  1. I found it strange that a woman could write a book about how men manipulate women into being what they want them to be, and then go completely gaga for someone who is a total manipulator.

And kudos to Lila who gets Pietro.  He might not be a barrel of fun but he is very intelligent and would never hurt Lenu unless betrayed.

I've been wondering about the audience.  Where do they get those people?  They look like the audiences on some infomercials--like they're being paid to sit there.  And what's with the empty seats?  Can't find enough people who want to watch?  Although to sit there and watch 3 or 4 matches would make a long day.

There was a guy in the front row in full Sir Simon Majumdar outfit, complete with color coordinated hat.  They were trying not to include him in the shots but sometimes had to include him.  Reminded me of that creepy kid in the Morimoto outfit.

Being from Northern California, they just aren't attracting the real super chefs to compete in this - no Keane, Kinch, Keller, Tyler Florence, Brandon Jew, etc.  Weren't Dominique Crenn and Tracy Desjardin judges this season?

  3. I think they ran the reparations episode between this one and The Old Man and the Tree to make people forget how Socks joined the group.  He is not really part of the Paper Boi entourage, even Van has more reason to be there than he does. All he does is make things worse.

  4. They played it three times during every commercial break on Top Chef last night.  I hate it even more.  Plus it's perky and that song should not be perky.  It's like Faith Hill's upbeat cover of Piece of My Heart.

Regarding Luke's experience-just what makes a restaurant the "best" in the world?  Is it Michelin Stars or some other standard(s) (and yes, this is a sincere question as I really have no idea how one restaurant that be called the best in the world).

    From on-line:

The World's Best 50 Restaurants is a list produced by UK media company William Reed Business Media, which originally appeared in the British magazine Restaurant, based on a poll of international chefs, restaurateurs, gourmands and restaurant critics.

Noma was the #1 for several years.  It has 3 Michelin stars

(My mom can certainly say she has a son who has a friend)

As a mom who has a son who has a friend, I guess I should thank him for validating my existence.

Was I the only one waiting for them to include scarves in the set decoration?  Who has that thing anyway?

  7. I thought the same thing.

Ann Richards was famous for the saying "that dog won't hunt" meaning that something was a non-starter.  If I got her, I'd choose something that you would hunt, like quail or venison, and base the dish around that.  I also assume that the dossier included some of their favorite foods.

  8. Pietro totally read Lila for what she is.  He can be a jerk at times, but he's really astute.

Being old and having worked with computers all my life, those machines are not going to last long in a dusty warehouse!  They need to be in an enclosed room with lots of air conditioning.

I couldn't believe that's the same actor playing Marcello - what happened to his beautiful smile?

Or just put up a Nespresso in the main lounge but with third-party capsules and let them go at it with as much coffee as they want.

If I'm paying multi thousands of dollars for a cruise, I expect to not drink pod coffee that I have to make for myself.

I think that Gary was really tired and just wound himself up so he couldn't stop arguing.  Daisy should have just said, "sure, it'll never happen again."

The thing that's is pure gold about this franchise are Gary's comments, especially about love, and Colin's hysterical reaction to them.  Somebody should make a montage.

And I love Colin's little engineer closet - looks to be about 2x3.

I don't actually agree with him on this, but I do think it's a funny joke.  I knew who he was, I did not know who Ariana Debose was.

That's because she's famous from being in a long ass movie

sorry - I know you answered this multiple times, but I like my joke

  11. Since the whole point of Texas Toast is that it is thick bread, turning it into tiny thin shards was not honoring the spirit of the ingredient.

I also thought Carrie should have been the guest judge.  Fancy Texas Toast!

Happy for Evelyn's win, especially since she knew so many people there.

Eve and Helene, I don't know. Do you guys think that's well written or just overcompensating for something? Or is it Eve playing the game the way she thinks in hindsight she should've played it with Villanelle?

Eve is playing the game the way she remembered Villanelle playing it with her.  But she's doing it really badly.

  14. They did take it down to the last second getting out of the harbor.  I get the feeling we'll be seeing a lot of Captain Jason - much less laid back than Glen, Lee, or Sandy.

Tumi's tablescapes are what Sandy has been dreaming of.

Yeah, but he's already asking others for their opinion in solo competitions so if they wanted to sabotage him they could still lie about their opinion whether they thought he could taste or not.  They don't have to know about it to sabotage him.

But that always goes on, even with the contestants who haven't lost their senses.  People like to get a second opinion while cooking so they have a chance to make a course correction if necessary.

And to those who think the gal with the seafood shell allergy is bullshitting - you can be allergic to different chemicals that are only found in one part of an organism, and there's no chitin in the muscle tissue, for example.
