  1. My sister had gastric bypass about 8 years ago when she was in her early 20s. She was nearly 400 pounds at the time and her doctor told her if she didn't have the surgery she would likely have a heart attack before she turned 30. She lost over 250 pounds and has kept the weight off for several years and has made it to her 30th birthday healthier than ever. I've also know a couple of other people who had weight loss surgery and did not keep off the weight. It depends on what you put into it. My sister isn't on a dry leaf diet like Kate appears to be, she'll eat almost anything except a handful of foods that make her sick due to the surgery, but she's very strict about portion control and exercise. Her stomach being smaller probably makes sticking to correct portions a little easier but it's still a lot of work. I think gastric bypass could be very beneficial for Kate health-wise, but if she expects the surgery to be a magical instant cure, she won't succeed and failure after undergoing such a dramatic step could be very damaging to her mental and emotional health. That's why it's crucial for weight loss surgery patients to undergo counseling before and after surgery. The actress's attitude towards surgery makes me think they'll have Kate reconsider, which is fine if she can lose weight without weight loss surgery, but I hope the show doesn't just write off the surgery as something that can never work or as taking the easy way out because it can be life-saving for some.
  2. I loved Randall’s enthusiasm for Thanksgiving and was kind of annoyed with Beth for insisting Rebecca tell him the truth right then and ruin his favorite holiday. The thing about painful family secrets is they don’t magically disappear overnight so I see no harm in letting the man enjoy one last family holiday before shattering his world. Obviously it didn't matter in the end anyway because he found out on his own, but still. Hope Kate’s breakup with Toby sticks. I really felt for Kate when she got on the plane and realized everyone was looking at her hoping she wouldn’t be sitting next to them. As long as she’s healthy enough to undergo the surgery, I think gastric bypass is actually a smart decision for her but I think she’ll end up backing out for one reason or another. As for Rebecca forgetting the name of Kevin’s play, on it’s own it might seem like a small thing but I get why it bothered him. We learned last episode that she never bothered to go see a taping of his show when he was on The Manny, and now she can’t even recall the title of the play he’s so excited to be doing, despite Kevin having told her “like 8 times,” according to him, yet she can remember Randall’s latest assistant’s name? Seems like a lack of effort or interest on her part when it comes to Kevin so I don’t blame him for being upset. Miguel shouldn’t have asked to wear the hat.
  3. Same here. I'm nothing like adult Kevin as I'm pretty shy and have no desire to be in the spotlight (sort of like adult Kate), but I so related to little Kevin's dramatic speech to his parents at the pool because coming from a large, loud family where my siblings demanded more attention than I did growing up, I often felt overlooked and like I got lost in the shuffle as a kid. That "Where's Kevin? He's dead!" line was definitely a sentiment I felt like blurting out a few times as a child, but of course I was always too shy to really bring on the dramatics. My nieces wear them, too. In fact they started wearing bikinis as toddlers. I don't see the big deal. It's just a bathing suit and if anyone's sexualizing a little girl in a bikini, well then the problem isn't the little girl in the bikini.
  4. I bet that scene ends up just being a dream. Alison probably has a nightmare about Rollins coming for her now that she thinks she's having his baby. I can't imagine why else she'd be writing her name as "Mrs. Rollins" in a scene after we've seen her explicitly state she prefers to go by DiLaurentis because Rollins tortured her. Unless she goes crazy and decides she's going to pretend that Rollins wasn't evil for the sake of her future child and goes back to using his name to keep up appearances.
  5. Yeah I'm not sure why they didn't utilize the summer more. It's not like the girls ever went to class or anything, so structuring the show around the school year was unnecessary. So we had the never-ending night of Alison's disappearance on Labor Day 2009 where Alison somehow managed to see every person who ever stepped foot in Rosewood, and then the never-ending month of November 2011 that lasted from 3x14 to 512, where there were more episodes (47) than there are days in the month.
  6. I don't care for the time jump and knew I wasn't going to from the moment it was announced, but I really think they had no choice but to do it. They had stretched two years of high school into 5 and a half seasons, so the actresses continued to age while the characters did not. They started their senior year of high school in the beginning of season 3, and yet by the middle of season 5, more than 2 seasons later, they've only made it to Thanksgiving of that same year when Mona is fake murdered, so the entirety of seasons 3, 4 and half of 5 occur over a couple of months, which is utterly ridiculous when you consider all the drama that plays out in that time. So I get why they had to jump ahead to catch up to real time and why they skipped over the college years where the girls were going to be separated, but per usual, they went about it in the worst possible way. I wish the girls had remained close over the years and that they had actually gotten smarter, instead of somehow learning absolutely nothing. At least before they had the excuse of being dumb, scared kids but now that they're supposedly functioning adults, it's just frustrating watching them make the same old mistakes.
