What is up with Delilah? Is she supposed to be the ultimate honey trap and no man can resist her? I loathe her and the actress is mediocre at best.

Yeah, I don't get it either.  I'm not that shallow, and have taken a hard look at Delilah over the last couple of episodes.  This may be intentional given what the character has gone through, but she always looks haggard and her hair is a perpetual mess - and I normally don't notice women's hair.  In comparison to Regina and Ashley, there isn't one attractive thing I see about Delilah, yet half the show's male characters want her, including Gary though he's loathe to admit it.

I absolutely agree. I told my daughter it was as if they had fired all their writers and hired new ones. It did not flow at all for either one of us.

In a rare moment of optimism, I'm going with the thought that maybe this is the show that Nash wanted us to see all along.  It just took a very long time to get there.

I laughed at dish-washing Eddie pouting that Gary got to wait on tables.

And Rome trying to stall and distract with, “Rules, rules. I love rules. I only used rulers, no measuring tape.”

    Rome and Gina are wonderful.

One of the few times (maybe the first) that I actually liked Eddie.  Rome and Gina are magic, and besides Theo the most engaging, realistic characters on the show.

Re: Eddie and the Real Estate (?) lady - is that what 30-somethings do now, starting making out almost immediately after meeting?  If so, I'd like to turn the calendar back a couple of decades.

If Delilah was in charge of the business side of things, her entire MO is "someone will take care of this for me," which of course is exactly what happened.  There is no accountability with Delilah, only a poor me tactic of getting everyone to do everything for her.

That is probably why they are in such a hurry to get her to take off her wedding ring and find a boyfriend. They're too busy to take care of everything for her, so they're trying to out-source the job.

So much this. Delilah is probably the most dependent character to ever appear on television.  She's not even going to be able to parent her own kids without the gang's help.  And...as soon as her friends are successful in out-sourcing the gig, poor Gas Station Guy is going to have to expand the department.

Regina nailed the whole confession scene in the bedroom, like give this girl an Emmy nailed it.

It's no coincidence that the show's strongest episode featured its best actor.  The big problem that I had with this S/L was Gina's vague inferrence that she invited the molestation.  Didn't she say that she voluntarily took off her shirt?  Even if that was true, the Uncle was still a perv for taking advantage of her.

This show seems to be comfortable openly acknowledging that they don't care about writing, they just want to move their plot points forward and to hell with writing.

And it's such a fucking shame.  The premise was so solid.  It could have been an iteration of "this is us" that dealt with depression and the aftermath of suicide in a real, compelling way.  Demonstrating how survivors cope and get on with their lives.  Seems like the concept was all the writers had; there's not enough creative bandwidth to make it work.  Sad.

And don't fool yourself into thinking that alcohol is not as unhealthy as smoking. As a health care provider, I can assure you that dying from liver failure is every bit as excruciating as dying from COPD or lung cancer.

My Dad died of alcoholic cirrhosis of the Liver when I was 23, so I can attest to that.  Watching him waste away from a jaunty, robust man into a skeleton is something I'll never forget.

Can we also have Aiden suddenly take an interest in Cher or Judy Garland?

Thank you!  As a heterosexual male, I love Cher, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand and Patti LaBelle (have seen three out of those four in concert).  All the so-called icons for gay males.  And me likey women.  A lot.  It's really time for that real-life trope to go away.

Whenever I get too critical of a final season I remind myself of the disaster that was How I Met Your Mother.

Yeah that was rough.  The last 2-3 seasons of HIMYM basically ruined what should have been an all-time, top ten sitcom.  I read where most of that cast wanted to come back for one more season and CBS nixed the idea.  BBT has been running on fumes for the last two years also, occasionally cranking out a good episode.

Agreed.  For me, I hope this not only opens up a conversation about mental health I general, but also mental health in the black community.  As a culture we are still so closed off from that conversation and mental health doesn’t have the same level of importance as physical health.

As a Black man, it's always amazing to me how some family members believe they can "pray the depression away."  While I do believe in the power of prayer, it's not always that simple.  Sometimes clinical interventions are needed.  Neil was never one of my favorite characters, but I always liked KSJ.  I hope he finally found peace.

Heck, her statement that she didn't know any of the people in the photo album because "that was before I met him" makes no sense.  Did he NEVER talk about his college years?

On topic of that, dismissing the photo album that way made absolutely no sense - it may have held some type of clue as to why Jon did what he did.

The actress who plays Ashley, Christina Ochoa, is gorgeous.

Yes she is gorgeous, in a way that kind of sneaks up on you.  It wasn't until I saw her boarding the plan that i realized, "Damn, she's a knockout."  Up till then I'd been distracted by all the faux shadiness, which we now know was much to do about nothing.

I like Andy the cop on his own, but I am beyond tired of the story line (or, you know, entire premise of a show) in which a stereo-typically attractive woman gets with a man who doesn't at all meet his gender's hallmarks of desirability.  Until we start seeing the reverse, I'm pretty well done with the cliché.  And I never love playing damsel in distress to attract a man.

I hear what you're saying. :-)  But the good thing is, when given the choice between remaining alone and having the company of a nice guy that's not "model perfect," Jill went for the latter option.  And being a much shorter version of Will Sasso myself...well...it gives guys like me hope, you know?

Funniest episode in quite some time, I really enjoyed it.  Poor Christie, she's just a bundle of neurosis, isn't she?  I'm really pulling for the character, but she just doesn't seem to be getting any better.  Even worse, Bonnie and everyone else in her circle (other than the Sponsor) seem oblivious to that.

I say it again, Katherine is a damn saint. her and Eddie getting divorced is probably the best thing for everyone in the long term.

Remember how Katherine was vilified by almost every character at the beginning?  Well, we now know that was because she's better than the lot of them (with the exceptions of Regina, Rome and Theo) combined.  And squared.

