  1. Gosh darn it - GH! I'm liking you again. There's a late 80s and early 90s feeling now, especially with the organic cast integration. Had Dante and Finn ever shared a scene before? Even with Dante's many hospitalizations?

Even the behavior of un-likable characters is more realistic now. The teasing banter among the Carlys and Dumbledore seemed like a real family dynamic.

Dear John, you fuck that beast and we are THROUGH.

Such conflict here. Although Carly Sr. is a succubus, LW is a stunningly beautiful woman - who could blame Jagger?  And they were clearly feeling each other today. Was so worried we'd get Jasus and She-Beast Part III.

Re: Ava - hard to say what her real game is but damn - unlike a few here, I feel like those bangs have done wonders for her, dramatically softening her face and flattering its unique contours.

And don't shoot me, but I loved the talk about Luke and how he changed that building to the Blues Club. Great times those years; wonderful production values.

As one of the few Lucas Lorenzo Spencer fans on this site, it feels good to me. I will never get over that his character appears to be really, truly dead. In an off-screen, totally pointless death that didn't advance any particular narrative. However, IRL, even Luke detractors wouldn't want to see him as a feeble geriatric walking with a cane.

Re: Cyrus - JK has been knocking it out of the park recently. Clearly the new showrunners have decided to make his conversion totally authentic - and his chat with Laura today was some of the most mature, realistic dialogue this show has seen in ages. There was a moment there when he was discussing the failed radio show where he gave off a real John Malkovich vibe.

/small voice:  I'm enjoying Nina and Drew and their hate sex.

Ok - I'm going to be the one to say it. Drew to Nina: "45 minutes of hate sex on my office floor." Really dude?  With those pecs and abs???

Guess the character is not old enough to remember the song "60 Minute Man." It was a hit for Billy Ward & Dominoes in 1953, check it out on YT.

    Well, at least Drew tried.

Why not? Since she’s now showing contempt for law enforcement, what with her attitude toward Jagger last week. And then praising Drew for not punching Jagger.

Because then we'd be subjected to more Brick and nobody wants that.

    Except for Stephen A. Smith.

NuNuJordan absolutely cannot act under any circumstances so I wouldn't wish her on CM even at his worst, and I've seen his worst more than once. The idea of Drew and Jordan paired together makes me want to seek an airlock to hurl myself out of into the cold, heartless void of deep space, and unfortunately I am living on Earth.

From the second I first saw NuNuJordan, my first thought was, "Well, she's pretty, can't act a lick, but could always be a stunning model." And as cringe-worthy as a potential pairing with Drew is, would we really rather see her with Brick????

As a fan of Hallmark movies, I've got to stand up for Ryan Peavy - he was sub-par on GH, but has actually become a very competent romantic lead on the Hallmark Channel. Check out "A Timeless Christmas," he was very, very good in that.

Re: the Bloated cast - about a third of the cast could be culled and no one would miss them. So many, like Sasha and Cody seem to serve absolutely no purpose at all. Blaze and her Mom don't seem to be destined for a long stay unless the Mom is paired with Sonny, which will probably happen. And why the heck is Lois still hanging around???  As another poster stated, doesn't she have a job? A home of her own? Come to think about it, I haven't seen Ned in ages.

Think it all boils down to this: too many characters, not enough stories, even with the better writing these days.

Good for Tracy deciding to take Terrys advice and get out more. Glad she wants to start riding again, and also looking forward to her budding friendship with Stella. I could watch an entire hour of those two women!

An organic, warm moment portrayed by two vets. Tracy seems to have softened of late, smiles a lot more and a bit of twinkle in her eye. Nice to see. Under the new writing regime, every character except Snarly and Nina has toned it down a bit. Not sure how much more of Hysterical Heather I could have taken. Lots of characters interacting outside of their normal circles in ways that seem adult and mature. Really hope its lasts.

Which is still better than having Marshall and Curtis hunting down some elderly doctor in a retirement home to confront him about a racist that forced Marshall to abandon his family and not seek them out until Curtis was in his 40s.

It was a storyline that wasn't written in a cohesive way from the beginning so the quick wrap-up was fine with me.

As a Black man around Marshall's age, it was triggering and actually made me think about giving up this show for the first time in 42 years. Back in the day, there was a lot for men of color in our age group to be angry about. And a lot of people not understanding or mis-interpeting that anger.

But it is over now, and enough said about that. The good thing is, I'm more team Kevin Collins now than ever before.

In other news, after seemingly trying to turn over a new leaf, it looks like Caroline is back to being Snarly Carly now. It was fun while it lasted.

Not sure I believe Jason was protecting himself. Sonny isn't wrong he's not telling him why.

Alan Jacobs?  Jason's fake name was Alan?  The father he treated like nothing? Initials of AJ The brother he hated.

Is Ava in on it with Valentine? She obviously lied to Sonny about Dante, hid his phone.  She's got a plan.

Great catch on the alias! I have a feeling that's the new writer having some laughs at the expense of the former writing crew.

Yeah, the whole "I was protecting myself" thing rings so false. if nothing else, Original Recipe Jasus was nothing if not "selfless," LOL.

Ava and Valentine? Chef's Kiss. And just like that, Valentine went from the most boring Cassadine ever to one that has my full attention.

Other than the wrap-up to Marshall's mental illness (which, other than Kevin's scholarly analysis was so cringe-worthy I couldn't bring myself to even comment on it), the whole show has been so much better.

