  1. This was a great episode for Kevin. He's easily my favorite of the Big Three mostly because none of his storylines frustrate me. The parallels between Jack and Kevin were really well done and I could see how Kevin, being a former addict himself and also feeling left out, would have a lot of empathy (and sympathy) for Nicky. I have a few nitpicks with the writing like Kate hanging up the call and then just miraculously showing up at the door (unnecessary, she still could've said what she said to Nicky without the dramatics), then Nicky inviting them in then almost immediately kicking them out (clunky and only really served for Kate to say what she said then for the whole "you are Jack's kids.") BUT this happened within the first 15? 20? minutes of this show and after last week, I was ready to hate this episode too. However, this was miles better than last week. (Butch and Sundance hee!) I agree with this and I think that's my problem with the writing on this show (does this show have new writers or has it always been this clunky and awkward and last week's awful episode opened my eyes?) is afraid of really GOING there and making people do truly awful shit or they write these huge cliffhangers and can't (and don't) follow through. I'll reserve (some) judgment until I see how this plays out next week but I have a sister. She's not even that much younger than me. I feel like putting her in a chokehold some days and she freaking infuriates me on most days but I love her so I don't know if I would ever COMPLETELY write her off at least not for the reason we got on the show. Maybe we wouldn't be close but telling everyone that she's dead? I don't know if Jack would either, I mean he still was in touch with his parents no? And he was an alcoholic so he's had to have done questionable things while under the influence. I like Nicky though. Both actors playing him really did a great job BUT we still don't know jack-shit about Beth! (I mean, we got Zoe but that's not enough.) Did she even get a flashback episode or even a flashback scene? Come on show. Don't do me like this.
  2. I’m not sure how long I can stick with this show if TPTB insist on doubling down on this political storyline. I can’t find one thing enjoyable about it and it seems (maybe because I hate it that much) that its taking up large parts of this show and I just... Please show. Give it up. None of it makes sense anyway. PS. While I’m here, can we give up the longwinded speeches too? Kate’s to the college kid and Randall’s... well I’m counting three right off the top of my head (in this episode alone!) were especially cringeworthy.
  3. *raises hands* I thought so from the moment Ashley mentioned it and came out of lurking just to post this (but you beat me to it :) ). I know people can be racist assholes for no reason (been on the wrong side of a few incidents myself) but in this particular instance? I turned to my sister and said, “I’m sure whoever is posting these comments is someone she knows.” Leida is awful but Eric is worse. Also Leida ain’t rich and Tasha is gross. So everyone loses! Can Steven actually bring the the baby to America?
  4. I probably say this everytime I come out of lurking but problematic teen shows with inane storylines and pretty pretty people seem to be my krpytonite. I watched every season of Pretty Little Liars and after swearing I was done with this show at the end of last season, I find myself still interested in watching this. I had a really long winded post about this episode that got lost and I don’t feel like typing it all up again but I will say that watching Betty being force fed drugs was pretty fucked up. Also Veronica suddenly thinking that her father may not be too bad is the kind of writing that makes me want to sit in the writing room one good time just to see what kind of drugs these writers are really on. Then again, that might how Betty will forgive Alice for throwing her into that known hell-hole. These parents are awful. PS. I kinda like Archie. Wrong. He’s my favorite character. Maybe we need a UO thread lol.
  5. Liam is easily the best part of this show. I feel like Fiona should be just a bit more present in his life since that’s what she signed up for but I guess this is what we’re going to get. I like Kev and V but their storylines always make me cringe.
  6. First time posting in this forum to say: Angela’s shirt also has holes.
  7. When I first watched the episode, I thought it was riveting but now that I sit and think about it, I have a problem with the idea that Fred would let June meet with Hannah. While I understand the mind-fuck that Fred was trying to pull, I don’t know if I necessarily believe (due to his precarious position detailed by another poster) that he’d go through the trouble of setting up a meeting for his high-risk pregnant handmaid to see her daughter in a remote location. It’s too high risk just to... hurt June even more than he did by raping her? I blame the writing for this though.
  8. I think what I hated most about Deja smashing the car is that it was done for purely melodramatic reasons only. Of course, everyone reacts differently and will point to someone in their life/a situation they heard about where someone reacted in the same way. To me, the Deja we were shown tends to withdraw, hide, and be silent. I think her outburst would’ve manifested in a quieter way and I think that would’ve been a little more powerful. I’ve definitely been there before lack of basic social norms and all. And because I’m not a big Kate fan, I’m just going to assume she walked into his sick room 5011 times with suggestions on how to help and eventually you get tired of talking or trying to make the other person feel better because she feels bad for not knowing how to help and she hates seeing him like this. Its just easier to just lay there and do nothing in the dark and hopes she just leaves soon. Ahem. Now I’m defending Toby, this is truly the dark days. That said, I also doubt they will do this storyline well because this show does not do understated well. At all. I do like this show, I promise.
