Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality
Bort replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
My high school had cheerleaders AND a halftime show dance group. On football game days, they’d wear their full uniforms to school. Football players would wear their jerseys. People would wear their varsity jackets when it was cold but not otherwise. It was Texas, nobody was wearing a jacket when it was 90°. -
You’re right, I don’t know what I was smoking— or drinking…
-
I’m sorry, but I’ve never heard of any couple who label their shit in their home fridge like that. Obviously, Catherine had a reason for it as her drink was cannabis-laced but if I came home and found my spouse had written their name on random items like it was a shared dorm fridge, I’d be asking them about it. I’d be like, “Why is this your personal drink?”

I know that, I was just pointing out that a return passport stamp doesn’t exist. You go through customs, “did you pet any barnyard animals,” “no,” then they send you on your way.
-
Ok, I hated The Americans. That was hard pass for me. I noped out of it after only one episode.
-
You don’t get a stamp coming back to your own country.

I don’t like Seinfeld either but I do like that English Patient episode. I very much identified with Elaine, who kept getting dragged to a movie she hated because people thought she wasn’t watching it correctly or something. I’ve definitely had that experience with not liking something that’s mostly beloved and then people seem to judge you for it.

No, that’s not how that works. For one, you can’t use a VPN for Netflix, it won’t let you. It’s one of the things Netflix has done to keep people from using them to get around geo location. Two, if you’re an American in Europe, you CAN access your Netflix but you can only access what they offer in Europe. For instance, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was able to watch The Big Bang Theory over there on Netflix.

Also fair point. I would assume it took a few generations for horses to become domesticated.

Can’t they find some horses? The prehistoric ones are still wandering around at that point in history.

That may be the key there. I am ultra oblivious about what people are wearing. In my own milieu and traveling elsewhere. I just… don’t care, thus I don’t pay attention.

I don’t think there are shoulder pads there, just a poof to the sleeve where it attaches to the shoulder.

The Coopers being on a fixed income can easily mean that they can’t afford to buy the latest stuff. We had a 70s wooden console tv well into the 90s in my house and it only got replaced when it broke.

I didn’t have one, I kind of wondered why the sister asked Flo over, only to slam the door in her face but otherwise didn’t think much of it.
-
I must have seen that Progressive commercial with Flo and her sister a zillion times and I only just realized that the sister asked Flo over to do her insurance spiel so the baby would fall asleep. So now I think it’s funny. <—— is slow

More likely that the Young Sheldon producers already knew she’d be free and snapped her up.
