  1. Very sad that AJ is out. I was figured he would get the dances more suited to his personality/ability later (except for that samba), like jazz and paso doble (I think I spelled that wrong) and contemporary. I think if he had those, he might have made it to the semi-finals. Kaitlin is just too robotic for me - too pageanty. Since AJ is out, I'm rooting for Justina and/or Johnny. I follow figure skating and he's always a little weird there. It was even weird when he did the challenge dance and still had his Amy Winehouse bouffont on. But at least he's interesting.
  2. Back in the day, I'm sure we all walked or rode our bikes to our activities. I remember multiple times listening to Becky and Darlene talk about taking the bus places. Plus there was lots of family around that didn't all work 9-5 jobs to give rides when needed. And HurricaneVal is totally on point. DJ did deserve to be pissed off. He was the youngest in the family (except for Ghost Baby Jerry) and they treated him like he was the bratty little kid. It's like the "adult unit" in the family was Dan, Becky and Darlene with some Spinster Jackie thrown in, even though DJ was in the military and is married (so he was obviously smart enough to do that). That doesn't mean that Mary doesn't need adult supervision - my kids had some latchkey friends growing up and even if they are capable, it's nice to have a mom (or dad) adult figure making sure you didn't forget your house key or bringing you a snack when giving you a ride to sports. And Mary is at a vulnerable age right now.
  3. If my vet "lost" one of my dogs, I would have lost my mind as well. Before I had switched vets, I took one of my dogs to a "spay and neuter" type clinic. I came back to pick my dog up and found the vet and several of the vet techs smoking in the reception area - the air was grey with cigarette smoke. Since I'm one of those weirdos that thinks my pets are my children, I was not pleased. The vet acting like the dog getting away wasn't her fault was worse. Why not take responsibility? Why blame the plaintiff who gave the dog to the vet tech? Why not mandate a slip harness on every dog? (my last vet always did those slip harnesses as I had pugs and their heads are smaller than their necks).
  4. That was one of my highlights from the original show. That and when Jackie slept with Arnie - oy vey. Nancy got on my nerves though. I did like Bonnie and Ann Marie being woven through the show, along with Crystal. There's a sense of continuity when we kept seeing the supporting characters in the Conner landscape. That's how real life is. And I wonder sometimes if Darlene ever had any friends (besides David) or was she so insufferable that nobody wants to hang out with her.
  5. Defendant was giving me some Tiger King vibes with his hair-do. I've noticed some of the recent cases coming from the San Diego area and there are some "interesting" folks living there. A little like the light version of "Florida Man" (still have some rogue relatives living out there).
  6. What an interesting observation - and so true. It reminds me of the kid playing in "Young Sheldon". Kinda "AfterSchool Special-ish". What exactly is Harris doing now, except for her online romance? Wasn't she supposed to be working at the tattoo shop? (would that even be happening with COVID?) And depending upon where exactly they are supposed to be in reality now, there are a lot of jobs opening up (at least in my area). Maybe not "dream jobs" but I see them advertising through Facebook and Indeed.
  7. I'm hoping AJ has some good dances left. His samba really showed his dance talent. I agree that Justina is a joy to watch. Nev still reminds me of the kid at summer dance camp that tries too hard. And it looked like Nelly was barely holding it together throughout the night. Quick Nelly story - I've heard a few people remark about his dazzling smile. Many years ago I took my then teenage daughters to some kind of teen award show in LA. We had fairly good seats. The whole theater was dark and they were making some kind of announcement and I look down and see this guy crouched next to me - he turns his head and it's Nelly with the biggest grin on (he had a gold tooth in the front at that time - he and the St. Lunatics were going to run from the audience onto the stage for a performance).
  8. I was a little skeeved out about the "props" part - didn't she say something about a "massage wand"? (did I not hear that correctly?)
  9. Roseanne wanted to be a writer but she had to provide for her family. She did a LOT of jobs after Wellman to provide for her family. She worked for the chicken place, the hair salon, Rodbell's as a waitress - she did whatever she needed to help her family (especially her kids). Dan and Roseanne had a kid in "art school" (aka kinda college) and were giving her money every week for her expenses. It's too bad that the biggest thing Darlene learned at "art school" was to look down on people. She hated working at the casino with Crystal (from what I've heard, casino workers make good money and have good benefits). She doesn't have a problem living at home without rent or bills. Now she's complaining about working at Wellman. I don't even feel sorry for Darlene - she just comes off as insufferable to me. I work very closely with a chronically negative person and it's very difficult. I have to ignore her when she goes on her rants and no, she won't eat cake brought in either. ;D The whole thing about Darlene eating lunch in the bathroom was SO cliché high school. I can't remember but I've seen it in a couple of TV shows/movies over the years.
