Holiday Gingerbread Showdown - General Discussion
40Love replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Holiday Gingerbread Showdown
Didn't like either one of these ladies... but I agree Reva was worse. The gingerbread lady was full of herself... but, it seemed like Reva couldn't stand not being in the spotlight. The assistant as always been a background player. It's not a 50-50 partnership. Pour the damn isomalt and shut the hell up. Her voice and bragging got on my last nerve. Very immature on her part. -
Right... I always laugh when husband and kids say they're so happy to see mom and that she looks great with her new nose, boobs or ass. Really dad... really kids?! You haven't seen your wife and mom since she came out of recovery?? Hehe!

I wondered the same thing. He can't really sing or dance. I looked up Olli on the internet and he's made several videos about his journey to look like the K-Pop singer. Perhaps he makes a boatload of cash from that..

Best Baker In America - General Discussion

This right here! I agree NEEDCHOCOLATE. It's like not even he interested in his little sayings anymore. Must be in his contract that he has to say at least one per segment. But, he's totally struggling to come up with anything. Notice how he blows through them lately and doesn't even wait for someone to giggle. IMO he's over it too. -

I don't mind the "jokes" so much. But I do hate the cheesy staged set-up at the beginning of the show to explain the technical challenge. That set up works fine on the holiday cooking shoes because those shows are basically game shows with all the twists and everything. I like Scott, but kind of preferred the more studious, reserved original host of the show. I think he gave the competition a little more weight as a serious cooking show... like the GBBS. This show is getting cheesier and cheesier with every episode. Makes me think we're just one season away from them throwing in twists for the second challenge. -

That's understandable... IMO Kym and Jackee look very much alike, right down to their body types and comedic delivery. -
Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

I don't think that would've made her look any better. An experienced baker shouldn't have needed so many tries on the tuilles. When she decided to do them she even said it was because it used to be her job and she could make them in her sleep. And then...she couldn't. Plus I don't think the judges thought she did so little and was just sitting around running down the clock. When they say she should've done more in the time, what they mean is "if it took you that long to do just this, you're not at the level we expect here". Yep to all this... but in the past Lorraine gives contestants a "scrunchy" face when they try to explain what happened. The judges see those explanations as "excuses" that they just don't want to hear. I've seen them give someone a break/understanding when they burn or cut themselves. Other times all they get is a shoulder shrug and a "welp"! lol! 😊 -

I don't hate him... but, he's not a favorite. When he says "Honey, well let me tell ya...", I cringe. His personality comes off as so manufactured and disingenuous. Stop it Jason. Go back to being yourself, which was charming once about a time. -

I like him too... and don't think he's annoying at all. In fact, I find him kind of cute... disguise and all. --- (ducks to avoid shoes and pillows thrown at my head.) Heh!😄 -

She seems to make valid critiques... Sometimes one of the other judges disagrees with her... But, I don't remember ever seeing BOTH judges reject her opinion. So she must be tasting enough to give a reasonable response. In can't eat like that, but if it works for her... cool! -

GBBO is a legitimate baking competition/contest... set up to give the bakers the appropriate amount of time to create beautiful and tasty desserts. They even get a heads up and time to practice at home. The only surprise they face is the blind bake and even there, they get a (limited) recipe to follow. It's a fantastic show. SBC , OTOH, is a straight up game show. There will be ridiculous twists, turns and surprises along the way. It's not meant to be elegant and thoughtful. It's a circus with clowns, balloons and wacky music. I haven't watched since the very beginning... but I don't think the show has ever presented itself any other way. The Best Baker in America fills the role of GBBO on this side of the pond. I absolutely love GBBO... but, I also enjoy the goofy circus atmosphere of all the Holiday Baking Championship shows. It's just brain candy for me and a nice diversion from all the other real world stuff in my life. Heh! -
Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

Agreed... and it seems like she just kept baking strawberries! When she kept saying "Literally waffles on a stick"... I knew she was a goner. Couldn't she look around and see all the monster desserts the other bakers were making? Yeesh! -
Phew... you had me there for a second! Well played! 😁

That would be hysterical! The closest thing to a hissy fit I ever saw on the GBBS was a handsome, tall bearded ginger who threw out his mess of a dessert and politely walked out the tent in what could maybe possibly be seen as a tiny little snit. He was eliminated in the end, all the while politely nodding his head in agreement. Heh! So polite. Agreed... I feel an overwhelming amount of sympathy toward Duff who's trying his best to be civil and upbeat. Him walking away from the pier deflated was a bummer.... and my heart went out to him after Buddy sent those pics of his cake with the message "Boom". I saw Duff's confidence go from 10 to 1 in an instant. I just wanted to give him a big hug. Hate that Buddy won that round. He's a sore loser and graceless winner! Not sure I can stomach the rest of the show.