  7. Heh, you're probably right. More likely than not they probably just don't know how to write for her now that she's not dead anymore.
  8. I’ve always wondered if maybe Alison was never as “amazing" as we were led to believe. The Alison we saw in early seasons was seen entirely through other people’s eyes. She only existed in flashbacks and flashbacks are shown from the narrator’s perspective. We didn’t get to see Alison on her own terms till season 5 and that’s when she started seeming more fallible. Like she was still running the occasional scheme because she was scared, but she was also crying alone in her room a lot. And she only got progressively more mopey from there. So maybe the version of Alison who could fly planes and peer into people’s souls, and who ran around in wigs plotting and scheming, was just the exaggerated version of Alison the girls created in their minds once she was gone to cope with her disappearance. I think because the girls idolized Alison for being bolder and seemingly more sophisticated than them when they were younger, and because Alison was always playing a part and rarely let them see the real her, the girls painted a picture of Alison where they made her out to be this larger than life almost mythical being who somehow did all these amazing things, which is why this current more human version of her pales in comparison. Also she has very little agency in her own story now which makes her boring.
  9. Yeah if Alison had Emily's eggs implanted in her, it happened when she was in Welby. At the end of 7x02 she's wheeled out of her regular room while heavily drugged up and through the halls. So she wouldn't know because she would have been unconscious during the procedure which is why this is such a gross storyline because it means her body was physically violated while she was unconscious. As for why she would keep it and not get an abortion, could be because of her religious views. Or maybe AD is going to blackmail and threaten her into carrying it to term. But it's also been established since the start of the time jump that Alison is desperate for a family. That's why she was so eager to believe Charlotte had gotten better, why she jumped into marriage with a psychopath con-artist, was willing to give Mary a chance despite knowing that she had dressed up like her dead mother's rotting corpse in an attempt to drive her insane, and also probably why she keeps crying about missing her mother even though her mother was awful....so I could see Alison deciding to keep the baby because she'll finally have the family she's always wanted.
  10. Not sure if this was addressed or not, but what did Hanna run Noel’s blood against that wasn’t a match? The doctor says he tested the sample Hanna gave against the DNA she provided and that those two people are not related. We only see her hand the doctor a vile of blood, presumably Noel’s, and an envelope of cash. So who’s DNA did she provide? Charlotte’s? Mary’s? Alison’s? And how did Hanna get a hold of it?
  11. I saw someone theorize that the sperm could have come from Charlotte if she decided to freeze her sperm before she transitioned because why not make the situation even grosser. But would Emily have any legal rights over eggs she donated? Don't donors surrender their parental rights? And Alison isn't just a surrogate because she didn't consent to being a surrogate so she didn't give up her rights upon having the eggs implanted. I know it's pointless to try to make sense of anything on this show, especially this convoluted baby plot, but I'm just curious. It actually seems like the father would have the biggest stake over the kid.
  12. * Alison’s pregnancy will affect all of the Liars, “especially Emily.” As for the nature of the pregnancy, King reminds us that “nothing is average on PLL. Everything is spectacular.” So looks like Alison was definitely impregnated with Emily's eggs. Gross. Who in the writers room thought this was a good idea? And how exactly will the other girls be affected by Ali's pregnancy, other than being horrified by it? And so Alison is most likely carrying a baby that has no genetic connection to her. She'd still be legally the mother if she carries it to term, right? Thank God the show is ending in 10 episodes so we won't be subjected to a lengthy court battle where A.D. tries to sue for custody anonymously or some bullshit like that. I hope one of these multiple weddings is Ezra and the newly-un-dead Nicole so Aria will finally be free. But it's probably a future Ezria/Haleb double wedding where Emison's spawn will serve as flower girl/ring bearer.
  13. When was the last time we actually saw Alison use anyone or be manipulative? I wish she still had some of that spark in her, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Instead she's the one being used and manipulated by evil fake doctors and her crazy aunt. I totally get people not shipping Emison or whatever but nothing we've seen from Alison since she grew up has indicated she's playing with anyone's feelings. Her jealousy at finding out Emily was dating Sabrina and then seeing her with Paige was obviously real.
  14. No she's not gay. She's not straight either. Marlene has said Alison is going to address her sexuality in 7b so I guess we'll eventually find out how she identifies herself.