  9. Nah. Kennedy for sure didn’t belong in the top four much less top two. I hate sob stories and pity votes in my competition shows (and real life) so all this boo-hooing didn’t endear me to her. Trixie was absolutely right about Kennedy’s drag. Besides, some of the more successful queens didn’t even win their season so I’m confused as to how this clearly sympathetic vote was supposed to help Kennedy. I’m not Shangela’s biggest fan but I’m objective enough to know that she definitely deserved to win that crown at the very least be in the top two. Throw the whole All Stars series away.
  10. Let me start off with the bad: Ka-Toby? Cringe. I have strong hatred for mashup names and I especially hate when they are used in show because who refers to themselves like that? The wedding speech - which was not at all about the couple and definitely should've been something that was done maybe at the car? Or literally any other time during the episode. I didn't hate the speech I just hated it as a wedding speech. I said it in the last episode thread but I'll repeat it again on any other show (or maybe it's own show) I wouldn't mind Deja but I hate this storyline here. Hate. For this exact reason: Then Beth's cousin and Toby's parents showed up and I'm thinking hey, you know who could've gotten all that screen time... Speaking of family, Toby's brother didn't show up for the wedding, huh? That's low. On to the good: everything Kevin and Randall related. "She's crazy." "Yep." "Don't let me sleep with her." "Are you kidding me? We're great brothers. I would want me as a brother." LOVED. I liked the flashforward. Well, maybe not the one 20 years into the future but the "immediate" future ones. Toby and that depression storyline is going to gut me. I immediately recognized that look, the position...just everything about it. 20 years into the future though? I liked the idea of it but not enough for this to be a reoccurring thing. I also think that last episode should've been about Kate running around spreading ashes, looking for the shirt, Kevin's speech, Toby's parents and this episode could've focused more on the wedding, Rebecca and Kate, Beth's cousin and Kevin and Randall as wedding coordinators and somewhere in between that Deja's mom goes to jail or gets hooked on drugs again, terminates her rights and we're exactly where we were when this episode ended. Especially since as many of you pointed out, they spent an episode flushing out the (unnecessary) backstory complete with repeated scenes only for it to be wrapped up in a few clunky lines this episode.
  11. I really do like this show as a guilty pleasure. These campy teen dramas sucker me in with an awesome first season and then I whine and complain about everything after. It never fails. On that note, I have some thoughts (which might just reiterate some earlier ones). BURN THAT WIG. It's awful and it's wrapped in some awful mashup of mental illness/sex that this show lamely tried to allude to then Betty wears it for sexy times with Jughead. NO. Jughead is too pretentious to use couple mashup names. I hate to see them myself but to hear a character use them? Just no. No one refers to themselves like this. Cut it out show. Cheryl and Toni - I appreciate it because I like the characters but it was definitely missing a scene or two just to see how/why Toni made that decision to even talk to someone who basically insulted everyone and everything Toni knows and cares about. Chic - this wasn't even done well on OTH so I don't expect any better here. @sweetandsour - I agree with everything said about Archie and his motivations this season have probably made the most sense out of everything this season. Kevin definitely deserves more screen time based on his storylines and Josie based on the fact that we know so little about her. But with Josie, I feel like the show has NO idea what to do with her and she merely exist just to say "LOOK, RIVERDALE IS DIVERSE!" which...no. The parents all grew up in Riverdale and went to school together right? It seems odd they don't interact since Hiram is buying all their land. And finally to weigh in on Archie and Veronica, I think they like each other well enough but I don't think it's a TRUE LOVE OTP which would be refreshing since my main complaint when I watch these shows is the inevitable timeline jump and the characters are still obsessed with their high school exes. I could definitely see Archie and Veronica ending up with different people.
  12. These skit challenges are almost always cringe worthy and this was one was no exception. Morgan's runway looked great but there was absolutely no way she was staying past this episode. Shangela grew on me. I still don't like the GOT references and I'm convinced she plays the same character for each challenge but she is witty, and funny and she entertains me. I won't be mad if she wins but she will truly have that asterisk (for me anyway) because Ben eliminated herself. Kennedy - I felt bad what she said about her experiences at dragcon and I fully agree with the race/drag race issue that was brought up in the previous episode thread for me but she just doesn't do anything for me. She always misses the mark for me. (I feel that way about several queens on each season regardless of color.) Her styling choices always baffle me and aside from the character on the Bitchelor, I don't think she did anything great that justifies her spot in the top four. Bebe - I've been watching this show since it's Vaseline lensed season 1 so I have some love for Bebe but I felt going in this that she was not going to win. She plays it very safe which worked on the first season of this show but probably doesn't now or any other season going forward. Trixie - I find her talking heads hilarious and wish she brought this energy earlier in the game. As such, any other win aside from Shangela doesn't really make sense. This All-Stars format truly needs a revamp (and a hiatus).
  13. If this was an episode for a new show or a different show, I would’ve loved it. As it stands, I’m invested in the stories of characters that exist on the show that we still don’t know much about.
  14. Plowing through the seasons (again) - I’m on season 5. Were we supposed to be rooting for Doug Ross and the multitude of (IMO) terrible decisions he made until his departure? UO: I like Lucy.