I guess I find Jon's character more interesting because he was involved in so many things and helped Gary and his friends and his wife seemed to just do whatever, she stayed home, but didn't clean, probably didn't do laundry, not sure what she did all day but not knowing about their finances just makes her kind of clueless.

Even with that, it seems like Jon was so busy fixing everyone else's lives that his family was being neglected along the way.  I'm sure that's a big part of his whole "I'm not the man everyone thinks I am mantra."  Even his daughter is kind of seeing it now.  It's a lot easier solving other people's problems than cleaning up your own messes.

I've really enjoyed the recent episodes. There's always gonna be a few plotholes. It's about a flying person who nobody can recognize with glasses on, for christsake! But if the stories and acting are pretty good, I can chuckle at the flaws and enjoy the stuff that the writers did a good job on.

Seems like the creative team is really trying, but it's really hard for them.  The last few episodes (outside of the annual cross-over) have been a bit better.  On another note, Kara really needs a Mentor.  With everything going on with her secret ID, she turns around and tells another person?  Really bad judgment.  It's so funny that Kara was sent here to take care of her younger cousin because Clark seems to be so much more mature and together than she is.

Russian Supergirl seems to be having issues.  Who are they calling for help, now?!

Just a guess given how this show has been written, but I'd have to say

    Spoiler

It will be Jon Cryer's debut as Lex Luthor.

After 15 years on this show, still running cons, wearing leather and now this stupidity.

Pathetic. I don't think there is a worse character than her on the show currently.

Shame Ryan is such an lazy, uninspired mass murderer.  The folks most in need of killing don't even cross his radar.

Gee, I wonder, who is Supergirl. Could it be that blond chick that looks like her, hangs out sometimes at the DEO and is Alex sister? Wow, what a doozie. At least Reign wore a mask and had a voice change. What's everyone's excuse for being stupid as a log?

Here's another obvious problem no one has commented on - both Kara and Supergirl are stunningly beautiful blonds (sorry if that sounds a bit sexist).  Both men and women are going to pay close attention to their facial features and would easily see the similarities.

I am WAY over mindwiping. I have to say this season was a disappointment to me. The plot wasn't as good, & now mindwipe again. Not at all happy.

Couple of things.  One: No more dumping on Chidi.  Two: any more mind wiping will kill my intense love for this show.  Possibly forever.

Brainy is still growing on me. I mean, the hair is somewhat copied from Cisco, and I'm convinced his vocal patterns are partially based off Barack Obama (dragging out the first syllable of a sentence), but he's an oddly lovable doofus.

The Barack Obama comparison is really insightful.  BO really does have a way of drawing out the first syllable of every sentence - plus adding an abrupt vocal inflection at the end as a form of punctuation.  I did find Jesse Rath's delivery a bit more stilted and clipped than in the past though.

And still didn't take much convincing for her to let Alex go through with it despite the decades of memory erased/altered and possible permanent negative effects. The more I think about it the more Kara comes across as cowardly for letting her go through with it. And its pretty terrible of J'onn who has been previously unwilling to do far less violating things to far worse people because he opposed going into people's  minds. The show is probably going to gloss over the serious moral implications and/or Kara and J'onn's culpability for the consequences.

Does anyone else remember the first mind-wipe J'onn did of a baddie (or morally ambiguous character) about two seasons ago?  IIRC correctly, J'onn accidentally erased more of the guy's memories than he had to.  I guess the implication is that he's become much more skilled at it, but it's still possible that mistakes could be made.

I assume Haley isn't going to waste time in interrogating every single agent forever and that the interrogations will likely only last a week, at most. Once Haley interrogates everyone and finds out they don't know anything, why would she bother interrogating them again if this creature is that powerful and can't be tricked?

Thing is, it's been played like Kara's Secret ID is an open secret at the DEO.  I can't believe only five people there know about it.  Also, remember how when J'onn found out Kara and Mon-El were dating and he sent them to HR to complete paperwork?  That being the case, wouldn't Pam from HR know Kara's secret and wouldn't there also be corresponding documentation?  So many plot holes here.

Alex will likely have permanent effects of the mind-wipe anyway, since she has decades of memories to be altered or wiped completely. So I do get the point about the mind-wipe needing to be permanent. Alex's mind is going to be altered significantly so there has to be consequences to that.

That would be a nice twist to all the mind-wiping that goes on in the Super-hero universe.  Both J'onn (here) and Batman (in Identity Crisis) were correct in saying that the mind-wipes, particularly when done without the subject's knowledge or permission, are a violation of sorts.  I do find it interesting that despite Kara's usual high-moral-ground stance that she too seemed to have no objections whatsoever to Haley being mind-wiped.  Ultimately, they are going to have to find a more effective and lasting way of dealing with SG's secret ID.

Its really not a great idea for them to focus a whole story on Kara's secret identity, when Kara being Supergirl is so freaking obvious, that its basically been a running joke among fans since the very first episode. I mean, its like someone took the "Shes got glass, and a ponytail!" joke from Not Another Teen Movie, and made a whole dramatic story about it! "Gee, who could Supergirl be? She obviously cant be the sister of the agent that is clearly hiding Supergirls identity who is ALSO a tall skinny blond haired blue eyes model who happens to have all the same friends and allys as Supergirl and looks exactly like her except with glasses and has only been seen together that one time! Thats just madness!" It would really be hilarious if, even after the mindwipe, Alex knows who she is instantly, because obviously she knows her own sister! Just having her contacts in and her hair down wont change how she looks!

I picked up a recent Supergirl comic - in that universe Kara does wear a brunette wig with a different hairstyle.  That could almost work for me - women can change their hair coloring and style and look like entirely different people sometimes.
