We get to see the modern day Dutton's in Yellowstone and yes, most of of them are assholes. Especially the daughter. I thought it was very stupid move. He is going to be relying on this man for support, I would want to ensure any disagreements are resolved in the friendliest manner possible! I like when they dump a whole season in one shot too. I like to watch it when ready and usually in a day or two. It works better in terms of enjoyment and continuation. Elliot's character is more interesting than Dutton I agree. I forget about that it is supposed to be about the Dutton's. I would imagine at some point Elliot's character will leave or take a back seat. He does look like Owen Wilson! I also think he looks very shady, one step away from robbing a train lol. It does feel unnecessary and I don't buy the daughter as some kind of horse woman. It seems thrown in to appease the usual suspects. I think Shae had a point. They just walked in and killed a lot of men. That might be the way that town works but those men surely had kin folk who won't care that the men were with the Sherriff. The story about the exiles didn't make any sense they would struggle to even make it back to a town let alone form a gang. I think the idea is that Shae is supposed to be cooler and more calculated, trying to avoid trouble than start it etc. He calculates the risks. Whereas others just go in guns blazing.

I always got the impression with Yellowstone that they didn't think it would last and as such the storylines/violence got more and more ridiculous as the seasons went by. I hope with this show they have learned to think long term as so far it is really good. Would be a shame to ruin it.
  3. I have tried watching Lonesome Dove twice and I couldn't get it into so maybe that's not a bad thing..

A bit of both would be my guess. They seem very unprepared and what is worse is they seem to not even want to accept they are in a completely different country and culture. Wanting to travel with all the furniture we saw in ep 1! How much did they spend to ship all of that over. They are still involved in their own infighting/class/race kind of stuff too like with the Gypsy woman. Not the best time or place for that. I knew it would only be a matter of time before one of the immigrants got a gun, although he thought just by having one that it would protect him.
  5. True although you have to wonder how much longer it will take before one of them picks up a gun and learns. Seems the English speaking one is already thinking along those lines, the Sheriff though wasn't going to trust him with one. If the immigrants had weapons they could have protected the women better when they were left alone.
  6. Poor Claire bringing rocks to a gun fight. I think if I were in her party I would have shot her myself, all things considered they are lucky those men didn't rape and kill the whole wagon train. I think he let her shoot herself because he could see she was more a liability than any help. She put his family at risk. I am surprised the German's haven't armed themselves yet. Or been handed guns.

