I think Jessa is the most like Meech and Boob in terms of parenting. Almost every other kid (other than Josh and Anna of course) I see the children trying to do something that they didn't get to do as kids. Jessa seems to quadruple down on the very things she probably hated the most about her childhood.

The affair baby stuff is also something I've never actually seen in the wild. Like most people will just say "my brother/sister" or "my half-brother/sister." Sometimes the siblings are close, sometimes they're not. But I've never heard of affair babies being like a permanent tattooed scarlet A except on certain subreddits.

Posts are like this. "My mom had an affair when I was 9 and left my dad and family and had an affair baby. I've never forgiven my mom. The affair baby is now in her teens and contacted me saying she's my sister and wants to have a relationship. I blocked her immediately but not before telling her that she is an embarrassment to even be born and she has a lot of nerve even writing to me. AITA?" And commenters would be like "NTA. Affair babies have no right to reach out to family members. They should have been thrown down the well when they were born but since they're alive, the least they can do is to never contact any family members. They should live with the shame that their parents were skanks and whores forever." That will be the most upvoted comment.

I don't actually begrudge any Duggar child for posting YT videos because none of them were ever given an education or job skills. If this is the way they want to get some extra change, so be it. My only objection with YT is when people spread misinformation or hateful messages. So far, Jana's channel is pretty innocuous.

I'm still bitter about how little attention The Great got. An awesome, hilarious show with amazing acting. I also understand why it ended when it ended, but am bitter it was canceled after three seasons.

Today's pet peeve is a particular mindset that's popular on reddit that "affair babies" deserve to be shunned for life because "mom was a ____" (fill in the blank). This idea is so popular around certain places in the internet.

Her husband is part of the problem. He enables her. To give you an example of how: his elderly mother was flying in from Europe to visit him. 12 hour flight and all. The nanny was not around bc it was the weekend and my sister forbid him from picking her up at the airport bc she didn't "feel like" caring for their daughter in the hour or so it would take to pick up grandma at the airport. Nor would she allow her daughter to ride in the car with him bc that meant putting on pull-up diapers and she "didn't feel like" changing them when they got home. Her husband immediately complied, no questions.

Ok really thinking about getting the ad-free version. It's now one ad every 10 minutes. So annoying.

I really think part of it is Jana is older. A 34 year old's courtship even in fundie families is going to look different than an 20-year old's courtship for the simple reason that a 34 year old has more life experiences and is less pliable to the kind of bullshit JimBob would insist upon for younger, more naive couples. Also, we might laugh at Jana's tiny house (although I live in NYC and many apartments in NYC are much smaller), but that tiny house gave Jana some much needed privacy. She could facetime her bf within the confines of her own room. Hell, they might even have sexted a little.

I think an issue with my sister is that she doesn't do anything. She hasn't left the house except for medical reasons for 4 years. She's so afraid of covid that they haven't eaten at a restaurant, seen a movie, nothing. The pandemic stopped her life in its tracks and she permanently shut down her engine and refuses to restart. She doesn't work. She has a child she doesn't care for. She says she "doesn't have the capability" but with her husband working from home and also taking care of the daughter non-stop, and also the nanny, my sister doesn't have to do much. She has a doctorate but doesn't even have any normal clothes left bc she says what's the point of wearing normal clothes if she never leaves the house. It was actually a huge deal that I convinced her to subscribe to Peacock so she could watch the Olympics this summer. God this is depressing.

We text. But even Facetime degenerates into her bitching nonstop about things. For instance, she will whine that she hasn't gone anywhere in 4 years. I say then go somewhere. "But we are very covid cautious." "Then wear a mask." That immediately turns into her yelling at me that I'm not sensitive to all her needs, etc. It never ends, sigh.

I am so annoyed by how many ads Max now has. Is the ad-free version worth it? I do watch a lot of Max shows.

Jessa is the worst shiller for anything bc she is so blase about plugging things. In order to plug things you have to have enthusiasm for things you plug. She's pulling up to the thrift sale like she's doing her taxes.

I interpreted "one of Gothard's girls" to mean that Jana was a favorite within the fundie community. And ... she is. She's been hailed as a model of devoutness, femininity, and devotion to family. Also been praised for her evident organizational skills in running such a huge family.

From what I understand the husband really wanted the kid.

I continue to be irrationally angry at whoever cast Cam. What a waste of space.

Both Jlo and Ben seem like difficult people to live with.

Ok i'm about to trauma dump. I have a sister who is a severely difficult, cluster-B type personality. Two years ago she had a daughter. Since the daughter is my only niece, I try to visit her once a year. This year, she wanted me to visit the same week her nanny is on vacation. (Note: my sister does not work. She is not rich. She just doesn't like taking care of her daughter.) So I visit the day after I get back from a big overseas trip. My sister won't allow her husband to pick me up from the airport because she says she doesn't like to watch her daughter alone. Had to get a cab to and from the airport even though the husband has a car and drives all the time, because she doesn't like to watch her daughter. During the visit, I ended up paying for all the meals. Mine, hers, and her husbands. Her house simply had no food. If I ordered food, she asked for an add-on. I ended up paying huge amounts for their orders. Fine, whatever, since she doesn't work and her husband has to pay for a nanny, money is tight, I get it. Her rules are ridiculous. When her daughter is taking a mid-afternoon nap downstairs (she has a little area downstairs to sleep which is hardwood floor so they can begin potty-training her), I have to be upstairs as to not wake my niece. What's more, I cannot move. I cannot leave my room. I cannot use the toilet. If I use the toilet, I cannot flush. The reason: any noise might "upset" my napping niece (downstairs). I cannot go downstairs. I once wanted to go jogging while niece was sleeping, and got screamed at, because that would mean walking downstairs. You cannot use butter knives to cut small things, like bread or grapes. (She wanted me to slice grapes in half for her niece.) Huge house rule is that only she and her husband can use the butter knives. Every year she whines that I don't visit enough. But when I do visit, this is what happens. Sad thing is, my niece is adorable.

Meh being part of the wedding party is overrated. It's actually a lot of stress. Some brides can be extremely entitled and demanding. Jill and Derick were at the wedding, maybe they even kicked back and had a glass of champagne.
