  1. Finn could have thrown the beacon in the pod and hit the eject button. And his luggage. Where did he get his luggage? And his Poe jacket healed up pretty good. Did they have a separate Batha tank for that? It's nuts that I can accept that there are squid admirals but that shit bothers the hell out of me.
  2. Well in the first film it was Unkar Plutt who was leading her away. But he could have been the middleman.
  3. I didn't see it as Leia consciously using the Force, but more of a survival instinct kicking in. More like it was the Force doing it to Leia rather than her doing it with the Force. I'm also not convinced the Broom Kid is even aware that he was using the Force. It seemed to me on my one viewing that his head was turned. It seemed so nonchalant and casual. Anyone out there who has seen it twice?
  4. I'm pretty sure that that was Rian Johnson's message to the audience concerning the direction and plot. Along with "It's not going to go the way you think" it's an obvious author's message. I saw Mark Hamill on Broadway in The Nerd and when he was touring in Amadeus. I dearly wish he had gotten the film Amadeus but Milos Forman rejected him specifically because he had been Luke Skywalker.
  5. When was she given an order to crash into Finn at high speeds thus risking her life and Finn's life and damaging precious equipment? She was ordered. to peel off and come back. No, but apparently she did because that's EXACTLY what she did. To some extent, yeah. But not presented in such a lame brained obviously contemporary manner. She's lecturing a guy who was taken from his family and raised to be a brainwashed slave but who resisted his programming about how dreadful the world can be. I think he knows. We the audience already know that too. It was ham handed and pandering.
  6. And yet she was willing to let all the remaining members of The Resistance die because of a crush. She had no idea that Luke would show up. That the fox would show them the exit or that Rey and Chewie would make it back to evacuate everyone. Yeah she is a SJW. She's brimming with concern for social issues. Her plot went absolutely no where.
  7. Snoke gloats that he was the one who connected them. Snoke was such a douche. He torments his followers. Palpatine was sooo smooth.
  8. Snoke was controlling their connection. Maybe he put the ideas in their heads. Gave them visions he knew they wanted to see. Kylo sees that Rey's a nobody who can't surpass his Force connection and Rey sees a possibility that turns out not to be true.
  9. . Which means he was willing to do anything to save a loved one. A lesson Rose tried to teach him later in the film when she kept him from saving the Resistance. A totally unnecessary lesson. Her character is so annoying.
  10. Well I don't think Anakin's story is that he's from humble origins. Anakin's story is that he was made by The Force. The Force created him. His talents are such that he will eventually get noticed and/or win his freedom. Which he does. Who are Obi Wan's parents? Or Qui-gon Jinn's parents. Or Palpatine's? No body ever said that all the Jedi were from noble backgrounds. The thing is in Star Wars, the main characters have always been Skywalkers. This has always been the story of the Skywalker family and so it seemed it still might be with Rey in TFA. The fact that she didn't know who either of her parents were seemed a call back to Anakin without a father and Luke as an orphan. So now we have a hero who isn't a Skywalker. But the villain is. Anakin was a villain in more movies than he was a hero.
  11. Paige (who picked these names?) was worth ten of her sister. Rose should be a Resistance recruiter. She lectures.
  12. The little kid with the broom screamed Sorcerer's Apprentice to me. A smidge too Disney for me for them to justify all that time spent on that shaggy dog tale. Ohhh, The Shaggy Dog was another Disney movie and it featured a ring. Lots of charged objects in this one. Especially jewelry. The die, the beacon amulet, Rose's necklace. The ring. A little more care for the light saber please. Did she manage to escape with her light saber? Rose was a bit too Disney theme park happy. And I would have traded Finn's almost sacrifice for Luke surviving. Damn, you Rose, you almost got the last of the Resistance killed because of a crush. She was very millennial SJW-ish. So many traitors and mutineers in this film. And those two nimrods running the galaxy, all they have to do is wait for those two screw everything up. Everyone will be in the Resistance. Holdo watched all those Resistance fighters dying before she pulled her plan out her ass. Could have used some recognizable aliens in the casino scene. They killed Ackbar off screen. Boo. Over all it just wasn't cohesive to me. But it was a Star War movie and I'm a sucker for this stuff. So I had good time. Leia's survival instinct tapping into her force powers sat fine with me. And I love, love, love Hamill in this. For one minute when he was on the Falcon and talking to 2R, he was 20 years old again. Loved Yoda. And I adored that there was so much Han in this film. And the Falcon, that old hunk of junk, coming the rescue again? Be still my teen age heart. Never enough Chewie for me. I want a porg friend.

