Anyone actually watch Famous in Love? It looks awful but I admit I might just be biased because I can't stand Bella Thorne, plus I have no interest in the show's plot. And I'd never subject myself to another show run by Marlene King but I do wonder if FIL is doing well for the network and if it's going to get another season. They pushed back this final season of PLL so it could serve as it's lead in so I imagine they had high hopes for it.

S07.E16: The Glove That Rocks the Cradle

Yeah, I thought about that too. Makes no sense but really, none of these last minute reveals make much sense because the writers can't or won't bother to fit them into the story we've already seen. But then again, Charlotte did have a weird way of showing her love for people so it's possible she did care for Lucas but was also totally cool with him being bullied for whatever reason. She supposedly loved Alison so much but also tried to strangle her in her house that one time and then had her beaten up in jail to intimidate her, so who knows, she's not the greatest friend. -

Yeah, I think the obsession with the terrible shit Alison did when she was literally 14 years old is a bit odd at this point. All the liars have done bad things, so have all the romantic partners, side characters, family members, the cops, Mona, Pastor Ted, Tippi the bird probably, and just about everyone on this damn show because 7 seasons is a long time. Mona made Hanna's and her friends' lives hell for a year and then hit her with a car, and Hanna forgave her. Toby was literally on the A team and drove Spencer to a nervous breakdown by faking his own death, and Ezra was a lying stalking pedophile who preyed on Aria sexually to gather info for his true crime novel, yet they were forgiven and their crimes long forgotten, both by the characters and the general audience, but for whatever reason people are still stuck on Alison being a teenage bully, which was of course horrible, but this a show where people regularly murder other people and half the male population has a penchant for statutory rape, so why are we so caught up on the mean things Ali said when she was a child? What Aria did to Ali and Emily this episode, and what she's doing to all her friends throughout the course of this Dark Aria run, is probably one of the worst things anyone on this show has ever done and yet, I'm almost certain the liars will completely forgive her by season's end and likely only be mad for maybe 6 seconds. So I don't see a problem with the girls forgiving Alison and welcoming her back into the group after she apologized and showed them she changed, especially since she's basically the only character who's ever really been "punished" for her past mistakes, at least in terms of karma. I mean her friends have falsely accused her of murder twice now, both times leading to some pretty dire consequences like being convicted of murder and imprisoned, and then being strapped down to a bed and forcibly impregnated by a vindictive psycho who was led to believe she was responsible for Charlotte's murder, so if they can all forgive each other and still be friends then props to them and maybe it's time to move on because it's been almost 10 years since Alison was the high school mean girl. -

Oh sure, Mona absolutely deserves their respect at this point and if I were them I would totally bring her into the game and see if she could help because while she'll always be a little bit shady, she's a valuable asset, but it's not like they need to start hanging out with her or inviting her to coffee and trusting her with non-game related things, because they were never friends. I mean, would I personally love to see that? Absolutely because Mona's a great character and a lot of fun to watch. But she was never part of the core friend group that this show is about. I know some people don't care for Alison and will say she doesn't deserve to be either but she's literally the one who brought them all together as friends. When she disappeared, they drifted apart till her body was found. Then they all drifted apart again during college till Alison (rather selfishly) called them all back to Rosewood. -

This comparison is a bit flawed because Mona was never the liars' friend. She was Hanna's friend and only Hanna's friend and Hanna did forgive her, much easier than she forgive Ali actually. Alison however was "friends" with all of them at one point so girls choosing to forgive Ali after everything they've been through with her can't really be compared to them not being super welcoming to Mona because there's no basis to Mona's relationship with the girls, other than her being original A. For all the terrible things Alison did to them when they were younger and everything the girls blamed her for, they did still care about each other and were actual friends. And I actually think they have forgiven Mona to a degree and trust her more than I probably would in their situation but why would they start being her friend all of a sudden? -

