Ha! (*hurriedly powers down secret cyborg typist...)

The "tirelessly" bit is pure rhetorical bullshit meant to rabble-rouse the low effort thinkers. Their show is, at best, insipid. At worst, it propagates intolerance, misogyny, and religious lunacy. It's a fantasy confection with a nest of cockroaches and vipers at its heart, and it needs to go.

Indeed. And if both parties aren't pulling their spiritual weight, then just one of them can pray and pray and pray and pray. And ask others to pray, and weep before the Lord, assiduously study the bible, and fast, and read all the recommended marriage books, and seek pastoral counseling. And pray some more. Because that shit always works..if you're doing it correctly. Of course, continued trouble is a clear indication that you are not doing it well enough, so lather, rinse, repeat. Right Anna? Not that I did it for 18 years myself, mind you!

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
SometimesBites replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
This is one of the most revolting things I've ever seen. It's like the tabloid pics of a goat with two heads, or that poor cyclopian kitten. Some things are so shudderiffic you can hardly look away. God knows what kind of nightmares I'm about to have... OMG, you're killing me. -

So maybe she's hoping Josh will rein in his wandering eye if she doesn't dress like Michelle (although, given his predeliction for his own female family members, who knows?)*trudges off to prayer closet... -
The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

Meanwhile, we're just expected to ignore the fact that Jinger's desire was to live in a large city and be a photographer. Instead, Big Daddy Jim Bob just wedges her into his schlocky car business, one more pair of hands to keep HIS interests afloat. What a selfish pig. -
Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
SometimesBites replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I agree that she's got a lot of psychological obstacles to making a real change in her life--former fundie here, who stayed for almost 18 awful years. And here's the other true thing: Anna currently has as much power in the relationship as she ever will. It won't last long; our Smuggar will work his way back into his role as King Shit. But for the moment, Anna is the wronged Madonna, the Angle of Grace, martyring herself for luuurve. Slim comfort, but enjoy it while you got it, Anna, because it won't last long -
Fixed that for ya.

Poor nutrition is a good bet. I think, too, that they probably have the very bad habit of sleeping in their makeup. The way these girls cake it on, if they don't have a good cleansing routine, their skin will pay the price.

True...if said teens have an income. Of course, the Duggar teens DO--they get in front of cameras for money. -

Ooh. Kindred soul. Netflix has turned me into a complete Anglophile junkie. British drama: where even the commonest of common criminals has more class than the Duggs. -
I come out of the "Jesus Freak" tradition. The Dilly-Dorks remind me of 100s of people I knew back in the day. So this, for fun.

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy

Slaves. -
My theory is that the Dullards have tumbled to the fact that the public is actually scrutinizing their mission-cation. They have to maintain the appearance of being too deeply involved in their ministry to have a current connection to the super-dee-dooper new TV show. They'll keep a low profile in order to build demand, then mark my words: they'll turn it into a heartfelt episode: Jill and Derrick return from 'overseas' because of the danger of contracting zika. Probably pregnant, or will announce shortly thereafter. It's all theater, no substance.

I wouldn't doubt it a bit. Kids want a whole lot of things that parents have to moderate. One of my five had a "shirt" (it was actually a heavy flannel man's pajama top) that he wanted to wear like a jacket everywhere. He adored it. There were places it was acceptable, and others...not so much. I think Michelle and JB simply don't give a shit. They go apoplectic over exposing a kneecap, yet let their young son drag around in public in a broken shoe. They're selfish pinheads. -

