  1. Finally someone said it. Yeah. They did a little heel turn with Zava, because the guy in episode two who yelled in Youtube videos and switched teams 14 times was not the meditative Zen-master philosopher who honors the kit man. But Rebecca sold Richmond to Zava as his team to mold, this fit with his enormous ego, and so far, everybody is going along with him. Once anything challenges that or challenges him, Zava will probably turn right back into the prick we first met. I'm interested in what will happen with Colin, and I'm on the team that hopes Dr. Sharon and Dr. Sassy collectively whoop Dr. Jake's unethical ass. We did already know that Trent has a daughter from the biscuits Ted gave to Higgins. We don't know that he's a single dad, but if the show wanted him in a relationship with Rebecca, there's nothing to say he isn't.
  2. Whenever they get through, "Weak" is twice the song "Understanding" is as a musical composition and as a moment in a show. And this is coming from somebody who sang both of them in the cafeteria and on the school bus. I don't care how many likes you get on Instagram; I'm coming to the concert to hear my songs. XScape is tripping on that one.
  3. Didn't we already do this though? I especially remember that being a big part of Rebecca's breakthrough with her mom at her father's funeral last season. Deborah confessed she could only be "nice" to Rupert because that way he knows he'll never get to her, and Rebecca learned the value of projecting confidence. I know that changes to self-esteem and confidence don't happen overnight, but I'm disappointed to see Rebecca still pretty much in the exact same place. No way should she have needed an hour to stew and whine in her seat about Rupert getting Zava's attention before she realized she could do the same thing. Thank you! I couldn't tell what this line was and was too lazy to rewind for captions.
  4. Yeah I kind of feel this way. But, this show has done a little bit of subversion too. So here's fingers crossed that by the end of the season the Lego lineup will be righted, and Henry, Ted, and Nate will all have learned some new lessons about friendship, boundaries, and toxicity.
  5. I like Ms. Bowen too, and I think she and Roy have a fun chemistry. Since she was featured in the catch-up package it seems pretty obvious something's going to happen between them. But I haven't seen much to say they'd be good partners.
  6. Loved him blowing off Ron. "Okay I've got work to do now." Everything about the food was hilarious, from the cops just wanting shrimp and mini 'dillas, to all the back-and-forth about whether Lucy's wood pulp abominations were actually food. "Is it?!!" Everything about the mushrooms was pretty funny too. I'm a square, so I didn't realize you actually just chew them. Sackson pounding a handful and ending up in a blue tube of consciousness was a thrilling journey. It was obvious from the moment Jennifer Garner as Evie announced she was a producer that she and Henry would fall in love and Henry would get back into acting. Henry loves acting, and he's good at it. I support it.
  7. What I know about soccer/football could fit in Henry's Lego cup, but I've been trying to figure out how this can happen without the cliche of them being number one or winning it all. I don't know what the FA Cup is, but if it's different to the league championship I don't think they'll win that either. All the anvils about Richmond being underdogs predicted last place and Ted needing to want to win, together with his relationship with Dr. Sharon obviously thriving is making me hope that Ted will finally get that boost of confidence and be open about wanting to win and trying to win, but that maybe the team will finish somewhere in the middle of the table, and have that still be enough. Have Ted know that he's still enough. Hopefully they'll kick West Ham and/or Man City's asses once or twice along the way though.
  8. We're working on it! KC just opened a huge new terminal, and the biggest priority is adding new lines and international flights. Maybe they'll get the Ted Lasso bump and end up with a straight shot to Heathrow. I waited until each of the previous seasons was over to watch them (same thing I'm doing with Shrinking), but since this is supposed to be the last, I decided to watch week-to-week. I hate it. I thought this was a good premiere though. It felt like a lot of character arcs kicked off, and I'm impatient ready to see where we're going. Any PR flack should know the point of flowers in an office, even a PR CFO. Something ain't right there. Love seeing Katy Wix though. That look that Roy gave Keeley when she reassured him that he'd do fine with the tactics was f***ing hot, and it's st**** to break them up. I had hoped we left Nate spitting on things back in Season 2. Alas.
