  1. Because of the way the show kept getting moved around and didn't have typical seasons poor Brenda on Rules of Engagement got pregnant in April 2011 and had the baby in May 2013.
  2. Our local grocery store does this as well. The added benefit is you can pass the cart you no longer need along to another shopper and feel like Lady Bountiful as you wave away their offer of a quarter 😀.
  3. My Dad is 87 and his oldest grandchild will be turning 40 next year. I admit I'm curious to know what he thinks about these octogenarian fathers but maybe I don't want to hear the answer!
  4. I'm the opposite, had this for the first time as a teen and was hooked! With a family our size it was definitely not in the budget to rely on these canned products too often and when I first tried it at a friend's house it was everything I'd hoped it would be 😃. This was the same friend who introduced me to Kraft Dinner plain and also gussied up with a can of tuna added. I wanted to live at her house. My poor mother! We did not appreciate, at the time, all the work she went to to provide us with delicious homecooked meals. Luckily as time went by we did! But :small voice: I still like Chef Boyardee and also Kraft dinner.
  5. Elizabeth Holmes news – latest: Theranos founder surrenders to Texas prison to begin 11-year sentence
  6. The Brady Bunch house is for sale. Owning it is like 'living in the TV show,' says realtor
  7. This is where I fall with a lot of TV shows. I have to like at least one of the characters in order to make it a show I am going to go out of my way to watch. I enjoyed Everybody Loves Raymond so tried King of Queens and Brad Garrett's Til Death. I found neither show had even one character that I liked or cared about one little bit. Time to move on!
  8. I know I ranted a few months ago about my sister and her list of demands with regard to my mother's things. Today I had a bit of the last laugh is mine moment. I had called her to let her know that I had finished going through the last of the boxes that had been in my parents storage unit. Sis wanted a particular item I'd come across and started going on and on about how "That is such a favourite childhood memory for me. Mom getting that out was always the first sign that Christmas was coming..." I pointed out that this particular item was given to my mother the year after I got married. My sister is a year younger than me and no I was not a child bride. She has always done this - either she making it up or she genuinely has a completely false memory of our childhood - but this was one time when I was able to correct her with more than "well that's not how I remember it". Made me smile. BTW I am more than fine with her having it (Dad doesn't want any of the Christmas stuff) she didn't need to try to pull any heartstrings!
  9. I think she did. Also a set of metal folding TV tray tables always in a corner of the living room. That set even looked like the one my grandparents had! My parents were classier - there set was made of wood 😃)
  10. I don't know if anyone else is as surprised as I am to learn that there is going to be a new season for Storage Wars. It starts June 6th on A&E. A quick google search didn't bring up much so I'll probably check it out as I'm curious to see who's back. And who isn't!
  11. We bought the first season when it came out a number of years ago and just couldn't get past that the music had been changed. Were they able to resolve the licensing issues or did they keep having to change to music?
  12. I love that too but my favourite prop has to be the Big Fork and Spoon (although they did go with a smaller set after the first season). It was such a shout out to me of that generation. My parents had a set like that 🙂.
  13. Several friends of mine who had separation agreements did this with regard to university expenses. In their cases once the kids were in university the money went directly to the children (or actually directly to the university in one case) and the child support directed to the parent came to an end. This came as quite a surprise to one of the ex's in question - he thought he was going to get a cheque every month until both kids finished school. Nope.
  14. I was wondering what happens in situations like this where the children, no doubt for very good reason, are distancing themselves from a problematic celebrity parent, when it comes to money. They've enjoyed a lifestyle that they could not have had if Britney wasn't Britney Spears. Is she only obligated to pay child support only until they reach 18 or is there some caveat about paying for university etc? In which case does the money go directly to the boys or still to the father?
  15. And as the kids got older the house changed to reflect that. Which was a nice touch. The other side of the coin was nothing ever changed in Marie and Frank's house which looked like the decorated around 1970 (give or take a decade) and then left it. I loved that.
  16. We are very lucky because at some point in time or another the people who owned our house and the neighbours around us must have decided to go with a lilac motif in their yards. So as a result out back is a sea of lilacs extending along the backs of at least 6=8 houses. Maybe this was coincidence but I don't think so. No matter how it happened I am enjoying the result!
  17. Anyone else still finding that Covid hasn't gone away? I just got a phone call from my daughter and she and my grandson have been feeling miserable since yesterday and tested positive for Covid this morning. She's fairly sure she knows where they caught it but really who knows for sure? There is little to no masking anymore, social distancing is a thing of the past and I strongly suspect a lot of the people going around sneezing and coughing and saying "it's just allergies" probably have Covid and will never know because they won't test themselves unless they get a lot more serious symptoms.
  18. Our lilacs are blooming and the backyard looks, and smells!, wonderful. The time of the lilac is such a short one and is the compensation to me for the approach of summer - my least favourite season.
  19. I want a laundry room like the ones I see on TV. A separate room, with a lovely curtained window, bright, clean, fully furnished and with the high end washer and dryer taking pride of place. This is not, and never has been, my reality!
  20. I still have the one that was aired originally but haven't had a chance to watch. If there is a scene like that roughly where would it have happened? I'm planning to watch tonight so will keep an eye out for it or an obvious edit.
  21. To me the only reason I'd go is if it meant something to my bf. If he really wanted me to go I'd probably make an effort. iF he didn't care one way or another I'd be in front of the TV, laptop at hand a bag of chips nearby instead.
  22. Amazon I definitely started making more use of during the pandemic but I especially appreciated when I needed to order products for my mother which I was able to do in way where these items were being delivered on a regular basis - IIRC every 3 weeks - directly to her retirement residence. And the regular price thru Amazon was the price I'd be paying elsewhere only if I was lucky enough to come across a sale.
  23. A few years ago I was making a real effort to avoid places like Walmart in favour of going to local stores, or at least Canadian megastores anyway. Now I'm at the point where I just can't afford to be high minded anymore. Is anyone else experiencing this? Walmart has better prices on most household merchandize and, to be honest, their store brand food items (at least that we've tried) are pretty good especially for the price.
  24. Three's Company was based on the British sitcom "Man About the House". Was there a similar issue in England in the '70s with regard to an unmarried man sharing living quarters with women? Looking it up on wikipedia the claim was made that it was considered "daring" for the time.
  25. What I found on rewatching a few years ago was how unlikely it seemed to me that Phoebe would actually be friends with Monica and then by extension the rest of the gang. I accepted that when I first watched without question. But of course Friends, like most long running shows, made the characters caricatures of themselves by the end and you really see that better when you watch in a more compressed time frame.