I liked it. Hopefully they will have a longer vision plan than they do for Yellowstone and they won't make it go off the rails with extreme stories and violence. Will be interesting to see how the German immigrants fare. I find them the most interesting as it is obvious Europe is nothing like where they are now. Although I also question how passive they are surely they also had to defend themselves back home. They must be running from something. I like how there are really no good guys in this so far. No obvious heroes.
  8. I forgot about 2 years passing. I think they will run this show into the ground rather than end it! A shame as it was really good for a while.
  9. Saw it last night and wondered what the point of it all was. It didn't provide any new insights or revelations. It was like a boring telemovie about a woman and her sons and mental illness. The scenes depicting her descent into depression/madness were overly done. I didn't know anything about the film really before watching it but expected more from it. I don't think Stewart did a very good job, she almost comes across as a porn star in the first scene where she walks into the cafe. The way she behaves. The actor playing Charles pulled it off mannerism wise but I think they could have done more to make him look similar to the real Chuck. I feel like there weren't any heroes in this film, everyone comes off looking bad. I think they tried too hard to make the Royals look inhuman and Diana was hardly a pauper off the streets, she would have had some insights to what she was getting involved with.
  10. This show has repeated storylines so many times it has become boring now. We have seen members of the team compromised before and they keep pushing through and other members notice and enable them. It's like these guys don't have anyone above them taking charge. I am pretty sure in reality the whole team would have been benched a while ago. Sonny is playing life by numbers. I saw it when he was at Ray's house and he watching all the happy couples and he thought "Hey, I have a baby now. I need to be like that!" No more thought than that really. Not even considering that his baby was due to a bit of fun rather than being part of an existing relationship. Yep. Doesn't this team have anyone looking over them? Would you really allow the guy with the prem baby to go on a super secret long term mission? And unless I am getting the order of eps mixed up, weren't they just recently in hospital due to getting badly hurt? Wouldn't they get some kind of leave? And Jason has been compromised with injuries so often now. When does someone in charge just say enough is enough? I always thought this show was limited story wise and they just keep repeating themselves.
  11. Yeah seems to be the case. I would have preferred them to finish it earlier. Season 8 was a mess. It was fun even when it was really bad though!
  12. Still watching but wondering why! They seem to be setting up the usual thing they like to do with repeating story lines/character types. The new girl being some kind of horse whisperer. Kind stand that little SJW girl all upset about everything every chance she gets either.
  13. This show confuses me. How old are some of the characters supposed to be?! In the ep guest starring Piper Perabo she makes a comment about Dutton being in his 50's he looks much older. She also makes a comment about his daughter being too old to behave the way she does, something I have also noted. Are these people supposed to be much younger than they look and then the actors who portray them? I also seriously doubt Perabo's character would have slept with Dutton let alone gone back to his ranch. She is a zealot in the end. Was she also supposed to be much younger than she looked? Because it seems like something a more impulsive younger person might do. It was good to see her get put in her place by the counter arguments anyway. Just found this article Beth is supposed to be 36 or so now https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/1397124/Yellowstone-explained-Beth-Dutton-age-Kelly-Reilly-Paramount They picked the wrong actress! @ryebread Avery had enough of the violence and also without Jimmy being there she probably had nothing left to keep her there.
  14. So I am nearly done, up to Season 9 now. It seems they could have finished the show at Season 6 as it felt like an ending and then again at the end of Season 8. Season 9 seems like a mess. They have thrown so many stories in here it is like Soapie overload! Nathan's Rambo like rescue was amusing and again I felt like they could have ended it there but alas two more eps to go! I have to say I don't really care about Clay and his past. I could have done without that as he is not an original character and not even a Scott. The Xavier storyline just seemed another throw in. Mouth getting fat was just stupid. I would have liked to see Lucas and Peyton return, I know Luke did briefly but I would have liked to see him longer. Still two eps to go but I won't hold my breath.
  15. I feel the same about the daughter. She is "Easy" to use the more polite term which would attract a lot of attention but she is a mess and not that attractive. I also keep thinking we are meant to see her as being a lot younger than the actress who plays her. She does not look young at all and that makes her more pathetic than a sexy type of vulnerable. If that is the case than the actress they have chosen is poorly cast. They do seem wealthy but perhaps only on paper. It is all wrapped up in their land and they probably don't have that much actual money. They all seem to work for a living and their jobs involve ensuring their property remains theirs. They could just sell it and never have to work another day in their lives. Chances are future Dutton offspring will do just that.
  16. He has a murky past but I am sure he was addicted to something when he first turned up or just getting off meth. He knew nothing about working on a ranch and I believe that someone could pick it up. But the way he has become this rodeo star winning buckles? I don't think so!
  17. Although I like the show I feel like the creators never thought it would last long and didn't develop a long term story concept. They just seem to keep ramping up the violence and extremes. Like some others have mentioned, I have no interest in the Native story and the characters. They seem flat to me, just non compelling really. They also aren't sympathetic which is good in a way as the show is made up entirely of bad guys. Beth behaves like a 20 year old when she looks like she is in her 40's no idea how old the character is supposed to be. But she is a mess. I am not buying the ex junkie as a rodeo star. I am pretty sure you don't just pick it up that quickly and to that level so soon.
  18. Yeah I thought that too. Now you may still have someone going against her or Peyton but you wouldn't have that kind of insecurity on the Gay/Bi persons part it would be very bold. I think it was more realistic the way they portrayed it. There were other things too, the amount of drinking and sex these kids do. The fights etc. The way Gigi behaves especially as intern is totally over the top and now days with Metoo would be frowned upon. I know it's just a show but Mouth should have told her to settle down. The way the women dress like hookers even at kids parties and funerals is interesting too. Maybe I'm watching the wrong shows but I can't think of anything like this now, especially aimed at a teen audience.
  19. Thanks for the welcome! True about Mouth, he always had an interest in sports announcing and went to college for it as well as having a slower progress than the others. I don't know about him being a hot chick magnet though! Haley, although talented seemed to hit the big time very fast. Peyton is an issue for me. She presents herself as this edgy music lover but in reality she loves some really mundane stuff. She also gets Haley in to produce things. I don't think she really knows much about music itself and is even average when it comes to the business side. I thought it was Brooke's mother who was funding the studio? It was a byproduct of clothes over bros? Here's something else that is weird for me. Why is Haley working as a teacher? They have this huge house and you would think that if things were that tough they would just sell up? No way would a teacher's salary support that mansion. It doesn't add up for me. I think Dan would have assets stashed everywhere, he was keen to get rid of most of his prison money! Skills is realistic. Skills with Deb? Hmmm not so much maybe! On another note, I am enjoying how Non PC the show is, just little things that you don't see anymore in TV shows.
  20. Not just Torres. Every character they have brought in since DiNozzo left has been duller than watching paint dry. They haven't been able to rekindle the spark the original team had or even with Ziva.
  21. I'm just watching this for the first time believe it or not and I am amazed at how every character has an accelerated life. I am up to Season 6 so far. You have Nathan and Haley who got married while still high school, rock star, pro athlete, 5 year old kid and they are still only 22! They are both attempting comebacks to their careers when most people that age are still just working out what they might want to be. Peyton and Brooke run their own businesses. Brooke seems to be insane wealthy. Lucas has written two books! Even minor (and annoying) characters like Mouth are stars. Kind of amazing really but then it is TV. The amount of psycho's this town has had is also rather worrying!
  22. I get that PTSD is a common thing with soldiers as is injuries but there has been a lot of these stories on SEAL of late. It looks like something might be happening to Jason as well and again now too. Aren't some of these guys now too old for that sort of position? And would you really let Ray keep going on missions if you knew something was going on with him? It seems pretty risky to allow that given the stakes. I find myself putting the show on and then not paying attention and not caring that I missed things. I used to like it more, maybe it is just burned out for new story lines.
  23. I've always had trouble believing Hetty is this fearsome Cold Warrior. I find her boring and tiresome. At that level in a field like NCIS there is no way they would just allow the leader to come and go like that. Even at middle management level they would be chained to their desks and phones ready to deal with anything. Also bored with Callum and being adopted. I was about to comment on the other characters when I realized that none of them are particularly interesting or charismatic. Deeks had his moments early on but coupling up has ruined him.
  24. Murray/McGee would work well with the right partner. Someone quirky and a misfit within their field. McGee and Abby always had good scenes as did him and Weatherly. They would just need another investigator, possibly a new "Probie" that is a geek and he gets to guide. The show lost a lot of personality and chemistry when Weatherly and then Abby left. Even Harmon was struggling to carry it with all the bland replacement actors they were bringing in.
  25. I didn't like Katrina Law on Hawaii five 0 but she seems to be acting well here. The team never really recovered after Weatherly left then Paulie so good to see it might improve.
