  1. Yeah they seem to enjoy sparring playfully. I don't know if he's angry. They must have made the calculus that this was a worthwhile move for them and had good confidence that he'd be able to make the career change. She was discontent with changes to her job and he may very well have experienced dissatisfaction as well. But he seemed to enjoy Stockholm old town. I have dim memories of my one and only visit there, the old town is really small and is literally an island or kind of like a peninsula with a thin connection, surrounded by other islands. But outside the old town, there are a lot of modern buildings because a lot of old buildings were demolished in the '60s. So he may appreciate the old town but probably didn't really have to be as close to it as he talked about all the time. Seems like budget and space made the decision.
  2. The Ringer Prestige podcast has some great takes on the episode. First, snipe hunt is a prank, when immigrants were sent off to chase some mythical creature. So this episode explores whether love is real, whether there is something real between Earn and Van. That pillow case which Lottie used to catch a snipe is the oversized tent that Earn bought. Earn talking from his heart shows there is something real, they did catch something in that pillow/tent. (And as they leave together, they leave the tent, as it served its purpose, even though he got one big enough that there could be separate rooms). In the earlier episode this season, he was shown getting therapy. He might not have expressed himself this way if he hasn't been doing work on himself. Remember that was the episode when he went big on a spite prank to ruin the life of the TSA woman and at the end of the episode he said something about how he needed more therapy. So the Earn in that tent is suppose to show growth in the conventional sense, because one thing you can't say is that this show have been conventional very often. In fact, the podcast host argues that they've planted bread crumbs throughout the series of them moving towards this moment, such as their separate adventures in Europe. I didn't quite catch Lottie smiling as they drove off in the end. But she didn't feel close with the three of them initially, wishing her grandparents were there.
  3. Only watched the first half of the reunion. The harsh studio lighting shows their age, despite all the professional hair and makeup. Snookie looks bloated. They're all under 40 right? They really don't talk much about real things. The show is now about going on weekend or week-long trips, a few confrontations here and there. I guess they'll get into the big confrontation in the second half of the reunion. Really the big challenge is how much more they can keep the show going, make it about more than mostly family people going on some fake trips. So there will probably be some more scandal on social media that's ginned up to hype up a new season. Probably find a way to get Ronnie back on, if the producers thought it would generate some drama and help draw in more viewers.
  4. I can’t recall what their relationship has been like in the earlier seasons. Had the vague sense that Earn wanted to reconcile but he was also preoccupied with finding what to do with his life, to become Al’s manager. Plus we just only learned that he had a traumatic experience at Princeton so he probably wasn’t prioritizing Van or Lottie. Van was also doing her own thing, also finding herself. She’s also had some episodes showing what she was up to without Earn. So I didn’t get the sense that she was waiting for Earn. In fact I wonder if this entire episode wasn’t part of some closure as the episodes run out. I’m not sure there was ever some mapping out of Van and Earn from early on, how things would end with them. Could be a bit of fan service. When he made his heartfelt pitch, Van did register being moved by her facial movements. It wasn’t obvious like her also shedding tears like Earn did or joy but her face was doing something. She didn’t say she felt the same, something about Kanye which is suppose to mean it’s romantic in a way that Kanye songs are? Maybe it’s partly about pride. Earn is making these big gestures which involve getting the biggest tent at REI, bigger than they needed and which later he tells Van to leave it as they hurry to get out of the rain. He also rented out the whole campground so nobody else would be around, something which Van doesn’t seem to like, as if she resents Earn flashing his money. She is after all going to be financially dependent on him. She tells him he wants her and Lottie to come along so he won’t be alone out there so Earn has to convince her that he wants her. Then there other snapshots of their relationship like her suggesting that he was driving too fast through tHe woods and that he might be going the wrong way to him pushing back, kind of a typical husband-wife exchange. Then she asks him what is the probability that they will get killed in the woods in front of their 6-year old daughter. Later she cuts their hike short, telling him that they’re not crossing some stream — she was probably right to make that decision. Then she pranks Lottie about the snipe hunt, to keep her busy. Episode is suppose to be a celebration of Lottie’s birthday but Van suspects that Earn wanted to get an answer out of her, so ulterior motives at play. Was her agenda to get swept off her feet, to be won over? Random thing about this episode, it wasn’t in 16:9 aspect ratio. The opening credit sequence was but as soon as The first frame came up there were black bars on the sides. Then as they drove away and the ending credit sequence came up, it reverted to 16:9. So what is Glover the auteur doing with the different aspect ratio? This family is closer or has to be to fit within the smaller frame? They start out in a giant SUV, too big for the three of them. The expensive tent Earn bought was too big for 3 people, especially the family Earn was trying to restitute. They literally had to cuddle up together closely to share the body heat or they might suffer hypothermia. So maybe the narrower frames are for the greater intimacy which these characters are establishing?
