I agree on the hoverboard, and thought the idea was ridiculous.  I don't know what, exactly, Kristina thought would be great about it.  The dress was way better when the models all came out together, and the model walked in it so you could see the long, flowing train.  I don't have any idea how that could be something someone would buy or wear or what even it was supposed to be...a robe?  A coat?  But it looked cool.

    .........

I'd give my win to Coral because, like Nina, I, too, would buy one of the macrame dresses, and one of the zippered jackets.  I'd actually buy more of the macrame dresses if some were shorter and came in different colors.  They'd be so easy to slip on and wear in the hot, humid summers or on vacation.

I thought the hoverboard was cool.  As to what the model was wearing - I saw a recent photo of Rihanna and her boyfriend, both wearing something very similar to this garment.   Maybe Kristina is on to something.

I liked Carol's clothes a lot more than any of the other collections.

  2. At first I figured they were leaving their backpacks and race packs because they had to take a camera person in the kayak, but that wasn't the case.

And I am very happy that Akbar finally had to do a difficult/scary task, so he could tell what Sherry went through.

I really don't like the whole Cassidy overseeing house construction plot though. That's an excuse for her to still be around. I also don't understand Nicky's qualifications to oversee construction.

Cassidy and Nicky's total qualifications are that they live near the site while Kevin lives across the country.  The contractor can check with them if something needs to be resolved, and theoretically they can make sure that the work is continuing.

For those who loved the closing shots of Kate and Rebecca at the piano, thank Chris Sullivan who directed this episode.  I thought it was lovely.

  4. Sir Willem Dafoe!

For those of you arguing that Emily in Paris is so bad - that's part of the point.  That and a manly man footballer like Peyton Manning would never watch that instead of manly man football.

Every musical guest should find out what Katy Perry's team did to actually get good audio.  First time in years.

  5. I watched most of this last night, but I must have fallen asleep in the middle of the last episodes and woke up during the stabby part at the end.

    Spoiler

How did the kid drag Lisa/Chastity's body out of the house and partially bury her?

This has the same "feature" that I've noticed from a lot of streaming series lately - the episodes get shorter and shorter as you go along.

  6. I thought the best part was in the beginning explaining how Harry's first friend on earth was a dog who taught him everything, cutting to a shot of alien Harry scooting along on his rump through the forest.  But then I'm 13 at heart...

Or the Sheriff throwing out ideas of how Harry could have killed the severed foot person, but all his ideas included additional pairs of arms.  Which of course is how alien Harry killed original Harry.

I guess I never noticed that the Sheriff always wears black and the Deputy always wears brown.  Guess it's choose your own uniform time in the Patience PD.

    Don't kill #42 Harry!

Speaking of, who the hell makes sausage on the rooftops?  That was obviously all staged for TAR for the views.

It was probably staged outside to lower the risk of COVID transmission.  I bet we see a lot more outside activities than in the past.

Whatever the race includes in the future, there needs to be at least one task that pushes Akbar to the breaking point - just so he can find out what it feels like.

It's funny how things change; in my first office job in the mid-90s, unless it was something detailed or that needed a paper trail, it was considered the height of laziness to email someone in the same department rather than just walking to their office/desk.

I remember group mocking of the person who preferred to call someone in the adjacent office, rather than just getting up and poking her head in.

It's good to get up and move around.  It's good to have actual personal connections with the people you work with.   They might give you a cookie.

  9. To me this felt like lesser Fellowes - about even with Belgravia and far below Downton or Gosford Park.  The sets, costumes, and acting are splendid, but most of the characters are 2 dimensional at best, and you can see the plot coming a mile away.  Couldn't Larry Russell be into Peggy rather than Marion, for example?

Regarding LA beating Green Bay, I'm glad for Matthew Stafford. It must have been satisfying to beat Rodgers and the Packers, Detroit's foes for many years. And Detroit probably lost most of the games, too.

