  1. Aw, I love Ross Matthews, and his podcast is currently one of my favorites. He just talks/thinks really fast and has a lot to say.
  2. I mute my tablet, set my timer for a few minutes, and do something else. :/
  3. These 2.5 minute long commercials in the logo app are brutal.
  4. Ok, the show might have just gone *too* dark for me. They were building up this big Blackwater style battle, then Lexa sucked and it all collapsed. I feel so deflated.
  5. I'm not sure you're reading the article you've linked: And TL;DR: It's not actually that hard to prove that the sufferers can't tell a 'real' electromagnetic field from a fake one, so I have to put this squarely in the 'all in their head' category. I admit this doesn't mean the person experiencing it isn't suffering. It does mean I hope Vince Gilligan doesn't try to go the 'this is a real physical disorder' route, which would be a very anti-science move.
  6. I feel that the show has been pretty clear that Chuck's illness is psychological (see: the doctor's blind test) AND that anxiety over Jimmy is one of the drivers of his symptoms, symbolized by the space blanket. The moment he felt reassured about Jimmy's ethics, he tossed off the space blanket and left to make coffee. And they played it in a similar way in the pilot. I understand the need for some to be defensive of perceived "all in your head" conditions, but I don't think they're going to play this as a real thing, or else they wouldn't have had Dr. Clea do the test.
  7. Right? I have clocked way more hours in this thread and the bitterness thread than actually watching the show.
  8. I think there's a difference in context. The person objecting was talking about something like big accessories/"costume" jewelry. With Ben's critiques, she meant he was *wearing a costume*. I get what she means but I can see how it's a difficult hair to split.
  9. Lady Gaga does the same walk in Paparazzi: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NOE33iH1gMQ/US6yMTG7PsI/AAAAAAAABBc/fA1K-CSwRaY/s1600/Lady-Gaga-Paparazzi-Music-Video-Screencaps-lady-gaga-19388427-2048-1152.png Ugh sorry for ugly url, I'm on a tablet. I'm not making any particular point about offensiveness, although I think the reference was more clearly this video.
  10. I get what you're saying but I thought actors probably signed contracts preventing them from talking smack about the shows. That said, more power to him, because at this point Fox can fuck all the way off.
  11. I also thought it was referencing Lady Gaga's Paparazzi video. I can be (completely unintentionally, hence 'deaf') tone deaf to this kind of thing. For those who found Max's outfit and walk offensive, was it offensive when Lady Gaga wore/did something almost identical? I love Katya. I dislike Pearl pretty hard. People are responding to her because of hotness, I guess, and in or out of drag the conceit that causes is coming through loud and clear. At least Willam had satire. Was sad to see the older queen go early again, but I think one of the judges nailed it about her not dressing for her new smaller size. Enjoying Ginger Minj and Jaydynn.
  12. Thoughts: as others have said, the fact that NB has piped up at all is worrying. In terms of both show fate and how bad things really are. Also, my suspicion is they didn't consider her for commentary on this season because she was hardly in any of it. Which means...what you think it means. KW commentary incoming.
  13. I suppose dude has the cheekbones (and now, the gauntness) to do villain well. He wasn't giving me that in Forbrydelsen, I agree.
  14. He'll always be Troels from Forbrydelsen to me.
  15. The 100 has really amped up the quality in this season, especially for a CW show. Last night's episode gave me chills.
  16. Not to get too far afield, but I don't think Barry/Iris OR Barry/Caitlin particularly have any chemistry. He had better chemistry with Felicity. (But who doesn't, I guess.) They made the Barry/Iris thing a bit squicky with the step-sibling dynamic.
  17. Briefly but: I've only been half-watching this show for a while, and occasionally making fun of it, but last night was firing on all cylinders. The Clarke/Lexa dynamic seemingly came out of nowhere*, but yet at the same time the chemistry was absolutely there and made sense organically because of what they've been through. And I actually got chills during the final battle march. Including Indra's battle cry. On a lesser show it could have been ridiculous. Or with a lesser actress. (*Maybe there has been more buildup or subtext in some of the episodes I've skimmed, or missed. But from my perspective it went from "huh, those two have some pretty remarkable chemistry" to the kiss not long after, and I was 100% fine with it.)