    Titanic (1997)

I was an obsessed reader of Titanic literature from the time I read "A Night to Remember" when I was ten. So I love this movie, mostly because Cameron showed the sinking in almost real time. And he got 99.9 % of it right. Ahh Rose wasn't in a nightie. She was in her lovely tri-color chiffon party dress, so of course she would have shoes on. This film also has the most dangerous, almost impossible location shoot in the history of film, two and a half miles under the surface of the ocean. AWESOME!!!!! I always figured Rose sold a few of the diamonds off the strand that held the Heart of the Ocean to get herself established, but yeah Cal stuffed some money in those pockets too. Her mother probably got an insurance claim from the White Star Line. Just before the sinking Jack and Rose nod to the Baker who was in real life the last person off the Titanic that night. So drunk he survived in the water for a long time before being pulled into a lifeboat. He said as it went down, he stepped off the ship and never got his head wet. Cameron's films always have strong willed women. His women are survivors. So despite all the "ROSE!!!" "JACK!!!" calling out, I still love this film.
  14. SAG nominations Dinklage Supporting Cast Ensemble
  15. I see it Friday afternoon. So excited.
  16. The only explanation for burning the streets in KL that I can come up with is to burn out the Golden Company men. I mean they have to be heading for KL, at least some of them. I can't see them trekking across the North to get to Winterfell while the WW are heading south. What's their place in all this? I mean they have elephants. Or will they be a non starter like the Martell Greyjoy Tyrell alliance.
  17. Tyrion is a designated survivor.
  18. What spoilers indicate that Dany and her dragons blow up KL? Or Bran and the dragons? I'm confused, when did this information leak?
  19. See I don't get this statement. Why attack KL if Cersie is not there. KL isn't the evil bitch, Cersei is the evil bitch, wouldn't they go after Cersei where ever she goes? She's the problem. I think the whole shebang ends in KL. And I have no doubt that parts of KL burns. I think the Red Keep is probably a goner. Because that is where Cersei is. I don't see her ever fleeing. Unless. As for the wights I don't see them getting much past River Run or even The Twins. That's a hell of a bottle neck at The Twins. I can see the NK and Viserion making it past The Twins while his standing army gets stuck . Then he flies on to KL and Dany and her dragons have to follow. That's the only reason why Cersei would leave KL. So Jason Momoa's stop in Belfast wasn't just a friendly visit. I didn't think so.
  20. If that were the case she would leave by sea. She has a fleet behind her and a champion. Exile in the free cities is more of an option than going back to Casterly Rock. Essos is where the banished flee to in this world. That's been well established. I don't see Cersei fleeing, she will stay to the bitter end.
  21. Well the image from Bran's vision is of a dragon flying over King's Landing. Not burning it. It could be an image of KL after Dany or Jon or Dany and Jon have taken control. It could be a triumphant, protective fly by. I'm sure Qyburn and Cersie are aware that a dragon hit on KL would knock the place out because of the wildfire. That means the citizens can be used as human shields. Cersie won't die in an explosion. No Cersie is going to die up close and personal. Casterly Rock is worthless, pregnable and her army would have to go out on an open field. We've learned and Cersie has learned that that is deadly. Casterly Rock is out of the equation.
  22. Cersei will never leave Kings Landing. Never. Casterley Rock when last we saw it was not in the hands of Lannister forces. Casterly Rock is over. Have they ever mentioned on the show that Winterfell is heated by hot springs? It's detailed in the books but the show seems to treat Winterfell as a freaking drafty chilly domicile. I think the advantage Winterfell has is the unusually large crypt system. A great place to hide out from wights. Except maybe then newly risen ones, like Lyanna. Can you imagine Sansa being chased by a newly risen Lyanna? I've got my fingers crossed for that one.
  23. Glad to see my Viking loves back and doing bad deeds and plotting like mad. Didn't mind JRM at all. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
  24. Gorgeous girl. Sorry to see her go.
  25. In the episode where Rebecca and Josh go to Scarsdale to attend the bar mitzvah, Rebecca explains they are sleeping on the couch because her mother uses the old bedroom to hoard back issues of Marie Claire magazines. You guys are slipping!!!
