Of course sexy mayor volunteers as a babysitter. While I enjoy the show and its odd mix of stories, some things are just too easy. Is someone from the Nashville writing crew part of this? The long messaging sequence was a bit confusing - you need to pay close attention and read fast. I really like Joe and that they kinda know each other from way back. I hope he realises that at some point.

This is such a weird amalgation of stories, but charming. There are so many shows that have done the scheming gold digger stories worse, but also shows that do the teenage drama stuff better. The casts gels nicely. The nonchalantly unprotected sex threw me off a bit.

Interior Design Masters - General Discussion

For some reason Charlotte gives me major Cassie vibes. I am not that keen on the shop makeover episodes. Thats a very specialised field and - no offence to the brilliant tradespeople on this show, they have to handle all that fugly MDF in riddiculous timeframes - some stuff does not look hard wearing. The designers, especially this year, really edited back the stock in the shops and I wonder how long until those spaces are stuffed to the rafters again. I am not a dog person, so I can't say much about the pet shop, but I think the combination of wallpapers looked great in the space. I think that wallpaper is more instagrammable than their social media fireplace. The colours in the photography shop were horrible and I find the seating area really unpractical because there was no proper table to put cameras, books or instruments on. The kitchenware shop didn't blow me away either. The register area was alright and the windows looked good. -
Promo: Sorry I got the Episode Numbers for E10 and E11 mixed up - if a mod sees this, could you please edit noth posts, THX theatremouse! 🙂

The Great Canadian Baking Show - General Discussion

I might have to rewatch this episode because I kept getting distracted by work. But OMG I need a slice of Tropézienne toute suite. This, again, was a really good Signature challenge with no need to get all extra with decoration. Sheldon again with using an Asian twist in his brioche. I somewhat expect this type of enriched dough cake to make an appearance on other Bake Offs - either as Signature or Technical. -
Today in Focus, taking its cue from this show, did a really emotional podcast episode with someone who worked as a nurse on the HIV wards in the 80s. I felt the same. Both, Its A Sin and Chernobyl, are the type of shows that keep me up at night.

I like Okapis, they won me a pub quiz many moons ago. I just wish Amon had gone for the real okapi colours, it would have made the blanket and plants pop more. Its such a funny sight when Sal is handling her own body weight in clay. Her fountain was almost as tall as her, but the slug was really underwhelming. I LOVED Henry's concept but was disappointed that the bin didn't look like a bin - missing the ridges etc. I know that was the least of his concerns. Jodi's wolf was impressive if a bittle monotone in colour. -

Nothing sais Interior Design Competiton more than the look on the tradespeople's faces during the opening bit. One of the most entertaining things with those shows is to watch the carpenters' and decorators' expressions when the designers try to explain what they want them to do and the timeframe they want them to do it in. Its also great to see some familiar faces again - some of the carpenters and decorators have popped up in other shows like the Interior Design Challenge. I hate shoddy woodwork, and ping pong doc's arch was really bad. His carpenter tried to warn him. I also can't with painting shelves after they've been mounted on the wall without putting up any tape to protect the newly wallpapered wall. Same with skirting boards. Can I also mention how fugly those rooms were before the designers got started? I'm sure turning a stately home into a hotel is quite a challenge, but sticking those port-a-loos in the corner next to the (sometimes only) window? -
I rewatched those recently. Most of the really good humor in the books (especially the earlier ones) is narrator and footnote based and thus difficult to translate unless the lines are given to a character. Going Postal is allright. I enjoyed that this show dragged A-M out of its dusty Victorian setting. Personally, I'd love a TV show centred on Vetinari and A-M. Start with Vetinari as a student in the Assassin's Guild, the assassination of Lord Winder and the 25th of May uprising (a chance to introduce Vimes!). Graduation, a short stint in Uberwald, Snappcase snuffs it and then move on to the goings on in the city and how Lord Vetinari manages it - with the stories and characters from the novels weaving in and out of it. There is enough background information and snippets on Vetinari in the books to ground the story, but also enough room to be a bit creative.

