Lana was totally broke - she had to work a few jobs to put food on her table rather than spend time with the love of her life, David. Yet, the iPhone was too expensive a gift for her, and her wealthy fiancee wouldn't give her money (more than her daily wages) to help her out. David's so delusional even he can't listen to himself.

Many Ukranians don't react, or actually frown, when David tells them that he's in love with them. That's typical - David is the only commonality.

Delusional David - he scheduled the trip based on his availability, not worried about Lana. But, he complained during the actual episode that she didn't run to see him. Hockey games, you know.

The producers seemed to have actively managed to keeping the odd looking or least popular from centerstage. Whenever Chuck or Debbie spoke, they were shown in their screens among the group shots, or the producers showed someone else reacting to their comments instead. Larissa didn't get much airtime beyond her segments (or breasts), and Eric-y blocked her from the center of their screen, because he needed to stare into the camera. In the multi-screen shots, Colt & Debbie and Larissa & Eric-y and even Mama Asuelo were relegated to bottom left or top right corners.

During an argument or two In their original season, Kalani complained that Asuelo never paid for diapers or any of Oliver or helped her with any expenses. (Of course, it would have cost a lot more if he shipped diapers from Samoa than if he just electronically transferred money.) She said that did not fulfill a commitment that he made. It also sounds like he lived in staff housing at the resort or at home in Samoa. Also, in a few of Lo's wake-up calls, they discuss that life in the United States is expensive and people can't just live outside, like in Samoa, where they can sell maro (?) or natural vegetation.

One of Kalani's children was tugging at her leg (off-camera) in the opening scene, when she's in the bathroom, getting ready. She asks him to wait or let Mommy finish. He may have wanted to be fed. We know it wasn't Asuelo, because we had to have the anticlimatic, "Will he or won't he show up?" There's one every season, it seems.

This episode may have been the longest time before I yelled, "Shut up, Tim!" I was too busy being annoyed with Loren's bad imitations of accents in her vocal fry.

They're sympathetic toward Angela. They react like Debbie is just a fierce hockey mom. It's all unbelievable. And since they all share all the same reactions, it seems like the producers are telling them how to react. It's also unbelievable that they're so excited every week to watch the episode and that they laugh so hard.

Jenn married wealth (according to Chuck) and she's Chuck's business partner. Libby's just Chuck's employee, which is too lowly for Andrei himself. But Andrei can start his own real estate empire and be at least as successful as the entire family brain trust.
