  1. I am going to have to go back and watch the first few episodes because I am still on clear on how Danny and Lisa met. As it stands now I'm thinking he was Veggie's friend and/or Lisa was friends with Danny's ex. I really like Amy. I know and want Danny and Lisa to be endgame, but Amy is great for Danny. The bark of laughter I let out when Cat Man said his cat was Rebecca DeMornay.
  2. I nearly forgot how wonderfully weird this show could be. Loving it so far.
  3. I didn't need the bathroom scene to drive home that Luke was a bad guy. It was evident by the time he began putting seeds of doubts in Emily's head about the way she dressed or the reason why she was given the job. To me, the film really was a blow to all the Nice Guys - men who think they are allies to women and progressive, but who still can't help themselves from their own sense of entitlement. If he got the promotion he would not have questioned why he got it. He felt he deserved it (even after we find out that he cost the group millions under the previous supervisor). But Emily gets and he is trying to justify why she got it - all of which has nothing to do with her merits. He quickly corrected his uncle (IIRC) at the wedding about how smart Emily is as a way of showing his uncle that she has more going on for her than her looks. But when he doesn't get what he wants he thinks she only got the job because of her looks and her being female. Jealous, petty, undermining (accusing her of sexual harassment).... the non-consensual sex in the bathroom was just one more notch on his Bad Guy belt. Exactly that. She was a cheerleader for him after hearing the rumour that he would get the job; and even still a cheerleader for him when she got it and she was attempted to put in a good word for him. Even when she began to have doubts after the boss illuminated about how Luke wasn't as on the ball as she assumed he was (in regards to him losing that money under his first portfolio manager), she still listened to Luke's ideas and tried to lift him up that corporate ladder.
  4. Absolutely loved the finale and the series as a whole. What a corker. I've seen complaints that it's not as action packed as the John Wick films, but I like that this show gave you room to breath and focused on plot and didn't just have wall-to-wall stunt pieces. The stunts in John Wick 4 were especially unrelenting and mindnumbing by the time it ended, so I love that this gives time to the cadre of characters. Would really love to see a second season.
  5. Love the series. Can't wait for series two even though it will be a long way's off. Was very happy to see Ali Khan in "A Haunting in Venice". I hope he gets more film roles.
  6. I've seen both FLORA & SON and BAD SISTERS. Loved them both. Eve is so charming.
  7. I loved the huge leap Danny did in dealing with his agoraphobia. I was as anxious as he was because I was worried he'd freak out. It feels as if the writers only felt that they would only get one series so it seems that Danny and Lisa's relationship is galloping towards telling each other how they feel. If not, I don't know how they will drag that out should they get a renewal.
  8. Loving it. I've seen complaints that it's not "John Wick-y" enough, but I like the foundational aspects of it. I loved the John Wick films and as great as the action is, wall-to-wall stunts, no matter how astonishing, gets repetitive. I like that this is weightier with character that way when the action comes, it's a refreshing. -Ray McKinnon was a fantastic addition to this episode. -Not that it is likely, but I could envision Miles and Yen getting together. Even if they don't get together romantically, I can see her joining he and his sister. The monologue in the car was fantastic. If you've not seen "The Good Lord Bird" on Showtime, Hubert Point-Du Jour (Miles) is amazing in it. -Best fight scene of the night (IMO) goes to Lou. Cleared everybody on the streets. -I got the sense that Thomas had romantic feelings for Charon.
  9. Still good and still cute, but each episode reveals how slight the premise is. It would strain if not for the cast. I can't wait for a chance to see Lisa and Danny actually in a room together.
  10. Directed by Garth Edwards (Godzilla(2014), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and written by Edwards and Chris Weitz(About a Boy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), THE CREATOR is a tale of a future of which humans are in a civil war with artificial intelligence, with the fate of either sides' chances for victory leaning on an unlikely savior. I'm not big on sci-fi, but what I loved about "Rogue One" is that if felt more interested in the characters and human connection, versus spectacle. This film is the same. The world building is impressive; the vfx is superb, but it's the story - the fight for survival and the knowledge that we are more similar than not, if we just open our hearts to see it. Gorgeous and gripping film. I think this is John David Washington's best work yet, and his co-lead Madeleine Yuna Voyles is impressive.