  15. Loved that Hanna called Mona for assistance when she realized she was in over her head and Mona just showed up ready to get to work. That Haleb scene was so awkward and such a waste of time. Spencer asking to kiss Toby goodbye was also really awkward. It kind of made Spencer look sort of pathetic. I like Alison and Emily together but whatever they’re doing with them is weird. They don’t seem to ever really talk, they just dance around their feelings and hook up and then carry on dealing with the ridiculous circumstances of their lives. Plus Alison is probably pregnant with Emily’s child without either of their knowledge or consent so that’s gross. They really shouldn’t have bothered bringing Paige back. She came across as clingy and possessive and she and Emily aren’t even together and it seems like her sole purpose was to push Alison and Emily together and surely the writers could have figured out another way to do that without making Paige look like an obsessive stalker. Is Toby dead? Is Yvonne dead? Did AD kill them? AD obviously bought his house, right? Look at Aria being disappointed that Nicole wasn’t horrible murdered in South America! She’s such a peach. Spencer being Mary’s kid was so obvious. So Jason is her half-brother on her father’s side, but her cousin on her mother’s side. And now she and Alison are related as well so maybe Alison can stop trying to form a family with any psycho that looks her way because Spencer is technically her family. I wish Spencer or Alison had been the one to decapitate Noel so one more liar could join the accidental murderer club, because both Hanna and Emily are repeat offenders now. Gonna miss Noel Khan's beautiful face. Jenna blindly walking around in the dark waving a gun around was visually hilariously. The girls not even attempting to tackle her from behind and disarm her was infuriating though. Sure, just let her wander around shooting in the dark. This finale was really anti-climatic, even with the ship pandering, unwanted pregnancy, shooting, and decapitating. The only piece of the puzzle that was solved was that Spencer's Mary's second child but since we know Spencer isn't A.D. or helping A.D. that reveal doesn't really get us any closer. I guess we learned that we could check Noel and Jenna off the suspect list but I don't think anyone seriously considered them being A.D.. And I'm still not sure what Noel and Jenna were even trying to accomplish. Before Noel's head went bye-bye he was ranting about always getting what he wants but what does he want? I can't even imagine what half-assed nonsense they're going to come up with as motive for him. If they even bother giving him a motive.
  16. Wonder if they moved it to April so it could serve as lead in to Marlene's new show. Not sure why they think PLL would be good promotion, it's more like a warning of the horrors that lie ahead.
  17. Paige calling Emily her girlfriend in that sneak peek makes her look like a crazed obsessed stalker. Also it looks like Emily starts to say "she's pregnant" but stops on the "p" and says "in trouble" so the gross possibility that Alison is preganant is looking more likely.
  18. I actually went on an overnight trip (3 nights actually) with my high school where we went to New England and toured a bunch of museums and historical sites and even got in a couple of college visits, and a whole host of random teachers came along as chaperones, but yeah, considering Alison literally just returned from "medical leave" or whatever they were calling it and did not have the smoothest transition back, it makes no sense that she'd be a chaperone even on a day trip. I'm not entirely convinced that Paige is supposed to come across as creepy, I think we're supposed to read the creepy staring and casual stalking as romantic interest in Emily because these writers can't differentiate between creepy and romantic, plus Lindsey Shaw plays the character with this kind of crazed, wide-eyed, intensity that makes her come across as more sinister than probably intended. I'd like to believe that she's actually involved in the A.D. mystery but I feel like that's giving the writers too much credit and they're likely just wasting our time bringing back random characters because they feel like it.
  19. The writers of this show really need to familiarize themselves with the scripts that come before their episodes. When Jason first tells Aria about the fire at Aunt Carol’s, Aria pretends to be surprised but then he says he’s worried Archer was trying to hurt Ali so Aria tells him the fire was accident. Jason asks her if she was there with Ali, and Aria replies, “yeah,” except Aria was never there. She was off in Ezra land. I mean this all happens like 2 episodes before, it shouldn’t be that hard to keep straight. Aria didn’t have to say she was with Ali, she could have said Ali told her about it.
  20. I really thought Hanna was going to give up on her ridiculous mission to get Noel to talk after she failed to roofie him and let him steal back Sara’s phone, but then she comes back, bashes him on the head and knocks him out, and I was actually a little proud. I mean of course she’s wrong about him being A.D but good for her for seeing her horrible plan through. I’m actually mildly intrigued by Noel’s involvement with the Dollhouse. Was he just helping Charlotte because they're friends and friends help each other torture people, or did she have something on him and force him into it? Aria is an idiot. And judging by that look of relief on her face when she found Nicole is not alive, not a very good person. Jason is gorgeous, has the hair and body of a god, and has dedicated his life to helping poor children, and for some reason, he’s into Aria. But Aria’s picks the whiney statutory rapist who preyed on her in high school instead. Alison not being in this episode was stupid. It’s the penultimate episode of 7A, the mystery is yet again about her family, she should be involved, not away on a school trip. "Out of town" should be reserved for missing parents and love interests, not the girls themselves. Instead we get Jaria flashbacks and a look at the many loves of Emily Fields. The girls not actually being involved in the mystery that’s ruining their lives is getting old. Why are Aria and Jason, of all people, investigating Mary's second child? Is Paige stalking Sabrina now? Why was she just sitting in the Brew staring at her with that creepy intense look? It honestly looked like she was planning on killing her. I hope she’s A.D. so there'd at least be a valid reason for her return. And so Emily’s dating Sabrina, but flirting with Paige and by the looks of it, is cuddling with Alison in next week’s episode? That was nice of the liars to hold off on going to the cops with the flash drive full of evidence so that A.D. would have a chance to steal it from them. They're so considerate.