Spencer was pretty badass this episode and I'm here for it. Doesn't Marco know Spencer's been tortured, blackmailed and threatened for basically her whole life, it's going to take a little more that a stern phone call to scare her. Hanna needs to stop shrieking all the damn time. I feel like all she does is roll her eyes and yell about how THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING TO ME NOW!!! like it's literally been happening to you for years, stop shouting. Lucas makes a lame red herring. No one was buying it and no one cares. I thought the last Emison scene and their kiss was sweet but the baby thing is still so cringey and gross to me and they didn't need to have this baby to be together. I did like when Ali said she feels like Emily is testing her and she knows she's failing because that is what it seems like Emily is doing with the baby, but for some reason, they're still going to have it. I love Mona so part of me is happy to see her stand up for herself and demand some trust and respect but also she was A once upon a time. Like she did stalk and torment them all for a while, and hit Hanna with a car, and try to throw Spencer off a cliff that one time, and then framed Ali for murder, like those are all real things that happened so I can see why Hanna is worried the others might not trust her. Never have I wished for someone to get clobbered over the head with a candle stick more than I have watching Emily creep after Dark Aria. I'd like to think Aria was crying because she felt immensely guilty about terrorizing her friends and destroying their childhood memories and scaring the crap out of a pregnant woman and upsetting Emily so much, but who are we kidding, her selfish Ezra obsessed ass was probably just really upset about that cut on her arm and worried that it might leave a scar and ruin her wedding photos with Ezra.- 77 replies

Yeah, I didn't want to accuse Emily of trying to trap Alison but that's essentially what she doing and it makes zero sense for the character. Emily would never do something to hurt someone she loves, she's always been super caring and protective, but now she's emotionally blackmailing Alison into having a child that Alison didn't want and is the product of medical rape, despite seeing how sick and devastated Alison is over the whole thing? The only explanation that makes sense to me is that Emily wants to be with Alison and have a family with her and she sees this as her best shot at getting that because Alison has never been able to open up to her and take that step towards a real relationship, but now she'll basically be forced to let Emily in. What bothers me most is that Alison looked so shocked and horrified when Emily first asked her to keep it, but ultimately Ali changes her mind for Emily and it's just so gross and wrong because it's like the writers are making Alison do this to prove she's worthy of Emily's love because Ali is "bad" and Emily is "good" and this is how Alison can redeem herself. And Emily has never given any indication that she wants to be a mother so soon, and her reasons for wanting the baby were such bullshit: She doesn't want AD to win even though AD obviously wants Ali to have the baby considering AD is the one who put it inside her? Ok sure. And then she doesn't want to have to write an angry letter to a child who won't exist if Ali terminates the pregnancy? Like that's the best they could come up with? Alison wanting to keep the baby would make so much more sense narratively. Alison is the one who was in a hurry to start a family because she didn't have one of her own, and having Emily's baby would guarantee Emily would be in Ali's life forever and she wouldn't have to worry about losing her. Of course Ali wanting to have Emily's baby would verge on manipulative, but I guess that wasn't offensive enough, so the writers decided to turn up the ick factor a few notches and bring it into emotionally abuse territory because romance or whatever. -

Oh it's totally going to be Charlotte's sperm. Really unless AD is a man and used his own sperm, then who else would be worth this dramatic "who's the daddy?" nonsense? The answer has to be shocking to maximize the grossness of it. -

Well Emily does say she found the stuff in the attic and that it's Ali's baby stuff her mom kept and stored away, so she didn't buy it all. Not that it would matter because money seems to be of no issue on this show even though both Emily and Ali are supposed to be broke yet we occasionally see Emily wearing like $200 pajamas. But anyway, it being Ali's baby things just makes it sadder and more messed up that Dark Aria is going to destroy it at A.D.'s request because it's not stuff from a store that can be replaced. Although there's episode stills of Spencer helping Emily put together the crib, so maybe Emily bought that. Unless Jessica stored Ali's crib in pieces. I think AD is just trying to mess with Alison, Emily, and Aria. AD created this baby so I would assume they want it to be born and that's why they revealed it was Emily's eggs right before Ali was about to have an abortion and made her register for baby gifts so she'd feel guilty and reconsider. -

She's wearing the same boots she was wearing earlier in the episode and it looks like she just took her coat off and the black t shirt is what she had under the coat she was wearing when Fury followed her. Same color and neckline. ETA: not my pics but... https://m.imgur.com/HlAPhX0 https://m.imgur.com/B6cqUB6 -