  11. Another beautiful episode. And as a fan of Ethan Hawke in "The Good Lord Bird", I had zero doubts that he could take this guest role and do so much with it. I love that meeting Rick wasn't used as completion for Elora. Her life was complete already and she let him know that in no uncertain terms. He wasn't the missing piece of a puzzle to bring her wholeness. If she does continue to have a relationship with him and her half-siblings it's not because she's in *need*, it's because she wants to. Also like the fact that Rick didn't play the card as if he didn't have any role in not seeking her out. When she asked him if he was relieved to not have to raise her, he could have kept up his initial denial, but he came clean. He wasn't ready to be a father then; but life has a way of making you step up. Now look at him - his wife is in rehab and he needed to be present for their children.
  12. Cute enough. I'm a fan of both Antonia and Craig's so it's fantastic watching them in a series together.
  13. I really thought these were the final two episodes and felt it would still be perfect without a cincher. Glad there are still two episodes left. Glad Kenny Boy (Uncle KK) received his validation. All this talk about whether Bear is snagging. He and Jackie are definitely snagging or will be.

    U.K. TV

Sky Atlantic's THE LOVERS bowed a few weeks ago. Great romantic comedy starring Johnny Flynn of LOVESICK/SCROTAL RECALL and Roisin Gallagher of THE DRY. Very breezy and funny. The pair have incredible chemistry.
  15. I keep watching Branagh's Hercule Poirot films hoping that they would get better to me and they just don't. I am able to enjoy bits of them - the first one had a great score, the second had great camera work, but the story falls flat. At least with this one the acting blows the other entries out of the canal. It is the loosest adaptation and I think that worked wonders for it because they could essentially create a brand new story and not be hemmed in by the established work. It is definitely a better story than the previous two films but it still doesn't have what it takes to be a great film.
  16. Crowley is still moving too fast for Aziraphale.
  17. Promotion is planned well in advance and likely, as the SAG-AFTRA members have not had a strike since 2000 (and even then that was only for the Commercials Code, not the TV or Theatrical agreement), I'm sure many doubted they would actually strike this time. Rollin Jones was intending to not pause production while the WGA strike, even though that meant he couldn't have any hand in the writing while filming was underway. But once the actors struck, they had to shut down.
  18. The production was shut down. They didn't stop filming because it completed, they stopped filming because SAG-AFTRA members cannot work if the collective bargaining agreement they are working under is the contract in conflict. Which is why Eric Bogosian left Prague and returned to NYC and joined the picket line. It's highly unlikely AMC would release the season in parts. Also, writing is an ongoing process. Things can change on the day, so while they have completed scripts they may likely change things while filming.
  19. EW briefly chats with Sam. https://ew.com/tv/sam-reid-interview-with-the-vampire-season-2-preview-trailer/ S2 teaser
  20. Brief, yet illuminating and delightful interview with Brett Goldstein. https://youtu.be/poQFkoDvZfg
  21. I agree. I am very curious if Leanne Best submitted. She should have because if Sarah and Harriet got a nod for doing nothing memorable this season, Leanne certainly should have got one for her lovely turn in Mom City. Had James Lance not become a series regular I think he would have received another nomination if he submitted Sunflowers.