  10. Wasn't it her arm that was sewn up? She needed a plastic surgeon for that? I've always had the ER doctor sew me up and done fine (stuff like my hands, etc). As long as it wasn't a facial injury (like a lip where a plastic surgeon needs to line up the lip line). And who "charges" their own kid to sew them up? Oh, perhaps the plastic surgeon looking for a bo-nan-za from the defendant.
  11. I'm sorry that happened to you. I was the youngest with two way older brothers. It's like being born into a different family. My beef with Andy and Jerry being missing is that Jackie comes off on this reboot as a woman with no life beyond the Connors. She has no ex-husband and no children. Nothing in her life but glimpses of Big Bev and her interactions with the Connors (and that sliver of Booker from this week). It's pretty rare for a woman to get to her 60s without SOME kind of direct relationship imprint. Plus imagine if Andy came back - he could work with her at the Lunchbox. There could be some interactions with Fred (I always remember the whole "Fred became interesting" scene from the original show). The Connor kids could have their cousin in their lives. Same thing with Jerry. Imagine Jerry coming back from the sea for Thanksgiving (even if he showed up randomly). It would be a nod to many of us viewers that watched and rewatched the original show this reboot is based on. And I saw this the other day: https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/29/entertainment/michael-fishman-son-death/index.html
  12. There is some military housing that is not on base. Some military families occupy large sections of multi-family apartments/condos that the military leases. And I think a lot of people work off their phones these days so maybe whatever DJ does requires lots of voice mails and contact that he just hasn't deleted. I loved the in-house Halloween experience. It had a small taste of the original show's Halloween flare. And I bet the Connors have a whole basement area filled with leftover Halloween costumes/ props. I get weaving pieces of the pandemic into the show. We are all dealing with it so it's become just life. Likewise the election stuff, but that speech at the end was a little too "After School Special" for me.
  13. I imagine Dan is very old school and acts like it's his JOB to take care of his family (all grown up with kids, but still his KIDS). He probably didn't ask them to help because he wanted to be the "bread winner" and backbone of the house. Meanwhile the whole lot of them took advantage of Dan's good graces. It's the same reason I always try and pick up the check when my grown kids and I go out to dinner (and sometimes they let me if I'm quick enough). Wacky Jackie started unraveling after she and Fred broke up, but that last season and a half of the original show, she busted out of the mold. She starting to turn out more like Original Recipe Big Bev in her wackiness. Didn't they halt evictions during the pandemic? Wouldn't they also halt a foreclosure? Darlene and Becky breaking down was hard to watch. I hope at least a few of the Connor clan can catch a break during the next few episodes. It's hard watching it on TV when we've all been living it for months.
  14. Loved watching AJ and Cheryl dance! They looked like they were enjoying themselves and I'm excited AJ got good scores. I'm hoping this will be his breakthrough and he will continue to get decent scores. There's just something endearing about Nelly and his smile when he dances. I was reading the comments about the costumes. Bless her heart, I've watched Justina on One Day at A Time every season and she never struck me as a "bigger woman" -maybe in an industry of size 00 as the norm. Yet what the heck are they doing with her costumes? They make her look enormous with a gigantic bottom which she doesn't have, or very tubular. I don't know Johnny's not getting the votes. I always thought DWTS would pick up a lot of the figure skating followers as well (They did have multiple figure skaters in the past). He is perhaps a little unusual with his costuming but hey, that's what makes an interesting show. I can't put my finger on it, but Nev drives me crazy when he dances. He looks like a pageanty pageant kid in the end of summer camp musical.
