Again, Diana did her fair share of game playing and cheating. She was hardly an innocent. The sensible thing would have been to hold a private discussion and sort it out rather than put her husband on the spot. Keeping her father in law on side would also have helped her. She wanted it all her own way and she got it.

Sadly yes. I have noticed that Sheridan uses incidents as nothing more than filler at times and ways to allow other plot devices like Beth discovering the baby seat in Jamie's car. I haven't seen a lot of his non Yellowstone related shows but I wish he would cast better. Beth does not look like the type of woman who gets away with behaving like a petulant teenager. She isn't the type of woman that men want to rescue. I would be pretty sure that the woman would have learned quickly who Beth was afterwards though!

She could have played him better. The situation on the boat where they were discussing what to do and where to go etc. That should have been a private discussion. Yes Chuck is a dick but she could have gotten what she wanted if she at least kept it private. She would have done well to keep Prince Philip on side as well. I'm also guessing Diana could test the patience of a Saint so perhaps Chuck just had enough of her at that point?

The writers must think we are stupid. In a highly litigious country like America an attorney can talk someone out of pressing charges just by saying "words are a form of assault so you started it"?! I'm not American but I'm pretty sure the laws of self defence are universal, you can use as much force as required to make yourself safe and stop the assault. Smashing a bottle over someone's head and then causing a bar fight because someone says they want to sleep with your partner is hardly enough to warrant such a response. I am surprised the woman didn't front with a lawyer, she was badly beaten. That said, and I am reading between the lines here, she probably does this kind of thing a lot and could see she was out gunned and her own history would be examined. John is fun to watch as he plays Governor. A little like a more level headed Trump who presses ahead with his own thing and puts the typical politicking aside which is good. That said I am amazed he got elected on an agenda of saving his own ranch but than this show has always been far fetched. I'm starting to sympathize for Jaimie. He is the black sheep of the family and I don't think John Snr really gets that as he still relies on him to support him. It is obvious Jamie will sell out to the highest bidder or even something decent looking in a skirt. I am surprised that he and the honey pot did it in the bathroom. Both high profile people, especially Jamie, a bit amateurish. Beth continues to be boring and Dutton seems to want to be surrounded by friends as per Coyote Ugly being sprung from jail. I wonder if she is going to turn on him, in the age of #metoo it is another amateur act for Dutton to want her to stay with him. I can't imagine it would be all that difficult to understand the mindset of environmental groups. I did like the early bit of the show where again John shows up the stupidity of environmental concerns in regards to solar panels and the brush that would be removed to make room for them.

Ah yes I remember now. I did think it was a big odd. Even if you wanted to make it about a one night only show or gig it still doesn’t really fit the scene. Happens a lot. I saw a news story on troops returning from the Middle East and the ship had Neil Young’s “Keep on Eockin’ in the Free World” blasting. The chorus and some of the lyrics kind of fit but there are other lines where it’s not clear if he being patriotic or critical.

I can’t recall what was the song?

I haven't seen the actress in anything else so not sure if that is just the way she speaks (the slow part). Or is she trying to attempt a Western/Country drawl? I'm not American so I don't know how accurate their accents are for that part of the country. They do at least all sound like they are from the same region which is often over looked in TV shows where actors are part of the same family living in the same region but all speak a different type of regional accent. If she was trying to appear intelligent or insightful it does matter if her comments were accurate. Yes he did go away but that was just because he worked out she's a bitter and twisted woman. Yes, he was slow to work that out but some people learn slowly. The Dutton's do seem cash poor and if they sold the ranch they would have more than enough to set themselves up somewhere else without the need to worry about running a business. I suspect when John Snr does the family will sell up quick smart and do just that. A lot of those types of staff feel a need (or a told to) make small talk with their clients. That said it was a rude comment and stupid thing to say all the same. "Is that why your number is on the men's room wall?" -