S07.E10: Climate Quick Change

I was thinking Dmitry could have had his model carry what looked a strap or clutch purse that transformed into a coat or cape when it was opened up. Coat needed to be a little longer though. -
Kids Baking Championship - General Discussion

Doubt Nyah knows who Shirley Temple is. Maybe that's just her personality, which I find adorable. I have a soft spot for Nyah because she reminds me of one of my young cousins. No affect, just who she is. I get that can be annoying to some folks. But, I think she's a cutie and a sweetheart. Those tears she had for Madison and her elimination seemed sincere to me. I was critical of Jaxson over his treatment of Madison a few episodes back. But, I have no issues of him these last few episodes. He seems like a talented little baker. I think this is Davis' to lose. He's a notch above of the other kids. -
Right?!! How in the hell was that in any way functional? Why were the judges tripping all over themselves to praise a raincoat that I wore in the 2nd grade? Mine just didn't have any markers. LOL! I'm not a fan of AR's either... He really lost me in the first episode when he used his poor recently deceased grandmother as an excuse to stay in the competition. He also lost points with me when he tried to instigate a fight between Michelle and Dimitry, all the while claiming his intentions were pure.... when his sole purpose was to stir shit up. Michelle's design was basically a sheath dress and a big giant circle with a hole for the model to stick her arm through. It was more of a balancing act than an actual design. I preferred all the safe designs to the ones they chose.

Kids Baking Championship - General Discussion

Not a fan of Jaxson after seeing him repeatedly steamroll Madison. He was pretty condescending... and that little grin on his face when he was talking down to her...so irritating. Grrrr! Karthik didn't win any points with his behavior 1either. But he seemed to be playing more to the cameras. Loved Paige and Nyah together!! Great teamwork!! Davis is one wacky dude. His faces are cracking me up. His OTT expressions during the 2nd confessional with Jenna were wild. He may be consuming too much sugar. Heh! But, I think it's genuine; just him marching to a different beat. 😊 -

I don't think we're ever going to get an answers to these questions. Contestants are under strict orders not to reveal anything about the procedures, timing and production of the show. A contestant from the adult Baking Championship show mentioned she wasn't allowed to share that kind of information. -
Seems like the judges were tripping all over themselves to justify keeping Anthony Ryan in the competition. They made it seem like the most innovative design of all time. IMO it was not... average as best. I liked Seth Aaron and the Canadian guy's best. But, the designer from Canada didn't even make the top 3. So what do I know. Heh! If Sonny had thrown in just one layer of blue in that pretty yellow dress... he would still be in the competition and Irina would have been sent home. It's a shame because I was looking forward to seeing other designs from him.

S07.E01: All Stars Goes Global
40Love replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway All Stars
Awww, I liked his old nose. Oh well...Maybe the fillers will settle in as others have said. Still love him. As someone who recently lost a grandparent, I agree wholeheartedly with this. My grandmother was 96 and even though it was expected, we were pretty close. One month later I'm still deeply saddened by the loss. Can't imagine how sad I would have been 3 days afterwards. That said, he probably should have declined the invitation to the show. Or they should have given him the time to properly grieve by sending him home. Even after the save, he should have bowed out gracefully. That outfit was ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. I'm sure Issac would have been over-the-moon to allow him to return to the next iteration of the All-Star show. -
Okay, this!!! I was saying "Please don't touch her face... please don't touch her face. Oh no, he's touching her face. Nooo, he's touching her face again. For goodness sake, stop touching her face Jaime. We all know where your hands have been. Ewww!"

Right?! That was exactly my reaction. And the way it was done... like the two who came out were some kind of badass designers that the others should fear. What did I miss? On another note... It seemed like the designers from the other countries were nicer and more humble than the ones who won the U.S. version. Loved the winning dress... Has Dimitry had a little work done to his face? He looks a little different. -
Coronation Street - General Discussion

I know right?! It's so ridiculous. The writers dropped the ball on this story-line. I know they need a new conflict now that they're not fighting with Rana's mother over their relationship... but Kate's desperate need for a baby before they've even walked down the aisle is just too silly! Mainly because it came out of nowhere... The farce surrounding the marriage proposal was even manufactured drama. Ugh! Just think of the drama when they break up... A) Right in the middle of the insemination procedure B) Right after the insemination procedure C) After one of them is pregnant D) All of the above They'll get back together when one of them is rushed to the hospital during the child birth. Oh the hilarity from that scenario will be just great! Lol! -
LOL! A good one! :-)
