  1. Is it just me, or do you tune out in a daze with most of the parts that contain the Getty grandson? I find I perk right up with the scenes containing the investigator, the Getty mansion, or even the mom. I could have totally skipped over last week's episode until the end. This week is just a lot of this kid who I don't even feel sorry for anymore and I find myself checking my phone, getting a snack etc. The minute we see a cowboy investigator laying on a rock, I am tuned in. More is said in his body language even then with the whole tormented grandson.
  2. They have been in my city of Hamilton ON shooting some scenes - several evenings in mid-November they were in a large park across from my house. Very exciting - I don't want to give anything away but I saw large numbers of handmaids in red and heard the director giving them directions on how to do the scene. From the looks of it they shot all night long over a couple of evenings. We could watch from far back so I didn't get close enough to see if Elizabeth Moss was there or not.
  3. Is it just me or does anyone else think that talking on your cell phone in a public or work place washroom while you are in the cubicle doing your bizzness is bad form? I see it a lot but today at the beginning of lunch was just over the top. I work in a hospital and a woman was in a cubicle talking loudly and I just assumed she was speaking to her friend in another cubicle but nope - she walks out of the cubicle still yapping and then washes up and leaves. The gist of the conversation was just small talk, it's not like she was giving or receiving vital information such as a family member in jeopardy, etc. To add another layer of rude she was still wandering around the little cafe in the front of the hospital yapping on her cell phone and just walks in front of me abruptly to grab something so I had to almost jump to avoid hitting her. Sheesh. While I am on this roll, I see this young woman all the time in my neighbourhood pushing her toddler in a stroller and yapping on her phone. I see her up and down the street, in the park pushing toddler on swing and still yap yap on the phone. Am I getting old? Why not put the phone down and actually be in the moment with the toddler and play?
  4. The Commanders house! I drive past that house and iron gate everyday on the way home from work. I would have loved to have seen the filming of this in my city. Also loved seeing the City Hall in Toronto.
  5. My ultimate favourite place for the last few years has been New York City!
  6. Hi all, I am a newbie to this board but am a veteran of the online dating site scene. I did meet someone for me who is a good match but it took years and so many doozy stories which now just make me laugh but at the time depressed the heck out of me. One fellow I met for a walk wanted a relationship but then I found out he wanted me to help him be with a man. Another one I met for a drink at a patio just sat there - basically in a monotone said he just wanted "fun" but he actually was no fun on the date. I figured maybe I bore him (also I wanted more than just a fun on the side guy) so I finished my drink and politely thanked him but when I got up to leave he looked surprised that I wasn't staying for another drink and hanging out with him. HUH? One fellow was interesting on the phone so we set up an early evening drink date at a pub - he was so much shorter and heavier than his profile indicated so that was the first red flag but we did have a drink and a nice chat. I figured that we were there already and we could just have a generic conversation about life, which we did. Then he wanted me to come home with him - even though we didn't flirt, touch, or give off any signals that we were attracted to each other. He then texted me and left me phone messages all night long that said I was going to die alone, that I was psycho, why didn't I like him etc. I could go on and on. I laugh now as these are my war stories that I survived. I did meet someone who was nice and sincere and we hit it off and have been together for 5 years now so I am happy.
  7. This tv series was filmed all around me! I'm so excited. The exterior shots of the commanders house are a 10 minute drive! I am so hooked on this series after 2 episodes.
  8. I enjoyed this series, short as it was. Not much Caroline though. Christina Onassis did not resemble the real Christina and I wish they would have showed more of the actual funeral - from what I read, Jackie, Ted and Christina got into an altercation in the limo over money and Christina got out of the limo.
  9. If they don't get it then I would just order that dessert to go and enjoy it at home. Sometimes people have brick heads. No matter what you say you will be in the wrong.