Based on what popculture has taught me, all it needs to deal with a pissed off dragon is either a chatty donkey or a bad rockband and a cute baby dragon? (If you don't mind killing the beast a pointy family heirloom will do too) Here is the philosophical question: Could the good people of King's Landing have saved themselves if they had managed to aquire a lovely doe-eyed donkey (mini dragons are probably hard to come by) and fuel up the local harpist with some claret? They got Vetinari so wrong. Here's to it NEVER EVER getting a second series.

Starting them off with a guglhupf cake was quite enjoyable. Of course there were some flavour combinations that we see year in, year out on the different Bake Off incarnations, but we also got a couple of interesting new things like the fermented rice and the avocado cake. Perfect signature challenge. Loved the ricepaper flowers and chocolate(?) balloons. Oyaks' mirror glaze cake was stunning - a well deserved star baker. Ruby chocolate in a technical challenge! As for the new hosts: bfffff. I like Alan because he has a calm vibe and pleasant voice. Ann is the complete opposite and I doubt she will grow on me. I felt for Bertie burning the sugar, thats the worst thing you can do to an oven. -

Cracking episode that. Never heard of a chicken brick. Well done Sal, I liked her design best. You can really tell that she knows how to work with the materials - when her pot collapsed on the wheel and she just reached for the blow dryer to save it. She is the one to beat this year. Henry really dodged a bullet. Alon too. They were lucky than Shenyu had more cracks and to simple a design. -
Mayim was on Graham Norton yesterday. Apparently Call Me Kat will air here in the UK (Channel 4 would be my guess) later this year. Good luck with that.

Sandra's 'are you ready to wake up' to Glenn was SO creepy. Sayiid the stud with the blue hotpants. Major LOL.

Yes. Carrot's backstory - as in the book - is dwarf based and Cheery is identified as a dwarf. In last week's episode they visited Cheery's old mine and thats also the episode that portrais Cheery's struggles when 'coming out' and ditching the beard. There are dwarves but they are not of the typical dwarf physique. There're some dwarf jokes in it too. I think the shortest actor, at 5 ft, on the show is Marama Corlett, who plays Angua. With her its proabably to emphasise the angst and shame she feels about turning into a werewolf.

Whats with all those curtains? To get any noise dampening effect they need to be really thick curtains that properly close off the area. The ping pong table was such a cliche. Even if the people in that office wanted to play the occasional match, there wasn't anywhere near enough space either end. It also might in theory be height adjustable, but - and especially with a table that size - unless its pneumatic (this one was manual) nobody will do that. The 'stadium' and swings - also clichee. There were 50cm at best between the wall and the swing - what good'll that do? A 30cm level change with comfy couches might have achieved the same effect. I've been to modern offices where they have all that stuff - swings, ping pong, slides between floors, basketball, foosball, etc. - but they have designated areas, especially for noisy, fun stuff. They have large rooms with high ceilings for theatre style seating, closed off themed offices/meeting rooms and sound proved micro offices (like phone booths with a small table and comfy seating) to take phone or voice calls. While the meeting room table in the Beauty office looked great, plants that size all down the centre are a bit unpractical as they will obstruct the view. I liked all the colour schemes, Paul's wallpaper and the whimsical artpieces. I'm neutral on the mural. Loved that team Beauty incorporated mid-century brown furniture. The room dividers from team Tech worked well and putting one on the diagonal was inspired. I was surprised that Amy got the boot - I thought the ping pong doctor would get the chop. -

She is trans. They still adress and manage to emotionally portray her struggle to be accepted. Personally, I don't mind that deviation because Jo Eaton-Kent gives such a great performance and the personality of the character isn't too far off the book version. The fact that she is pushing 6 ft, and thus about the same height as Carrot, is more annoying.

Its on BBC America and afaik was produced by and for BBC America, which also means its not funded by British taxpayer money.

I listened to the Night Watch audiobook over the weekend just to remind myself of the plot. There must've been a few deaf people in that telephone line-up. If this show is ever aired here on the British BBC the show runners, writers and commissioner will be eaten alive by both, the viewers and the media.

I have no words. How pissed do you have to be to be able to follow that story.