  15. I wish AJ would close his mouth when dancing. That wide open gaping is distracting. AJ's a longtime smoker so that Electric Boogaloo may be onto something. Otherwise, he looks like he has "cheer face" on (when my D did competitive cheerleading years ago, they all had those weird expressions with open mouths lol). And the lack of AJ's hair kinda creeps me out. I'm wondering if he's prepping for another round of plugs
  16. Granddaddy was giving me some serious Charlie Manson vibes there. It must have been the beard. Or the murder charge. JJ does seem rather short and I wonder if she was DONE with this show (like OVAH it). As for the pots and pans and crockpots, I know with some of my own court dealings (restraining order, divorce, etc), court doesn't have time for dilly-dallying. I had never really been in a courtroom before and was shocked how inaccurately it's displayed on TV. Nobody in any courtroom I've been in cares about your Crockpot, even if it came over from Italy to Ellis Island with your great grandmother.
  17. Kitcloudkicker, thanks for posting that little video. 😄 I had to rewind it several times when it happened live and was wondering what it felt like to have somebody hanging onto your hair so they don't fall on a dance maneuver. Please, AJ, stop jumping and landing on your knees. He's had a couple of surgeries and so far has had not-great consequences over the past two episodes. Also, I don't understand the shaved head. I swore he had hair for a while and even during the earlier package. I really like Justina. I've watched her on One Day at a Time Redux and really liked her character on the show. Her enthusiasm is contagious. I was just thinking how ugly Nelly's shoes were while I was watching, and then I found out they were specially made ugly shoes. Hope he kept the receipt.
  18. This part of the case was killing me. . . anybody else reminded of those scams where the people get a check for $3000 which they cash and then keep $500 for themselves as a "fee" and give the other $$ back to the check holder? (meanwhile the check gets rejected by the bank, wash, lather rinse, repeat). Were the plaintiffs really that stooopid? or that greedy? And who drives a Tesla? I see them out here and I don't think you can get three kids in the back, particularly in car seats.
  19. That must have been the woman that laid on her bed while they were cleaning her house. She was so nasty. Her daughter was so sweet, trying to cook on that disgusting stove. I was surprised the husband wanted to come back, because she was just so selfish and piggish.
  20. I keep hearing that old ditty "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. . . . " ***high fives Enoughcats virtually **** I thought Jock Ewing as well. Not a lot I can say that wasn't already said, but if it was MY land (i.e. Cody's), I would have told Cindy "Listen, you have 48 hours to get your crap off my property or it's going to be removed". And I would then have the Hoarders crew bulldoze the entire place and fill. . . . those. . . dumpsters!!!! (**said in loud game show announcer voice***) I think too many people have been watching shows like Storage Wars where people find exciting expensive stuff in storage lockers. Years ago I visited a small town in north Louisiana near the Arkansas border where some guy had rented a storefront and was selling stuff he found in storage lockers and he said the shows make it sound so appealing, but mostly he was finding crap in his overbidded lockers and losing money.
  21. I was still WTH'ed over the defendant AGAIN. The teeth were weird but was that hair thing a wig? I finally figured out what it reminded me off. Anybody see that docudrama about Gypsy Rose, the girl whose mother shaved her head and told her she had cancer when she really didn't, and the girl and her weirdo BF killed the mom? And who doesn't know if their dog gets out of the house? And if she's a vet tech, how can her dog be expected to eat at 7PM and go all night without going out to potty with a big belly full of food? My dog always used to poop in the late evening after eating earlier in the day.
  22. Aahh, it's Rubi and Bertha! I had this one on my DVR for the longest time and here it pops up again. I wonder if Bertha ever got charged with a crime since she was an adult (age-wised at least). I just again wanted to slap her through the screen. Maybe Bertha and Rubi are sharing a cell out at Chowchilla with their gangsta pals.
  23. Agreed. I didn't want to throttle her through the screen or hug her family members that were being dumped on. But I thought it was less about Julius as time went on and more about HER losing a big part of herself. I was flipping the channels the other day and they had Cory talking about Hoarders on some promo for DISH network. He said he was a paramedic but then I went looking and found this: https://crimecleaners.com/company/meet-our-staff/ I get the feeling he's really "seen some things" before he got into working with Hoarders (the show).
  24. My episodes are all over the place so I saw this episode yesterday. And who would sit on a toilet where the water was "boiling"? They were just trying to scam and surf around Air BNBs.
  25. Yep. I got a ticket for jaywalking when I was in high school. I was crossing a street in the middle of the block and got stopped by a motorcycle cop. Had to go to court and everything.