That is all fine in terms of the ethics and morality of it. I think for a lot of us Beth is just a boring one trick pony. She comes in throws a tantrum, makes threats, puffs and drinks her way through a scene and then insults just about anyone around her. I think her own dignity took more of a hit than the man's to be honest. I don't recall him confirming any of her assumptions. I know what I am like when people make assumptions about me. I don't confirm or deny and just leave them guessing and unanswered. More often than not they are very wrong anyway. I noticed his voice as well. Costner is also playing a character that is much younger than himself which can be confusing at times. Maybe he had a cold or just a bad day/week? Young Rip was pathetic. In some ways he has changed but I don't understand why he tolerates Beth although he has married up (Financially speaking) which is interesting in a TV show where it is usually the women who marry up from humble beginnings. He showed a deeper side when he that the party was like Nero fiddling while Rome burned. He knows what is coming. Didn't mean to insert a spoiler. Don't know how to get rid of it... I'm guessing we will see more of the horse rustlers and how Jamie crossed the border in coming eps. It will tie in somewhere or be used against the Duttons. It was also a sleight against weak Canadian laws and jails as the rustlers were keen to avoid American prisons. I think even Dutton would know how to play politics and someone on his team would go for a diversity hire to sing the anthem! Beth can't help being a bitch and that singer did nothing to warrant it. Other than the singer just not being a cynical bitch like Beth so I guess that is all it takes to piss Beth off. I'm sure Monica could have called for the Dutton helicopter or truck. Not to mention lived on the Dutton ranch to begin with. Another tough independent woman on this show kicking own goals. Jamie is a sniper. He will stay on the fringes, kow tow to Beth and then strike when he is ready. Why would Beth even have payments on her car? Are the Duttons only wealthy on paper? It seems to be the case but what about Beth herself? Or has the price of booze and cigarettes really taken a hit on her disposable income? I would say Dutton will get Piper out of jail some way or another. Even if it is just day excursions! lol I can see a woman doing that more than a man. In this show it seems we are meant to be believe Beth is hot tamale that men will kill to spend time with. Given the character is meant to be mid 30's they have cast the wrong actress as Kelly looks early 50's and trashy more than a wealthy ranch heiress. But that's just me, I find Beth to be uber dull. -
At least in the way it was depicted on the show, the Bolsheviks seemed to very uneasy about what they were doing. Probably due to that emotional conflict they were clumsy in how they went about it. They were also brutal probably due to the anger and resentment about having to do it. Or perhaps there was genuine hatred for their victims too.

I do wonder about that. Was he really racist or just a straight shooter who was brought up around similar types of men and just had a rough sense of humour? I am sure he was rather official and dignified when the situation called for it. The Queen may have had affairs as well. Despite this program being about her we don't really see much about her private life and I can only assume she did a great job in hiding most of it from public view.

Would you really tell a special forces unit that their buddy has been killed? And the details behind what was a very stupid death? And once doing that would you leave said unit in the field to carry out their mission? I'd like to think they wouldn't do that and if they did they would scrub the mission and bring the unit home. I thought Clay was going to kill himself when he ran off on Stella the previous ep so I am not surprised they killed him off. It's a shame though as Clay had the most promising post SEAL team career. It would have been interesting to at least here about his exploits in politics or intelligence if not see them directly. I wonder if the Vet that started the whole thing will end up coming clean so Clay isn't written up as a would be thief. Jason has long been a drag and I don't understand how tubby Sonny who is also a mess disciplinary wise is even a soldier let alone one attached to an elite unit. I wasn't surprised he died but I was surprised at how he died. Sure he had a gun in his hand but it wasn't pointed at the guard. That said Clay was with someone else and is a big guy. Clay had the most interesting prospects post Seal too. Stella was also nice to look at. I guess that is more or less it now, maybe one or two more eps of her at most. I'm over Ray, he is like a junior version of Jason. Davis is boring, I don't know what she is trying to achieve and I don't watch the show for politics or a military based office drama. I also just don't buy Toni Trucks in the role. I think they should have kept Clay alive, he could have come back at any point. So many options if they just kept him alive. Killing him off right after he gets Stella to open up about her dreams was also very rough. He was probably the best soldier on the team and to lose his leg than get killed while trying to stop the other guy from breaking into the place. Do they want people to stop watching? Because the Jason and Sonny show just doesn't appeal.