The Rams may have beaten Green Bay in the regular season, but the 49ers did it this weekend.

So regarding next weekend's game - the Rams desperately don't want the stadium filled with red jerseys again.  So first they got Ticketmaster to try to limit sales to people with the correct zip codes.  That went down in flames, because it's illegal.  So one of the players wives went on social media and said that she'd buy the tickets if they wanted to sell.  Not to be outdone, Joe Staley and Frank Gore have made the same offer.  Fun times.

I loved the reflective geometric fabric Kristin was wearing in the monologue.  The dress looked like a Christmas tree ornament.

It looked like it was from the '60s, and if it was, it would have been made out of paper.

That sketch with Aidy Bryant and the pool full of cream was truly weird.

And JAJ does the best Trump.  He's the only one whose picked up on the weird way he moves his hands.

Really.  Even though apparently they were no longer a couple?  They would still race together.  That would have been fun to watch unfold.

    Just like Frank and Margarita!

8000 mile is roughly the circumference of the Earth - so yes, breathing would certainly be difficult 8000 miles above sea level. I believe you mean meters. 😉

8000 meters is just below the height of Mt. Everest.  They meant 8000 feet.

Considering that we lost four teams and only two came back, I was surprised this leg wasn't a non-elimination.  How tough to get eliminated, be absent for 19 months, get a second chance, only to make similar mistakes as the last time.  I think Phil was expecting some to say it was unfair that eliminated teams were brought back, but as one said, it allowed the race to continue so it's all good.  I'm sure it didn't hurt that everyone viewed those two teams as terrible and cannon fodder.  I do wonder what would have happened if they invited two past teams who were early boots.  Like from Season 32, the Olympic hurdlers, the bickering sisters Victoria and Michelle, or the father/son Jerry and Frank.  It would have been nice to have given another two teams a second chance.  Because they were early boots, it could have lessened the perceived unfairness.

They already had the visas for everyone on this season.  Presumably they will visit a subset of those countries on this abbreviated race.  To get visas for new people from other seasons during COVID would be a monumental undertaking, and probably not possible.  Plus it turns it into a different race with people who didn't have to do the first three legs leapfrogging into the fourth.

I have always hated hearing other people describe how the racers are being "spoonfed" - if they get to use satnav, you'll hear me yelling about it too.

In the books he is a generic, creepy, marry-all-the-women cult leader. He doesn't make kids into suicide bombers. He isn't a fleshed out character, and never goes to the airport.

    And he's a religious fanatic.

The previous episode (in the apartment) showed that you can make changes to the original material that expand it.  This episode showed that you can also make changes that belittle the original story.

For whatever reason, they didn't show the clip of Aaron complaining about always being "the maid of honor but never the bride." I think he should have been the winner of the housewives challenge. He didn't appear sad to be leaving. I wouldn't be surprised if he just said to heck with it and threw in the towel.

Did he last long enough to make a decoy collection and show at Fashion Week?  A lot of past designers have considered that their primary goal, and winning is a secondary one.

  16. "I'm so tired of hearing people on these shows say they want the same kind of house they grew up in. Grow up already!"

Am I the only American left who grew up in more than one house? Plus my siblings, I guess....

I did go on a work trip once and they put us up at Fort Worden (in the winter) and ended up with familiar feelings since it was base housing!

It also makes more sense, given Nicky and Deja's leaps of faith, and all the moon references. Nicky even specifically mentioned that they were 'walking on the moon' at the same time he and Sally were hooking up.

Oddly enough - the actual moon walk and Woodstock took place at the same time.

I'm with you, Mab.  I love historical fiction but kind of cringe if the characters interact with real historical figures, or even worse, if the story is a fictionalization of a real person's life.  Not to say it can't be great, but it often bothers me if a writer plays fast and loose with words and actions of someone who really lived.  (Books annoy me more than tv shows.)

So not big fans of Young Indiana Jones?  I remember when it came out, the producers suggesting that kids watch it to learn history!