2nd sneak peek. Emily sure doesn't waste any time. -
It wouldn't make sense for Ali to take Emily along with her to the clinic if she was trying to trick her because if she really wasn't pregnant, she'd run the risk of the doctor exposing her. And we saw the appointment card for Alison's scheduled abortion when Paige went through her stuff. There was no way Ali could have known Paige was going to snoop through her bag because Paige wasn't in the room when she left it. We also saw and heard Ali call the women's clinic to cancel that abortion appointment with Emily watching. We've also seen Ali throw up a few times which is usually all the confirmation a woman needs on a tv show. I know a lot of people don't like that this pregnancy storyline is happening...Im one of those people. Although not because I think Ali is a sociopath and is lying but because I think Ali deserves a chance at finally being happy for once and this pregnancy feels like punishment for her all her past mistakes and falling for Archer's schemes, and I think that's kind of gross, but it definitely seems real to me. It would certainly be a shocking twist if that turned out not to be the case though.
-
Emily went to the doctor with her last episode. It's not shown but when Emily meets the girls for coffee, she says they just went to the clinic and explained the situation the best they could to get a rush on the blood test. Ali seemed to be leaning towards not having the baby until Emily asked her to so I don't see how Ali could be using the pregnancy to manipulate Emily into a relationship. If anything it seemed like Emily was pushing the idea because she wants to raise a child with Ali.

Twin-cer?! Someone in an incredibly life-like Spencer face mask? Or just good old multiple personalities? My sister said #Avataria sounded like Paige too, but I don't think it was necessarily meant to. Just bad digital effects. Not only that, but who in Rosewood leaves their door unlocked? It's like the suburban murder capital of the world. And why would Alison, who has been violently assaulted in that very house twice before (one time fairly recently during 7a), leave her door unlocked? That makes even less sense. -

Yeah there’s really no reason for Emily to want Alison to have this particular baby that was conceived in such a violent and violating way, unless she’s randomly pro-life, which we know she’s not because she was supportive of Ali aborting Archer’s baby. I think Hanna talking about how she wants to have babies with Caleb might have made Emily think about having babies with Alison and is going to set up Emison being together, but this baby isn’t actually Emily and Alison’s, it's Emily's and mystery creepy dude whose sperm was used to fertilize her eggs which were then implanted into Alison without her consent, so not quite the cute little picture Hanna was painting. And Emily and Alison could still get together and have a baby on their own down the line if they want. Neither of them seem to have fertility issues so no need to treat this baby like it's their only chance. They could eventually have a baby that isn't born from an act of abuse when they're ready. Emily talking about how she didn’t want to have to write a regretful letter to her kid one day like Mary made no sense because if Ali went through with the abortion, there would be no kid to write a letter to.- 99 replies

#Avataria as Marlene has been referring to that ridiculous phone filter thing that kept facetiming Aria on twitter was so hilariously bad that I actually tuned out everything it said. Alison being startled awake by Paige creepily hovering over her and Paige's weird line delivery about Ali not locking the door was kind of funny too. If we didn't know Paige is officially gone after this episode, I would think she was going to return in full revenge mode and kidnap Ali and Emily's baby later on. They make her so intense and creepy for some reason. It's weird because they otherwise write her as pretty just and dignified. -