  10. Oh my goodness! You were put into a bad spot by simply ordering your own treat! It kind of makes the whole friends dinner turn sour, doesn't it? I feel for you. Having an entire piece to yourself and feeling bad about it because of your friend's demand is certainly not good at all. I wouldn't want to go out with these friends again for sure. I dated a guy once for about almost a year we would have been mid forties - and when we went out we would order nice drinks for example a large decorative margarita - I wanted to savour mine and he would usually drink his down and then want to taste mine too. Not once but maybe twice or more. It would give me the heebie jeebies because instantly the date which was otherwise going well would turn me off. I started to drink my drink faster just on principle alone so he couldn't ask for some. That relationship lasted less than a year when he dumped me at midnight on New Years Eve over email (he lived in another city and we couldn't spend that holiday together) Jeez eh!
  11. Oh I did tell her about it back in the day - as I also did in this recent episode of her grabbing food that I mentioned in my original post. I stopped her dead and said would you like me to put some on a plate for you, as opposed to helping herself. I wasn't going to lecture her on the scene in front of all our old friends at a reunion. I haven't seen her really in more than 25 years since high school and I guess I was just venting on the "pet peeve" board that I cannot get over people who do not grow up and get this concept. I have a feeling that people have called her on it as well but she just thinks we have the problem not wanting to share.
  12. Okay here is my pet peeve, been bothering me for years - I have a friend for decades and she has a habit of reaching over and spearing her fork in your food in a restaurant and trying your food. She did it through high school and college and now we are middle aged and at a high school get together recently she reached over as soon as the waiter put my food down and she speared some of my poutine. I almost lost it in front of everyone and I held it in but curtly said: why don't I put some on a little plate for you? It was frikking embarrassing and not to mention she is now a middle aged professional women who should know how to act in public. She always prefaces the fork stabbing with something like: sharesies!! and then she pounces. I hated it back when we were young but thought she had outgrown it years later and I don't know how to react!
  13. I needed that laugh thanks! Yes I agree. I raised a couple of kids and they were not always perfect but I knew when and where to take them so they wouldn't get in the way of others who have the right to a quiet nice dinner in a restaurant etc. I never did understand why people would take small children to a nice restaurant when the kids basically are bored, don't appreciate, and then play or run around or under tables, or loudly play ipads with movies on them. If I wanted to listen to a disney movie or stupid youtube videos played so loud 3 tables over can hear it, then I wouldn't go to a nice restaurant. I pay for my food and the ambience and time with special people. I don't want to see/hear loud kids running around. Am I wrong? Same thing happened when I took a bus to Montreal from Toronto. I was looking forward to the 6 hour bus ride to read, and watch the scenery. Instead I got a kid behind me playing the cartoon "Rango" super loud for hours. I say: buy headphones mom and think about everyone else on the bus.
  14. That is really bad form on the mother's fault @auntlada. Sorry to hear about your runaround. The cancelling mom really should have went out of her way to confirm from everyone that they understood the party was not on after all. I had an experience years ago from the opposite end of the spectrum if this gives you a giggle - I sent hand written invitations out to all the boys in the kindergarten class for my sons birthday. (*before the internet was super popular when hand written invites were about the best you could do where you included your home phone number for questions) My son handed them all out to the boys. One boy never rsvp'd and never showed up which was totally fine with me and I never gave it another thought. One year later I get a phone call from this kids mother stating he was rsvp'ing to the party. I was confused - I thought perhaps my son had told kids he was having another party. I asked her what party she was speaking about. She said she had found the invitation in her son's backpack (no year was on it, just the month, date, time and venue of party) I told her that party was one year ago - she said she had just found the invite in the backpack now. I said oh my goodness, and that I was sorry she hadn't found the invite earlier but really what else could I say? She said to me well what do I do now? She was ticked. I heard her say to the kid standing by her on the phone that the party was a year ago. The kid started wailing. The mom said to me: "now look what is going on" and she sounded like it was my fault. At that point I was reeling - what does one say in this situation? She huffed off the phone and I just shook my head.
  15. Wow Mr. Smith! I work at a university too up here in Canada and they literally have no clue. None. Whether they are on their phones or not, they seem to feel like they "own" the world or something. When the elevators in the building open they just walk in whether or not some people are exiting. I always thought you let the people get off first and then walk in. I guess not if you own the world. They just barge in and then everyone has to do the double time jostle to allow the people at the back of the elevator get off at their chosen floor. I mean it is so silly. Have manners gone? Where is common sense?
