I think that Eric is blinded by attraction to Virginia and trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it is pretty clear that she is an alcoholic. I remember the scene where Erik confronted her about her drinking while sitting at a table in their hotel room that was crowded with Whiskey bottles, 40 ounce beer cans and Gatorade- I honestly felt like I was watching a TV episode of "Intervention". Their honeymoon was in Vegas with alcohol accessible in the hotel lobby or anywhere on the Vegas strip for that matter and yet she still chose to keep full bottles of alcohol in their hotel room- the writing is on the wall and I truly hope she gets help. This show really needs to vet people for alcohol/substance abuse issues and if recognized, direct them towards proper counseling and medical help rather than capitalizing on addiction and value incompatibility in matchmaking to intentionally create drama for "Good TV."

S12.E07: How Do You Know If You're In Love?

I totally agree on separate meals or maybe expanding upon a date's meal to suit my tastes. I could not eat steak and eggs exclusively for every meal every day like Jake, but I do eat various cuts of meat, some eggs, fruit, vegetables and bread daily. I love to cook too and everyday I'm excited to cook myself fun and well balanced meals and I definitely give into my sweet tooth with dessert or candy. Jacob could benefit from varying his protein with elk, buffalo, chicken, ground beef, goat, lamb etc and incorporating more vegetables in his diet. -

I think that Jacob took on a keto steak/egg diet to burn residual fat and increase vascularity and muscle definition in his body building competition days and now it has stuck out of habit. I wrestled in high school 15 years ago and we were encouraged to eat as much protein as possible with minimal or no carbs to make weight during weigh ins and maintain maximum muscle strength for matches. I'm a meat lover so Jacob's diet wouldn't phase me very much, but I could see someone who is into salads and lighter meals not being into the monotony of steak and eggs over and over. -

I hate how Hailey rolls her eyes and makes exaggerated faces at Jacob for his eccentric hobbies. At least Jacob is memorable and unabashedly himself- I don't know anything about Hailey after watching this show for weeks, partly because she seems to be tightly wound, devoid of hobbies and pretty basic in personality and interests. I'd get along perfectly with Jacob, as my hobby is collecting and exercising exclusively to 80's exercise VHS tapes. It is a harmless hobby that brings me a lot of joy, fitness and health. I think that Jacob is better suited for dating apps or meet up events where some of his photos can showcase his hobbies or likeminded ladies at an 80's party can dance with him. -

I always am amused when people like Chris or Hailey seem put off by their partners' looks- if someone at minimum wants mutual attraction, why not date on apps or be set up by friends like everyone else these days? The odds are, they're not going to find the gorgeous/handsome model they pictured in their mind on this show; instead they'll find someone from the hundred or so people who applied who didn't have a criminal record and had enough clearance from work to film for weeks on end. Even if they are cast and do stay married, most "success stories" I have seen from this show seem forced and one sided in attraction and love. -
I'm impressed with Serena for picking up on her doubts and calling it quits- he mistook a toboggan for a tuque AND he likes tantric yoga. To quote the late and great Kenny Rogers: "You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away And know when to run"

S12.E06: Defending Your Wife

Dating profiles are definitely delusional! There are faces photoshopped and filtered until the real face is unrecognizable and very outdated photos that only come to light when meeting in person. Profiles aren't genuine, modest or candid any more: every other profile is a guy posing with an exotic tiger on vacation, doing shirtless poses in a dirty bathroom mirror or wearing sunglasses in a luxury rental car. I once got up the courage and politely asked a date why he looked a lot younger in his profile photos than in person and he said, "I love how I looked in high school"- the guy was 36 years old 😂!! I've taken a break from dating for the past year or so and I don't miss the dating apps at all. -

I once briefly dated a man who overwhelmingly smelled like cardboard even after he showered! Scalp smells would do me in too, good call on that one 😄 -

I'm not a fan of Brianna's baby talk around Vincent- it isn't cute and makes my skin crawl. Hailey was very rude to exclude Jacob in a couples date by lying and saying it was "Girls Night". I sense a tightly wound, coldness to Hailey and inflexibility that comes from being alone for so long. Jacob is great at gently approaching issues and expressing his feelings without being overbearing or demanding and Hailey always goes into this annoying, selective mutism when questioned that makes a connection nearly impossible. I'm looking forward to next week when Jacob puts his foot down- we will get loads of Hailey's frowns and the I'm hoping the stark white walls of their temporary apartment and modern furniture will make Jacob cut his losses from Hailey and go back to his awesome Ron Burgundy 70's bachelor pad. -
I'm sad that he let Abigail go, I was really rooting for her as a fellow hearing impaired girl. I think that she is a very kind hearted, naturally pretty girl and she will definitely find the one some day. I really liked how Piper and Chelsea had powerful runway style walks to the car, it is so much better than putting a fake smile on and trying to absolve the ex from guilt in his decision. I love the term a poster came up with for "the bye bye wagon" 😄 Everybody should have one! I had my own a year or so ago- I was blindsided by a breakup, and as he was doing a dismissive speech in the dark front seat of his car, I secretly ordered an Uber and minutes later said, "Gotta cut you off, Jason from Uber is driving me home!" I slammed that door and walked tall to that ride across the street. The Uber cost $19 that night, but keeping my dignity was priceless.

