I don't get that. Is it an American thing to have the door to your house/apartment able to be open from outside? In Europe we have doors that don't have doorknob from the outside, so you can only open them with a key. This has always bugged me on TV, but I assumed that it is done only for the convenience and that IRL everybody has a normal safe door.

Another thing that similarly bugs me is that people never take their shoes off when they get home and never go wash their hands, but I also assume that it is just because it would pause the story, not that people actually don't do that.

To be fair, her husband just left her and it has been like 2 days, so that is not really enough time to see if she will develop a problem. I don't think they have enough time to show an addict storyline.

Personally I thought she drank too much before, like in season 2 when she was going out with that influencer, or even at her wedding she was drinking since morning. But I wasn't sure if the writers intended to address it or not. Now it seems they intended for us to notice, but since there is so little time left I wonder how it will turn out.

I haven't seen the John Wick movies, but I tend to be far more angry when anyone hurts animals then people. On screen or in real life.

Thanks for clarifying! And may I just say that Wincest is a hilarious name? And I generally hate couple names. But I agree that I would not want any incest couple on TV, unless it is obvious it is meant to be disturbing, like Jaime and Cersei.

Yeah, some shows you just happen to hear about, even if you don't care one bit. It probably helps that I am a big fan of Doctor Who, Sherlock and Good Omens and it seems that fans of these shows tend to cross over a lot.

Pardon my ignorance, as I have never watched Supernatural, but from occasionally hearing/reading from its fans, I was under the impression that the big ship was between one of the brothers and an angel played by Mischa Collins, not between the two brothers. Have I got it wrong this whole time? : D

[S08.E12: Stand Your Ground Laws]

Well, I fail to see how a piece about gun laws could be made funny. The very next episode - Local News was both very funny and informative. Except for the bit about abortion laws which was quite scary, so I would not appreciate if he tried to make fun of that, anymore than of gun laws. With some topics you just have to be serious. And since the last year was especially hard, I don't think it is any surprise that there are more serious topics lately. But there are still some more lighthearted bits inbetween. I think there has a been a good balance, IMO.

I certainly feel that both Sutton and Richard and Kat and Adena were given so much focus because those were popular with viewers. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but with Kat and Adena they seemed to go back and forth too much IMO.

Exactly. And it seems that it's going to bite Jane in the ass because she never checked what Addison sent her about the interview. I can't say I feel sorry for Jane.

I have to say, as soon as they said they were going to an overnight retreat, I thought that is just a story device so that Jane and Scott can hook up. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't go there, but then was dissapointed when Sutton and Kat supported her in her feelings. That was a time to be a friend and tell her the hard truth.

Speaking of hard truths, has the show ever addressed Sutton's drinking problem? I thought about it a lot, especially since she flipped on her mother when she found she was drinking again... and then went on a drinking spree herself, which continued for the whole episode. I don't know if there is enough time to address it properly, but they shouldn't just leave it as a big drunk elephant in the room.

JR sometimes crossed from hate to love to hate for me, but Jock stayed firmly in the hate zone. Plus, he was responsible for JR, so that is like a bonus.

It's sort of like while I hate both Roose and Ramsey Bolton, I find Roose worse, because he was responsible for Ramsey's existence and character. (Yes, I know that adult people are responsible for their own actions, I never said that the hate is completely rational : D)

As I was looking through one of the other threads, I saw Dallas being mentioned, so I was reminded how much I despised Jock Ewing there. There were many terrible characters who did terrible things, but he gets the top prize from me. Horrible, stuck-up, arrogant SOB. I was relieved when he died, but of course the other characters had to continue trying to get his approval even beyond that.

My most hated moment was when John Ross was born and Jock matter-of-factly decided how he was going to be named and nobody even thought about contradicting him. Well, STFU! No one gets any say in how a child is named except their parents, specifically the mother. I so wanted Sue Ellen to throw in his face that the child is probably not his grandson anyway, since that was what she assumed at the time.

And don't even get me started on how he and J.R.* kidnapped Lucy from her mother as a baby!

* and I'm giving the saint Miss Ellie blame for this as well. The others were heartless SOBs, but since her whole thing was how she cared for her family, she should have been empathetic to Val. But she probably assumed that a poor teenager's feelings were not comparable to her own.

And speaking of taking children from their mothers of lower social status, Mr. Bryant from Downton Abbey and Squire Hamley from Wives and Daughters can f*ck themselves as well.

Thank's for the info. I don't read any of the tie-in material, but it's cool that there will be a story with 13th Doctor and Missy. I wonder if we could get them together on TV at some point.

I really hope so. I might be becoming paranoid, with all the revelations about my favorite shows lately (Buffy, now Doctor Who). But I had this feeling for some time that not everything was right there. But it is just a feeling, I don't have anything to back it up. Even in the trailer, it seemed to me, as if they were forcing themselves to have a good time.

I guess I might watch it after all, if only to see if I have the same opinion from the full thing.

I really liked Friends when it aired and I still like it. I will happily watch an episode occasionally and still laugh at it. I cannot summon any energy to care about the reunion special however, it just seems so forced to me. The actors were adamant about not doing any sort of revival over the years and I can't help but feel that none of them want to be there. I just hope I'm wrong and that they all wanted to do this and were not pressured to it.

I second all the Downton Abbey votes. The 1910's and 1920's are in my opinion the most interesting time period for comparing how the fashion reflects all other aspects of life and changes in society.

Adding a new series: Riverdale is ... not a great show to put it mildly (I could only watch the first season), but the outfits of their female characters are something else. I especially like Veronica's wardrobe:

To be fair to her regarding that, she was fed the narrative her whole life about how the Baratheons and Lannisters unjustly killed her family and how there are common people who still pray for her family's return. It's not like she had access to Westeros social media to check that nope, common people just want to be left the f*ck alone, whoever sits on the throne.