Oy, so many thoughts when I saw this. First, yeah...a big boy like Jackson looking at first grade math flashcards. But then I really looked at his face and it kills me. I see a child who is desperately bored, desperately hungry to learn something. And a family so bent on being television stars/god warriors that they are more interested in taking a photo for Facebook than ACTUALLY GIVING HIM AN EDUCATION. He should not be slouched in a doctor's office while someone else in the family has an appointment. He should be at school!! I know a lot of viewers find Jackson irritating, but I always had a soft spot for this kid. He strikes me as one who needs a an extra academic push. Super distractable little boys (and girls, although I've seen it more with little boys) take some special finesse to become successful students, and this picture shows the reality: he's languishing. And on the pure snark side, WTF is up with allowing a kid out in a pair of too-big broken down boots like that? Jesus wept. They're both dressed for cold weather, so you cant tell me that having the sole of that boot completely flapping open is a good thing. God knows how many of his brothers had the boots before he did. The lost girl next to him (Hanny?) looks like her boots are way too big for her, too, but at least they seem to be in one piece. The whole photo just screams NEGLECT to me, because I know the story behind those boots and those flashcards. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are a two-person parenting plague. -
I agree that the sisters Josh molested are survivors. I'm a molestation survivor, too, and I was fortunate that I didn't have my personal life splashed all over the media. But then again, I didn't set up any interviews with Megan Kelly. When Joshgate One broke, THEY went on TV to talk about it, THEY continued to court media engagement, and THEY downplayed the impact of the molestation on their lives. "Phft! I was sleeping! Phft! He said sorry! Phft! He was 14! Why are you people so worked up about it! It's all good now! Nothing to see here! On with the show!" It's pretty awful and ironic when perfect strangers recognize that you've survived something unspeakable, but you can only pooh-pooh the incident yourself. As has been mentioned by others on this forum, they want it both ways. Everything's fine, y'all vs. I'm a survivor. What makes my blood boil with this new publicity push is that this family will happily and readily wear the mantle of "survivor" if it gets them back on television. That's been their hard focus from the start, and I wholeheartedly believe, based on what I've seen since this all blew up late last May, is that they perceive themselves as victims--not of their fucked-in-the-head brother, but of the mean, mean public that wants them OFF TELEVISION. That's a slap in the face to every molestation survivor out there, IMO. My...I may need to switch to decaf. ;) xoxo

They're breaking their silence...their deafening, deafening silence (because Facebook, Instagram, Duggar Studios on YouTube, public speaking engagements, Fox News interviews, People Magazine articles, and TLC television specials DON'T COUNT, Y'ALL.) And they're survivors...because they were almost not on television for a second there. (Whew! Now where are my Uggs? Oh, can you purpose to get 'em from under the baby grand for me? I've got a hankering for a $6 cup of coffee.)

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
SometimesBites replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
The article says Josh is "home," and my brain automatically included "at mommy and daddy's house." I suppose they'll throw the Josh Duggar family back together, but I can totally imagine him back in the boys dorm, under scrutiny of a buddy-brother, until JB hands him back his balls. No, the Arkansas Doughboy will stay under wraps until the newly revised Duggar TV show is firmly underway. They can risk Anna's sanity and sexual/reproductive health; they can risk getting porn site viruses on the home computer; they can risk having John David and Jim Bob shaving Josh's head and having him scrub porta-potties for a month, but ain't no way in HELL they'll risk letting him fuck up the new gravy train. Oh, and TLC? Kiss my ass. -
And hell, who wouldn't? Remember Jack Torrance's "novel" from The Shining? "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy." Jill's gratitude journal: "I'm thankful Derrick doesn't look like Daddy. I'm thankful Derrick doesn't look like Daddy."

She can't get her garbage bill paid in a timely manner, but she'll be glad to sell you a home. -
Hear hear. I don't give shit one how much they weigh. The crux of my beef with the wives (and with Kody) is that I find them disgustingly complacent, disgustingly arrogant, disgustingly duplicitous, and disgustingly entitled. Its the assholes of the world who tweak my judgmental side, whether they come in size 0 or size 36. Disgusting is as disgusting does.

I couldn't agree more. And this one especially reads that way. Dear Viewers: Even our two-faced, backslapping creeper firstborn could stay on the television gravytrain if we all pretend together!