  21. That could be a possibility. A.D. does have a helpful side, as we've seen by him taking Emily's test and doing Ali's dry cleaning. Or maybe it was Mary taking her somewhere and giving her something to help fight off Rollins once she realized Rollins was taking things too far. Literally anything other than her being impregnated without her consent would be acceptable. Shay and Sasha know how popular the pairing is and probably promote it because they have fun with it and it makes their fans happy and generates social media buzz. I like Sabrina for Emily, she seems normal and low-key but there's no way she's lasting because she's too normal and kind of boring. And I wouldn't have an issue with Alison or Emison getting together now as adults because their past is behind them and I honestly think Alison has more of a reason to be wary of Emily's feelings than Emily does of Alison's because Alison hasn't manipulated Emily since she was 15 but Emily has twice falsely accused Alison of murder since then, so I'd imagine there'd be some trust issues. Also if Emily's other "epic love" option is Paige, I'll pass because something about Paily bugs me... like Paige just seems so intensely in love with Emily and Emily never seemed as into it, so it comes across as weird and one-sided to me. Anyway, no sane person, shipper or not, could want this for these characters.
  22. Because the writers probably think it's a shocking twist? When I first saw people freaking out about it I thought it was stupid. That there was no way the writers would go there because it's such a terrible idea, and I honestly still sort of believe that, but at the same time I realize that they could go there because it easily fits into the plot that we've seen unfold. We know A.D. took Emily's eggs last season and we know Alison was taken somewhere in Welby by someone and presumably had something done to her. Plus when it comes to PLL I find it's always best to imagine the worst possible scenario and then work your way backwards. I still don't think the writers would give any of the girls a baby because pregnancy and babies sort of impede story-telling in a way, but then again it's the last season and these writers have a pretty messed up idea of what's considered romantic, as demonstrated by Ezra's entire existence, so maybe they think this is some great epic way to bring Ali and Emily together. I don't know, I'm just throwing some theories out there, but for my own sanity I'm gonna stick with believing Alison threw up simply because she was scared/nervous, and not because she was impregnated against her will.
  23. I thought the same thing and was kind of surprised they'd hint at it so casually. It's probably not what they intended to suggest but going off the doctor's words that he was busy at Radley because female patients often got "in trouble" and weren't treated very well, definitely made it sound like they were being raped. There’s a scene at the end of 7x02 where someone comes into Alison’s room at Welby, injects her with something and wheels her bed out of the room and through the halls of the hospital and through a pair of double doors. We don’t see this person, just their gloved hands so it wasn't Rollins because we had already seen Rollins openly torturing and drugging Ali so there was no reason to conceal his identity. This is after the liars of course turn her over to A.D. and they get a text from him/her saying “Ali’s mine now” and start to suspect A.D. has access to Ali in Welby. Also I just rewatched the scene and the music they play over the end where she's being wheeled through the hospital sounds so familiar, like a lullaby I can't place. (scene starts just after the 3 minute mark of this video if anyone's interested). If they’re really going with the A.D. implanted Emily's fertilized eggs story in Alison storyline, and I hope to God they don't because it would be a gross violation of Alison's body and way too dark and ridiculous, this could have been when it happened. We never find out who took her or where they took her or what they did to her. I had originally thought it was just Rollins taking her somewhere to drug her up some more, but he would have just done that in her room like we'd seen him doing so there'd be no reason to make a big production out of the scene.
  24. So apparently people on social media think Alison is pregnant (with Emily's missing fertilized eggs of course) because she threw up at work? I didn't get that from the scene at all, I thought it was pretty obvious that she was throwing up because those horrible little brats in her class rattled her with their A prank and she was scared. But then again, this show is terrible and I wouldn't put it past them to do the worst thing imaginable.
  25. Does the answer count if it came in the form of a dream? I don't know if we're supposed to accept these answers as truths or not because Alison didn't actually answer any questions, Hanna just dreamt she did. But then real Alison didn't deny it later on when Hanna mentioned it, so who knows. This show is so bad, why do we do this to ourselves?