  5. It's across the bay from Phuket, I think about the same distance to the Phi Phi islands. It may not be as popular. Not sure if it has an airport. Phuket seems to have more of a party atmosphere with all kinds of bars and clubs. I'm sure Krabi has them as well but maybe not as much?
  6. Did they ever mention NML in those earlier seasons, including when Emily or Luke escaped? Seems like a retcon.
  7. Not a big fan of Sharik but did she break some huge taboo, dare to say that she's over TAR, that she's fed up with it? Is that the cardinal sin for TAR fans, for a racer to even hint that the Race isn't all that? She might have a valid point about how terrible the mega leg was. While I like watching TAR, I'd never travel the way depicted on the show.
  8. Krabi couple said they chose that place because it's the most beautiful but hubby wants to get into Thai kick boxing there. Not a fan of social influencers either but it's a fad and they did have some interesting footage like when she got into an accident while riding a scooter and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. There they found that she was pregnant. Yeah it's a strange impulse to film and share so much of your life but they're not endorsing dodgy cosmetics and personal care products like the big celebrity influencers. As far as I can tell, they only show their travels in different places and if they can find an audience more power to them. They don't say it but it sounds like husband worked the emergency room during covid and that is why they quit and kind of did the travel/influencer thing on their own. As far as their choice, only one choice on budget with the required 2 bedroom and 2 baths so a predictable decision.
  9. That’s the other thing, are Jakk and Laurel suppose to be a couple? She seemed very thirsty for Horacio, impressed because he scaled up the train and ramp fast. Jakk didn’t even make the jump. At the club she was macking on the young guy at that fake club. Not quite a cougar situation but maybe around 10 years age difference?
  10. That was in Corsica and it's in the current season airing now. Corsica is just north of Sardinia. But no doubt Ligurians went to both places. A lot of the place names in Corsica sound Italian, not French.
  11. Out of the hot pan and into the fire. When they supposedly bonded after the birth, they both said "praise be" to each other. Look it's one thing for Serena to say it since she's a true believer and if she's going to rid herself of the Gilead propaganda, it's still early in her de-programming. But why does June still say these Gilead mantras? She seemed pretty secular living in NY. Maybe in those flashbacks, her NY circle probably looked down on all the religious extremists trying to bring about Gilead. June needs some deprogramming herself.
  12. Well some things happened this episode. Serena gave birth, they got out of NML and back to Canada, where June found Luke was returned unharmed. Sure a long flashback about how Gilead values the lives of babies over the lives of mothers. Not surprising, could have been a sharp political statement. June and Serena bickering. June leaving and then coming back, Serena saying "you came back!" Yeah a little dramatic, handcuffing Serena to her hospital bed and taking the child from her. More closeups of June's face as she debated whether to help Serena or bail and as she thought about what happened back in Gilead. More things could have happened but they had to have time for those closeups of her scowling.
  13. How did the second group catch up to the first group? That is where the dancers won the race. The sisters were right behind the brothers and then they were the second pair to the clue at Petra? Thought they said 1.5 hour drive too. Claire talking about how she’s constantly solving puzzles as an AI engineer but the dancers beating her in the puzzle was funny. Yeah the two tasks were very uneven in how much time it took, especially in that heat. In the metal detector task, why were they finding junk but the earlier groups didn’t? Because Linton was looking outside the middle area?
  14. The design of the Daily was great, though it seemed inevitable that the women would have trouble making that rope jump, not to mention scaling that rope ladder quickly. But really, we have no way of knowing who actually won it, with the editing tricks and probably them wanting to play up a certain narrative. For all we know, some teams were given more than one shot at completing it. Not saying that happened but if they edited that way, we would never know. As for Turbo, Nany wanted him to grovel. And people hated him because he was surly around the house? Whatever. Then the elimination, seems like they go back and forth on whether they allow onlookers to help or not. The reasons Bananas cited were BS. What only he is suppose to have alliances? Or if there's a rival alliance, they better be secretive about it? He may have won 7 times but he's been on 21 seasons. What a loser. He probably told B-M that he'd only do this season if CT wasn't going to be on. I feel for Nany's loss but I hope this is the first and last episode where she talks about the passing of her mother. It probably won't be so who knows, maybe it's a redemption arc of her finally winning one.
  15. Sardinia episode places visited. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/stanley-tucci-searching-for-italy-restaurants-season-2/index.html I thought the way they caught the tuna was interesting, also starving the tuna before harvesting it so that they don't taste of any other fish. The one that didn't seem interesting was going with those sheep herders to make the types of cheese, including the one with parasites, that's formally illegal now. The women who baked the bread, interesting how they dressed for that segment. You wouldn't think they'd normally bake in dresses?