Emily asking Alison to have the baby seemed kind of off to me. I could buy that Emily might want to be a mom and might even want to start a family with Alison one day if they ever actually talk to each other about their feelings, but Alison didn't consent to having that baby put inside her and Emily pressuring her to carry it to term and have it, knowing that Ali had previously chosen to terminate the pregnancy, seemed super selfish and insensitive and Emily's not usually selfish or insensitive. And I don't know if Emily actually thought her, Ali and Paige could really raise the baby together or if she was just trying to let Paige down gently but the entire idea sounded like the plot of some ill-advised sitcom. Everything about this pregnancy is just sad and gross and I'm getting tired of seeing Alison just look sick and defeated in every scene she's in. Hanna asking Mona to get involved in the game because it's her turn next! when she knows Mona has some mental issues and really can't afford to be pulled back into games like that was also kind of selfish, but Mona is probably the girls' best bet to getting the upper hand in the game. Wonder how long Lucas's red-herring plot will go on for because we all know any one who's a suspect this early in the season could be immediately ruled out because the actual AD is going to be randomly revealed for maximum shock value in the finale. Not sure why the liars are so shocked by Little Lucas and Little Charlotte writing a revenge fantasy comic book and think it's actually going to matter. They were both lonely kids who were picked on and left out, that's exactly the kind of thing I would expect from kids like that. So Dark Aria is a dumpster diver and AD is apparently a magician who can turn comic books in lockers into black hoodies in the matter of seconds. Why can't Dark Aria torture Ezra who actually deserves it and not her friends? Spencer getting drunk off her ass after burying Rollins finally comes back to bite her in the ass. Knew that credit card was Rollins' from the start. Appreciate the symbolism of mother and daughter communicating via wine bottle. The episode was kind of a mess but Troian did a nice job directing and Sasha was really strong in her emotional scenes. -

I feel like they've definitely overdone the doll motif. We're supposed to believe all 3 A's had an unhealthy doll obsession? -
I don't think Paige really has a right to be pissed off about what another woman does with her body or to feel like the betrayed party in this scenario when both Alison and Emily were grossly violated and robbed of their agency (and bodily autonomy in Alison's case). And it's not really up to Emily to decide to keep the baby or not, because again, it's Alison's body. As an egg donor, Emily forfeited her right to make those decisions. Of course this isn't a normal situation and because Emily and Alison care for each other it complicates matters, which is obviously what AD wants, but it looks like both Alison and Emily will make the decision together since it effects them both and if Paige wants to stay in Emily's life, she'd just have to accept that. I do think Paige will leave when she realizes Emily is conflicted about her feelings for Alison and about the baby, and I expect that to happen sooner rather than later, which is why the bike scene seemed like such a silly waste of time to me. But then again 90% of this show is a silly waste of time.
-
That Emily/Paige bike scene felt so out of place to me. The race, the reminiscing about shit no one knows or cares about, the silly music, the camera panning in a circle as they kissed, the over the top laughing afterwards… it was like for 1 minute, Emily and Paige were on a completely different show. It was just kind of weird. Also weird how nothing Emily has said or done up until that point suggested that she had any interest in Paige as more than a friend, but suddenly she was hoping for another chance and taking a break from being stalked and blackmailed to ride bikes and make out in the street with her ex-girlfriend like a couple of school kids? It'll never cease to amaze me that these girls still find time to date and engage in all this banal romantic nonsense while a villainous omnipresent psychopath torments them and destroys their lives.
-
I knew the baby story was going to go in this direction but it was still pretty gross to watch it play out and to hear Alison describe how she was strapped down to her bed in Welby and couldn't stop it. And the scene of Ali having to register baby gifts for a baby she had at that time decided to abort was just kind of sad. Kind of surprised they were so direct with the abortion talk though, they seemed to be avoiding the word up until now. Mary being Jessica's killer and Ted being Charlotte's father were technically answers, and we've been promised answers so I feel like I should be happy about that, but they were pretty lame reveals. I can't take anything Sydney does or says seriously so her being A.D.'s minion just made me laugh. Ezra is still the worst. I'd be more excited for Aria turn at playing for the dark side if it wasn't being driven by her feelings about Ezra and Nicole.
-
Having an abortion? Obviously that's not happening though and if it were, I'd assume Emily would go with her. There's really no reason for her to be "out of town" but they already used the class trip excuse to explain Alison missing an episode in 7A.
-
Another boring episode. Seemed like a lot of filler for a show in the home stretch. Do we really need to waste time on Spencer playing ping pong? I liked Yvonne. Sad she had to be sacrificed to the Spoby gods. Aria manhandling Sidney was kind of hilarious. I wouldn't read too much into Alison's absence. Sasha never appears in every episode of a season, I think it might be a contract thing, so it was her turn to be "out of town" this week. I did wonder if Hanna conveniently mentioning that her name is still legally Alison Rollins means that we'll finally get the rest of that fast-forward scene we saw in season 6 where the girls confront Alison in her classroom as she's writing Mrs. Rollins on the board.