  15. I agree and I think they probably should’ve left this issue for the flashback of the Big Three in their 20s but then I’ve always had the nagging feeling that the show should’ve started with the Big Three at an earlier age.
  16. ITA! And now that we got a little bit about Toby, I want to know more about Beth and her family. She mentioned having a big one to Deja right? I would rather meet them than see this foster/tenement storyline.
  17. This episode (and the editing) was pretty bad. What was up with the short runway? Shangela’s GOT references are KILLING me. Especially since the queens are pretty much eliminating themselves at this point. No need for elaborate fake alliances sis. Also, I personally think its time to put Snatch Game to bed. Only one or two queens from each season ever really knock it out of the park anyway. ETA: ... or what @annewithaneee said :)
  18. Ha! I came in here to post that too! I could not stand her and thought my eyeballs would roll out of my sockets when she popped out of that box but if she stops saying that damn catch phrase I refuse to type out, she may just grow on me. I’m ready for Milk to go next.
  19. Well, since I’m not all that particularily invested in Betty/Jughead, I’ll be the lone wolf in saying that this was a miss for me. My problem was that it didn’t even have to be! The arcs/plot points that the writers want to hit are being undermined by some disturbing (and non-sensical to me) choices. I agree with some people that the show should embrace the crazy, camp but I don’t think this episode really did that. Betty as a cam girl will never make sense to me. No matter how many times the word darkness is used. What the hell is that even supposed to mean in relation to Betty anyway? Chic Cooper is also a miss and now we have another dead body. Bittersweet Symphony at a Confirmation? Remember the awesomely tap ceremony that Archie attended with Cheryl? The Confirmation should have been similar just sinister men and women eating delicious Latino (do we know where exactly the Lodges are from?) foods speaking Spanish and Veronica knowing exactly whats going on and Archie being blissfully dumb while he’s being forced fed stuff he’s probably never seen before... while enjoying himself and Veronica torn between her family and everything she knows and Archie who is dumb and innocent and has no idea what is going on around him. Jughead - the only good thing about this storyline is FP. Jughead joining the Serpents could’ve been interesting - then they tried make him some kind of leader, along with that terrible Serpent backstory then the mutilation.... I wish this season was plotted better I guess is what I’m trying to say.
  20. Well, they all wore the same color and they're on the same show. I don't think placing the pictures together was purposefully mean. I agree that the dress wasn't very flattering. I've read that it was a Kate Spade custom gown, and I noticed in the latest episode in the animal shelter scene Kate had a Kate Spade handbag. Maybe Kate Spade (or their parent company, Coach) is a sponsor and Chrissy is contractually obligated to wear their clothes to some red carpet events. I actually love Kate Spade wallets and bags but yeah, Kate Spade is definitely not where I would go if I wanted clothes as a plus sized woman... even if it were to be custom made for me. I HATE this building storyline. I just can’t hand wave away all of the real steps it would take to buy and renovate a building. Plus they are definitely going to have to raise rents there too. I just... all of the places Randall and Beth’s storyline could go they chose this? I’d love to see more of the girls or Beth’s family or Randall actually dealing with the very real problems he has but no... he’s going to adopt! fostor a kid! buy a building! free the animals in the zoo! Okay, maybe not the last one...
  21. All of this! I mentioned in an older episode thread the Lodges remind me of the novellas I watched with my mom and its still true. I just find them very entertaining plus if the opposite side is Jughead then I’m Team Lodge all thd way. Boooooo on that fight show. Literally anyone else (aside from Kevin) would’ve worked. The Serpents bike gang stemming from an old Indian tribe? C’mon show. You don’t have the nuance for this kind of thing. It’s especially hard because Jughead seems to be the only one with the problem here... which I’m not even sure what his problem is anymore. Also not here for Dark Betty either and the overuse of the word darkness... which means nothing at this point. Betty doesn’t understand herself so she wants to be a cam girl? Wut? Girl, go see a therapist. The Blossoms continue to entertain me. Mama Blossom is easily becoming one of my favorite characters on this train wreck of a show.
  22. Well, I for one am thankful for a new episode airing after the Superbowl. It’ll wash the taste of watching the Pats/Eagles out of my mouth. #GiantsFan :) I am not a fan of this building storyline but the show definitely won me over with the Property Brothers : This Is Us Edition. Hot damn. Feel free to add as many scenes as you’d like show and I’ll wave away all my nitpicks and disbelief. I won’t even roll my eyes.
  23. Honest question here as I (and no one in my immediate circle) have children but back when I used to baby sit, there was a pacifer clip it has a ribbon and you fastened it on one end to any pacifer and the other clipped to the baby’s clothing. I’m probably not explaining it right but does anyone know what I’m talking about? Do they still exist?
  24. Let’s say the writers aren’t 100% transparent and the FBI case is real (though I’m sure Archie’s MOM would also need some heads up since they suspect Fred’s right) wouldn’t this investigation expose Mayor McCoy too? Because she ain’t subtle.
