Its really not a great idea for them to focus a whole story on Kara's secret identity, when Kara being Supergirl is so freaking obvious, that its basically been a running joke among fans since the very first episode. I mean, its like someone took the "Shes got glass, and a ponytail!" joke from Not Another Teen Movie, and made a whole dramatic story about it! "Gee, who could Supergirl be? She obviously cant be the sister of the agent that is clearly hiding Supergirls identity who is ALSO a tall skinny blond haired blue eyes model who happens to have all the same friends and allys as Supergirl and looks exactly like her except with glasses and has only been seen together that one time! Thats just madness!" It would really be hilarious if, even after the mindwipe, Alex knows who she is instantly, because obviously she knows her own sister! Just having her contacts in and her hair down wont change how she looks!

I picked up a recent Supergirl comic - in that universe Kara does wear a brunette wig with a different hairstyle.  That could almost work for me - women can change their hair coloring and style and look like entirely different people sometimes.

She now can't properly remember 90% of her scenes of the show and its ethically kinda of a terrible thing to do her even if she wants it.

Much as I liked this episode, it still had too much of an "Identity Crisis" (a DC comics mini-series) feel to it.  J'onn I feel should have struggled much more about mind-wiping Haley, plus he, Alex, Kara and especially Brainy should all be smart enough to see all the ways this might possibly go wrong.

There was a noticeable jump in ratings, but if this is what he gives us, I wouldn't be surprised if people switch the channel after Grey's Anatomy next week.

I was a fan of New Girl on Fox.  One year they ran an episode (featuring Prince) immediately after the Super Bowl.  That episode racked up 25 million viewers.  The following week 24.5 million of those folks where nowhere to be found.  So yeah, I think you're on to something there.

Yeah I wasn't sure what that was about.  Was her intent to antagonize?  Elicit sympathy?  Really weird.  Seriously detracted from that killer dress and hourglass figure.

  5. Well now we know how Ryan meets his end.  He'll try to kill Carly and in will rush St. Jasus of Borg to save the day.  Make book on it.  They had to figure out a way to work Carly's one tru luv into this story line.

I too enjoyed Kristina today.  She was the only adult sitting at a table that included Alexis Davis.  Maybe that cult actually is helping her.

My prediction is that Ryan will get caught when he attempts to kill Laura. Laura’s new BFF Carly will walk in and interrupt things, then Jason will swoop in and save them both, killing Ryan in the process.

The way JL has been playing this, it does seem like the thought of killing Laura crosses his mind frequently.  Not sure why she annoys him so much.  Kinda wish Luke was still around, his presence might temper Ryan's murderous impulses in that regard.  Speaking of old-timers, departed vets sure got a lot of shout-outs this week, with a Sean Donnelly reference (sad to hear about the dementia) and mentions of Gail Baldwin.  I always liked both characters, Sean was an old-school, suave, swash-buckling anti-hero back in the day, going up again Cesar Faison and the Cassadines, etc.  And there was always something so sophisticated, elegant, and mature about Gail.  GH as it stands now desperately needs those kinds of characters.

I did not like the return of Amy's infatuation/obsession about the supposed perfection of Penny.  What am I missing?  Penny's a nice looking person, but nothing that warrants that amount of gushing IMO.  Is Kaley Cuoco supposed to be a raving beauty?  I just don't see it.

Nah, you're not missing anything.  As I posted before, Penny sometimes looks like an animated character.  Cute enough and pretty easy to draw, lol.  Oddly enough there have been much prettier women on BBT.  The other day the show where Sheldon was Raj's wing-man came on and they scored (!) at a party.  The brunette actress in that episode who was not Danica McKellar was so geeky hot it was almost insane.

  8. 22 minutes ago, SmithW6079 said:

And speaking of babies, it annoyed me all over again that Penny unilaterally decided they wouldn't have a family.

Remember, in this universe Penny is the hottest hottie that ever hotted.  Leonard is so lucky to have her.  Based on that, she gets to call the shots.  Seriously though, I've been watching a lot of the old episodes lately.  In the final analysis, Penny, while not unattractive, is probably just slightly above average in looks.  (Yes, mileage does vary)  That makes Lenny's ongoing insecurity about her all the more ridiculous.

It took me quite some time to warm up to John Ingle's Edward Quartermaine, but I eventually grew fond of his take on the character.  David Lewis will now and forever be my favorite, OG Edward Quartermaine, and poor Jed Allen was so mis-cast in the role (never understood how the producers of Dallas missed casting him back in the day).  All three actors really did capture Edward's love for Lila.  And I always appreciated DL's and JI's grudging respect and semi-admiration for Luke "that scheming reprobate."  Good times, for reals.

This was the first complete episode of SNL I've seen in quite a while.  I was very surprised at the overall quality, even the weaker sketches were alright.  This one had a late 80s, early 90s feel to it, when it was still consistently good from week to week.

What is with TV doctors just telling anyone that one of their patients is pregnant? I mean, unless it's patently obvious, how about protecting your patient's privacy?

Right?! I wrote a comment last night but didn't post it. It listed two of my pet peeves: TV drivers who spend more time looking at their passenger than at the road, and TV doctors who casually disregard HIPAA because some random stranger says they know the random patient the doctor just spent five minutes with.

The whole "driver looking at passenger" thing on TV drives me absolutely bonkers.  Damn near every show does it, by all rights there should be hundreds of auto fatalities on the tube.  I'm a great driver with almost 40 years experience behind the wheel and its all I can do to drive and hold a conversation at the same time.