S12.E05: Last Night Was Magic

I completely agree! Chris has the narcissistic manipulativeness and shiftiness of a Lifetime movie boyfriend/sociopath. I hate how she swooned over his giving her a rose from the table arrangement- might as well have given her Sweet n' Low sugar packets or the moist towelette packets from KFC. I hope that Paige ultimately chooses to leave Chris for her own sake, as God didn't choose him for her, the twisted puppeteers in the MAFS casting department did. -
I feel like every person dating or engaged to a rich person on this show is definitely doing it for the money. I don't sense any deep love and connections from any of these couples despite being together for years- it all seems like surface level fluff. YSL bags and fine dining wouldn't entice me to bone a rich guy two to three times my age. I'll take Coach, Denny's and age appropriate!

I think that Virginia has a drinking problem and will end up roping in Erik to drink with her in order to deflect attention from her needing to drink all day. I noticed how she not only downed that whiskey at the pool like a marathon runner with a Dixie cup of water, but she had a backup cocktail served immediately on a platter with it- huge sign of needing to keep a strong buzz going. I don't think this show vets people as well as they say that they do- I think that they intentionally pair people who are incompatible to create drama and views which if true is really sadistic and wrong. Between the janitor/yoga teacher/principal pathological liar guy last season to the narcissistic/manipulative/dishonest Chris, I'm going to throw in the towel on Married at First Sight after this season is over. -
Piper's carnival date looked like such a blast! My favorite dates I've ever gone on were to a water theme parks or a county fair. I'll take carnival rides and county fair food over a stuffy, expensive dinner date with a guy any day 😊 And he has a great Count Dracula Sesame Street laugh!

S12.E03: Nice to Marry You
Hip-to-be-Square replied to humbleopinion's topic in Married At First Sight
I like Jacob a lot, partly because I'm in my 30's and work out exclusively to 80's VHS tapes and love 70's décor and appliances. He has some nice self deprecating humor, is a meat eater and seems to be smart and laid back. I don't know if Hailey will stay with him, that's my guess this far in. The problem with his choosing a show like this to find love, is that eccentric people with unusual hobbies are harder to pair off in the real world, let alone reality TV. I think Jacob would be more appreciated by a lady in a more personalized dating app like Hinge or Match or at Meet Up events for hobbies. -
In defense of Abigail's voice, I was born partially deaf and took speech therapy until my early teens to speak properly. My voice is similar in speed to Abigail's: it can sound slowed down and falter at times but otherwise pass as normal and nice to hear to most people. I completely understand her vulnerability around men accepting her hearing disability. I've dated men who are very kind and understanding of my partial deafness, but I've also gone on first (and no more) dates with men who yell words angrily if I can't hear them the first time. I commend the Bachelor franchise for casting two disabled women now: Sarah Herron and Abigail. I think that every cast member is required to tell a difficult story to the lead in these shows, so Abigail is just playing the game like everyone else. I definitely understand how her repeatedly mentioning her disability is seen as a ploy for him to like her more, and I wish she could use the limited time she has with him to lighten things up or talk about shared interests as he has already welcomed her and her disability with open arms.

I wish Married at First Sight could cut out all of the boring obligatory family breakfasts and individual interviews and instead go straight to no holds barred all drama and fight episodes. I don't care about successful matches and blossoming love on MAFS- I want running mascara and door slamming! Maybe this is why I watch 90 Day Fiancé 😝. -
Rachel looks like a mix of the models Miranda Kerr and Taylor Hill.
-
I completely agree! She's such a teenybopper and I don't think that she's ready for marriage. The Bachelor needs to start casting women that are his age or even older than him- it would cut down on the cat fights and overall insecurity of the women. She looked like a kid sister with an easy-bake oven recipe and it felt very weird watching him make out with someone who is about a decade younger. Her lip injections weird me out.
-
I've found that in addition to great drama, the show provides some great hair/makeup inspiration for me. I like Serena's bright berry lip and Abigail is great at applying a light pink glossy lip and natural looking bronze contour. Maggy looks great with her curls and dark mascara/ dark cherry lip look. I liked Mary Ann's smokey bronze eye looks. I like how a lot of the girls are in reading glasses and undone hair in scenes where they're waiting around for the date cards- they're all naturally pretty even without the lashes and full makeup faces in the rose ceremony. I do wish that the show would cast more women in their 30's though, especially since the bachelors are usually 30 plus. I'm in my early 30's and single and I wish that my age demographic was represented more on the show.

Sarah had a really pretty Denise Richards look to her, she'll have no trouble getting back into broadcasting.

You know what always strikes me about the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises? When the leads or their dates say, "I have never felt this strongly about anyone until I met you" or "I've never been in love or anything close to THIS in my relationships before". It is kind of a backhanded compliment to elevate their love interest while disparaging an ex. I can just imagine their exes on the couch watching the show and looking confused and angry.

I might be one of few or only people to feel this way, but I think that looks/body wise Victoria is very pretty and actually laughed out loud and found it refreshing when Victoria stated that she wasn't happy about not getting the individual date. Most of these girls put on pageant style smiles and answers feigning happiness for others in this competition, when I bet they all were secretly unhappy that they weren't picked. Although Victoria is coming off as a bitch, it is probably scripted by production and encouraged. This is televised Stockholm Syndrome during a pandemic, there will be more drama between other women in the following weeks, Victoria is just the first person to fit into the villain narrative. Every season has a "villain" to create drama or entertainment in a season that would otherwise be somewhat boring. Frankly, Matt is a nice guy, but he doesn't have enough charisma, whit or depth to carry a season. I'd choose unconventional attractiveness with edgy, dark humor and captivating conversation over a six pack and one size fits all personality any day.