I am also going to take a guess and say Camilla was never all that attracted to Charles. At least in the early days. It seemed to be because of Charles' persistence that over time she started to develop feelings for him. If Diana was really the way she was than she comes off as a horny stalker type. She seems to get all giddy over just about anyone.
-
I think Diana had emotional issues and due to that her perception of things were very warped. Maybe because she was an outsider to the Royals or younger and prettier she had the media and people around her little finger. But I don't think the Royals were stupid enough to think that being at logger heads with her was a good thing for anyone. Even last season Philip was telling her how it worked and what it was all about. He even told her she could have her fun but when she was with Charles they had to put on the show. Given the privilege's these people have I really don't think it is such a bad deal. If the Royals want to sign me up, I'm willing to play along and I will keep my mouth shut! The Queen moaning about the QE2 and not wanting to spend her own money to keep it was cringeworthy.
-
As bad as Bashir was I can't believe how naïve Diana and her brother were! It all seemed way too easy and I don't see Bashir as being that intelligent. Was Diana really swooning over the Doctor to her friend while there to support her friend whose relative was in hospital? That seemed very crass to me but then we have seen a lot of crassness from all the Royals.
-
I think Philip was definitely attracted to her emotionally. At least according to the show the Queen seemed simpler and older than Philip who still seemed to have a lot of passion and curiosity about things. He probably had a crush on Penny but a very innocent one. He would have known how inappropriate the whole thing was and I doubt Penny would have wanted anything physical with him anyway. I like that they didn't gloss over how brutal the Bolsheviks were, even if they wanted to kill them they could have done so in a much more humane manner. And why shoot the men and then bayonet the women and children? Also interesting that the Royals of the time could have saved them but due to petty bitchiness they decided not to bother!
-
The actor playing Charles does make Charles look like James Bond. For a total fish out of water it's really not as bad as I thought it would be! That phone call was terrible! When he started talking about tampons oh wow! I'm still amazed they published it, it's not like he was talking about anything threatening National Security.
-
Margaret could have easily left behind her Royal life and had the man of her dreams. She chose not to do that though and spent the rest of her life being miserable. It does get old hearing her complain all the time. *** As far as Charles and Diana go, the Queen made a lot of mistakes by trying to dictate who her sons could and couldn't marry and we saw the disasters that followed. Andrew's first preference was actress Koo Stark but she was a no go due to some of her racy roles. Charles should have been allowed to have Camilla. It would have saved the Royals a lot of mess down the track.
-
I think it was also because it was so obvious he was trying to ingratiate himself to the Royals. No one likes a brown noser. The media etc will play on his race but I don't think the local white merchant would have had any more success or would be seen any differently. As we see Diana's apparent interest for Eastern men seems to be what worked for him via his son Dodi.
-
I think Phillip possibly had some kind of innocent romance going with her, not in a sexual sense but just common interests. Philip seemed very different to the Queen who comes off as more simple. Philip has curiosities about things like the old wagon and enjoys talking about a variety of topics. I think Philip would have made a better Monarch than his wife who is more or less just ticking boxes without a lot of interest. I never believed the innocent Diana thing either and I think she played and was played by the media. She seems very naïve and was easily manipulated. Philip tried to warn her even in the previous season. But she seemed to be one of those people who always think they know better and have it under control.

S05.E01: One Hundred Years is Nothing S05.E02: The Sting of Wisdom

And it's not like the new business woman wasn't exploiting herself and then gets snarky when she is looked at in a way that doesn't agree with her. I find Beth boring enough, I don't need another one doing the same thing. I guess the people of the State hope that Dutton will fight for everyone but I do find it laughable that he has been elected solely on the premise that he wants to save his ranch. Is he the only ranch owner in the whole state? The reaction of their son saying he wants them to try for another one so soon after losing the baby was a bit much. I know he's just a kid but surely he is old enough to know that sex would not be at the forefront of his parents minds right now let alone wanting to make another baby. Those scenes painted Rip out to be a cuck from the start. He wasn't ok with Beth's behaviour and hung in there anyway. Beth might be slutty which would be popular but she isn't all that attractive. I have always found her to be an annoying caricature. The way she dressed at her father's ceremony was over the top. At least the new "Evil" Beth type woman dresses in a more refined and adult manner. -
To me it was an attempt to sound poetic or whimsical. Prairie Barbie is a bit like that, not a good poet as such but has all the pretentious of one.
-
I noticed they use food in the show as a way of bringing the characters together. At work they gather around the lunch table and chat, at home it's on the couch when they are altogether. The couch also allows all the characters to be facing the camera/audience. A dinner table would not really allow that, some would be side on. I think it is also supposed to show them as being very casual and close friends or something.
-
This show is losing me. I don't expect 100% historical accuracy but this show is too much. Besides, I'm still getting over the Woke debacle that was 1883.
-
So boring and unengaging. I still don't care about any of the characters and I fell asleep half way in and woke up at the end for the corny Hippy ending. This show comes across as a weak imitation of the Supernatural series.

Was he just attracted to virtually every woman? The guys on the show bar Sheldon were all desperate horn dogs.