  16. Minneapolis to Brisbane. Family of 4, two young sons and a couple. The parents sound like extras from Fargo, the husband especially has that pronounced north Midwest accent. They're moving for his job and she has to give up her career but they want to get away from the cold winters. But the wife and mother also want a beach lifestyle, insisting they be near the water. Jesse James, the cowboy-hat realtor guy, trolls them with house choice 2 because it's one bathroom. In fact he points her at the doors to the bathroom from the master bedroom, goes around the other side to let her know there is only one bathroom. What a dick, but funny. Husband is an accountant and insisting on sticking to the budget as well as not having as bad a commute. In the end they take a place near the water but without a pool over an over-budget "dream home" as the wife calls it which has a pool, is near the water, but furthest away from his office. Wife tried to play the "I gave up a lot to move here" card a bit but she seems happy enough just to have a beach-y lifestyle, kind of.
  17. The financial arrangement was with the producers. They'd have to okay depicting the nude photo shoots on TV, how much of it they would air, getting clearances from the women, etc.
  18. Busting through the roof is the writers trying for visual effect. As many people have noted, there was probably a lot of collateral damage but they may not have anticipated this reaction. They just figured it would look bad ass. While the dragon may have hard and thick skin to break through rocks and mortar or however the floors of that great hall was built, I would think it would be very difficult for Raynys? She didn't have a helmet? Even if she didn't get hit on the head there would be a lot of dust that should bother her. Now if she had the dragon blast a hole through the floor with fire and flew through, that would be more likely. There should have been a lot of dust in that hall making it unpleasant for everyone in there.
  19. Kyle probably got great feedback from some other cast members and producers early on for saying some funny things, especially with guests. So he thought that he was like Culver on BDDU, who titled himself the chief entertainment officer for that boat. He didn't want to clean toilets, he just wanted to chat up the guests and talk a lot of shit.
  20. What would happen in a real charter though? If they're paying so much money, I'd demand rescheduling so they get the full services of the yacht. My guess is, they're not going to alter the shooting production schedule for weather. In fact they can make one of the stories of the episode be about the weather. So the guests on the show will go along because they're probably not paying what they would in a charter. And probably prompted to complain here and there, constantly saying "I hope we get off the dock tomorrow" over and over again. Then the 21-year old is complaining constantly about 7-star service. Like she would know what that is if it wasn't for daddy's money. Well high end service is for high-end people and one thing they don't do is not be courteous or civil in public. Or on camera, though it's doubtful people who are used to spending for luxury services are going to do a reality clown show on Bravo. How does she know what paella is suppose to taste like? BTW, they're not in Spain so you have to make allowances for the fact that the food isn't quite going to be the same. For instance, get a pizza in Spain, won't be quite like it is in Naples or Brooklyn. The crew is suppose to be stressed because they think it will mean a low tip. No I think the producers determine the tip, has nothing to do with what the guests think. Seriously, these people supposedly yacht all the time and do water sports back home. So why would they fly 15-20 hours to Europe to do the same damn thing? Why wouldn't they stay on land and see what Europe is about instead of replicating the lifestyle they have all the time? Oh I know, they're experienced sailors so they will be critical of the crew. Whatever, they've had yacht brokers and yacht crew members before on these shows, it's a recycled plot.
  21. Please, she's not that naive. She was already a mother when Otto told her she and her children could be in danger. What Otto left unsaid was that they would have to kill or be killed. What did she think was going to happen, if there's any dispute about succession, they would defeat her in the succession battle and spare her life? A lot of lives will be lost, as wars, especially medieval wars are fought. The victors of a bloody war is not going to be in a mood for showing leniency to the vanquished. So if she was envisioning that her claim would prevail, it almost certainly means Raynera has to die. Or did she think Raynear was going to accept her claim that Viserys anointed Agon and would meekly surrender?
  22. OK, didn't have scones in the UK nor have those fancy tea things. But the ones in US are excessively dry. I Googled and most of the pages refer to deserts. Some suggestions for savory accompaniments. Got a DOC designation from the UN so it sounds like they're trying to market it and attract more consumer.
  23. Cloaks are like the medieval version of hoodies. IOW, there were poseurs back then too. BTW, did Alicent tell Agon she wanted him to be a "compassionate" ruler or something like that? Or did she only say that he should not be cruel and callous. Nice that she's not as bloodthirsty as Otto but hell just a few years ago, she did cut a bitch, trying to go eye for eye. So now she's lost her blood thirst?
  24. Wasn't it suppose to be transactional? He told her there was a spy network, including Talya. But someone left in it place, to feed disinformation, rather than break it up. So he was offering to get rid of it for her or get rid of the someone keeping it in place? But she had to do something for him ... This isn't the first rodeo for these two. She was already taking off her socks while they talked. Way she was reaching down she could have been pulling off her underwear but it was just her socks and that's all Larys wanted.
