  1. Whoever chose this as their Olympic campaign should be fired but having William Dafoe do the narration was brilliant. It’s like a Green Goblin villain monologue. Nike should have stuck with the, “Watch where we’re going” campaign.
  2. He posts on social media. It is mentioned every single competition. I thought it was hilarious when they commented on Stephen’s game face but the guy was just doing the “I can’t see shit without my glasses” squint. As a side note, Stephen has convinced me that Superman’s glasses are actually a decent disguise.
  3. I am guessing that you didn’t see the comparison for the same reason I didn’t when I watched live. The pictures are a cropped stills that frame it like the DaVinci painting. In the live shot, it’s much clearer that it is a DJ and a bunch of people standing on the side of a table/catwalk. You can see that there are actually people of both sides of the “table”. On tv it was a dynamic scene that was much bigger than the pictures show. This kind of assumes that there aren’t athletes that are represented by what are deemed to be “woke” elements.
  4. Even if it was structurally feasible, it’s not possible because there a multiple antennas on the top of the tower. Putting a structure up there would be too disruptive.
  5. The women’s qualifying start list is out. No surprises for the US. Simone, Suni and Jordan going for the all around, Jade on floor and vault, and Hezly on beam and bars. They really overhyped him during/after nationals.
  6. They were fine with him being an abuser as long as he didn’t abuse them, a.k.a. I never thought the leopards would eat MY face. There is now a second lawsuit by the arena security guard who attempted to help the men being beaten. Chris Brown facing second lawsuit stemming from backstage fight at Fort Worth concert
  7. It’s said several times going back to ANH where Owen says there will be hell to pay. There have also been mentions of gods and goddesses like when C-3P0 was worshipped as “some sort of god” and the Mortis Gods.
  8. The singer best know for a song called Wishful Drinking has a drinking problem?
  9. One of the articles I read included a quote from an industry person that producer credits are handed out like tic-tacs. A few years back my brother invested to a small production company and now has a handful of executive producer credits even though he had very little involvement with the actual production.
  10. The friend was on the defense’s witness list for HGR’s trial but they didn’t have him testify. So it seems very likely they were somewhat aware. HGR’s lawyer is claiming he didn’t know the bullets weren’t tested until the issue came up in the Baldwin case and says he is going to file for a new trial. It will be interesting how that shakes out and how much her lawyer actually knew.
  11. It wasn’t just one person that hid it. The lead on the case said the decision to use a different case number was based on conversations between her, her supervisors and the special prosecutor. I think it’s more likely that this whole thing was political than bribery. Yep.
  12. The more I read, the worse it gets. She was failed by every significant adult in her life. Here is a quote from the Toronto Star.
  13. Yep. It also funny how the science that shows the substantial decline of brain volume every decade after 40 is also never used to argue for law changes. Some of the people arguing to take away rights of young adults are way more impaired cognitively than the average 20 year old.
  14. Completely misunderstood. Studies show that the prefrontal cortex can continue to undergo physical changes well into the 20’s and even into the 30’s with some people. 25ish is probably a realistic average but that just means that what a person experiences in their teens and early 20’s is likely to physically alter the brain in a way experiences later in life won’t. Using the science to delay adulthood is more about older generations wanting to maintain control than protecting kids, in my opinion. There are studies that have found preteen children with more “mature” brains than 25 year olds. Exactly.
  15. No, that isn’t what I am saying. I was not speaking to the legality of the issue or saying that consent can be revoked retroactively. I am saying that in real world situations consent is often muddled. I am a big believer in the importance of affirmative consent to protect everyone involved. Problematic and predatory behavior is often completely legal but being legal doesn’t prevent societal consequences.
  16. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/master-the-allegations-against-neil-gaiman-episode-1/id1487320403?i=1000660908731 I read the transcript for the episode where the nanny describes what happened. She was a fan of Amanda Palmer (Gaiman’s wife at the time) and they became friendly after meeting on the street. Palmer got her tickets to a show and started asked her to run errands and babysit occasionally. Then she decided to hire her as a nanny who would go between Palmer and Gaiman’s houses with the child. When the bath incident happened the kid was at a play date. The nanny says she did eventually tell Palmer and was told she was the 14th woman to come to Palmer. The podcast also claims (I’m not sure if this came from the nanny or someone else) that Palmer called and warned Gaiman telling him to keep is distance from the nanny. True but in these situations it’s not unusual for that regret to come with the realization that the behavior of the older partner was deeply problematic and possibly predatory. So what was viewed as consensual at the time may not actually be consensual.
  17. Exactly. It’s crazy that he apparently thinks that was a good defense. Although the really disturbing thing is that a large part of his fanbase will see nothing wrong with it. It apparently was an open secret that he slept with many young fans, students and interns.
  18. Another case where his defense just convinces me the women are telling the truth. Dude, you’re a rich and famous man in your 60’s “cuddling” and making out with your 21-year old employee on her first day of work. If you can’t see how that would impact a person’s ability to consent you clearly have no clue about consent.
  19. This. Plus, his helmet is cortosis which is why the Jedi’s lightsabers kept shorting out. They used Kylo Ren’s theme during Qimir’s last scene. That lends some credence to the Knights of Ren speculation.
  20. They might be right about her not being featured heavily but that won’t be why. Next season finished filming last month around the same time the Forsyte Saga began filming.
  21. He is denying it, saying he is going to fight it but also refused to take a BAL test so I’m not particularly inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Particularly with witness reports that he is flat out lying. And now there was a tabloid story painting the cop who stopped him as an overzealous, stickler for the rules who treated Timberlake unfairly. To me, it’s paints a picture of an asshole. But there is zero chance that he is going to be “cancelled” over this.
  22. I’m pretty sure that’s the point. We saw primarily from Osha’s perspective and she believes Mae was responsible. We didn't see anything the Jedi did while everyone was dying making the why still a mystery.
  23. It doesn’t make it make sense but, yes, there was something special about the rope. The Doctor earlier said that it was intelligent rope and the hook is a molecular bond.
  24. I liked it because I like the characters and actors but the story fell flat for me. It helped that I went in knowing what it expect from a RTD finale. At least it was better than The Last of the Time Lords. I was way more interested in whatever is being set up with Mrs. Flood than the actual plot.
  25. That seemed like a stretch to me at first until I looked up the timeline. The article came out as part of the press for St. Elmo’s Fire. It would have immediately been in their faces and AM would have been lumped in with the group even if he was barely mentioned in the article. I was too young to be aware of it at the time but I found the old press clips from the time the most interesting. I find it mind boggling that it got that much attention. Otherwise, I don’t think that this documentary style worked all that well with the subject.