Yeah, I don't get it either.  When you're 20-odd years out of college life, jobs, spouses, and kids take over.  Time with your circle of friends has to be planned and coordinated.  Seems like these folks get together every. other. damn. day.  based on the condensed timeline.  Totally unrealistic.

I agree that Maggie and Gary were annoying in that scene. Letting someone with only one item go in front of is nice but expecting it is just obnoxious. That is part of the reason that I hate them together. Gary was also obnoxious when he  when he insisted on singing karaoke at the noodle place. I am getting really tired of Gary’s bad behavior being rewarded.

I hate it when people ask if they can cut. It puts people on the spot and makes the asker seem like they think they are more important, that their lifes and their wants should come first. Wait your turn dude, you ain't all that. I've had people lean out their car window while cutting me off and say "hey I'm in hurry" - well aren't we all? What makes you so special?

Gary thinks everyone should behave and feel a certain way and when they deviate from his ideals he acts like a hurt, spoiled child.

Even worse was playing the Cancer card.  IRL most Cancer patients/survivors wouldn't want that kind of sympathy.  Even though Gary is kind of popular on this thread, his sense of entitlement is really starting to grate.  Also, of all the adults on this show, only Rome/Regina (and oddly enough Katherine) aren't above one asshole-ish act per episode.

Based on what I've been reading, MM continues to use the following excuses for her baseless opinions bad behavior/claims/anger:

    1. "My father died and....."             2.  "But what about..."     3. "When Obama/Hilary..."    4.  "As a Republican..."

As for the first - We have all lost a parent who we loved and sometimes it's been sudden/unexpected and sometimes we know it will come and sometimes we are aware but still not quite prepared.  She had a year of knowledge that her father was going to die.  I lost my mother and we knew it would arrive sooner than we would like and slowly prepared emotionally.  We leaned on each other and talked a lot about her (my mother had Alzheimer's) as we gathered with her.   When she finally took her last breath (I was blessed to be holding her with my sister when it happened), I truly felt at peace and in a weird way a sense of happiness for her.  I do talk about her or mention her at least once a day but not in a poor me I lost my mother, but in just conversation.  And I still cry but it's a momentary sadness because I believe that she is happy where she is.  As someone upthread said, we can't fight death, death needs to be accepted because that is a part of life.

For the second - Yes, what about the orange guy continually changing his past, his justifications, his lack of civility and respect towards others, his greed, his just awful demeanor.  And how can she defend him after what she said at her father's funeral?

For the third - You (MM) continually remind us to "get over it, you (I'm assuming Democrats) lost", yet continually bring them up.  Why?

And finally - How about "As a human being..." Or "Looking at everything that has been said, I think..."

(Sorry,  I hope I didn't go to off-topic.  It's just that she does makes me so mad.)

Sorry for your loss. Yes, it's difficult, but it doesn't mean you get free rein to be an asshole. We both dealt with it, and moved on.

A couple of days ago the discussion turned to how people associated with Trump run the risk of losing the public's respect.  Then I thought about the View.  Despite her quirks, I always respected Barbara Walters as a ground-breaking journalist.  The View factored into that perception.  Then the show hired Sherri.  And Elizabeth.  And now NutMeg.  I really can't "see" BW the same way now.  Those hires say things about her - and the showrunners' - collective judgment that I'd rather ignore, but can't.

On another note, if NutMeg gets any bigger, she's going to explode.  (I can say that as a hefty guy myself).  She reminds me of Totie Fields sitting at the end of that table, looking like a barrel.

It was the Clean Air Act Amendment of 1990. When Joy complimented the late President Bush and said Tr*mp is trying to undo everything Bush 41 and Obama did and added that were she to become a single-issue voter, it would be on the environment (this is a paraphrase).

Miss Piggy's Less Attractive sister then whined, "Can we focus on the President (i.e. HW Bush) please. I don't want to talk about Trump." There was some cross talk, but Meghan didn't let that interrupt her interruption, even though some of the crosstalk was Whoopi. She went on to blather something like, "If we're honoring a great president."

Joy tried to reclaim the floor and said, "Excuse me" a couple of times, and started again. "I want to talk the different..."

Meghan continued her interruption: "But I'm not interested in your one-issue voter [something] when the president just passed..."

Joy's voice then rose. "I don't care what you're interested in. I'm talking."

Then Meghan dialed up her shriek setting. "Well, I don't care what you're interested in, either." She sounded like a fucking fourth grader (my apologies to well-mannered fourth graders).

Then Whoopi cut to break. That's as far as I've gotten.

What a fucking joke she is. ABC News should be ashamed of itself for hiring this petty, no-talent hack, with the personality of the perpetually hungover.

The next time NutMeg does this, Joy's only response should be "Little Girl, you've got one more G-D time to tell me what I can and can't say out of my mouth."  Being from basically the same generation, I'm sure Whoopi will fully understand the cultural relevance.

The next time Megan has one of those outbursts, I'd like to see her chair empty after they return from commercial because the showrunners have given her a time out.  Embarrassing her in that fashion may be the only was to extinguish this behavior.  She may even quit the next day.

Reading all the passion here has inspired me to send a link of this thread to ABC, if that's ok.

ETA: Even better - if anyone knew how to get this thread to Joy and Sunny I think it would be great.  They both seem to take their jobs seriously and would probably be very interested in hearing how a representative sampling of the audience perceives their product.