It was Marshall who abandoned his family without a word for decades.

They can miss me with all this 'lets track down the doctor and make him explain himself'

Yes, because Heaven forbid that Marshall get a second, third or even fourth opinion.

The Jax version of Carly was the only one I liked, and I think he drew out aspects of her character that we don't really see any more.

True. I remember when Carly generously gave their original wedding date to Luke and Laura ahead of their ill-fated third (?) marriage. It still stands out in my mind because it was so uncharacteristic of Carly and I felt Jasper had something to do with that.

And frankly, as for Laura Wright, she’s never had chemistry with anyone except Ingo.

They were one of GH's most attractive couples, in a "Master Race" kind of way (TM Jill Kendall from Mom).

I had a question re: Lucky and Maxie, but Daisy answered it already, mostly. But it wasn't Kirsten Storms' version of Maxie that got fixes for Lucky, was it?

Ava, wtf Are you thinking? WHY do you want Sonny? After the way he’s treated you over the years, you should want to be far, far away from him!

Because no one on a soap can stay single for very long, except for Cyrus.

I really hope the tears in Anna's eyes listening to John were because she was realizing how deluded she has let herself become about Sonny. ...but then the woman sobs at dog food commercials these days, so who knows!

Anna also sobs uncontrollably at the Bear family in the bathroom tissue ads too.

I recall when SB was young, he didn't want Jason in love scenes. Fast forward a couple decades, he was quoted about working out and a lot and really watching his diet when he saw in the script that he had a love scene coming up.

Also, a lot of us old-timers recall SB's love scene with Kimberly McCullough where his pants were...ah... noticeably tighter in a certain place, if you know what I mean. I actually remember screen captures posted on TwOP back in the day.

Tony expected everyone from his wife to his mistresses to his criminal associates to (in one egregious example) his kid's therapist to be his sounding board about all the problems in his past, present, and future.

Preach. Remember this line (paraphrasing) "I had an awful childhood, there was very little love in the house," as Carmella sat next to him, rolling her eyes. They were at the therapist's office to talk about his suicidal son, not him.

In other news, the sooner Brooke Lynn gets out of that horrible wedding dress the better. As they say, kindly, "It's not for you."

Same. Marshall's story has dragged. He's been in PC for three years, and we're only now getting some sort of resolution? At least he decided he wasn't going to dwell on the inaccurate diagnosis and will live for today. I can't take more moping.

Did anyone else notice that today was kind of a Black History Month shout-out? Multiple Shawn Butler references, Stella's cringe-worthy "You is free" proclamation and Marshall's angry "I don't feel free" retort, it hurt my feelings as a Black man. Hey morons-in-charge, why didn't you just bring back Brian and Claudia while you're at it? And end with clips of Justus and Mary Mae Ward? For Fuck's sake!

Why is Cyrus on the radio instead of a podcast? I’m with Laura though, guy is super creepy and unhinged with his “flock”.

GF's facial reactions to Cyrus are pure Gold. You can tell she's not sure how to feel about her half-brother.  And poor Kevin is stuck with the BIL from Hell (hey, that rhymes!)

Hair patrol: Sonny got a fresh bottle of shoe black off of Amazon overnight.  When will they learn that the total cover-up look is more aging?  Don't be a hair dye don't be.

Particularly when it's backed up with white whiskers whenever MB doesn't have time to shave. He should take a page from silver fox MEK's book. He makes grey look distinguished and sexy.

are we taking odds that the shooter is Jason?

Can't imagine it would be anyone else.  Even this writing crew has to see that having SB slide back into his old role as Sonny's side-kick is nothing anyone wants to see. Plus, it would be the first time Sonny's had a truly worthy adversary instead of a semi-annual, made-to-order Loser (Oh how we miss the Balkan, heh). Plus that would likely mean SB's only back short-term (since Sonny can never truly lose, ala Victor Newman), and we could all rejoice about that.

LH's voice was absolutely shredded when she was talking to Tracey (JE looked like she was seconds from losing it as well)--and all of the vets were extremely emotional in their scenes and it felt less like the characters were mourning and more like the actual actors grieving over their friend they worked with for forty years.

Totally agree. There was real emotion in the room, and it was clear that JZ was well-loved and the feeling was mutual. When JZ appeared in the YT spoof of soaps, her office was decorated with pictures of co-stars she clearly adored, Kin Shriner, Anthony Geary and Sonja Eddy.

When Maxie interacted with her at the church, I thought for sure they were about to introduce Bobbie's long lost daughter. Maybe it was the hair color.

Knowing these writers, that could still be in play. I saw some anvils there, and the Spencers are the only Legacy family more decimated than the Qs. Maybe Angela is Bobbie's unknown other daughter, or perhaps belongs to Patricia Spencer, who died before we even got to know her.

And as much as I think Cyrus is faking his new faith, he wasn't wrong when he told Laura that her "friend" Sonny is no better than the "old" (aka current) Cyrus.

As I mentioned over on the 60th-anniversary thread, the only time we get to see Sonny ("180 pounds of pure muscle" according to Diane) personally beat up someone is with a frail senior citizen who recently recovered from a heart attack and is wearing a hearing aid. In a Church. Wow, our Leading Man, people.

Another thing, no true Mob Kingpin would deliver that kind of beating to a rival and leave him alive to tell the tale. Sonny isn't good enough to lick Tony Soprano's shoes.