  9. That is insane, lol. I love it. Always leave them wanting more. I'm going to miss this show so much! My local PBS has started running episodes of Inspector Morse. I haven't seen any of it in a while and it's so weird to watch now. It became clear at some point during the run of this show that they weren't working toward a neat hand-off between the Endeavour universe and that one, but I'm still surprised by how hard it is to reconcile the two. Young Morse and ... let's say Seasoned Morse are very different personages to me for now.
  10. My biggest laugh in an episode full of laughs was Mr. Johnson getting his Sandman Simms on sweeping Draemond off the stage. This show is a master at getting characters to do a lot with a little. Erica's probably had ten minutes of screen time this whole season and she's done as much to move the Gregory and Janine romance forward as they have. We barely see Tariq, but he was the perfect lancer to sneak in and cut down the charter school plot. It's so impressive. Also, if we will be seeing Tariq more I'm with it. I didn't know Jazmine Sullivan was from Philadelphia. I'm a milennial but my reference for a Philly artist is still Boyz II Men lol.
  11. Totally. Frasier would've figured out how to balance the truth and the greater good, probably with extracts from Shakespeare and the poet Catullus thrown in for good measure. I see what you did there lol. And that's true, to the viewers Maris is basically meant to be a joke (sometimes with the punchline being Niles). So Frasier and Martin and Niles all have stories about Maris being terrible stretching from way back in the day. Meanwhile Niles is frequently shown being loving to her, she's usually portrayed as selfish, petty, and demanding. But I also agree that Niles and Maris's marriage would've failed even if there had never been a Daphne. Maris as far as we know was selfish, petty, and demanding. She struggled with her fidelity sometimes too, like stringing along the fencing instructor. She and Niles were separated by the time of the Snow Ball, and the whole point of that plot was Daphne helping Niles put on a show because Maris was out and about in society with a series of new rich men, so she certainly got her share. I don't think she hopped into bed with Shenkman because she was sad about Niles. The way they wrote Maris she probably never imagined he'd want another woman. She must have had some feeling for Niles, but it wouldn't have kept them together.
  12. Hands down this was the most beautiful episode ever. Kudos to Kate Saxon; some of the shots actually took my breath away. As requested by the mod, I'll put the rest of my thoughts under a spoiler code:
  13. I've been catching up with a really great Frasier podcast. One of the hosts loves Frasier and has rewatched many times, and the other is watching for the first time. They have a fun running bit where the Frasier expert asks the newbie some question about what will happen. But in the episode I just listened to about "To Tell the Truth" (the one where we meet Donny), the newbie asks the expert if he thought Frasier would've eventually been honest in the deposition about Niles's feelings for Daphne if they had never dug up Maris's deep, dark secret about where her money came from. I do think after all the torture and back-and-forth about his precious morals, Frasier would've eventually sucked it up and said he wasn't aware of Niles being in love with Daphne. Frasier lied all the time, lol. And for all his talk about principles, he sold those out too on occasion, like in the episode where they stole that author's manuscript. The whole being under oath thing I don't think would ultimately have been enough to keep him from protecting his brother. (I'm saying this as a lawyer haha.)
  14. I loved the premise of this, but Kerry Washington's character is just too annoying. I might just skip ahead to the last episode to see what happens. Or I know this is based on a true story, so I might look into the book or whatever instead. I do love all the beauty shots of Minneapolis and shout outs to the area though.
  15. Here's a pretty expansive (and spoilery) write-up from Variety about what to expect from the new season, with comments from Jason, Brett, Nick, Juno, and others about their characters' arcs: https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/ted-lasso-cast-season-3-curveballs-long-episodes-1235549671/
  16. I think the well (or the lake?) must really be running dry if this is what they're making episodes out of now.
  17. I did a rewatch too of some of the most crucial episodes like Neverland and Home, and I'm struggling to remember some of the sneakier details. It's such a dense, rich show. I hate to see it come to an end, but at least it will be fun to rewatch. I'll always be either remembering stuff I forgot or seeing things I never even picked up on in the first place.
