I found SBu and ALW to be pretty similar in the way that they relied on their screen partners to carry their pairings. I found both put in the bare minimum themselves with made Journey extra painful.

They’re really hammering in that Carly is the matriarch and all of the other women are her bestest girlfriends. Like she didn’t go 25 years with 1 female friend because she was completely vile towards other woman and a huge misogynist. Character growth is great but there has to be some self acknowledgement for that.

I think the show is struggling what to write for his character. Their current default for pairings seems to be working together which I guess means that they don’t want to show him as a cop right now. I don’t remember JS being an impressive singer to warrant this SL. His NB performances were heavily auto tuned and the songs he performed weren’t particularly challenging to begin with.

I might be misremembering but I think they pretended like he went offscreen years later when they were really nailing in how Michael was so well adjusted and successful compared to his screwup siblings Morgan and Kristina but we saw him constantly in those years and he never mentioned school. His being voted in as CEO over Tracy when he was like 20 and had no experience was so insulting. Also, he never even applied to college. Kristina did it for him and Molly wrote his admission essays. He couldn’t even manage that because he was set on joining dear old dad in the mob.

Lol she’s unqualified but is she really any more unqualified than most of the town are with their jobs save the ones who came on the show established in their fields?

I don’t put much stock in that pseudo Spinelli reporter’s abilities if he didn’t know (or consider) that Alexis has her own ties to the Corinthos family and to Jax for that matter and probably wouldn’t be super willing to sensationalize a sex tape starring Josslyn.

Idk but it’s dumb. I have a few nurse friends who became NPs and the big reason for that versus the MD route was that they didn’t want to go back to undergrad to complete additional prerequisites that they didn’t need for their nursing degree, followed by 4 years of med school, then a residency and possible fellowship. Pip would be close to retirement age by the time the training is over

They’ll probably play up Joss’ connection to Sonny but I laughed as well. It’s like they can’t decide whether Port Charles is a tiny town where everyone knows each other or a sprawling metropolis where all of these wealthy people flock to.

True but whatever they’re doing with Drew/Carly makes it obvious that they don’t see Carly as a character who can stand on her own without a man propping her up and telling her she’s amazing, brave, strong, etc. They had the perfect opportunity to give her an arc with Jason and Jax gone but they just slotted another guy in. I know characters on soaps are rarely single but Carly’s reliance on a man is so beyond a pairing and truly toxic. It’s why I always cringed when LW cheerleaded Jarly and talked about how Carly always had Jason’s support, which allowed her to get into whatever trouble she wanted, with zero self awareness of how that sounded.

IMO LW has always struggled with romantic chemistry. She’s the only female vet whose never had a “hot” pairing. Her best one was CarJax but I even found them lukewarm. It’s the opposite of the first 2 Carly’s who were chemistry magnets. The knowing the real Jason crap will always annoy me because god forbid she remembers that this is the brain damaged version of Jason and he had a whole life before this along with loved ones. The “real” Jason would have hated what he became and how he treated his family, Ironic when she gets mad at everything Sonny did while he had amnesia.

I’m never going to not find it weird that Michael’s 75 year old grandmother who runs an entire hospital is also an on call babysitter. Like I’m sure the kid has a live in nanny if we’re supposed to believe that Michael is a busy CEO and Willow is in school. Even if he didn’t, there was absolutely no one else out of his zillion relatives that can watch him?

So while that reporter was gross, I cheered Michael getting arrested. At his big age, he needs to learn that he can’t go around assaulting people with no repercussions and he already got off 2 undeserved cheap shots on Chase and Scott

IA. I’m not a Drew fan so I don’t care if they go there but I have zero interest in watching them trying to portray soccer mom Carly as an adventure girl so they can bond. Especially when she was never that character, even in her younger years.

At this point, I wouldn’t include Drew on anything. He wasn’t especially useful on the Peter mission and he was dumb enough to tell big mouth Carly about Victor.

I found BC incredibly insufferable but Morgan is the only interesting one out of Sonny and Carly’s kids. Probably because they could blame anything fun he did on being bipolar.

Why do people keep encouraging Alexis to date? I think we’re supposed to be frustrated by her but honestly, she shouldn’t be. Her last 2 relationships, even for a soap, ended tragically and she hasn’t even been sober for a year yet. Didn’t Neil’s death trigger her relapse?

They play Sasha and Brando so strangely. Most of the time, they’re another young, lower tier couple like Molly/TJ that pop up once a month and are relatively inoffensive but then they’ll throw them these moments befitting of lead characters when there’s no investment in them to care.

What kind of drugs is Sasha on? Apparently they’re miracle workers since they just make her happy with no manic behavior or come down… or the actress is too weak to play this SL. For someone who claims that it’s painful to see Sonny, Carly keeps coming up with reasons to seek him out. Those scenes with Carson, Nina and Gladys today were just weird. Not sure if it was intentional but temp recast Harmony sounded extra cult-y today when she was talking to Alexis.

They confirmed at the end that Ryan and Esme are father and daughter but their scenes have off a weirdly sexual vibe and knowing Ryan’s own history doesn’t help. He also basically told her to seduce Nik so this got creepy really quickly.

The cast is too big and rather than make cuts and actually write different character driven SLs, they come up with these half assed umbrella stories to throw 12 characters into it playing investigator. I actually think this started back with Shiloh. Then we got the same thing with Peter and Cyrus. The issue for me when they do that is that, the story is really about the villain since there are so many other characters on the other side and the other characters involved end up fighting for a sliver of POV. If you only watch the show for any of those specific characters, it’s not inherently interesting because it’s obvious they could easily slot a different character in for those same scenes most of the time.

On the one hand, I’m glad they feature Lucy but she’s mainly on as the NB host, real estate agent, to officiate weddings, or as a talk to for Sasha who I could care less about. It’s once in a blue moon that Lucy shares a scene with the vets she has an actual history with and she’s never included in their SLs.

Didn’t we already know Ryan was faking? Part of me feels like this storyline was supposed to play out back when Alexis was there and it got postponed due to poor pacing hence why she had nothing to do but have visitors pop in to recap their SLs. I don’t get Esme’s plots because she seems to do things with no foresight. However the actress is entertaining. I also think this SL would have been 100% better if they didn’t write Joss as Carly jr and had allowed her to be snowed by Esme. Having her “see her for what she is” takes out what little punch this SL had and could have led to an actual Joss/Trina conflict when the truth was revealed. I’ll second (or third?) the comments that some SLs are limited simply because god forbid Carly’s kids are wrong.

She miscarried when Kristina accidentally ran her down with her car. Part of Sonny’s public rant against Claudia which led to her taking Carly hostage included him thanking god that their baby didn’t survive

Honestly I think it was harped on by a particular fanbase whose favorite character didn’t have multiple baby daddies at the time. Same with how other female characters are branded as sluts for having out of wedlock or unplanned kids when it’s a soap staple.

I think they forgot about Kate’s old place but, yes Sonny owns it. He bought it because he knew Jax wanted it and didn’t want Jax living next door. As far as buying Jax’s place, I could actually see it. He bought Julian’s bar, maybe he has a kink for taking over places that used to belong to guys he hates. Though I think it was just a passing mention since built a new penthouse set for him. If anyone needed to be thrown an repurposed home set, it should have been Sonny since I doubt this split is permanent and he’ll be back at his old place in a few months.