  18. Moved my shippy ramblings from media thread: I was a reluctant hate-shipper of Logan and Veronica on VM. That sucked. Didn't want them together. But they did have such dysfunctional chemistry. Different with Ichabbie. (And as a fanfic writer: I could make this work. I don't doubt hundreds of stories have already.) I do have that reluctance to ship them, because they make the most watchable buddy cop team ever. I just wish they didn't have such smoking hot chemistry. For the record: I didn't hate Katrina due to Ichabbie shipping. I hated her fake red hair and the way she broke the entire story and every character. With the calmness of a little perspective, they might have managed some kind of love triangle, for funsies. Just not with undead StruggleWitch wife and senior citizen baby son in the mix. A possible side-piece for Abbie would have played the triangle role much better, especially if Crane became protective of her honor. EDIT: Haha, I totally wrote the above last night after a sleeping pill kicked it (I have to fly this morning and I can never sleep the night before). Don't internet drunk, kids! (Although I still might write that fic.)
  19. Moving my late-night rambling to the relationship thread.
  20. To go a little more shallow, the color of her hair didn't seem to a) match or even flatter her skintone, b) exist outside of a box of hair dye, and it was like a constant suspension-of-disbelief killer to me. She was so obviously not a redhead. Much better here: http://www.onedgetv.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/1421974924_Katia-Winter-Wallpapers-1.jpg
  21. Apparently I've watched too much "Hustle" (UK) and similar shows because I spotted both scams, and knew how the mechanics of the wallet/watch scam would work as soon as Saul suggested the alternate route and the mark saw the wallet. No fault of the show, really, although I never knew what to expect from Walter White's capers. Overall, though, I want to like this show more than I currently do. I still feel like I'm waiting for it to get started, and I was surprised to see we're somehow already on episode four. Billboard war just isn't that exciting, and I'm beyond ready for Mike Ehrmantraut to get up on out of that tollbooth. Stakes didn't go nearly as high with the Kettlemans as I was expecting. Nacho isn't a compelling villain either. I guess the villain is "drudgery", and watching Saul go through it is tiring.
  22. Regarding Goffman writing this episode--I thought TV writing credits didn't always work that way, meaning there is a team of writers but they may arbitrarily rotate through who gets the writing credit per episode? Grace had Abbie look at her journal and told her the final (empty) pages were hers to write, or words to that effect, with the implication that bigger bads were yet to come. Even without that, I was fine with the episode's structure the way it was. They torpedo'd their successful show in a way few of us have been able to compare to any other epic fail in recent tv memory, they *needed* to do something drastic to right the ship. And they also were writing without knowing if it was a series finale.
  23. I can honestly say it was never about race for me, at least not past the initial episodes where they deftly handled Ichabod's reaction to Abbie without it being a thing. After that it was just "wow, these two have chemistry off the charts!" Then: "no, don't bring back the wife! the story doesn't work with her alive!" Then: "and a son, too? ugh. also that actress sucks and the corset/jeans thing was cheap." Then: "I am so done. I'm going to check out the bitterness thread." And only then did I find out how sketch it had all been. I know that "I'm colorblind!" lately is shorthand for "I don't want to take the time to think about these complicated and painful issues," but I really was just enjoying the show and the cast without doing any quotas in my head until they decided to nuke the whole thing. And I suspect I wasn't the only one, which means their racially diverse cast was working just fine until they decided to "fix" it.
  24. While we're doing shallow for a minute, I go back and forth on Ichabod's hotness, depending on how silly he is being in any given moment, but when he kept turning his head in the selfie video to talk to Abbie, and exposing his neck ... Yeah, I'll be in my bunk.
  25. "Yeah, it was the plan that we would alienate our audience so badly that we'd lose half of it and the other half would be begging us to kill off our erstwhile new lead actress." Okay, Goff. #missionaccomplished