  18. I'm loving this. I had so much more faith in this reboot than usual that it would've made sense for me to be let down, but instead, vindication! I would've liked to see Lizzy Caplan to come back, but Jennifer Garner's doing great as love interest and the person who won't let Henry's acting aspirations die. I like all the new people. Sackson dancing in the mirrors or whatever while Ron looked on was perfect. Tik Tok, how does it work? Party Dowm? Come on, Ron. I can't wait for Escapade's prom. Also, it kind of seems like each ep sucks more of the old gang back into a bowtie. If so, I'm excited to see what gets Lydia back on the team.
  19. I don't see a post talking about anyone dying? From my understanding the site's rule and the practice in this thread has always been that people can talk freely about a show once it starts airing. The premiere date has been big news for the last several months. I realize it's a drag for people not able to watch yet, but it's a little much to expect others not to post their thoughts. I try to be circumspect and not give important things away here. But this is place I come to squee about Endeavour. It's the final season. There's much to discuss.
  20. Agreed! It was real Season 6 finale vibes. I mean I have much more of a sense of impending doom this time around, but overall I'm looking for Deguello^2 next week. Man, it was such great casting on those Oxford twerps. I wanted to punch each one of them in the throat. I've been waiting impatiently for the meta detective show storyline since they first teased it, and they delivered. The bemused and bored expressions Thursday and Morse were sporting while the actors went on about being called to the set and getting off book were hilarious. Thursday talking to Morse about his decision was heartbreaking. And then the warning he got at the end, yikes! I don't know how they can possibly wrap all this up in just one more episode.
  21. He's really great. I also loved his reaction when Ava said, "I thought you thought you were one of the good ones." How he says "I am!" really earnestly and then looks directly into the camera for a split second; that cracked me up. I was familiar with everybody else in the main cast before the show, but he's been a real discovery. I thought the whole Janine/Gregory/Bone Town saga was a little dumb. Maurice deserved better. However, as somebody ostensibly in the target demo for Telfar bags, I wouldn't have loved to get that bag he gave Janine. I'd feel like I'm carrying around a hunk of foil paper. (But I also am speaking as somebody who already owned that exact Lego set that Gregory gave Amber lol) I don't have kids, but I'm personally interested in educational equity. The charter school issue is an enormous one; all of the arguments involve such high stakes. Kids are going through this in real-time, learning how to think, and learning how to engage with the world while grown-ups go back and forth. There's nuance and a lot of passion on all sides. Honestly, I don't expect this show to come up with any real solutions or even to go very deep into the convo. It's a sitcom; our heroes are a ragtag group of public school true believers, and Legendary is coming for them. I'm ready to see Barbara, Melissa, and Ava kick some charter butt.
  22. I loved it too. Everyone looks refreshed, really, but especially Morse. The story was great; I loved all the music and the intra-orchestra politics. And they did a good job weaving in the series-long arcs too. Also I got misty a couple times, particularly when Jim asked Thursday what kind of sandwiches he had. I was spoiled on who'd be coming back so I wasn't surprised to see Poor Sam though. His actor hasn't ever had too much to do, but they're taking him through it this time. It makes sense for him to have gone through horrors, but yikes. He had such a haunted look in his eyes when he corrected Thursday about knowing what he's been through. I hope there's something better coming for him by the last episode. And I guess poor Morse too, although who didn't see that coming.
  23. The final season is about to premiere in the UK, but the real news is these episode titles:
  24. Oh Lottie would be great at hosting. I can't remember what her career status is, but I wonder if she'd go for it if asked.
  25. I don't know why, but these are less and less satisfying to watch for me. (I've just watched and don't really remember much of anything that happened.) Maybe it's because it feels increasingly obvious that some PA is just mailing out recipes and instruction sheets to everyone and hoping for the best. I guess it's not really interesting to me to watch a bunch of people who aren't interested in baking "make their first cake" or whatever. I'm not sure I'd rather go back to the Masterclasses with the judges pretending to make their own versions of old challenges, but probably so. Even if they weren't actually producing the final products, Paul and Mary were giving out solid tips.
