books, and was moving forward. -
Ruby has always seemed creepy to me, but never more than when she's prying into Elena's business.

You heard correctly.

Paranormal Caught On Camera - General Discussion
mojito replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Paranormal Caught On Camera
I agree about the "experts". They know about paranormal lore, but their explanations are nothing more than guesses. UFOs have been around forever, so the portions of the show devoted to them are a waste of time. Yeah, there are things floating around out there. 'Nuff said. Just once I wish someone who encountered a Big Foot was carrying around a DLSR camera with a telephoto lens that can actually capture the zipper running down its back. Comedian Mitch Hedberg declared that Big Foot himself is blurry, and that's why no one can find him. Some of this footage, though, is so compelling because you can't even figure out how the incident or the being could have been faked. -

Every time I see her (I know I've seen her at least once before), I think the exact same thing. She's towered over the couple. They were such opposites. He was practically bouncing off the walls and laughing and she was so...still. -
Atlanta Soon-to-Be Newlyweds They've been together for 14 years, however, and look to be well into their 40s, maybe early 50s, so they're not kids. She likes country, he likes city. Kevin has to go down for me as the house hunter who made me laugh the most. My favorite line was when he commented that when he said he wanted to live in a community where folks are getting together, he didn't mean getting together for a hoe down. What was most impressive to me was that he was still making her laugh, too. I liked the farmhouse-looking home, but it wasn't the right place for them. Very entertaining episode.

Your old brain's got nothing on mine. My last post was edited and posted probably a second before your post. When I first wrote it, I thought today was Monday.

House Hunters International - General Discussion

Korea to Puerta Vallarta This is the first time that I have ever said this...I really loved the woman's dog. Too bad she's 11, this seems to be the most important being in this woman's life. I didn't care for any of her choices. This was a good case of not doing enough research before moving, because she thought that for $750 she could live large at the beach. -
As far as I know, a certified clinical psychologist is a Ph.D., not an MD. Just about everyone from that area of NJ is a New Yorker who never wanted to move to NJ. 😏

Toronto to Rivera Maya I liked this couple. They seemed to have a great relationship, and didn't act like they were competing with each other to get what they wanted. They had opinions on the kind of place they wanted to live (he wanted to walk be near "everything", she wanted a more rural environment), and only wanted a two-bedroom, two-bath home. Nothing said about a place being modern or looking like they're in Mexico, needing a pool, or wanting to walk to the beach. He has a company that he will run from a distance, she has quit nursing. I liked that they had a very decent but not outrageous budget, so with their modest wish list, they could purchase something really nice, which they certainly did. -
I hear ya. Lately, I've been rolling my eyes at "doable", "absolutely love", "cozy", "'wow' factor". And the word slash must be used in a sentence where a room has a dual purpose because if you just say "office guest room" no one would know what you were talking about. Does HGTV give people a vocabulary list? In the Hudson Valley episode, there was concern that one of the girls would have to give up her bedroom temporarily when the father came to visit. That's what you did back in the Dark Ages when "company" stayed over (you didn't "entertain") and it was usually a fun change from routine. People seem more averse to sharing or economizing or sacrificing than ever. Is this a good thing?

I thought of it as an outtake, some extra footage thrown after the show was over to give us one more chuckle, and not meant to be part of the series.

This episode was laughable. Who writes this stuff, a teenager? I feel a little embarrassed for the actors.

Portugal to Phnom Penh I got my wish. Another European couple. She said there weren't many jobs in her field (art) in Portugal, so she took an art director job in Phnom Penh. He is working on a double-masters. It took awhile for me to finally conclude that the reason why only her commuting concerns were considered is that he must be doing his program via distance learning. He insisted on good Internet. And a gas stove. And a pool. Surprisingly, they went for the costlier apartment, which I didn't see coming since she seemed adamant about sticking to a $400 budget, but I believe they got everything they wanted for $500. Hope they enjoy their stay. I have a feeling it'll be brief. -
I thought this was it. There's something even bigger? Or maybe she scaled down her requirements. These two looked so petite in several of the shots.

Canada to Costa Rica Kids say the darnedest things. The guy asks the bartender how to say "mojito" in Spanish. -

Canada to Costa Rica This couple will be YouTube stars, of course. My guess is that they'll be filming their lives (including fitness activities and water activities) in Costa Rica. She was a teacher, he was a plumber. -
The red herring house probably belonged to friends of the couple, so they had to find the place acceptable even if they hated it. I think this was only the second HH episode I've seen where a kosher kitchen was desired; until then, I didn't know about the dual fridges and ovens requirement plus the different kitchenware for the dairy (she just said "milk") and meat. This couple didn't mention all of that, though. I'm sure there are varying degrees of adherence to the old laws. (Puzzling, when you think that and the milk and meat frequently come from the same animal, and that only occurred to me during this episode.) Arlington Heights Area For the entire program, I found myself being in disbelief of how much this couple had changed since their wedding picture. It was as though 25 years had passed. The wife wanted their son to have the same experiences she had when she grew up in Arlington Heights. I can already hear her future laments about how things have changed so much in that city since she was a kid--and not for the good. The husband wanted a basketball hoop over the garage door. He looked like he could easily get winded quite retrieving that first rebound. Connecticut to Second home in Vermont I wonder how frequently this couple will find themselves making the drive to Vermont after that first year or so?

@pdlinda, I get both Share and Edit as choices under edit. When I try the ellipse under someone else's post, I only get Share. Not sure how to explain this one. You're logged in at the time you're trying to edit, right?

It's clear that our providers are handling these shows differently. YouTubeTV discerns the difference between old and new and completely bypasses the one-hour package as far as recording is concerned.
-
Right, but my provider doesn't package these shows as new. Per my YTT guide, I'm getting only one new show on Monday. One half hour show.
-
Interesting. It's like we're dealing with two HGTVs. My content is being delivered as a half hour show, and listed as "new" and there is no theme attached. YouTubeTV doesn't recognize old shows as new. YTT gives you unlimited recording, so reruns are already in the library for the appropriate season if it's a fairly recent season. My shows are listed by season and episode. Yesterday I got two new shows recorded, listed as Season 226, Episodes 1 and 3, Chicago (mentioned above) and CT family searches for Vermont vacation home.
-
Is this packaged as a one hour show? I'm not seeing any shows that are two different episodes in a half hour period. I don't have any one-hour shows either. Maybe it's a cable thing.

I discounted the three guys for the same reason, which left only Javier as the possibility. I was expecting a monkey wrench to be thrown into Roarke and Javier's relationship, and there it was. Better show than the last one. I appreciated the diverse cast.
