  1. I like the music, but the guy seems so happy that Toujeo should be an anti-depressant. I want to take Toujeo so I can dance through my day, too.
  2. Remember all of this before you have children with this person. I have an acquaintance -- when they married, they were planning on three children. With the first baby, husband never lifted a finger. Wife was working full time, and still responsible for everything at home. The last I heard, she said no more children. One was too much.
  3. Reputable shops don't do that, so I wouldn't go back to that repair facility. Also, many young modern men don't know anything about cars, either, so they get taken advantage of, as well.
  4. Is he in the will? :) :) If it were me, I'd send him a note with a copy of the obit. (Of course, nowadays, I guess it's an email with a link.) He should be told, but he must be aware that his mother is 96. If it meant anything to him, he would have made an effort. Something I've been meaning to ask ... BB, you have mentioned "getting the call" a few times. Do you not want to be present? Some do, some don't, I'm not judging, but you might give it some thought.
  5. Or you could tuck them away for the apocalypse.
  6. Ants! It's an invasion!! I think the key word is charity -- hopefully, if they do things on the cheap, more money went to the charity.
  7. Thoughts and prayers, Bronx Babe. I'm glad you can be there with your mom.
  8. I would think "catered lunch" means that someone else does the cooking? :) (As opposed to a pot luck.) But, yes, they should have read the notices. Maybe next year the price should be printed extra large and extra bold.
  9. I'm sorry, CanuckGal. Sending hugs and strength.
  10. I wouldn't worry about it. They are good at sorting and routing. They do throw a lot away, too. The Goodwill near me has a store, and a large donation center at the rear. I like it because they take just about everything -- including e-waste. I haven't been back, but hopefully the trucks have been and gone and they are once again accepting donations (even if they do throw a lot away). I like the American Cancer Society Discovery shops, and one of the churches has a thrift shop, and I save the best things to take to those places; however, their hours are limited. Goodwill is open until 7 p.m.
  11. That's what I was thinking; wasn't there a series of ads suggesting we substitute Special K for dinner to lose weight?
  12. There is also a profound difference between solitude and loneliness. Solitude can be addicting, once you see how peaceful it is.
  13. Ten cents. Now, that brings back memories.
  14. When it comes to something like cancer, I think you really should see a doctor, not self-diagnose and walk into the office saying "I want this drug, I saw it on tv." It doesn't bother me. I get a Harry Potter vibe, like that guy with all the wands. Maybe it will be like the KFC Colonel, and there will be different singers. Just guessing.
  15. I remember an interview with Rock Hudson in his later years (but before AIDS). He said he was amazed at how accurately their characters had looked, because by then, Rock did look just like the older Bick. Liz looked like Leslie, but Liz dyed her hair. I love Chill Wills. "You know that bourbon will kill you." "Well, it or me, one of us has to go."
  16. A-ha! That would explain the dead air when I pick up the phone. I get a lot of those.
  17. I love Giant! Read the book, too. Rock Hudson as Bick Benedict, Elizabeth at the height of her beauty, and James Dean and Dennis Hopper. Love. But you aren't a medical professional.
  18. I got a chain letter by fax. It's very simple. You just fax a dollar bill to everybody on the list.
  19. Maybe they think if they wake you up, you'll be groggy and vulnerable.
  20. Well, as long as we're on the subject, I think my favorite line is (and fingers crossed that it's taken with levity): Rose: I just want you to know no matter what you do, you're gonna die, just like everybody else. Cosmo Castorini: Thank you, Rose.
  21. I think most of them are; I don't know of any hospice that is a physical location, aside from the administrative offices. Like I've been trying to explain, they have resources and experience, and they will help you. They are not the enemy. I hope you will at least listen to what they have to say. Please do it for your mother.
  22. I'm sorry, but that's kind of funny. :) Life can be such a roller-coaster.
  23. I think they are recommending hospice from a place of kindness. You would want your mother comfortable and pain-free; you won't get that kind of care in a hospital.