  23. /Before I get to that, Zava is so clearly modeled on real-life PL (and other leagues) player/ And Jamie is modeled on other players. Roy is modeled after Roy Keane. This is known. /Ted taking WAY too long to move on from his marriage./ Which happens in real life especially when you're not the one who wanted the relationship to end. Why shouldn't the show - which deals in a myriad of real life problems - not tackle that? /Whether Rebecca likes Sam, and whether she is pregnant./ That was wrapped in season two; and the question is whether she can conceive, not whether she is pregnant. /Mean girl vibes with Shandy./ Yes, and Jamie and his lap dogs Isaac and Colin were doing the same thing in S1 and Nate to Colin in S2. But Shandy isn't meant to just be a "mean girl" it's to show that Keeley tried to do what Rebecca did for her (and what Ted did for Nate) ; give someone who people would underestimate a leg up. Unfortunately, Shandy doesn't have the same professionalism as Keeley. /Roy and Keely, or Keely and Jamie, and now maybe Roy and Jamie?/ If only! /Someone being secretly gay, and the show pretending like anyone else cares. Colin may care, but most of the world does not as long as he scores goals./ But people do care in the world and have negative reaction to athletes coming out. It may be getting better but do you honestly think that there aren't closeted athletes in the world? And those who would like to live openly but can't due to fear of reprisal and recrimination from fans? When you have fans who heckle, jeer straight players for poor plays or how fans heckle and hurl racist ephithets at players colour, do you really think an out player wouldn't suffer the same fate? /Favorite Julie Andrews character? Who knows more than Sound of Music and Mary Poppins?/ Musical fans; which since series one, it has been established enough of the characters are (Nate says having someone likely Keeley like you is S'Wonderful, which is from a George Gerswhin song; Dr. Sharon, high on pain meds singing "West Side Story" on Ted's answering machine, Ted using "Oklahoma" as a code word, Sam mentions Les Mis, and on and on and on. /Where has Nate been?/ Working for Rupert. /What has been the impact of Zava beyond some wins?/ The realization that the Greyhounds are enough - that teamwork is enough. Using a lone wolf, hot dog to win shiny trophies shouldn't be the goal for them. /What has Rupert been up to?/ Hoping that Nate brings West Ham some wins. /Where are the new Ted ideas?/ Have you reached the episode "Sunflowers" yet? /How is Trent doing in what is clearly an uncomfortable spot for him after being let go and writing a book (and looking for breaking news)?// What does that even mean? He was looking to end his career, which is why *he* told his boss that he revealed his source to Ted. He was looking for something deeper and for him it is following that team and writing about how Teds leadership is shaping them.
  24. I loved that Cary's journey wasn't because someone cut him down to size, but instead was a personal realization that his values had become warped and he was complete indifferent to the realities of how other people have important things going on in their lives and he is not the center of the universe. That there a really important things to focus on outside of career. All of the scenes with Mackenzie was beautiful. Same with his scene with Curtis. It hurt me to watch but I loved that Curtis stood his ground and didn't try to assuage Cary's feelings. Cary caused great hurt to Curtis and his friends and needed to know that in no uncertain terms. And while Curtis let Cary know it won't be a year until he comes around, I appreciate that he didn't discount months. This wasn't something to easily come back from. Lovely that Cary is now making friends and at a time when he was in the space to accept it. Cary made his whole thing of not being effeminate or like "those gays" and now he potentially has a group he will feel more in sync with, albeit older. Lucas being an Aussie and Cary responding, "That's why he gets so much work." was hilarious. Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, Dacre Montgomery, Murray Bartlett, hell even Max's TITANS had three regualars who were Aussie, not counting the biggies like the Hemsworth Bros, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Toni Colette, Ben Mendelson and Joel Edgerton stay booked and busy. I'm glad that Brooke's journey was what it was. There is more than one way to skin a cat, there is more than one way to do good; and if it's by being the worst to help a client, so be it. I just hope she learned to value Lance more and stay in that space. Lance is a good man. Glad it went out on a high, but would love to have seen the rise of Bad Boy Chase.
  25. No more Brooke, Cary,ChaseDreams, Streeter, Lance, Curtis and more importantly,Lucas Lambert Moy! The cult Max comedy about the inner workings of Hollywood, will conclude June 29 with its season three finale. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the ending comes following multiple staff complaints about creators and showrunners Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider over the course of the production, though several insiders say that there is no causal connection between the complaints and the decision to end with season three. Multiple sources involved with The Other Two confirm Kelly and Schneider were the subject of complaints to human resources over behavior on set and in the writers room. These include allegations that Kelly verbally abused writers and overworked crew and claims that Schneider enabled his behavior. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/the-other-two-canceled-at-max-1235525619/
