  1. Does anyone here shop at BevMo? I look at their weekly flyers, and I don't see any bargains ... you have to buy multiples to get a discount. Also, is it a membership store? There is one near me, but I haven't mustered the courage to go inside.
  2. I just looked, and Roger and Ann-Margret have been married 50 years. That's amazing for Hollywood.
  3. I had a friend whose bedroom was wallpapered with Donny Osmond pictures out of magazines. Literally wallpapered.
  4. Which Snapper? David Hasselhoff?
  5. If I think real hard, I think my first tv crush was James Stacey on Lancer. I don't think he turned out to be a nice person, though. He recently passed from cancer. I think the appeal of Moe was brains -- he was the smart one. I also liked Ken Berry and Dan Blocker.
  6. I wonder if we live in the same area, because it's been windy here the past few days. It does make me cranky -- last night, after work, I was definitely "okay, enough with the f'king wind already." My employer does not provide adequate parking for employees, and the businesses next door have politely requested that we not use their lots. I still do, but I park in the least favorable spot so that I am not hindering their customers, and so far they haven't said anything. I can see my car from work, so if a tow truck showed up, I could intervene.
  7. I think tornadoes tend to be humid, so probably some negative ions there.
  8. Just a warning to anyone posting personal images -- Google Images will capture your photo and it will live on in perpetuity. It's an interesting experience to search with Google and find your own photo in the results.
  9. What's her name, Byteme? So sweet.
  10. I think there's a correlation. Wind kicks up the positive ions and static electricity, and it's the negative ions (rain, pounding surf) that enhance well-being. I think crime rates in Los Angeles go up during the Santa Ana winds.
  11. At breakfast, the husband says to his wife “What would you do if I won the Lotto?” “ I’d take half and leave you” she says. “Great” he says. “Here's $6. I won $12 yesterday! Stay in touch."
  12. I am a huge fan of geraniums, as well.
  13. I think the usage of steak for a black eye came about because the steak would be cold. Another home remedy is to use frozen peas as an ice pack. The Progressive commercials mimicking soap operas make me laugh. "I stood by you when you had amnesia!" "You know I can't remember that!" and then Susan Lucci comes down the stairs.
  14. It's difficult to tell when I'm watching the news, lately. The Ancestry DNA database must be larger than the FBI's by now.
  15. The headlights are probably automatic. I've been told that certain makes will not allow you to turn them off. Cars do all their own thinking, they don't need us any more.
  16. Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Person asked a young Engineer fresh out of MIT, "And what starting salary were you looking for?" The Engineer said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package." The interviewer said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, a company matching retirement fund for 50% of your salary, and a company car leased every 2 years -- say, a red Corvette?" The Engineer sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?" And the interviewer replied, "Yes, but you started it."
  17. Isn't sandwich spread sort of like Thousand Island dressing?
  18. You'll be happy to know that someone wrote a book. I think it's called W(h)ine, but I could be wrong. I'm just killing time at the end of a work day. Riesling pairs perfectly with an explosive poopy diaper. ... Chardonnay goes great with a middle schooler's attitude adjustment. ... Choose Sauvignon Blanc when you feel like the walls are caving in on you. ... Pair a Merlot with child terrorism. Pinot Noir goes well with dented or scratched vehicles. Cabernet Sauvignon pairs perfectly with poor hygiene.
  19. Thanks for the recipe, annzeepark914. I might try it. I think my dinner tonight is Trader Joe's shrimp pot stickers, following an introductory appetizer of fermented white grape juice.
  20. A duck at our office had 12.
  21. Rats. Now I want pie.
  22. The CW has picked up the reboot of Dynasty. http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/‘dynasty’-reboot-picked-up-to-series-at-the-cw/ar-BBAZAnO "It follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington, daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington, and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class."
  23. Reading the preferences, I feel quite pedestrian. I like oaky chardonnays and cabernets. I prefer California wines because it's my home. I had an amazing Barbera from Oak Farms in Lodi, but you have to buy it at the winery. I adore Toasted Head chardonnay, buttery and toasty and inexpensive. I was feeling adventurous and tried a Vinho Blanco (?) from Portugal, and it was just awful (drank it anyway). Anyway, for those of you spending $50 and $100 on a bottle of wine, I submit the following: http://www.slate.com/articles/life/drink/2011/11/why_you_should_be_drinking_cheap_wine.html http://www.reversewinesnob.com/
